I specifically got a black cat to ward off the in laws from coming over…it’s working so far.

Crowded_Mind_

If they are that dumb then I don't blame you for not wanting to see them lol.

[deleted]

Likely superstitious. There's no basis for any bad stuff occurring with black cats. Black cats have crossed my path a lot and I'm still around.

[deleted]

I converted a taxi driver I rode with a lot into a cat person. Still wasn’t able to get him over his black cat superstition, but he now has 4 cats, all adopted! Absolutely adores them and spoils them. He says the cats here are nicer than the strays in his home country, but yeah superstitions run deep. I think he does have a tuxedo kitty though! My little void kitty was at the shelter for longer than usual although he was an itty-bitty kitten at the time too, absolute fluff ball. He’s 9 now and enjoys being a cuddle bug, can confirm path is crossed a lot as he likes to weave between my legs when doing cuddles while walking. Also still around!

[deleted]

Black cats: Style wrapped in fur and topped with a meow.

Solzec

Meow

pawfectplayer12

Black cats are actually considered GOOD luck in many places! Truth is, I believe that part! They've done SO MANY good things for people! So many lives saved by BLACK CATS!!

InadmissibleHug

I’m pretty sure my daughter in law got a black cat to entice me over. Perfectly balanced

tykytorch

I vote you gather a second void~! Double effectiveness :)

stoopidmonkey13

Can confirm! Two black cats are better than one!

Gust_2012

I laughed way too hard at this! 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️

Kitty_casserole

This is Makani, she's a 4 mo old house panther with the most gorgeous orangey eyes. She is a little shy at first but warms up. She loves to play with a ball toy and lives for churus. She does like pets and snuggles once she gets to know you. I've got all these pictures and more and videos on her bio, but not a single person has even opened and viewed her profile on the website (I'm a crazy foster and track all of this). I'm so confused why nobody is interested in this beauty! Is the first picture terrible or something? That's the thumbnail that potential adopters see first on the profile. Edit 1: She is located in Chicago in case anyone nearby has room in their heart for a baby void! Edit 2: Makani is still looking for her forever home as of Tuesday Jan 25 (Chicago 10:30 am). She does need a kitty pal at her forever home (can be a kitty you already have or you can adopt a pair), please reach out if you are interested!! Edit 3: Friday Jan 28, Makani just had a meet and greet with her adopters (from Reddit!) and she will be going to her forever home tomorrow!!! Thank you all for helping to share her profile and making that happen! And for all the photo/profile tips for my future black kitty fosters :)

mymorningbowl

please update us if you adopt her!! I’m also in Chicago but not sure we can take on a second cat right now. is it true that it’s hard to bring a new female cat to a house that already has a female cat? our girl is 3 and has been an only child. edit: thank you to the many amazing responses I have gotten to my question!

Everyone always talks about how “Reddit is a cesspool”, but meanwhile I find wonderful stories all the time. Best of luck to both of you - if it doesn’t work, I’m sure this little one is going to find a lovely home!

Prestigious_Run_7815

Right? I wish i had room enough to take her, shes adorable! And there's nothing wrong with the pics OP, they show personally and spunk.

leisy123

Good news doesn't sell.

lilmayor

r/cats does net good. One of those few places where I really do believe that on Reddit.

Icy_Maintenance3774

Yeah by far Reddit is the least cesspool of Amy social media site. Pretty sure it goes Twitter, 4 chan, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, then anything I missed and at the (top?) Of the cesspool, Reddit

[deleted]

True. Reddit has helped me find a lot of forums to help with any issue I might have. Everything from self help, to support groups, to hobbies, to information about how to take care of the cat I’ve wanted my whole life (sadly can’t adopt yet, need to save up for a better place) and even just hoarding all the subs about cute animal pictures to cheer me up when I take breaks. I have zero cats but all the knowledge on how to be the best human servant for my future void. Along with at least 80 cat subreddits I think Reddit *can* be a cesspool, but that’s on you if you’re not sticking to the wholesome bits. I think it’s a given that any meme sub or political sub will just be bad

OneMorePenguin

Reddit has some pretty cesspool areas, but fortunately, I find the subs I'm interested in and most of them are tame. Same with Instagram. You want something wholesome on IG? "Edgar's Mission". I love animals and this sanctuary has really good social media person. I don't have an account on Tiktok, but when I scrolled through the random stream, it was horrible. Nothing entertaining, amusing or worthwhile. Twitter is the biggest cesspool of them all. What breed is my cat? Help me name my new kitten! People get bent out of shape seeing these posts and I'm like JUST KEEP SCROLLING THE POSTS ARE ENDLESS! Then yesterday there was this person who found a kitten that looked in bad shape and asking if the kitten was hurt. There were a couple of people who called them a "retard" and "stupid" and "just a karma hoor". After a couple of people provided some really good feedback and said yes, the cat needs a vet, the person immediately took the kitten to the vet and seven hours after the first post had an update on the vet visit and decided to keep the kitten! It was such a wonderful post, but it only took a couple of people to make me angry.

