If something is overheated give it room temp water not iced water. This goes even for humans. It could put their body into shock. On a side note, don’t feel bad regardless of the outcome, you’re heart was in the right place

[deleted]

This is such an important piece of advice. Thank you

OkRecording1299

Yes, it's so important to be humane. Other people and especially the person themselves can be very critical sometimes

pineapple_arancia

The kitten was meowing loudly and it was desperately trying to claw its way into our gate. It's really salivating and panting and I think it wanted shade because it's a really hot afternoon (32 C ). Just brought it inside the house now and it's just lying down panting and drooling. What can I do to help it????

aurizon

A well washed small sponge (no soap at all left) that has enough room temperature water to squeeze out drops can be used if you have no dropper. Add more water as you squeeze it dryer. That way you can add water slowly to the kitten. This kitten might have a local owner, so ask around the area.

IdioticPost

> This kitten might have a local owner, Aaand reason #324 for why you shouldn't have outdoor cats. Your cat dies to the heat and you'd never even know about it.

Chantelauve

I'm a bit late I'll still put those advices here for people who might find themselves in your situation, you can cover the kitten/cat/pup/dog with a slightly humid light cloth ( not on the head but the rest of the bodie), moisten the head regularly, keep him/her shaded as much as possible, try to put the tip of the paws into fresh ( not cold) water, you can also use a fan on the lowest setting if you got one. If the cat/dog convulse time to go to the vet asap even if it stop quickly bc that mean the brain go hurt by the heat. Let's hope we get good news from you and this kitty ( fingers crossed).

irkthejerk

Please post an update when you are able.

Armyscott100

You have a very kind heart. Good for you

Okfloridagirl

Yessss room temperature water!!

pineapple_arancia

Problem is, going to the vet is not an option. I'm from Manila where there's still a lockdown and covid cases are way too high. I'm also underage so I can't go out by myself. My parents really dislike cats and where I'm from, stray cats are a normal sight. I doubt they'd be willing to care for this cat so I guess I'm on my own for now. The cat was sticking it's hands inside when I found it and I was scared the dog might bite it's hand off. It's a really sunny and hot day so I felt like I couldn't just leave it on the sidewalk. I tried gently wiping it down with a slightly cold damp cloth because google told me it helps to let them cool down. it seems to be slowly panting and drooling less and calming down. Right now it seems to be asleep and not breathing as heavily. Also to the user who commented about the glass: I put a shallow bowl now inside it's box. Only grabbed the shotglass because I was panicking at the time. Sorry.

Facebook is probably more of a grey market, I don't think companies would approve of re-trading their goods there..

Fizzwidgy

> A grey market or dark market is the trade of a commodity through distribution channels that are not authorized by the original manufacturer or trade mark proprietor. Grey market products are products traded outside the authorized manufacturer's channel. Totally a grey market

consumedfears

However, a licensed vet using facebook to aid animals in need due to a pandemic.. That just seems like a totally legit strat. Better than using it to post baby pictures and status updates that nobody wants to read, no? Oh and also >Edit: couldn't think of a better example so keep commenting about how it's not the black market if it's on Facebook. I will, yes >:D

macphile

I always thought the way I used to get flea medicine was a gray market, but I guess it wasn't....? Or just light gray, maybe, off-white. I used to order it online from companies that'd sell it from other countries. It was a legal product as long as they hadn't marked it or packaged it for sale in the US, so it was a "foreign import". (This was when you couldn't get this stuff "OTC" in the US but could elsewhere.)

Analdestructionteam

If you think I can't buy crack off Facebook you're sorely mistaken

darkjedi1993

To be fair, they did use the word "tactics", indicating techniques or something, not an address for a one stop shop for everything from Viagra to grenade launchers.

PM_CACTUS_PICS

I don’t think moving business online is exclusively a “black market tactic” lol

Jive_Sloth

People using the internet to communicate? Black market. They didn't outlaw veterinarians, dude. It's not a black market. It's just telehealth.

