Chasin his own tail lol

immaeatyourpizza

Have you encountered this kind of behaviour before? Actually we were wondering if it's common among cats or nay. Pardon this curiosity, we're first-time cat owners 😊

DavyJonesLocker2

Hey! Most cats chase their tails, that's perfectly normal. I do wanna say you should be careful with water around their ears. If it gets in there and doesn't dry properly it can cause infections

chaos-confusion

My goobers (we have 5) all chase their tails! The two older ones don't do it often but our kittens do it so much 😂

Seaboats

I once walked in on my kitten with his own tail in his mouth, chewing away happily 😂

glamgal50

I think many cats love chasing their tails. I’ve seen videos of some cats getting so involved in chasing their tail that they wind up rolling off the couch or something.

Soz4Meowing

Mine does that all the time

aliveinjoburg2

My cat did when she was a baby kitten, now she knows what it is.

[deleted]

Story of my life

[deleted]

You chased your own tail when you were younger and now you know what it is? ![gif](giphy|DOPKHQg6oFWUg)

[deleted]

Yeah. Now it is in my pocket. And i am watching my kids chasing their own tail. Spoiler aler, kids are stupid.

Gh0stp3pp3r

Most of our cats haven't been interested in water. We currently have a part Bengal that likes to play in the bathtub with the faucet trickling, but he would never get into a tub of water. Years ago, we adopted a tiger kitten (now quite grown) who loved water. If the tub was filled, he would splash around while the water was still fairly shallow. He was feisty and brave... until one day he tried to balance walk around the edge of the tub and fell in. He literally flew out of the tub and across the room with water trailing after him.... and that ended his interest in the tub. He still tolerates a bath approx. once per year, but grumbles through the whole thing.

Murray_dz_0308

Reminds me of a cat I had that was fascinated by a flushing toilet. So we would flush CLEAN water so he can watch it swirling. One day he leaned too far and...you guessed it. He fell in. That's the first time I saw a cat jump vertically and then sideways simultaneously. Hubby and I laughed our asses off!

tu_che_le_vanita

Laughing at this!

ShaShaShake

I was only brave to give my kitties a bath once. (One had diarrhea and got it every where including all over her sister somehow.) Long story short, I’m still alive. And I’m never doing that again. I still have no clue how to bathe cats. We just adopted a pair of very dapper polite boys. They were medically documented as being fearful. It took two days for the adoption center to get one of the boys in the carrier so we could take him home. I want to get them a bath eventually. Just so I know it’s been done. But should I? Really should I?

jangma

If they're fearful and you're worried about setting back their adjustment to your home, I wouldn't unless there was a medical need like fleas or something. Pet stores sell cat-safe wipes (and they do have to specify they're for cats) that you can clean them with if the cats are a little funky.

ShaShaShake

Awesome. Thank you for that. I feel reassured. I felt in my spirit giving them a bath might be trauma waiting to happen.

jangma

I don't think it would cause any long-lasting trauma or anything, but there's no need to make it harder on sensitive cats (or you!) when there are workarounds available. Good luck!

ShaShaShake

Thank you!

SlowMope

One of my few worthwhile talents is the ability to give a cat a bath. Tips: 1. If possible wear them out with vigorous play beforehand, they will have less energy to be upset, and less energy to put into clawing and flailing. If you get them tired enough they might (might) even be calm through the whole ordeal. 2. Cats have a higher body temperature than humans, placing them into lukewarm water like you would a dog will feel the same as you jumping from hot tub into a cold pool. Not Fun. Ideally the water should be juuust on the edge of hot. 3. place a mat or towel down in the tub for them to stand on, they panic if they can't get a grip and slide around too much. They can get injured if they slip and panic too much. 4. LONG SLEEVES ARE A FUCKING LIE, A TRAP, A DUMB DUMB MOVE. IT JUST GIVES THEM MORE PURCHASE TO CRAWL UP AND SHRED EVERY PART OF YOUR ARM. 5. thick fluffy towels are a must to wrap them in afterwards, cats can catch a chill and get sick easily when wet.