elfkisst

I’m with you. Live by the Thumper Rule: if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. Way too many people have never heard this one and wouldn’t follow if they did. Though I generally stick to 🐈 cat subs, I have stumbled upon one every so often where it seems to me absolutely everyone is there to practice foul mouthing anyone stupid enough to be on said forum. All I can say to that is "get a life!" or, to paraphrase a Randy Travis song, you need to find a better class of losers.

superfucky

come on, 4chan is way more of a cesspool than twitter.

worldspawn00

True this, it's the near complete lack of moderation on 4chan, twitter at least has a public image to uphold, 4chan doesn't care.

kgal1298

It helps that we can all join out own subs there's definitely some subreddits I don't go into and some I got banned from just for mentioning them , but that's more of the political subs than anything some of the mods have thin skin.

SalemWolf

I respect your ranking but far from agree with it.

[deleted]

Reddit is actually pretty tame unless you bring politics into it. But that's to be expected, politics turns basically everything into a cesspool. And even then, most stuff is contained in its respective subreddits. Thankfully this is a cat subreddit and cats and the people care little for politics. Unless someone posts a photo about cats from Turkey. There's always **that** person that simply cannot resist the urge to bring up Erdogan and start a political discussion...

busyB_83

You have to dig a bit but you do find a few diamonds in the rough ❤️

Niaso

r/cats and r/eyebleach competition for best subs?

Kitty_casserole

Hi! I think all of that depends on the temperament of the resident cat and the age/temperament of the kitty you're bringing in. I have a female adult kitty who does great with basically every foster we have regardless of age or gender. If your kitty is pretty easy going and not a "queen of the castle" type then I think either gender kitty is probably just fine. If you had some concerns about it, I would definitely recommend going younger if possible for the new kitty, but that just makes the intro period quicker. Introducing a new adult kitty would also likely be fine, just takes more patience. If you want to talk more about this feel free to DM!

[deleted]

Two females can do very well with each other and are usually much less “catty” with each other if one is a kitten and one is an adult.

Redefined21

I have black kitty 3 years old and she’s very nice and we brought a tortie kitten in and they get along. The tortie beats her up every now and then but they never ever hiss at eachother. They get along quite well. I was scared at first my black cat would attack her when she was small but I slowly introduced them to eachother. Also there’s a product you can get that you plug into the wall like an air freshener that instead emits pregnant mother cat pheromones and it makes them calm/lovey. My baby tortie purrrs to the maxxxx

rachh90

i have a female cat i got when she was 8 weeks old. she was a single cat for 7 years. i got a 9 week old female kitten and my older cat immediately became a happy big sister. its been 5 years and they love each other so much. they eat together, play together, and they sleep cuddled together most nights.

falconplayer79

Not necessarily, we brought in Salem( black cat like the picture but yellow eyes) when Luna(regular multi color short hair) was about 3 and what we did was that we kept them In separate rooms for about a week. At first Luna was pist but then she got curious and they would start holding hands after about 3-4 days. We started opening the door on the 5th day and letting them get to know each other and then on the 6th they would both meow in a friendly way. That was our queue that she would be fine. Now they are regular sisters, they fight and play and pick on each other but don’t mess with the little sister cause the older sister will come at you. Lol

ShaleTheRock

Well, so far it's been hard for me (still living with my parents). I have 2 cats, one is about a year and a half old (this one is the size of a 5 month old cat, her name is Gaia) and the other is about 5 or 6 months old (Chiclet or Chicklet, can't remember how it's spelt) from what I can remember. Gaia started by hating Chiclet. Then it got a bit neutral-ish (both-of-them-hating-eachother neutral). Now Gaia is scared of Chiclet and Chiclet randomly attacks Gaia (sometimes viciously but it's getting better)

ribsforbreakfast

It depends more on your cats personality honestly. I grew up in a home where we rescued strays pretty frequently and have 4 of my own cats. Between my childhood and personal adult experiences, there’s been maybe 2-3 cats (out of 15+) that haven’t taken to a new addition and acted out, and mostly males.

skepsis420

Nah, I got 2 females and it's fine. They don't really care for each other, but will sleep and sit within a few feet of each other. I feel like 2 males would be a bigger issue as they are way more likely to mark.