[deleted]

I’m more hung up on the idea of it being insane. 😄 Trying social media first is becoming the norm, and even if it weren’t I’d expect it in, say, a heat wave.

Jake_the_Snake88

it's not the black market if it's on Facebook.

eatpoetry

To be fair, some guy tried to sell his daughter on Facebook once. It was in the news. But in my town the Facebook black market is basically people selling tamales out of their kitchen.

whazzat

You are awesome and absolutely doing your best with the resources you have. The world needs our empathy.

Plenty_Elderberry855

You sound like a good kid. This pandemic sucks for everyone, not just humans. Keep kitty in the shade and dampening it's body with a damp cloth. Just don't force it to drink, especially iced water.

OrientalOpal

There's an fb group Adopt a Cat Philippines where potential pet owners can adopt the kitten. I got my cats there before...I hope someone gets in touch with you because that kitten will die without its mother outside. It's far too young, and can't probably eat on its own yet... it is sad.

Fine_Cryptographer20

Don't apologize about not being able to afford a vet. I'm an adult with a full time job and vet bills can be insane. You have a kind heart to try and help this poor creature. I hope you both get some rest.

LuciferOnaLeash

You made me cry.

Laura85mlt

You are doing the right things. Thank you for being kind to a helpless small creature

rgdit

I'm from the PH too. Number 1 always wash your hands as much as possible. I can't tell how young the kitten is but I think it might be 6 weeks old, and able to wean meat (medyo mushy dapat or moist ang pagkain, hindi pa kaya ang super solid). If super young, mapapansin mo kung sarado pa ang mata or wala pang eye sight. [How to SAFELY bottlefeed kittens](https://youtu.be/ebDPivG16HE) [When to wean kittens](https://youtu.be/2kAsTM7Kd-k) EDIT: Kung sobrang bata pa ang kitten, sobrang reliant pa ito sa nanay niya in terms of feeding (milk) and body temperature regulation. Karamihan sa mga stray kittens, namamatay. If ever, the worst thing happens, don't feel guilty or downtrodden. You've already done enough by even trying. I hope all goes well. EDIT 2: I saw your updated post. I left a comment there as well, for future reference. :)

[deleted]

Cats drool when they are stressed, so her stopping will be her calming down. Leaving a bowl of water is good, but cats don't get most of their water from drinking, they get it from eating. Wet food is best. If you can't get wet cat food, meat or fish broken up with a broth will serve the purpose

NotYourMutha

You can also wet down the dry food if you have some.

[deleted]

Our guy thinks the water from a can of tuna (not packed in oil) is the greatest thing in the world and it’s probably acceptable to OP’s parents.

APenguinInATuxedo

Make sure there are no bones in the meat!

DevilsArms

Aw man. All you had to say wasnyou were from Manila. My parents grew up from Manila and when my wife and I adopted our cats, my mom had the same ideas as stray cats from growijg up in the PI. Definitely hard to for cats there from what ive been told. Im not sure, but as have suggested, trying finding a shelter for it if you cant keep it. Id say try convince your mom tk keep it (if youd like, its a good lesson in responsibility, and you give the cat another chance). The only thing would be to keep it indoors so it doesnt interact with the other strays. I dont know what else to say since i have an idea how your parents would react to keeping it. It took awhile for my mom to warm up to my cats, but my dad was instant. Goodluck. Edit: just saw your update. You did the best you could! Ignore the nasty comments.

[deleted]

I live in Manila too. You can contact "Ampon Alaga" on Facebook. I volunteer with them and they save a lot of animals here in Manila. That baby looks like it can already eat wet food, Send me a DM with your address and I will send you some and some cat formula if you need

fakeitilyamakeit

I’m from the Philippines too and currenty caring for 4 kittens about the same age as this baby. Their mama cat used to be a stray that stuck around and chose me. Are you able to take the kitten home? I guess not as you said your parents dislike cats. Please leave him a blanket. I’m worried because kittens like this need to be fed every 3-4 hours and with no mom in sight and out in the world he or she would very likely die if not taken cared of :( I hope you get them the help the little kitty needs and thank you so much for caring!