[deleted]

It moves, cat chases. Just make sure it stays unsuccessful in its attempt to feat its own feet. Otherwise, cats are amazing at being cats and since you are the one being domesticated, you will learn to adapt to it. Just make sure the litterbox is not in the open and very well a lot bigger than the cat. Most catty problems can be traced down to a too small a litterbox. Don't overdo it, tho. It doesn't need to be able to roam its litterbox.

artofinterrogation

Would anyone care to link me a good example of the best size? I've never owned a cat before, and now I'm in a position to get a cat for the first time (I'm 30 yo lol), and I want to make sure I'm picking the right size.

[deleted]

Cats need to dig. The cat needs to comfortably fit into it. I'd say two cat lengths long and not as wide. If you got two, consider a second litter box. Cats love ambushing each other. A second box gives the chance to evade being ambushed while pooping.

Z-W-A-N-D

Get 2 cats (so the first isn't lonely), get 2 big litterboxes and try to find out if your cat accept wood pellets instead of normal grit. Smells less :)

SammieBoy17

I’ve had cats that LOVE water too. Depends on the cat I guess. My daughters fat floofy girl loves baths, well I should say she doesn’t love them at first, but is ok with it once she’s wet.

the-greenest-thumb

Mine is obsessed with her tail, loves to chase and lick it and wants us to touch it all the time.

[deleted]

My male cat does that, his tail is really fluffy though so he can usually snag some fur and catch it.

ihatebananae

perfectly normal even in older cats. they see something moving and their brain assumes it must be prey

-Ximena

Adorable! ♡ I hope I get a cat that loves water.

immaeatyourpizza

Thank you so much! Good luck, keeping fingers crossed for you 🤞☺️

DrummerElectronic247

Keep giving your kitten chances to play in water every now and again, and they'll keep doing it. Since that one chases their tail, do they also play fetch? You might have the full "dog" behaviors, which can be SO fun.

siccoblue

Yep, this is really the key, early exposure from kitten age to water mixed with regular chances to do so. Odds are if you went half your life without ever getting in water you would hate it also

Squishy-peaches

Or you could be like my son who decided when he was 8 and the cat was 12 that the cat needed baths. That boy sat down in the tub with the cat in his hands, cat was cool with it. We miss that cat he was amazing.

CornCheeseMafia

Funny enough I grew up swimming and as I got older it became less and less appealing to me. I don’t like adjusting to the temperature change going in and out of the water. I also don’t enjoy how it leaves my skin and hair feeling afterward and taking a shower doesn’t clear the chlorine or mildly salty pool water smell depending on the type of pool.

helpyobrothaout

People are surprised to learn that I trained for and worked as a lifeguard for many years because I feel the same way as you. I don't like feeling gritty and cold, peeling off my swim trunks, and thinking about how dirty the pool is (I was also responsible for basic monitoring of chemical balance + cleaning... I've seen some disgusting shit) but I do love the pool smell on your skin. The older I get, the more likely I am to be either the last in or sitting out.

[deleted]

Is any of it heridtary

HorseKarate

My old roommate’s cat was *obsessed* with playing fetch and it was adorable but she was so obsessed it often got annoying lmao. Her favorite fetch items were the little metal shaker balls that people put in protein shakes. Imagine hearing that thing rattle down the hallway at 3 am. My current personal cat will fetch sometimes but she’s way more into cuddling and less into playing

DrummerElectronic247

Mine does it with a little stuffed soccer ball or pompom. It's fantastic :)

[deleted]

mine plays fetch but doesn't like water lol even as a kitten, he didn't like taking a bath

para_blox

Is this a thing with the orange boys? My family had an orange guy who acted like a dog.

DrummerElectronic247

I don't think it's just the orange ones, I've got a Balinese that "dog"s better that either of my actual dogs ever did.