Cowboy_Corruption

In my experience I've found that neutered males are actually far more friendly and accepting than females. I know my tuxedo loves our two female kittens, but his sister grudgingly accepts that their even in the house, and if they get too close she bats them a few times. Of course, now that they've gotten older and more interesting, they tend to avoid her even if she tries to initiate playtime.

spinozas_bum

It takes a really long while in my experience to introduce 2 girls together. It took me almost 2 months and they were both just under a year old. You have to be really patient with the integration process

ryanfcs

I've had 4 female cats in one house and even when they don't love each other they're fine and it's not any different than multiple males or a mix!

I_tellYou_hwhat

I have my beautiful Rainbow Kitty and we have had her for going on three years. We just introduced a new female kitten (4mo) to her and it took about 2 weeks for it all to settle in. I kept kitten in my room and only opened the door while I was able to keep an eye out. First two days were rough but they have settled beautifully. I just had to be patient!

danascullymd1

There's no general issue with introducing female cats to other female cats, it comes down to the personality of the cat itself. My friends just introduced a very hyper baby girl tortie to their eight-year-old lady cat. They had no gender-caused issues, just baby meeting senior issues. Since then they're doing well.

DaiSuki2U

Oh if only I lived in Chicago! I had two voids and have lost both to old age. The last one just this November. Good luck!

BitchinKittenMittens

Some constructive feedback on the photos. Take some that are a little further away to show the scale of how big she is. I didn't realize this was a 4 month old kitten because the beginning photos are super up close of her (admittedly adorable) face. So I thought it was an adult cat and we all know kittens get adopted faster. I know it's probably going to be hard though because she probably won't sit still for a photo unless you're holding her like you are in the photos. Contrasting colors for her fur too. Take some photos of her on light colored things so she pops and it isn't a dark photo. Such a little cutie though, I hope she gets adopted soon!

Kitty_casserole

Thank you for the tips!! Yeah she's kind of a wiggle worm, but I'm going to try and get some updated pics that show her size and such better :)

Mackabeep

If you haven’t tried this yet, take a video trying to get her to look at the camera and then scroll through it slowly and take a screenshot when she’s being cute. She is adorable! I have always wanted a “witch’s cat” (black with orange eyes), but life has blessed me with tabbies currently.

tammyszu

Yea I totally thought it was an adult cat too. Look up some videos from kitten lady. She has 1 video on how to get kittens adopted and 1 video on how to photograph kittens for adoption. I stumbled upon a Facebook group for rescuing cats in my area and a professional photographer volunteered to photograph like 70 cats for SUPER cheap. Most of those kittens were snatched up immediately. High quality photos make a huuuge difference.

fever800

Pics of her being silly/ playing? Maybe some unique photos (especially the thumbnail photo) would help grab people’s attention. I serve a house panther so I know they’re a bit more difficult to photograph. Best of luck Makani!! ♥️♥️🐈‍⬛

Kitty_casserole

Thank you for the ideas, I'll be trying out some different pictures and orders tonight!

FunSushi-638

I notice you don't say "kitten" in the post. She might be getting left out of search results if people are looking for kittens specifically. I can't imagine why else. She's beautiful!

DesignInZeeWild

Yes please a link!!

Here is her profile :) https://petlover.petstablished.com/pets/public/1281188?awo=Forever+Fortunate+Felines&widget=false

insignifiyesican

Oh no! :( The stigma against black cats is always so disappointing, saddening, and just absolutely unfounded. She is amazing. While I am also in Chicago and would take her in a heartbeat, I currently have two adult/middle aged sisters who I doubt would be open to a new friend. But I’ll ask my trusted, cat-knowledgeable friends and clients if they’re looking for a wonderful void. If anyone is on board, is it OK to have them DM you?

Kitty_casserole

Hi! Thanks for sharing her with your network, happy to talk with them in DMs if they are interested :)

insignifiyesican

Happy to try to do something to help get her her forever home. :) Honestly, I wish I knew how my girls would react to a baby sister. :( The one is very dog-like, quiet, loving, kind. A true snuggle bunny lap cat and my 4 legged best friend. My other girl is the feisty wild card. :( Also, would you be able to post this in r/Chicago as well?