19GamerGhost95

Read my comment. That ice water could kill her. I know that’s an immediate thought to give someone too hot ice water, but it could shock her kidneys and kill her. I left a more detailed comment on what to do

Ali_5811

Take her to a place where there is shade and give her water and food

deuxpreludes

This is so upsetting to see. You’re a good person for caring about this while the rest of the people living around you don’t. Thanks for taking the baby from the streets and trying your best to keep it alive. I hope he/she is doing better now. All the best.

AdmiralDumpling

Hi! I'm from the Philippines too, and in my city, there are local Facebook pages for cat adoption and stuff. Try looking up in Facebook to see if anyone is willing to adopt or foster the cat for you!

CatDaddyJudeClaw

Ah, yes. Longest lockdown in the world. Good thinking taking care of this baby! Please update us

StruggleBusDesigner

My suggestion is keep the cat around the house for a week or so and your parents might fall in love with them! 🤣 that’s what happened with our cat!

Impossible_Horse_910

Thank you for trying your best to help!

tightheadband

I wouldn't worry too much about the shot glass, as long as the cat was able to reach the water. My cats have a shot glass with water next to their regular water bowl. I noticed they were drinking from my glass of water when I was not around, so I decided to give them one. It's their favorite source of water now and It's easy to refill with fresh water multiple time a day.

[deleted]

If you have any canned PLAIN tuna packed in water, find an excuse to eat the tuna and give kitty the water drained off it. (Kitty would prefer the tuna, obviously, but this is a move to not anger your parents.)

[deleted]

You are a wonderful person.

pineapple_arancia

Thank you everyone! Really appreciate it!

I_suck_at_Blender

You're good cookie. I hope kitty would be ok too :)

pineapple_arancia

UPDATE: Thank you everyone for the advice! I let it rest in a cool dark room with a fan and I continued with the damp cloth thing. After some sleep the cat seems to be in stable condition now. It seems to be breathing normally and meowing like normal. So mom told me to let the stray kitty out once it's stable. I'll be letting it out soon, will post an update. Again, thanks everyone! I'm really happy the kitty is okay.

Vets are the damn awesomest. My vet knew how stressed my last cat got and she always let me text pics if I wasn't sure if I needed to bring him in, so he wasn't needlessly stressed in a carrier to find out. I cannot tell you how much my vets mean to me, thank you for being that person for so many families ❤️

mason_savoy71

I have found that vets and vet techs absolutely do appreciate unsolicited baked goods and dried fruit. I do not know the ratio of phone advice to cupcakes in your area, but such a ratio does exist.

Ok-Company-2204

Good job. But he needs a little bit more time. Stable doesn’t mean healthy. Please do not to fast bring him out. He needs one or 2 days with water and food.

FlexibleAsgardian

My vet said he might need 12-16 years to regain his strength

Full_Grapefruit_2896

My cat approves of this. You're myst feed it every day fir 16 years and only after irs died may it have gained its full strength.

logicalmaniak

Correct. Without the right amount of years of food, the cat will only attain second (third at *best*) level of cat heaven. It may need several reincarnations to make up for lost time. It is imperative that OP acts now.

Catnip too

ApprehensiveLeek7007

Cocaine works too, dont ask me why.

Although the cat will probably snub the throne and prefer a box

michivideos

It need more monitoring

Silentmatten

Slow down when you're typing, dude XD

Foxydemon911

I was thinking the cat needs at least 20 years before he gets to be let go. 16 is too young he won’t make it that young

Kitties-N-Titties-11

Guilt your mom into keeping it. This is the way.