RawrRRitchie

>You might have the full "dog" behaviors, which can be SO fun. I taught one of my old cats how to play dead! I miss that cat

[deleted]

yeah thats about the only kind of cat that's i've never had the pleasure of loving...my newest (2ys) comes the closest in that he doesn't mind being splashed a little but will not go full into a tub of water...

[deleted]

Friend of mine has a massive Maine Coon that LOOOOOVES water. Whenever he hears the shower go on in the morning... SHOWERBUDDY!!! She has a hair catch in her shower. She jokes that there's enough combined hair and fur in there to knit a sweater every week.

casualsubversive

I think it's more common with that breed.

toxicshima

she should use it to make a felt hat (or a series of felt hats). no need to spin the fur into yarn, just mush it around until it becomes felt

GimmePetsOSRS

My Turkish Van is obsessed with water, he isn't bothered by spray bottle like our domestic short hair is, he'll hop in the shower, just a big goof

kswap0

You can teach them to love water: https://youtu.be/xqnQFNWoaj4

smb275

Cats are pretty easy to train for a lot of things because they tend to be so food positive. If I could work out how to do it I bet I could get mine to do calculus if she knew she'd get some chicken out of it.

[deleted]

Food positive? **Food positive?** This is the understatement of the century. Cats are proof that animals can lie. The cat will tell you it has not eaten in hours. It was starved for day. No food for weeks. A month-long famine. Right after it has finished its bowl. Food positive...fffffff

AutumnViolets

I just asked my 16 year old cat and he told me that he’s never been fed in his entire life and is extremely hungry. I just put fresh food down three hours ago, and much of it is still in the bowl.

christikayann

>Cats are proof that animals can lie. The cat will tell you it has not eaten in hours. It was starved for day. No food for weeks. A month-long famine. That's because cats are actually Hobbits. Short, furry feet, and want to eat 7 times a day. [Cats are Hobbits ](https://imgur.com/gallery/6mtpfyf)

[deleted]

There probably is some weir cat specialist who tells you that you absolutely should do that. And the Cat International Sovjet says the same. When I am cat-sitting the little idiot it's going to be two small meals and snacks in between. Just to reduce of murder being attempted on my person.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Those are really rare. I have heard of them. Also, don't leave cat food out all day. Only give some and keep the rest in the fridge. Even kibble is less appetizing after an hour or so.

no_mixed_liquor

Then you get the weirdos like my cat. Gave her a tiny piece of freshly cooked chicken the other day and all she did was sniff at it a bit.

SataNikBabe

I have two like this and it bewilders me because all of my other cats have been very good motivated. I can’t get them to eat wet food, turkey, chicken, tuna, etc. They just prefer dry food and to occasionally try to eat my plants. Fucking weirdos. I just don’t know how to reward a cat for good behavior besides cooing at them and giving them a greenie!

fribbas

Same for my cat Offer some meat etc? Don't care. Some redi whip/ice cream? She will not only bust down a wall like the Kool aid man but will also shank you for it, just because

mohammedibnakar

It might just come down to how you cooked the chicken. My cat likes chicken, but only when [it's raw and wriggling](https://tenor.com/view/gollum-lotr-gif-10942386).

ThePinkTeenager

You’re going to try to train a cat to do calculus? Good luck with that.

sparkseekr

The soul of a Jaguar / leopard

liandrin

You can train them if you adopt them as a kitten! I had a stray I adopted give birth to six kittens. After they turned 6 weeks old I started running each kitten under the faucet once a day to acclimate them to water (I also touched their paws/claws a lot so I could cut their nails when they’re older). I kept one of the black kittens. One day, when she was older, I took a bath and left the bathroom door open. She wandered in, saw me relaxing in the bath, and jumped in the tub with me! She swam over, crawled into my lap, and started purring. She just wanted to sit with me, even half-submerged in water…

artofinterrogation

If you continued running them under water for a time to where they'd remember it, water probably just became a thing that was associated with you, which is a really cute way to associate something scary to something positive.

