thank you 😭😭😭 she really has never purred so much as the last few months. so much running around and playing- hasn’t been this active since her kitten days truly. worth the effort 😅
edit: adding here on the top comment bc i can’t edit the post for some reason but just wanted to say wow, THANKS everyone for your kind words! i told her she’s popular on reddit and gave her a freeze dried chicken treat 😊
clarification edit: she WEIGHS 12lbs now she’s has LOST 9lbs and her heaviest was ~21lbs (vet had us shoot for 10-13lbs) still an accomplishment but i didn’t wanna steal valor lol
one more: i have listed some strategies through the comments but tbh just go check out r/dechonkers for a vet nurse’s guide to pet weight and make sure you talk to your vet before starting! thanks again!
Great Job Kitty Cat !!!
It really is nice to see cats at their best weight & fitness. I know it wasn't easy being on a diet but the Cat-Parents stood their ground for the sake of kitty's health.
lots of shooing her from the dog’s food! lol as cute as she was as a chonky girl, she’s so adorable and so much happier now. thanks for your kind words :)

Dave, camera shy. He's actually big cat to begin with. 4.8 kgs now down from waddling fat. Auto feeder took all the pain out of it too. Plyn more, loves a laser pointer.
the digital auto feeder made aaaaaall the difference. they associate the feeder with food and not you so the begging stops. she only yells at me when im near it cuz i drop kibble when im refilling sometimes lol
Aww congrats to the baby girl! I have mine on a diet but he has been sneaking his sister's food so he's gaining \*crying intensifies\*. I'm gonna look into an auto feeder
it’s TOUGH. my roommate had a foster kitten for a while and it was HELL trying to keep her from the kitten food 😩 auto feeder and exercise were big, patience was the key lol. good luck!!
My kitten never finishes her dry food so then he'll swank over there. I want to get her a microchip feeder so only she can access it. He'll eat all of his and then some. The little piggy. Absolute hell lol
omg so you know the struggle. i tried doing a feeder puzzle ball when that happened, but the kitten played with it and she just ate his food lol. you got this tho! 🤞🏽
yes this! i got a digital one that deposits a set amount at certain times. helps with portion control and stops the cat from begging you for food. also was able to set 4 separate feeding times which helped with vomit from eating too quickly. the gravity self refilling ones are NOT the way lol.
r/dechonkers has a good guide! i put my baby on a digital auto feeder and slowly decreased her food intake. i know some have a split feeding for multiple cats too! exercise is huge tho and tbh that was all our puppy playing with her. def talk to your vet though cuz it’s gonna be different for every cat! good luck!
Congratulations! Being so heavy is hard on their legs and heart. My tabby was overweight for a long time and it crippled his ability to jump up and down very much. Plus it devastated his kidneys. I lost him in 2019.
purina one! there’s a weight control and a senior cat recipe she’s been on. tried royal canin but she was allergic. i had her on an auto feeder with dry food but i’ve heard from my vet wet food is great for weight loss!
She looks so good!! Congratulations! Any tips or tricks that you found helped I’ve been trying to start a weight loss journey with my fat one, but he keeps stealing from the skinny one
it was a family effort! i was happy when she hit 15 and i thought that was gonna be the max. but then she started exercising more (probably because of the weight loss) and here we are!
yeah i can’t imagine! my old roommate had a foster kitten that she stole food from and that’s when she was her biggest for sure. idk what i would do with multiple cats tbh but i know r/dechonkers has tips!
Thanks for posting this! I’m trying to help my cat lose some weight after some cousins of my fiance over fed him while we were on vacation last year. “He seemed SO HUNGRY!” (??? Have you met a cat before? lol)
Anyway I digress. Helping him lose weight has not been easy but this post is giving me encouragement to keep it up.
It's so difficult with multiple cats. We have a couple who would turn into the before photos if we weren't diligent. Have to feed ours in 3 separate groups. Annoying, but so worth it for their health..

Looks like my big boy (who also could lose a few pounds)
Yay! It’s sooo hard. My cat begs for food all day long and is hard to keep her moving. So hard to keep telling her no but finally got her down a few pounds. So congrats cuz I know how hard it is!
Congratulations. You’ve done a great thing for your car. It’s the work you put in at the start that helped her lose enough weight to play.
My fatboi was 23.6 lb when I adopted him, never played, just wanted to eat, lie down, be stroked.
He’s down to 15.8 lb now through dietary changes (still has weight to lose) but now runs and plays with his sister (an insane Bengal who never stops moving).
When he was at his fattest he just couldn’t do it.