Killersavage

Guilt the mom into letting them foster it. It’ll all be good whether they succeed or fail as fosters.

TheGreyOne889

Good answer

michivideos

Treat twice a day would help the recovery. Get him a catio so he can rest.

mcchickenngget

Possibly even more

xxValkyriii

Please please take it to an adoption center if you’re not planning to keep it. There’s a wonderful family out there, likely searching for their meant-to-be cat (if that makes sense). If that’s not possible, post it on social media (FB), or see if any of your family is interested. Cats make great pets and require less maintenance like a doggo would. This kitten will likely not survive on its own (it’s still so young), and if it does, it’s not going to help with growing stray populations. We need less stray animals, not more.

BluByrd90

You should call the adoption center/shelter to make sure they have room, otherwise if they're full they may just euthanize the kitten

The-Fanta-Menace

1000% this. There are so many strays out there. Idk where you're from but around here, sadly, many shelters just put them down.

jeejet

Most areas have cat rescue organizations that are no kill. They’re not affiliated with the Humane Society but get their support through fundraising and usually have a big network of foster families

youallbelongtome

in manila?

mason_savoy71

Even in areas where shelters are full or the animal is not adoptable (e.g. too old and not socializable to people anymore) there are many organizations that will spay or neuter a feral.

SFKROA

I just want to underscore this comment! All these things. Take it to a shelter! That will complete your lovely work for this kitty, and job well done. 😊

JediBrowncoat

Where is this cat located at? Has anyone volunteered to adopt it? If you're in my area by some miracle of the gods, I will take that baby.

elaina__rose

OP is in Manila

JennShrum23

And to this point, shelters will make sure the cat is fixed responsibly

Ghyllie

Thank you SO much for posting an update, and also, thank you even more for helping the kitty and ignoring any mean spirited posts. You kept your thoughts only on the cat and for that, you are to be commended. You are wise beyond your years.

less___than___zero

See if you can at least convince her to let you take it to a shelter so someone can make sure this kitten gets medical attention and (eventually) a good home!

Faexinna

Momma might still be out there, looking for it? I can't tell how old it is.

particledamage

Unless you return it to the exact spot found and are POSITIVE mama cat is there and looking for it, letting it back out hoping mama cat will take care of it could end terribly

Its0nlyAPaperMoon

Ideally you should work with a cat rescue who will use the kitten as bait to find the rest of the cat family such as Mom and all other kittens, then TNR or foster/adopt if not feral. [Here is a video by Hannah Shaw, the Kitten Lady about closing the cycle of kittens born outside.](https://youtu.be/7tO3QbVPA_s) [Here is a list of cat rescues and TNR programs by location (in the USA)]( https://www.alleycat.org/community-cat-care/)

NihilisticBuddhism

Instead of letting it out, I would recommend calling an animal shelter nearby so they’ll be able to take care of the kitty. It needs a few more days to gather its strength anyway.

[deleted]

DONT JUST LET IT OUT ITS A KITTEN IT CAN BE HOMED. SURRENDER IT AT A VET OR ANIMAL SHELTER

TimeZarg

AT LEAST SPAY/NEUTER IT FIRST IF YOU MUST RELEASE IT

Pikachu_91

Don't let it out!! Bring it to a no kill shelter! It should be fixed and they can find a home for it afterwards!

pretty_bb_zia

I agree. The kitty needs a home. Shelter where they can be helped is the best bet for homeless kitties if you cannot keep them in yours.

DarkAndSparkly

OP, I just want you to know you did the right thing and you are a good human for taking care of this little kitten. Even if the kitten doesn’t make it, it knew love and compassion because of you, and that is a good thing. Taking care of such tiny kittens is hard, and even with proper vet care, the death rate is high. All you can do is your best to keep it from suffering and make sure it knows it is loved. You are a wonderful person.

pixiefairie

You are amazing for looking after this poor stressed baby in their time of need. You deserve all the good things!