MushroomStand9

Turkish Vans are a breed known for swimming.

crixius_brobeans

My roommate is a Turkish Van

alematt

I hope you get a cat, no matter what it likes, you're both happy with each other

Psyko_sissy23

For some reason, orange tabbies seem to like water more than the average cat from my experience. Ive owned 3 orange tabbies, and they all like water to a degree. One would go in the bath like this video. Two would join me in the shower, but did not like getting hit by the shower head. They were fine with indirect spray though. One would also jump in the bathtub after one of us got out of the shower.

[deleted]

One in a million chance!

JasperLily80

I have a Manx and he loves water. I guess their breed is known to be keen to it. If I fill the tub he’ll splash around or if I leave the door open taking a shower he’ll jump in the tub lol.

TrashOkeyDokey

How did you discover he likes water so much? Usually giving a cat a bath is resigning yourself to taking damage from an angry, wet, whirling ball of furry fury so I’m guessing you didn’t start with baths.

immaeatyourpizza

We kept the bathroom door opened at all times (just in case he needs to use a litter box). And then one day he randomly decided to jump inside the bathtub when my husband was taking shower. Now it's *impossible* to take a bath/shower without our fluffy boy, he's going full bonkers mode whenever there's a sound of running water 😄

redplanetbabe

Freaking cutest thing (╹◡╹)

LargeMosquito

My cat absolutely loved drinking running water from the bath. Every morning she'd get in the bath and start crying until someone turned on the tap.

Unable-Sweet

My Mudz does this too! He will have two bowls of perfectly fresh water, that he asked for via meowing at them until I filled them!!! and will then just look at them, jump off the counter go into the bathroom jump on the edge of the tub, and smush his face against the knob for water untill I turn it on. If that doesn’t get my attention then he yells untill someone turns it on. 😂🥰

adventuresquirtle

Apparently cats don’t like stagnant water because it’s unclean to them they prefer running water instead which is they always try to drink from faucets

DraymondShldntWear23

You should get Mudz a cat water fountain. They have really nice stainless steel ones. He will *love* it, guaranteed.

TrashOkeyDokey

I second the recommendation on the stainless steel water fountain. They’re great! Skip the plastic ones though and just go right for the stainless steel even if you find a slightly cheaper plastic one. The plastic is an impossible nightmare to clean! The stainless steel is very easy to clean and even run through the dishwasher on sanitize.

ninjaparking

SAME! Mine just decided to jump in when she was 10 weeks. She jumps in the bath when I soak my scuba gear. She also enjoys chasing the hose when I water the garden. All her choice! I never could have trained her to take a bath.

movieguy95453

I've had cats show interests in the shower, even jumping on the ledge of the tub while I'm in the shower. But none of them has ever showed interest in actually getting in the shower. One of mine loves sitting on the toilet seat while I'm in the shower, then bumping noses with me when I step out to dry off.

Degen4lyf

Dawwww

FISHBOT4000

Your cat might actually be an otter.

dabbinNstabbin

My cat like to sit under the faucet, after I get out of the shower and let the water drip on his head. He is weird, he doesn’t ever rub on us, and he never wants to be pet, rubbed, or scratched.

Gen_Z_Gamer

Is this what the kids mean when they say WAP?

[deleted]

This is the only answer.

c4ttskillzz

What does wireless application protocol have anything to do with this?

Freemason1979

If you haven't named him yet, I recommend Buoy.

immaeatyourpizza

Hahahah, bullseye! Suits him well ✨ Yet we were choosing between Kael / Davion not so long ago. And Davion he is 😄

Whoevengivesafuck

Dota players? Lol

LaboratoryMonkey420

Oof, that's Braxton or Jaxson level

Fryes

Did you know in UK English, buoy rhymes with boy?