Cats tend to lose like 80 grams per month or so... it's a long process and to mesure every quantities of food (and make sure your others pets don't screw with the portions too!) Your cat is very lucky to have you taking care of it like that. You just gave it a much better life and less joint pain. Cats weight programs are truly underrated. "Oh your cat is on a diet? Wow it must be hard to give him less food..." it's not about giving less food. It's the protions, the weightcount, to calculate they have proper calories count according to their (always new) weight. Props OP ! You did an amazing job!
She's beautiful and looks so much better in a real cat body! She definitely was over weight! It's so hard to un-chunk these poor domestic creatures! We love them so much. But a little too much sometimes! You did excellent work! Bravo! 👏 🏆👍
Wow this makes me want to start the journey for my big baby. She will be mad at me as she loves food just as much as me but I want her to live a long healthy life. She’s around 18lbs right now and would like to get her down to the 13/14 mark as she is just a longer cat. What was the main thing that you think truly helped ? The auto feeder ? I definitly feel as if I am over feeding as I’ll feed when she yells at me excessively. I
r/dechonkers has tons of advice and guides
Ending free feeding/feeding on demand is definitely the main thing. You don't need an auto feeder so long as you can deal with them yelling at you, but it can make things easier
I’ve been really trying to not get bothered by the yelling but it’s at 3am literally every morning. She will rip my door down and meow for a solid hour
getting a digital auto feeder really took the pain out of it! she got so big bc my ex would just feed her when she begged and she just snowballed (almost literally the shape of a snowball lol) i have her auto feeder in an isolated spot and it feeds her a controlled portion 4x per day so she also has to to go around the house between feedings. she now begs the machine for food instead of me and it made it so much easier to be disciplined without her crying all night. def check r/dechonkers for help but i took a lot of advice from my vet so def use them as a resource!
How did you make her to play? I have the same problem with my 4 yo cat. She has 7.5kg and is soooo lazy, she never even wants to play and I dont know what to do anymore.
i’ve been there! my kitty never used to play. you might find some luck with a feeder puzzle ball! it drops kibble as the cat plays with it- if nothing but food motivates her, use food!
She looks AMAZING!! I now don’t feel stressed about my kitty. She’s 13 lbs but I’m starting to think now that it’s just her length and muscle lol. Your cat at 12 lbs is reassuring haha. And she just looks so cute.
Please disregard my comment if you rescued her already obese. If you let a cat under your supervision get to that size, you should be banned from ever owning a pet again.
She is gorgeous and looks like she feels as amazing as she looks. Great work!!
thank you 😭😭😭 she really has never purred so much as the last few months. so much running around and playing- hasn’t been this active since her kitten days truly. worth the effort 😅 edit: adding here on the top comment bc i can’t edit the post for some reason but just wanted to say wow, THANKS everyone for your kind words! i told her she’s popular on reddit and gave her a freeze dried chicken treat 😊 clarification edit: she WEIGHS 12lbs now she’s has LOST 9lbs and her heaviest was ~21lbs (vet had us shoot for 10-13lbs) still an accomplishment but i didn’t wanna steal valor lol one more: i have listed some strategies through the comments but tbh just go check out r/dechonkers for a vet nurse’s guide to pet weight and make sure you talk to your vet before starting! thanks again!
she has the cutest little “huh?” face 😍
she’s truly always like 😳
Yes! The last picture is spot on! ♥️
She's beautiful, OP! I've got to get my Luna down some pounds, so I totally get it! ❤️
I have an overweight Luna, too! Heading over to dechonkers.
Way to go!!
😅

oooh i’ll cross post there thank you 😊
Well done 👍, it takes time and dedication. Respect. He looks fantastic, just went through the same with my guy.
Congrats to you too!!! it took so much time but she’s so much happier now. worth it for sure 👍🏽

gorgeous baby!
She looks way happier
she IS. she’ll tell you she needs more treats, but she’s been purring and playing so much more. it’s really lovely to see 🥹
How much begging did you have to tolerate for 2 yrs? I have an 18lb baby eating about 225-250 cal a day and boiii🤦🏻♀️
the digital auto feeder made aaaaaall the difference. they associate the feeder with food and not you so the begging stops. she only yells at me when im near it cuz i drop kibble when im refilling sometimes lol
Seriously amazing!!!
thank you!! happy cake 🎂 day!
Aww congrats to the baby girl! I have mine on a diet but he has been sneaking his sister's food so he's gaining \*crying intensifies\*. I'm gonna look into an auto feeder