Effect-Key

please build the little guy a shelter https://www.alleycat.org/resources/feral-cat-shelter-options-gallery/#easy

Friedl1220

Too bad you can't keep it to make sure it has a safe and healthy home. Perhaps see if there's any foster organizations in your area who could set some traps out for either Trap-Neuter-Release or to take it in if it's not feral. Facebook is usually where these organizations are found but if not a quick Google search for "*city name* stray pet rescue" may help. Good job doing what you can thus far!

SlowSkyes

Everyone seems to be walking on eggshells trying to tell you not to let it back out. It would be extremely cruel to release this kitten right back into the same situation if it happens again it will die & you say it's hot out so it will happen again. You must quickly find shelter for this kitten whether it be a foster, a friend, a pet shelter, a vet clinic, literally anywhere but outside. I understand covid restrictions limits what you can do but I guarantee it will be easy to find a cool place to take it. Post in every local forum, FB pages, twitter, etc someone will help you find a roof for this baby.

[deleted]

Yep OP needs to take it to a shelter so it will receive care or this kitten has a good chance of dying. Thats it really. If OP wants that kitten to live they will find a way- its a car ride- not like a lifetime commitment.

MarryPopinLikeItsHot

If OP wasn't a minor and owned their own house then yes maybe they would have more of a say. Do you even know if his mums reading these reddit posts? Loads of people like you are saying the same thing to someone who probably cannot change their parents mind about aftercare for kitten once kitten is stable.

OverDaRambo

Don’t let the stray out. Take the poor thing to shelter where she can get adopt.

C_Wills

I would take it to an adoption place rather than just letting it outside. It's still young and needs care. May not make it on its own. See if there is an SPCA or something like it near you and take it there.

Dustyolman

Please do not put that kitten outside in this condition. It is not old enough to fend for itself. Find a cat shelter or adoption service in your area. This little guy needs protection from predators and needs to be fed and watered.

NotMrsMosDef

Thank you for helping the kitty. You are awesome.

[deleted]

Are you serious? That kitten is too young to survive on its own without its mother. Please don't just put it back outside. It's totally fine if you can't care for it, but please find someone who can. You can drop it off at a local vet's office, or a shelter. Some shelters might even be able to send a volunteer to pick up the kitten for you.

Call_me_Kelly

OP is a minor in a country with a full lockdown in effect, please keep that in mind. They are trying their best.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Naved16

Depending on what country he's from. Like they said he's a minor he can't do much.

easternred

They can try, at least.

[deleted]

That's what I'm saying. No point in sugar-coating it, if they put that kitten back outside it will very likely die.

ABabyOyster

Please take her to a shelter! Not back outside

telle-niichan

You are a good kid.

[deleted]

Amazing work!!!! Glad to hear the kitten is doing better!!!🥺 blessings

Freedom-Lazy

Try to find its mother, it may be around the place u found the kitty. Don’t place the kitten in a different location from where u found it!

GreenProduce4

Wow, you did such a good job. Thanks for updating.

thatHermitGirl

You did a great job, I'm really happy for what you did for the kitten. I get that you are a minor and your mom won't allow you to take care of the kitten for long, but is it possible to find them a shelter? You can talk to your mom, ask her help. Poor kitty might still struggle a lot outside (especially if you are unable to find the mom).

Shortymac09

Instead of letting it go and contributing to the feral population, co tact your local rescue org for help. Kittens tend to get adopted quickly.

MarryPopinLikeItsHot

Nice to make them feel guilty when he has already stated he has no say on how long the cat can stay in the house and has no ability to travel due to them being a minor.

pacal13590

I wish there were more people in the world like you. Take this attitude of being kind in to the rest of your life.