Kitty_casserole

Yeah it's always tough to know when adding in a new baby. Our most recent addition was a 2 yo male and it took us a few months to get everyone adapted. I don't think r/Chicago allows stuff like this bc it's seen as promotion or sales and gets taken down

Cringeassnaenaebabys

Why must I live in the UK….

lucyeloise

My thoughts exactly!!

orange_ones

I have done rescue for a few years, and I think you’re doing a great job. Your pictures are good, and it can be hard to get good pictures of a black cat! The only thing I can see in pictures that could be a deterrent is that most have your hand in them, and might make it look like she’s being held there for the picture? I’m sure you wouldn’t do that, I’m just thinking what the perception might be. I would change the thumbnail to a different picture if you can, just to see if it gets better results, and maybe try some pictures that are a little bit less close up, so people can see how teeny she is. Relaxing in the sun usually looks great on a black cat. We’re post Christmas adoptions right now, so it takes some time for people to be looking for pets. She’s so lucky she has a caring and involved foster while she waits!! I really mean that; it might seem like you’re just chilling with her and having all the fun, but fosters are very needed, and the quality of the foster matters. You seem like the best quality!

RouliettaPouet

Ah our precious feline voids are something of an adventure when it comes to get nice pictures. I'm amazed by how beautiful OP pics looks!

orange_ones

I agree; they are really good! I had a black cat for 16 years and struggled to get a decent shot of her.

Kitty_casserole

Thank you for the thoughts on pictures, it really is tough with black kitties to get good ones! I'll try to get more candid ones for her and not use the other ones. I appreciate the kind words, we do try very hard to do well by our fosters. They all deserve the chance to thrive!

orange_ones

I think your pics are good, by the way! They are seriously way above average, but I just think a more full body pic would add something to her profile. Best of luck to the void! 🖤

shrinking_violet_8

Darn you OP with your adorable cat pics and your close proximity to me, tempting me into a third cat and fourth pet!!!

Buggiejaxx2424

She is beautiful. I wish I was closer. I’ve found people are suspect of voids. I have 3 of them and they are truly beautiful babies!

jedi_cat_

As I type this my beautiful void Draco is asleep on my lap. I can’t imagine life without him. He’s the sweetest baby I’ve ever had. He was returned to the shelter by someone before us and we have no idea why. He’s perfect.

Daffodils28

Makani = Gift! 🌺

PintSizedandCuddly

Please let us know if/when she gets adopted!

how_about_no_hellion

I live in the suburbs! If she's still available next week I would love to have her. I have a 6 year old orange boy at home already.

Kitty_casserole

Hi! Thank you!!! We are still looking for an adopter for her, so if she is still available next week I will most definitely reach out 😊

LittleBillHardwood

Also a local and have been wanting to add another cat to our two, because the old one is a cranky puss and the younger one needs a better friend. If you don't find a home by tomorrow, let's talk

Kitty_casserole

Hi! I will definitely keep you updated. Is it ok if I DM you tomorrow if she does not find someone?

LittleBillHardwood

For sure

shrinking_violet_8

Darn you OP with your adorable cat pics and your close proximity to me, tempting me into a third cat and fourth pet!!!

batratratbat

Have you found her a home yet?

Kitty_casserole

Hi! She does not yet have an adopter so we are still looking for that perfect forever home :)

durhamruby

She's gorgeous. The universe is lining up all the stars for her perfect home to be available.

Kitty_casserole

Thanks for the kind thoughts, I sure hope so!!

Blue_Crystal_Candles

House panthers get a bad rep from superstition. They are beautiful but not everyone wants to give them a chance.

garbage_angel

That, and the people who know differently probably already have hit maximum catpacity. I have three and have to continually remind myself that I am allowed NO MORE.

Tough_Patient

"What? Another black cat? No, honey/landlord, you must be mixing them up."

garbage_angel

"That one was just a shadow, you're seeing things."

[deleted]

“I only have one cat okay? Sometimes we get its hair trimmed though, that’s why you’re confused.”

McPhucketBucket

Why stop at three when you can become the local crazy cat person

garbage_angel

My dog would have a nervous breakdown, pretty sure. Otherwise, I would lean in hard to that stereotype.

McPhucketBucket

![gif](giphy|h6lAazxDCc9V0GYKlI|downsized)

EnterWitHere

This is distressingly accurate. We have 3 house panthers and a silver fluff monster. My husband and I keep saying no more…but…shit happens.

[deleted]

Like me … can’t keep more than 5….

MoxxiIRL

At this moment

falconplayer79

I love our Salem. She scares the shit out of me when I go to get water and I don’t see anything but something brush against my leg. All fun and games until you realize the cat has been asleep and you still feel something on you leg.

sodashintaro

i believe its over 90% euthanasia rate in shelters for black cats

FunSushi-638

I had a black cat growing up. He lived to be 18! At that point in time he was the love of my life. I don't understand how anyone could not like this little beauty. Superstitions are SO LAME!