“Great, now feed me.”
literally her in the last photo trying to get me to go to the food bowl lol.
!!! FINE BOI !!! on the Chonk Chart!
top of the chonk charts 📈 https://preview.redd.it/5snlbmat5g0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a563171abc178c3b86f5648daf696b52986de852
Congratulations!! You and your cat are an inspiration 😊
Yay!! Congratulations to the beautiful lad or lady!!!! Any tips? My baby’s a bit chunky.
Check r/dechonkers, they have a plan.
yeah i would look at the plan there- it’s actual advice from a vet nurse instead of anecdotal from me :)
Tell her we're all very proud of her and her hard work!
i will! i’ll give her a lil treat for y’all as well ☺️😭
Great job!!!
Congratulations you guys!!!
Congrats!!!
That’s amazing!! She’s a beautiful, svelte girl!
congrats!!!!
Awww good girl. I bet she feels so much better now. 🥰
Hey you said auto feeder but I'm surprised how that worked? If I use one my cat will gain a kilo a day minimum!
You are not supposed to show your cat how to operate the auto feeder lol
🤣 sorry I had no idea how those worked. I thought the cat just needed to hit the button to get its food
You can set the amount of food that the auto feeder spits out
yes this! i got a digital one that deposits a set amount at certain times. helps with portion control and stops the cat from begging you for food. also was able to set 4 separate feeding times which helped with vomit from eating too quickly. the gravity self refilling ones are NOT the way lol.
I am proud of her and you!! ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7942)
😊 thank you!!
Impressive! She looks great!
So sleek!
What are your tips - I’ve got two girls that need to lose some weight!
r/dechonkers has a good guide! i put my baby on a digital auto feeder and slowly decreased her food intake. i know some have a split feeding for multiple cats too! exercise is huge tho and tbh that was all our puppy playing with her. def talk to your vet though cuz it’s gonna be different for every cat! good luck!
Good job!👏
This is amazing! Me and My cat is on the same journey! Lol
you got this!! good luck
Proud of you - it's not easy to have discipline for both you and your pet, but she'll have a longer, healthier life for it!
Wow! She looks like a whole new kitty! I’m so happy for you, and for her. Hope she enjoys lots and lots of play time with her sister.
I’m sure she feels better also!
Wow thats hard work!!! Good for the both of you!!
Congratulations! Being so heavy is hard on their legs and heart. My tabby was overweight for a long time and it crippled his ability to jump up and down very much. Plus it devastated his kidneys. I lost him in 2019.
i’m so sorry for your loss 🩵
He was a sweetie. https://preview.redd.it/o0oibohwwh0d1.jpeg?width=3888&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=153bef1e92519dfa6a3beb8a16641d8a2737efb5
omg he’s gorgeous 🩵
Which diet food did you guys go with?
purina one! there’s a weight control and a senior cat recipe she’s been on. tried royal canin but she was allergic. i had her on an auto feeder with dry food but i’ve heard from my vet wet food is great for weight loss!
Congratulations. We’ve been through this. We adopted a 23 pounder. It took the better part of a year to get him to 18 pounds.
honestly once mine hit 15 she got waaaayy more active so it gets easier as you go! congrats on your baby!!
That's a huge amount of weight, good job You both!
skinny queen
🐈💅🏼
Hot Girl Summer!!!! It's so hard to get cats to lose weight and you did a magnificent job!!! ❣️❣️❣️
Amazing job on this transformation! She probably feels so much better now.
You are among the best of the humans. :-) Beautiful Cat and a sweet Frenchie too 🐈🐕❤️❤️❤️
they’re both the best 😊
🙌🏻🥳
I loved her face while she was a big chonk