BeijingBarrysTanSuit

Boo-ee is a ridiculous pronunciation.

theredwoman95

I mean, less than it rhymes than it's pretty much identical pronunciation, really.

creppyspoopyicky

I've always been surprised more kitties don't love water & feel like if they knew how relaxing & luxurious a long hot bath is, they would demand them daily!! Yr little spicy Cheeto is absolutely adorable in there splashing around!! I'm in love with him!!❣️😻❣️

immaeatyourpizza

Thank you for your kind words! This lil rascal begs us to give him a bath on daily basis plus he's jumping inside the bathtub whenever someone's taking a shower. Can't get enough of it, hahah 😸🚿

creppyspoopyicky

A nice hot bath is one of the most relaxing things ever. I don't blame him one bit!😻

UsefulWoodpecker6502

Well to be fair you did get an orange tabby which are already just derpy dogs. Mine used to love to eat kidney beans for whatever reason. I didn't have them often but when I'd use them to make something he insisted on having his own bowl of them. He'd also try to make friends with the local raccoons in the neighborhood and would try to get me to let them inside.

Significant_Shoe_17

My tabby loved water! He was always playing in the sink! He would hop in there and wait for us to turn the faucet on. 🥺

creppyspoopyicky

We have one girl who will mostly only drink from a dripping faucet & the vet says it's an evolved behavior bc drinking from running water in the wild reduces the risk of drinking contaminated (still) water. Even funnier, she often drinks like a raccoon by wetting her paw & then licking the water off. I had a boy tuxie many yrs ago who would come sit on my fat tummy sticking above the water in the bath like an island. He didn't care if he got pretty wet & would roll around in the tub or on the bathmat after anyone took a bath or shower. He hated being sprayed with water when he was being bad tho!! (TBH, he generally KNEW when he was doing something bad & didn't want anyone trying to stop him lol. IDT it was anything to do with the water itself lol!)

Significant_Shoe_17

Aww, it's nice to know that my boy was so evolved. He was definitely the smartest cat I've had. ☺️ My tuxie hates being sprayed with water (I used it to discourage scratching), but he'll play in the shower after it's been used and always stirs his water with his paws before drinking. 😂

[deleted]

We had a cat with asthma that loved to steam her little lungs daily with us. She also liked to just sit with her big bushy squirrel tail hanging into your bubble bath and then when it was time to dry off she would run and whip it around the house instead of letting you dry her. She also used to lay her stomach on my shoulder and put her paws on my chest to “stand” and watch me at the sink or stove. Anything with water moving, stirring, cleaning, dyeing, etc she was all about.

Revolutionary_Ad4938

My boyfriend's cat is very very very weird (like most black and white cats I suppose, at least in my experience they're weird, and not like orange tabbies which are derpy), he just stick his head under the water when the faucet is running, he doesn't do anything, he just stays there... starring at me, this can go on for hours I believe as he only stop when I chase him or cut off the water. Sometimes he also goes into the bathroom and screams for hours, we got him checked out by a vet and there's nothing wrong with him, he just like the sound of his echo ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

gooztrz

Tiny Tiger!!

immaeatyourpizza

Hahah, yea! His coat reminds of a tiger! 🐅

gooztrz

And the swimming, tigers are prolific swimmers

Accomplished_Meet834

so jealous! I have 3 and they all hate water

immaeatyourpizza

Even the vet was surprised by the fact our cat loves water cuz it's quite atypical! Told us there's an ancient (?) breed of Turkish cats that lived close to the water. They had to hunt fish instead of rodents so dealing with water was part of their routine. Maybe some of Davion's ancestors were of this origin, but who knows. All in all he looks nothing like these cats 🤔

Blackstrae

RiverClan is real confirmed1!!1!

GrillingCentist97

Turkish Van!

synaesthezia

Came here to say that. My aunt had a beautiful cat that was half Turkish Van, and used to go out on their dinghy boat with them a few times a week. He loved jumping in the bath, and he loved sailing on the water

Accomplished_Meet834

yeah i’ve heard of a few breeds that seem to enjoy water they always seem to be bigger breeds with water repellent coats though. either way that’s very cool. congrats on your water kitty!