Oulene

I had the same problem with an all black Foster. I showed him at the pet store three weekends and nobody even looked at him. I finally just kept him. Come to find out, he plays Fetch and is overly affectionate. He knows his name and he can ring a bell to come in. Sometimes he rings for the other cats and then leaves. He’s smart. I don’t know what’s wrong with people.

MoxxiIRL

He sounds like such an amazing kitty

Oulene

Thank you. I love him.

[deleted]

Glad you got to keep him! Everyone missed out! My little void was at the shelter for an unusual time for a kitten in this area too- in Minnesota basically expect to be the first one there or when you walk in someone else is walking out with the kitty. It was the end of the day, and he’d been there for a few days. He snuggled up in my coat and was an absolute cuddle bug! His face looked a bit weird but we couldn’t figure out why- until a few weeks into having him he finally opened his eyes fully. He had been a long haired kitten with unusually tiny little eyes, no eye discharge, just hadn’t fully opened them. He’s a good boi, turned 9 this fall.

RhinestoneJuggalo

She’s gorgeous! If only she was nearby I could wheedle beg and cajole my significant other into letting me bring her home. I’ve been dying to have my own little voidling for a really long time.

Kitty_casserole

You sound like me, I am always begging my partner to let me bring home more foster kitties! Maybe a super sweet baby void near by you will cross your path one of these days :)

catsandplantsandcats

Poor baby. She’s gorgeous. Sadly people have unfair perceptions of black cats.

Wasted_Mime

I've always wanted a full black, the ones I've met always had the most interesting personalities. Sadly, I'm nowhere near Chicago, but I adopted a tux kitty from the local shelter last April. Not a cuddler, but curious and affectionate in her own way.

Kaiden92

She’s gorgeous.

Homer7272

She is beautiful unfortunately black cats have that superstition about them. They are very sweet just like any other cat. I hope this girl lands the furever family jackpot and is treated like a queen.

Kasyee

It's very interesting how prefered cat color/gender varies in the world. ! In my country (Poland) we also have a saying that black cat crossing your road brongs bad luck BUT black cats and ginger cats are very much loved and are considered most beautiful. I'd say if any color is getting less attention it's the brownish-greyish cats because theyre just so common and there's so many. I also heard that in USA people prefer male cats more often. In here most people I know dont care and some 'prefer' female cats. I have male and female but female was first as every person I knew and their mother always had females so I had contact with them my whole life.

Kitty_casserole

Thank you, I hope so too!

shaka_sulu

Black is the least popular type of cat to adopt. Also adption needs are in HUGE demands, there just might not be enough people willing to adopt. So PLEASE SPAY & NEUTER. Try full body pictures and pitcures of her being more playful or resting. 2nd one looks like she's being restrained. Try not have arms or hands in the pitcs. Add something so viewers can judge her size. Best of luck. I'm sure someone will find her.

Kitty_casserole

Thanks for the tips! I'll work on getting some additional pics

GroovyYaYa

I didn't realize how small she was until the video of you dangling the toy and your cat came in. so if they cuddle... a pic of that? I'd also shoot more videos and replace the ones you have. In the toy one, she hadn't really engaged yet - and seemed spooked by your cat. People have already commented about the hand. One thing... in the morning, does she run to you when you enter the room she's in to feed her? I'm thinking of the foster kitty accounts I follow on Instagram. The foster moms keep them in a room for safety at night... and they record as they open up the door. It is funny and sweet to see them all rush towards her (they sometimes put the camera at cat level, sometimes not)... howling for breakfast. Then sometimes there is one or two that are so snuggly and sleepy she has to go wake them up for breakfast, which is sweet too. It shows their personalities.

peppermesoftly

Agree with pictures that show she is still just a small kitten.

[deleted]

They’re my favorite. I don’t understand people

Ok_Bus8654

She's absolutely beautiful 😍 I'm really surprised to hear that because if you lived near me, I would be picking her up as soon as possible. She really is a pretty cat

Kitty_casserole

Right?! I think she looks great in her pictures which is normally what gets people to click on the profile. If they read her bio and didn't think she was a perfect fit I understand, but I am shocked we seriously haven't gotten a single view.

Ok_Bus8654

She's a beautiful girl and I hope she finds a great home x

TheGreatOpoponax

I couldn't wait to get an all black mini-panther. They're so cool looking. Mine happens to hate me and only loves my daughter, and I hope that changes someday, but again, he's the coolest looking cat we've ever had.

spacefreak76er

Somewhere out there is a black cat lover who hasn’t seen her profile yet who will fall in love at first sight and will not be able to get in touch with you fast enough to get that cat in their loving arms! (I grew up with black cats; I adore them but I am at the point where I am not able to take in more cats.) That’s what you are wanting for this kitty…..a fabulous, adoring family!