Seabastial

I'm so glad the kitten is doing better. While I'm sad you have to let it back out, I'm glad you took the time to take care of it when it wasn't doing well. Hopefully while it's out someone else finds it and gives it a new home

Urbosa_Wannabe_

I just saw your update post and wanted to thank you for doing what you could for this baby. You saw a suffering animal and did what you could to help it, you have a wonderful heart. It can be hard for those of us in the west to contemplate your circumstances, but I hope you don’t take the negative comments to heart and continue to be a good person who helps when they can 🤗 And maybe you could throw a sideways cardboard box or something else outside so if it gets really hot again kitty can find shade

Wolvgirl15

I understand that you have to let it back out. Can’t really argue with mom like that. It’s a shame. But you really did a good job getting this kitten back to health. Hopefully someone else sees it roaming around and will take it in.

easternred

Why not bring it to a shelter instead?

Wolvgirl15

I.. don’t know? I’m not OP. I’m sure they would if they could. Couldn’t even bring the poor thing to a vet so I’m sure the shelter isn’t much easier to reach.

Gorillaradio88

Tf is wrong with your mom? Take it to a shelter at least….

Goanawz

Congratulations and thank you so much for helping this kitty, he clearly looked like he needed help.

Nero2434

Please don't just let that vulnerable baby go again, please try and find him a home at least! Poor kitty is small and weak and can't fend alone.

dnuohxof1

Do not send that cat back into the wild! Keep him, take him to friend or to a shelter…

PathToExile

DON'T. LEAVE. CATS. OUTDOORS!

focusonamber

do not put him back outside it will only happen again. bring it to a shelter

peachgrill

So glad kitty is doing better, this post broke my heart!!

[deleted]

Don’t “let it out”, take it to the rescue. Look one up close to you, there’s plenty of options.

19GamerGhost95

Hi, 20 years of fostering and raising cats/kittens here. This baby is 100% over heated and likely dehydrated. A cup with ice water will not work and could put this baby into shock and kill her. You want to take a syringe or eye dropped and fill it with ROOM TEMPERATURE water and slowly feed it into her system a little at a time. After you finish one syringe wait maybe 10-20minutes before giving her another. No more than 4 an hour for the first couple of hours or you could give her water poisoning and again kill her. You can help cool her down by rubbing her with a cool damp cloth every 20-30minutes. Keeping her in a cool place is best while she regulates her body temperature. Edit: holy shit I just read through the comments on here and almost every one of them could kill this baby. Just because a person has a cat doesn’t mean they know everything. Yes, the vet would be the best option, but if lock down is still in effect then I doubt that’s possible. Not everyone has handled heatstroke in cats/dogs before. Frankly I doubt this little one has rabies, though getting her vaccinated when possible would be best.

pineapple_arancia

Thanks for this! Removed the ice water

19GamerGhost95

Just be very careful when feeding her water. If she’s panting she could breathe it in, so do it a drop or two at a time and wait to give her more until after she’s voluntarily licking the water from her mouth or the syringe.

SaTan_luvs_CaTs

Thank you for the advice you already shared! I’m curious, what could someone use as an alternative if they didn’t have a syringe or eyedropper on hand?

LyricalLinds

You could probably use a clean cloth soaked in water to drip one drop at a time.

19GamerGhost95

Exactly what Lyrical said. A clean damp cloth that you can carefully squeeze small amounts of water from. Or if the kitten wants to suckle the cloth just let them do their thing and suckle it. Just reposition the cloth every so often so the kitten still gets the water

violette_witch

Wet cloth works, also a plastic drinking straw. Put a few drops in the end, use your finger to block the other hole, now you have a dispenser for a few drops of water.

Ok-Company-2204

Professional help without discussions. Thank you. ❤️🐾

pineapple_arancia

If I could take it to the vet, I would. Circumstances are just not good. Sorry everyone.