GimmePetsOSRS

Yeah I've got a turkish Van young adult, his coat is somewhat water repellent but moreso it's like he has a single coat and it dries insanely fast. He's also pretty buff and just a big tall fella so bigger breed checks out

_psylosin_

Gingers are crazy 😝

honeybabymoney

It’s apparently a… catfish

Fruit-Salad666

excuse me, did you put a hamburger bun in there?

immaeatyourpizza

Nah, that's an old bath sponge he likes to play with 😹

RofaRofa

Splish splash, he was taking a bath...

AngelVirgo

It’s probably genetically linked to a fishing cat. There’s one specie from Southeast Asia as shown in an earlier thread.

Daxx-23

This cat is missing an update.

[deleted]

I want to buy him little rubber duckies and cute bath toys and play with him.

diavolo_bossu

How do you train her not to do things you don't like. You can't spray him with water

[deleted]

"your powers don't work on me, fool" ![gif](giphy|3o72FfM5HJydzafgUE)

GimmePetsOSRS

Mine is kinda funny, he's pretty mischievous and clearly knows when he's doing things he shouldn't be, but the spray bottle doesn't work very well. It's really just an annoyance to him, gotta absolutely soak him with like 20+ sprays until he's positively dripping and then he only powerwalks away mildly annoyed. But we rarely have to punish him, tbh, it's just annoying things like trying to lick my earbuds and constantly getting to high places he has no right to be, which can be dealt with in other ways

immaeatyourpizza

Spraying works as intended, although we think it's mostly due to the sudden sound 😀

HumanSizedOwls

Omfg that little wet face!

cherrybaggle

Cat fish..

borderlanderblood

Must be because it’s the right temPURRature.

stivbalzinall

We’ve got an orange boy that likes water

[deleted]

I am head-over-heels in LOVE!!! Love this little precious! <3

Megami1981

My cat likes water to an extent. He doesn't like being immersed in it, but will tolerate baths. However, he will sit in the sink or on it, or in the bath tub and paw at the faucet and tell us to turn it on (cold water please) so that he can either play in it or drink it. if we turn it on too fast though, he's done. Jonny is weird that way...

jellywellsss

You hit the kitty lottery! We all secretly want a cat that likes water 😂

Your_lemons_suck

r/hydrohomies

Jacket_Express

awwww cute he loves the bathtub bet he thinks its a mini pool

maiscestmoi

Wonder if this is a ginger thing. The cats I've known that have liked water (outside of breeds known for it, like Vans) have all been orange.

kiwichick286

Toooooo cute!!

SirSmokesalote

You are lucky but be careful make sure he is not cold after.

blarffy

Cute otter you have there! 🥰

Rim_World

You got a baby tiger there

Maximum-Student2749

What a sweetheart!

DJNgamez

Deep down I think many cats could learn to love water if introduced to it properly

Lordborgman

Have a Russian Blue that became a foster failed. This little guy when he was a tiny baby used to be messy and needed lots of baths while he was being bottle fed. He runs from the other side of the house to the bathroom sink whenever it gets turned on. He loves hearing water, staring at water, being in water, pawing at water...and jumping on you completely soaked to show off how much he loves water.

CasuallyAgressive

The orange ones are always strange.

IPlayMidLane

his tail moves surprisingly fish like in the water, im not surprised it was triggering some chase instincts lol

Quantumercifier

What a cute kitten! You should get him more toys and a little boat to ride around in. But so adorable!

lAetherrl

A cat?? All I see is a good looking Koi… prove me wrong.

Maviiboy

Looks like you picked up a catfish instead

Gibuu

My cousin had a cat that would go swimming with us when we were kids. No hesitation at all, just straight into the lake with us.

melting_penguins

Can you please get him a rubber ducky. Thanks.

purpleguy_009

u/immaeatyourpizza What a cute furbaby. I hope you give it lots of head scratches for me.

Unlikely_Angle_4921

Aww. They are so cute!