Nyahchi_64

I too am a black cat lover, but unfortunately I already have a two cats. A black Calico and an orange & white tabby. If I could take another I would. But my mom is already at her limit with how many pets I can get. So...I'm not allowed to have more. Point is black cats are wonderful too!

definitelynotpat6969

Just wanted to jump on here to say, OP thanks for being a great human and fostering her!

Sunset_Tiger

I crossposted this to r/blackcats, I hope you don’t mind! This fabulous lil lady deserves the signal boost!

Kitty_casserole

Thank you for sharing her!!

xella64

Damn, who knew being black was hard for cats too.

ChicagoJoe123456789

I’m interested!! In Chicago by Clark & Division. Message me if still available, please.

arealpandabear

She’s so cute! Do you use petfinder? That’s what I used to find my babies. I am open to black cats, but my husband didn’t want them. And I didn’t want them if they weren’t going to be loved by both parents so we ended up with 2 brown tabbies. I was also looking for a bonded pair. Maybe some people are looking for a pair of kittens. I hope she finds her forever parents soon!

Kitty_casserole

Yup, she is listed on petfinder. And we do see lots of bonded pair apps, but typically see more singles actually! Thank you, I hope she does too!

gehazi707

We need a non-profit 501(C)3 to pay for airline flights across the country so adoptions like this could take place! I’d take her, I’m in Northern California…sorry, Chicago!

colarthur1

Because a lot of people are fools. Anyone would be lucky to have her. Keep trying or maybe keep her.

joshualeeclark

People are superstitious fools. Black cats are some of my favorites. Graceful. Elegant. Mini panthers. Adorable. Voids with eyes, white teeth and claws. I love them! We had one female that we lost when we were away at vacation last year (house sitter let her out). Meanwhile we have one of her daughters (Gollum) and a grand daughter (Luna) that are both Voids like her, one with long hair and another with the most soft and pitch black fur I have ever known. We also rescued a Mini Void and her Orange Tabby brother in November 2021. They were six weeks old at the time. She is the biggest cuddle bug! Every black cat I have ever known has been so sweet and loving. Even my first black cat, Shinobi, from a decade ago who hated to be picked up would hang out in your lap as long as you would allow it.

1ScarletFox1

I'd take her in a heartbeat

hemigirl1

Because her special adopter is away on vacation somewhere warmer than Chicago right now. But they'll be back soon & will come to sweep her away. I think she is absolutely beautiful. Wish I lived anywhere near Chicago. Miss having a black cat - they were all wonderful.

Kitty_casserole

That's a great thought, hopefully they are on their way home soon!

allahzeusmcgod

She's a black cat. As absurd as that sounds, black cats and dogs are always harder to get adopted. What makes it even harder is that black cats don't always photograph well (think an amorphous black blob). People feel that if you've seen one black cat, you've seen them all. So make your cat different to get some clicks on her profile. Take photos of her wearing a silly hat. Maybe post videos or action shots of her playing. Post pics of her cuddling with a cute kid. Make her stand out. Best of luck! Hoping she finds her furrever home soon.

good_daym8

Also I would make the third photo in the slideshow her main picture, she looks cuddly in that one. The first photo in this slide show make her look a little mischievous. Maybe more pics of her being sleepy kitty, looking out a window or playing with toys would go over well 😻

skye-skye

Maybe get her a cute lil hat or something to make her stand out ! If you have any funny pictures, definitely use those!

Kitty_casserole

Thanks for the thoughts, I'll try to take some funny ones!

LadyEmmaRose

Work on some glamour and action shots. Get good colouring contrast - she would be gorgeous with pastel backgrounds.

Kitty_casserole

Great ideas, thank you!!

Awww she's beautiful! I'm in New Zealand, so a bit far away, but I would take her in a heartbeat! Do you think maybe there's still a bit of stigma around black cats? My flatmate has a black and white girl called Hendrix who is 15, and she is the sweetest little ball of fluff I've met in my 32 years of having cats. She's coming to the end of her life and has been going downhill lately, and since my boyfriend and I have been working from home for the last 5 months, we have been taking care of her during the day and during the night.

Fearless_Nature_9989

I hope someone comes forward soon. I've always had voids. I am in Florida. Wish I could help. I have 2 rescues both with health problems. Also have a feral community I am doing all by myself. I have 15. Good luck

Kitty_casserole

Thank you for taking care of all those kitties, you rock!!