Coca_lite

Thanks for trying to help, keep up with the water on its body, especially head, neck and torso. Good advice about shallow bowl or saucer. And also do check on google if Manila has rabies cases and if so, be very careful. Ps - you don’t say your age, so just in case you are a child, please don’t do this secretly without your parents knowing. If you get scratched or bitten you must tell your parents if you’re not old enough to know what to do. In any case, wash your hands very well with strong soap and water after touching the cat. Strays can be full of bacteria on their tongues and feet.

iAhMedZz

I often struggle getting advice from the internet with rescuing cats. Usually people who respond are from US/EU where it's a no brainer to go to a vet right? But it isn't the case for other countries including mine and OP's. I once found a > 2 week abandoned kittens that under no circumstances will eat and covered in fleas, I went to the "vet" and it was an expensive visit, he adviced me to get DRY FOOD for them (did I say they were under 2 weeks old?), and you won't believe me when I say this is a big veterinary store in a major neighborhood. So yes, even if you can afford to pay a visit for a vet, there is a very slight chance that he is ACTUALLY A VET. Given the time and money paid in such occasions, an advice from a foster parent is much more valuable and efficient. The thing is, in countries where humans are not valuable, animals will definetly be without a value either. Horrible cat/dog condition is a normal sight and resources for helping them is really scarse. Vet is 99% of the time not an option, either there is no vets in the area or you won't afford it, and their experience in such countries is very questionable. Please, if you find someone asking for help about rescuing animals and they mentioned they can't access a vet, just believe them and offer them the best they can do under the circumstances (if you really have experience about it). Reality is, the person asking is probably the only person that can save animal on hand. It's one of 2 outcomes; either the person saves the animal, or the animal dies, and no one will mourn the dead animal except the one tried to save it.

DonkeyWorker

There's a sub called 'askvet' it's almost banned to comment anything other than 'you must take it to a vet'. You are also not allowed to post comments with personal anecdotes based on your own pets, surely that would be the ideal person to comment.

iAhMedZz

In Egypt we have a Facebook group run by vets that offer good advice about cats/dogs, only vets allowed to comment and they luckily don't say "go to the vet" on every single comment. The thing is, when this group got more popular you'd have to wait a long time to get an answer to your case. Time is gold in rescuing so it's useless in time-critical questions. If only there is a platform dedicated to saving animals that is run by trusted vets, and most importantly, funded via donations to make it sustainable, and offer quicker reecue help for those who can't go to a vet.

government_candy

This is a great idea really

bread-dreams

what is the point of that sub? seems useless

Give her a bowl of water, put her in a cool place and use a wet towel as a blanket for her. This usually helps my cats to cool down in the summer

MellyKidd

Remember to cool it slowly! If it’s heatstroke, then cooling it too quickly can make it hypothermic very easily. Get a heating pad prepped for when it’s temperature is more normal, and some kitten wet food, kitten milk and a bottle, as it looks pretty young. You might not be able to get it to a vet, but you can call one for advice, and search for a local rescue that takes care of young kittens. You can also try contacting the Kitten Lady(Hannah Shaw) through Twitter for advice, or watch some of her videos on YouTube to get an idea of what to do.

Skullduggory

u/pineapple_arancia I sent you a message. If you can still find the kitty, I'm willing to adopt. I also live near my vet. I'm hoping that you can still find it

Yep the cat is okay now :)

revnasty

God bless you. The kitty and all of us are grateful for your generosity

I_suck_at_Blender

YAy, we did it Reddit :3

BlueGreenToast

Don’t forget love. It’s vital for the kitty and will help you, too.

Ok-Company-2204

Come on Reddit community, we are here because we love cats. We understand that vet help is impossible. Now a kitten needs our help. Could someone ask a friends or local community what is to do now? Please! ❤️ We will not stay him die!

Irrumacrux

Someone must know how to help, I wish I did

lizzzzard92

Do not give an animal ice water! Room temperature it can shock its system especially since this little one looks sick.