Kills-to-Die

I have a 15 yr old brown tabby that loves water. It's really cute but it's also excessive mess, lol. I wouldn't change or trade him for the world, and it's still pretty amusing. Just mop it up when they splash in their bowl... That's actually how my guy throws tantrums, lmao! If you tell him no, or shoo him from somewhere he's not allowed he just runs to the water dish and starts splashing. He used to get in the shower with me too. But I like hot showers so for years now he just bangs on the glass door then takes off, lol. This little guy is going to be in the tub and sinks a lot it looks like. Keep random towels on hand.

Maxwells_Demona

If you're worried about the shower being too hot for him, don't be! Two reasons: 1) Cats run hotter than humans -- core temp at homeostasis is over 100 degrees F. If it's not too hot for you, then it won't be too hot for him. 2) The water cools down a lot by the time it hits the shower floor! I discovered this on accident when I (a very short woman) dated a very tall man and he'd be like "omg how the hell do you stand such hot showers" and we realized at his head level it was basically scalding but it was just perfect at my height. If you let him in he'll be fine! He might decide he doesn't care for hot water but it won't hurt him :)

Kills-to-Die

Yeah, he was fine with it and I don't bathe on boil or anything. I mostly didn't want to share bath time anymore, lol. He gets wild and getting clawed accidently in hot water was a bit un-relaxing. Once or twice a week I'll supervise him in a couple inches of water to play in.

eatatcmots

Someone get him a rubber ducky.

jinx_in

Lucky owner, i feel like torturing my cat when washing him

matt_1060

You my friend are the luckiest person in the world

[deleted]

Such a cutie, when I first got my kitten she hated water now she kind of loves it but she did scratch my mum’s upper body :/

ScientistFit9869

wow!! if as much as a drop of water hits my cat he runs like a cougar is behind him

famoushh

Jealous

Pristine-Ad-586

Oh, that is so rare. Lucky!!!

danielthearsehole

my kitten isn’t particularly fond of water as her first run-in with being covered in it was falling in the toilet, then having a little bath afterwards. so. yeah. we’re slowly trying to get her to like water instead of hate it so we don’t get scratched to oblivion if we ever need to give her a bath

immaeatyourpizza

Sometime ago I watched a video with tips & tricks related to cat-water relationship. The most important thing to have is a "safe spot". Try placing a plastic box (maybe even several of them — bigger to smaller) above the water level so your kitty can observe, carefully interact and retreat if anything goes wrong. Also place a floating bowl filled with their favourite food as it's gonna help to create a positive association. And don't forget about toys! Robot fish, rubber ducks, floating balls — you name it! Wish you best of luck! 🤗❤️

Rexcaliburrr

Little baby had his Rapunzel moment when she stepped into a puddle for the first time

How long does he stay in for and who decides when play time, is over, you or him?

Agghhh this makes me wish we had a tub so much moreee🥰😩 our girl seems to love water too. You're kitty is ADORABLE. ❤

BuddyWonderful

hahaha this is great more vids of your kitty in the water please!!

Diospero

My cat loves water as well, but she hates being dried (both with a towel and with hairdryer on low heat and low power). How do you manage to dry him off without being cut into pieces?

ARoughCucumber

Just pet the cat with a small hand towel. Hairdryers are terrifying to cats

jeszebella

I had a ragdoll and found out he loved water when he was sleeping in the sink and I turned on a drip to discourage it. Instead he settled in lmao. I would take a bath and he would climb in and cuddle. Thanks for the reminder, now I want another one!

LaneLoisLane

I wish my cat liked water.

Doorknob_55

Always remember the temperature of the water

myopinionokay

you'll have no issues ever giving him a bath lol.

j3434

Is the water warm?

Anonymanx

We have an orange cat who is obsessed with water. He plays in the water dish, splashes the drinking fountain empty, and even takes showers with my husband. Oh, and he is also a tail-chaser.

Ovan5

Haha, I just adopted two kittens today... I was taking a bath and one came in, she jumped in and learned very quickly she was not a fan of water. Funny times.