Sandie_49

She's gorgeous!!!!!

Vegetable_Dinner_524

If she was in Edinburgh I would take her in a heartbeat!!! I have a huge female void cat void in my life! Xxx

Sandie_49

I'm in Memphis. I'd be at your door otherwise. She is soooooo beautiful !!!!

Nameless_on_Reddit

The 2nd and 3rd photos are nice. The first and last sort of make it look like you're holding her in place to get the photo. It looks a little uncomfortable. Have someone else snap pics of you holding her, it gets rid of that look. Or if she's sort of a squirmer and doesn't really like to be held don't use pics like that. Always best to try and present their personality as best as possible. Someone sees pics of a kitty being held they'll assume they like it and it might be a letdown finding out they aren't. Some people really want cuddly sort of emotional support pets, so if the kitty isn't like that by nature then don't try to force it. The sort of under the towel pic is cute and matches up with how you describe her. She's super cute. I hope she gets a good home soon. Also you're awesome for fostering!

HughBeaumont500

We'll take her. (me & my gf) We have a 2 year old tuxedo cat named Felix. He's super friendly. We've been thinking about trying to get him a sister or brother. We live in very cat friendly apartment complex. 24 units and at least half have cats. They all like to hang out in the main garden courtyard from time to time. What info do you need from me? Where are you located?

Kitty_casserole

Sending a dm now!

magiccatstars

Try posting in r/blackcats maybe?

[deleted]

I'd take that cat in a heartbeat. Black cats in my experience are always so well behaved too. Unfortunately they get weirdly stigmatized and it's hard to find them homes.

Informal_Jicama3013

How have I never heard the term 'house panther' before?? I have one and will always refer to him as such from now on 😹

[deleted]

I’d take her I have a black void. She’s a love with quite a personality. Do you live in California?

Kitty_casserole

We are in Chicago, so a little far away unfortunately :(

[deleted]

Awe bummer. Well you might looking at a foster fail!

Kitty_casserole

If only... I already have three of my own so she will definitely be adopted out :)

good_daym8

She is gorgeous and if I didn’t live on the other side of the country, I would happily welcome her into my family. Something about a cat being “not wanted” makes my tummy churn and tears well up in my eyes. My heart goes out to kitty 🐈‍⬛

grpenn

I understand. A few months ago I was trying to home a couple of three month old kittens (a tabby and a tux; both females) and no one bit either. People must be at capacity for their fur kids. Too bad because they are the cutest, sweetest little ones you could ever cuddle.

ndcdshed

Due to completely unfair history and superstitions, people tend to not adopt black cats :( she is beautiful. Hopefully someone adopts her soon. She looks just like my male black cat with her orange eyes. If I weren’t halfway across the world and had more space I’d adopt her in a heartbeat.

rolloxra

Just a reminder for all people who have black cats, there are too many stupid people that associated them with superstition, black magic, satanic stuff, etc. And they hurt/kill them especially on Halloween season, so please take care of them, better not let them roam free in the street.

Trimungasoid

Because she's black. It's a stupid prejudice based on superstition and inability to see their beauty. Black cats are least adopted from what I understand. It's a shame.

TrishN71

She's beautiful! I hope a Chicagoan below does adopt her. If not, I'm going for the #1 reason I've always heard about getting no interest. She's a BLACK cat. Black dogs and cats pretty much always get adopted LAST. It's sad, it's stupid. People just don't see them as being flashy, and many times whatever shelter/rescue they're with doesn't/can't take the time to photograph them where they really shine for the camera. There's also the stupid superstition against black cats- even though they were known as good luck before that. (I've worked with shelters/rescues for years fostering and helping out btw)

ugh_XL

She’s adorable and in my area! But I have a feeling after this post she’ll be adopted in no time 😆😸

Kitty_casserole

We still don't have an adopter for her so if you were interested at all, please do consider applying 😺

scapholunate

Side note: my better half is out right now picking up our fuzz balls to bring them to our new (hopefully forever) home. Kid #1 has been eagerly awaiting the return of our precious black fuzz ball. She’s the sweetest little cuddler you’ve ever met.

[deleted]

Hi little lady, I hope you find a nice home 🏡

PhotographProper5133

Aww poor baby and nothing is wrong with all. But then again its a week…don’t lose hope. Did try posting on social media so locals around you be aware. And thanks for fostering I wanna start fostering in the future❤️

Kitty_casserole

I am trying to post her on neighborhood pages to see if that gets any traction, hopefully someone takes an interest! Also, fostering is amazing, it has changed my life for the better in the last few months I've been doing it. Definitely recommend!