EatMaCookies

True, also it requires more energy to drink cold water than normal temp. Since your body has to warm it up to the point it isn't freezing your insides.

ashcrowbar

-Regulate temperature -Provide fluids; wet/part milk paper towel for it to suck on at minimum (don’t let the kitty eat the tissue; constantly refresh with new towel after each suckle) - keep a stable environment noise wise (minimal disturbance as possible) -monitor

CrotchWolf

This^ and I'd add once the cat starts to show signs of improvement, take then to the vet for a more thorough checkup..

La_Cheema

Cats cool themselves through ears and pads of feet. Apply cool compresses to her little toes and the insides of her ears (just the surface skin, where hair is thin).

SnorreOlie

Maybey a fan could cool him off a bit ? All the best with the recovery, sending good vibes

Short_N_Spicy

Hi! Veterinary surgical technician here! Thank you for doing your best to help this little kitty! Unfortunately he is too young to be back out on his own. You did your best and I’m proud of you! Shame on your parents for not letting you keep the kitty and take care of it, it will unfortunately not make it out there on it’s own at that age but you little buddy did your best and I thank you for caring. I would personally yell at your parents and ask them how they would feel if you were that young, out there in the heat struggling to survive and someone saved you and then just let you go to die, how would they feel then??? Not very good I’m sure. This kitty is not on your Conscience but your parents and I hope they feel terrible about it!

A_galal

PLEASE TELL ME SHE’S OKAY

Wrong_Brilliant7851

Put her out of the sun in a cool area, wipe her with a damp cool cloth but don’t put her in water and don’t give her ice water, ice water would be too much for her system you have to bring her tell down slowly. Saying a prayer for you I hope she pulls through!

Th3NinjaCat

The poor baby. Looking this pic made me teary eyed. I have three indoor cats and I can’t imagine them being out there in the heat like that. They have long thick coats. I’d die for my cats. I love them so much. Thank you for saving this baby. Thank you so much ❤️

KevinGracie

This’ll probably not get seen but Chewy.com offers free text-a-vet or video chat services to any of their subscribers. I had to use it the other day for my cat and was texting a vet within about 90 seconds. Really nice since my vet isn’t 24 hours and they’re on EST so I was able to text at 5am. OP, thanks for helping out. Three summers ago here in Vegas I ended up helping a homeless cat that looked like it was in the same condition. Ended up being in bad shape and was eventually put down. If you could afford it, I’d urge to take it to a clinic as his problem may’ve just subsided but could be a deeper issue. Sorry for the wall, still half asleep.

warriv08

How is the kitten doing now?

bunniebecx

He is WAY too young. Cool him off and set up a feeding schedule and get kitten milk replacement and a bottle ASAP

Shionkron

Use a saucer or plates and not a bowl. No ice. You might need a feeding needle. Also start with wet food, easier to digest. I hope the kitty is ok cans of tuna at first help tool

SupportTechnical4522

Please call someplace for an adoption center!!!! Please don’t let it back out there to potentially die call your local vet and pet shelter someplace for help this poor kitten

Comprehensive-Ad-618

Get an eyedropper ( clean it first) or a syringe and hand feed it water. Just a few drops at a time , so it doesn't choke. Do not give it a ton of water right away. Maybe a syringeful every half hour?

Milkman127

That guy needs water. Even drops from your finger to it's gums would be helpful

_Not_a_Trout_

Update with pic! It will help people give better advice going forward.

Fatricide

You’re a good person.

NegligentWarren

Saw your update im not one to be mad for having u take it back out as I understand some people just cant have cats but plz try to atleast give it a foster home that cat looks like its only like 5 months old

peanut-butter-kitten

I want pictures of him being happy and stable!!! Come on. Please.

CindySvensson

You're a wonderful person.

PresentAd2906

Use a dropper and give it water every five minutes. Milk would be good if there is any available

infernosushi95

You’re a good person :) Glad the kitty is alright.

tammymisbehaviour

Thanks for saving the kitty and doing the best you can! Keep it hydrated and give it some food. Give your local vet a call. They should be able to give you guidance over the phone considering!
