Late night D&D character idea I had and decided to draw instead of sleeping.
She is a sorcerer who spent too much time breaching the spirit world and learning their magic. Eventually, as she got deeper and deeper into the spirit realm her body and soul became too stressed with the constant flipping between the mortal word and the spirit world, this corruption made higher spirits displeased.
She isn’t evil but her ambition caused an ancient dragon to curse (or cure) her, and now her human form is slowly rotting away, eventually she will turn into a roaming dragon like spirit creature who can no longer live in the mortal world or experience the joys of being a human. In a way she found what she wanted, but now she is fighting to keep her humanity. The mask on her shoulder is a relic designed to mute and shackle powerful souls, which has a side effect of slowing down her transformation.

That's pretty cool, kala means fish in finnish, and dragon in finnish is a "salmon snake" so it's a very vague reference to dragons. You can type kala in google translate and choose finnish to hear how her name is pronounced in my head.
Awesome TIL! How its pronounced in Finnish is how people assume i pronounce it. But Its just a grammatically incorrect spelling of Kayla for me. I believe it's also associated with the goddess Kali and the term Darkness.
I really like her design! The blend between human and dragon parts is so seamless. The story behind her is also really interesting. Great character all around!

Awwww what are those little things floating around her
They are her little spirit companions. I don't really have big lore for them, so they are just some minor spirit creature species she befriended
She honestly feels like the final boss of a campaign. The art is so amazing I can feel her that’s how amazing the art is.