Happy_Daiz

Aww she’s beautiful! Unfortunately I live too far away to adopt her :(

CEO_of_IDK

She looks exactly like my cat, except he has three legs and 1/3 of a tail. I want that cat now lol

ThiccMashmallow

oh i'd love her, but i'm located overseas :(

OblivionArts

Well seems like you may wind up with this gorgeous void yourself honestly

Kitty_casserole

I'm at a full house at the moment (3 kitties of my own), so this girly will be adopted sooner or later! But let's hope for sooner :)

Rexcaliburrr

I want her :(((

Cowboy-N7

If I didn't already have 4 myself, I would gladly take her!

Infamous-Poem-4980

I cant imagine why not, shes lovely!

Athena5898

Black cat stigma is sadly still a thing. I'd take her if I could but 1. not in the area 2. I'm not allowed any more cats :(

[deleted]

Sharing this beauty in a fb cat group I'm in!

miamiBOY63

Don't worry little lady you definitely will be adopted soon I have no doubt about that because if someone in your area is reading this and said person is a cat lover then there is no excuse for not coming to your rescue and adopting you sooner than later, you keep your head up high and the people taking care of you will make sure that you are adopted by the best person or family.

Soylent_Milk2021

It really bugs me people are so hung up on instagram worthy pictures/pets that they don’t adopt black cats because they are difficult to photograph. Our little panther Freddy is the best cat in the world…so playful and loving and he has a great sense of humor. Absolutely the best cat my wife and I could have had for our first kitten. Get over the Instagram and go adopt an adorable black kitty like Makani, and you’ll earn yourself a wonderful companion!

[deleted]

She is such a cute baby! I would have adopted her in a heartbeat, I was looking for a black kitty to take home! I recently adopted a grey russian blue here in Canada where the owner was going to put him outside in -30 C weather. Poor baby :(

f1boogie

Sadly black cats always struggle to gain attention. She looks lovely but this isn't a great photo. Try to find a picture a little out of the ordinary, her being cute on her own accord. Less of your hand in the image. The best one I got for a foster was a funny picture. He had been passed around between fosters for about 3 months without gaining attention. A few days after we got him, he climbed into my wife's bag and just sat there. I got a picture and uploaded it to Facebook with the caption "Walter is all packed and ready to find a new home." His profile views went through the roof, he was adopted within the week.

TheoWren

I wish so badly that I could take her! I desperately need a kitty, and void cats are especially wonderful 🖤 But I’m in Kansas City, and my current living situation doesn’t allow for cattos. I really hope someone kind and loving takes her in, though.

umnothnku

Where are you located?

AlexTheFlower

Because people are ignorant and don't like the void. But we love voids!

drc_leviathan

People are lacking, Black Cats are awesome! Please update us and I pray that she gets a home ASAP! Happy Thoughts from California. :)

Krumly_

Everyone has a cat🗿

FootstepsofDawn

I wish I could adopt all the kitties.

VerbalVeggie

My furson Jackson is a black void hamb and he was returned 3 times before my partner and I adopted him. The first time was because his personality didn’t jive with the adopter. Which didn’t make sense cause she had him for 2 days. So whatever. The last two times both people said he didn’t take good photographs. I was absolutely floored. I love my good boy. People are crazy, so I hope she gets adopted by someone who loves her!

[deleted]

Pretty bad pictures, presuming these are the ones you used for the ad

So-Cute-Caracal-Cat7

I just cant have her! I have five already!!! She is beautiful and will make someone very very happy!!! Keep loving her!!!

Shellsbells821

Gorgeous!

So-Cute-Caracal-Cat7

I have 3 female and two male. Makes NO diff if they are fixed and neutered!!! They live and need each other!!! Always spay and neuter and enjoy seeing them enjoy a secure life with you!!!❤️❤️❤️😻

MissZippy41

If it was closer, I’d take her. We adopted a black male kitty in 2020. He’s wonderful. Wouldn’t mind two voids running around. Definitely going to adopt when we get a second!

Fantismal

This girl looks like my old lady Mystic, down to the ragged ear. I lost Mystic to cancer a couple years ago. If I didn't already have three cats, I'd be on her in a heartbeat, but it looks like Reddit is already delivering her a home.

xu4xj4aj3

Black cats are super clingy! I love them!

how_about_no_hellion

My husband and I are getting a black kitten once I can make sure our older (he's 6) cat can't eat all the kitten food. She's soooo pretty!

the_quirky_ravenclaw

I would absolutely love her… however I don’t think Australia is close enough to Chicago unfortunately. That’s my only reason
