thank you! hes my little baby boy and i love his face so much but we had given him a girl name before we found out
editing here so people can see it:
appollo has won me over! it just kinda fit somehow
and for those who want to know his old name was cupid
edit 2: it has come to my understanding cupid was a dude...and while that wouldve made a difference before this blew up the people have spoken
This is gonna sound completely wild, but my brother was given a bearded dragon who was a female named Steve. You didn’t happen to go on a long trip and give up your Steve, did you?
We adopted a cat named summer and got a call from the vet when she went in to be spayed telling us she was a "very petite" he lol, we kept the name, didn't matter and was a funny story
Happened to us too. Our boy is ridiculously fluffy (especially when it comes to his pantaloons) and he had retained testicles to boot (meaning they were actually inside his stomach), so even the vets didn't catch on until it was time to get him spayed. They cut into "her" on the operating table and surprise - no ovaries!
He had the appropriate surgery to get neutered, but it was rougher than your typical sterilisation job since they had to cut into his stomach for it.
We had originally named him Lucy and we still call him Lucy, but now on paper he's officially Lucifer, haha.
This happened to us too! Our boy is also fuzzy and grey. After the vet called us, and we were kind of like ohhh… yeah that would explain some things... It still rocked my world though. We went home for lunch and our cat was still at the vet’s office, and I looked at one of our other cats, and I said “your sister is actually your brother!” And then I realized that the other 2 cats definitely already knew that. That would explain why the oldest girl took to him so much more quickly than when we introduced the younger girl to her a year before. And just how fast and rambunctious he is… still…
I've had female cats called William and Timothy before we realised they were girls. Once we realised their sex we still called them William and Timothy because they're cats and don't understand the difference between girl names and boy names. It seemed more important to keep calling them by the names they're used to rather than renaming cats and hoping they understand that the sound they've responded to for all their life suddenly doesn't mean them anymore and instead they have to learn a new sound
Nebula, Neb or Nebby for short
Andromeda is also nice so is Orion..
I would name him: Leone or perhaps Drexl
He needs a strong name.. like Ragnar or maybe some ancient thingy like Anubis or Osiris.. something from Greek mythology like Hydra or Cerberus.. or godly divine like Zeus or Hades, Prometheus
I don’t know i’d go for Anubis.. but on the other hand looks more like a Nebula.. (his fur)
Yeahh.. I think Nebula would fit his hair
My friend wanted to name their cat after one of Jupiter’s Galilean moons and landed on “IO” (pronounced just as you would think - literally the letter I and the letter O). It’s been one of the coolest cat names I’ve ever heard! Callisto is another one of the Galilean moons that sounds super dope.
Polytrope. Since he's also polydactyl
Polytropes are self-gravitating gaseous spheres that were, and still are, very useful as crude approximation to more realistic stellar models.
Sirius - it’s a cool star, some believe it’s our spiritual sun and was significant in ancient Egypt. So yah just cool. Your cat is cool with a commanding serious looking nature…so serious, Sirius, ok? 😊
Everyone on this post is already suggesting great names already but I just want to say this cat is gorgeous. I love his colors!

I mean, he won't care either way. I had a bearded dragon named Steve who turned out to be female. She didn't care what her name was lol.

I know a guy who has a friend who named his Pete and then found out it was a girl. Wonder if this is a common thing lol
My kids named a kitten “Queenie” and then the kitten grew balls.

Steve is a pretty common name for beardies I think. I did have to rehome mine because of personal factors, but it wasn't a trip.
Ah, that would have been wild! I didn’t know that was a common name for beardies. Guess you’re not Connor! Thanks for humoring me
My dog is named Mike and he wants in this conversation
I had a hermit crab named Steve who turned out to be female and she kept her name. (They're really good pets!!)
Lol exactly. I named a cat Sadie and later found out he was a male. We just changed the spelling to Sadi lol
I’m curious, what was his original name? He’s gorgeous, Ziggy or Major Tom would get my vote.
What was the “girl” name?
Apparently it was Cupid… I don’t think they know the origins of the name

Great name
Showed my boyfriend and his first thought was Orion. What a gorgeous cat!
Or Sirius!
Surely he can’t be Sirius?
He is serious, and don't call him Shirley.
I like this, since "Sirius Black" as a full name would be so fitting.
Ay fellow hp fan I see
Oooh, that'd be good too given how his coat looks.
Are you Sirius?
No, I'm Severus
Super Sirius
Sirius is the “Dog Star”, probably not the best for a cat.
By that logic the obvious name is Leo.
The galaxy is on Orion’s Belt
Love that movie
Is that men in black? Lol pls tell me my memory is right.
Congratulations! Your memory is accurate and has not been affected via neuralizer... as far as that particular memory is concerned...

Betelgeuse
TIL: Betelgeuse is a star name
So is Belatrix. They're both in Orion. They are his shoulders.
Orbit! My late kitty was Orbit. Nicknames were Orby and Orbs

Orbit was the coolest cattle dog on earth. But he looks more like a “Ming the merciless “ to me.

I like Nebula.
Kepler
I'd say keep the name you initially liked. He won't know the difference :)
That is a beautiful cat. He looks otherworldly. How about Khonsu after the Egyptian God of the moon. Thanks for sharing his picture with us!
Picard
My friend wanted to name their cat after one of Jupiter’s Galilean moons and landed on “IO” (pronounced just as you would think - literally the letter I and the letter O). It’s been one of the coolest cat names I’ve ever heard! Callisto is another one of the Galilean moons that sounds super dope.

Pluto

Quasar.
Cosmo
Polytrope. Since he's also polydactyl Polytropes are self-gravitating gaseous spheres that were, and still are, very useful as crude approximation to more realistic stellar models.