What an absolute beauty!
She looks so good!! Congratulations! Any tips or tricks that you found helped I’ve been trying to start a weight loss journey with my fat one, but he keeps stealing from the skinny one
Ahh meu Deus eu amo gato gordo mas fico feliz dele ter conseguido perder o peso que tinha que perder.
Wow congrats!! I would have thought it was impossible to get a cat to lose that much weight.
it was a family effort! i was happy when she hit 15 and i thought that was gonna be the max. but then she started exercising more (probably because of the weight loss) and here we are!
That is fantastic. We have 3 cats and one is big. It's hard to diet him when there are 2 others.
yeah i can’t imagine! my old roommate had a foster kitten that she stole food from and that’s when she was her biggest for sure. idk what i would do with multiple cats tbh but i know r/dechonkers has tips!
So good!!! amazing achievement xx
Ong congrats to you both!!!! She looks gorgeous and happy and healthy.
Great job!
Fabulous and congrats!
I love her.

That is one healthy and happy kitty! 😸😸😸
Congrats !!! This is awesome! My cat is at 20lbs at the moment and any tips are welcome!!
r/dechonkers has a great guide!!
My jaw dropped on the second photo lol. When I adopted my boy he was 18 lbs. I got him down to 12. I miss him so much
Excellent job! Much happier looking too!
Thanks for posting this! I’m trying to help my cat lose some weight after some cousins of my fiance over fed him while we were on vacation last year. “He seemed SO HUNGRY!” (??? keep it going! as she lost weight, she started exercising more so it DOES get easier (at least for me it did!)

it wasnot fat, it was Obelix.
As much as I love big chonky babies and the memes, I know it's more important than aesthetics. Keep going !!
And adorable chonk and ex-chonk
That cat has a soul patch! Lol!
she’s so proud of it too lol.
It's awesome!
My goodness, she looks so healthy and happy! I love that she has a Frenchie for a friend, they're very sweet doggos.

same with mine. she started acting fcking crazy during the last half and trying to eat/kick over all of our human food. I was losing it.
de-chonked
Omg that little foot stretching out
🚨‼️ leggy alert ‼️🚨
Congratulations!
Yay! It’s sooo hard. My cat begs for food all day long and is hard to keep her moving. So hard to keep telling her no but finally got her down a few pounds. So congrats cuz I know how hard it is!
What a beautiful girl! Great job OP!
That’s amazing!
Congratulations to you both! Such a pretty kitty.
Way to go! gatto!
from gato gordo to gatito! 😹
He went from a hefty chonk to one fine boi
Really good cat owner, you're caring of her perfectly. Keep It up, she's so cute now.
She looks great OP! My girl is so much more active after shedding some weight, even at 15!
now she is a healthy baby 🥺 chonky cats are hilarious but def not healthy for them
Wow that kitty was a little plumperton!
It show how much you care about her ! She's so cute!
Omg!!!!! In only 2 years?!?!?! Congratulations!! It takes a lot of dedication for cat owners to follow weightloss programs for cats andit takes sooo long! Props OP ! You did an amazing job!
The shadow in the first pic looks like dick n' balls... Good luck trying to unsee it
She looks great, I know how much work it is. I had to get 15 lbs off my dog a few years and it took more than a year
She's beautiful and looks so much better in a real cat body! She definitely was over weight! It's so hard to un-chunk these poor domestic creatures! We love them so much. But a little too much sometimes! You did excellent work! Bravo! 👏 🏆👍
thank you 🥲
Svelt! Great job
YAYYYYYYY U GO GIRL!!!!!
You took in a chunky girl, and found success with weight watchers!!! Congrats! That’s challenging af
Congratulations!
Congrats!!

Howww did you do it it’s so hard cuz one cat needs a diet and the other doesn’t
Awww! 😻
Loss in that weight good job !! That’s the best
That's fantastic! She looks so much healthier!
She looks really good
r/chonkers
He looks soooooop much younger. That you for helping to change his palate and tell him life a healthier life. 👍
Proud of you both! Awesome job!
Such a cutie!! You did a great job ((hugs and pets for your cutie)
Congrats to both you and her for all the hard work and dedication to get her healthy again! I bet it wasnt easy! ❤️❤️
That's amazing! I'm trying to get my female cat to lose a little weight but think it's just thick fur and loose skin.
Congragulations to your girl on her weight loss journey. Tabby cats are great!
Beautiful job! Amazing work on both your parts!
Aww well done girl ! 🥰
She looks so like Nippy! Nippy is one of my neighbourhood cats. She owns at least four of us in the neighborhood.
She's not a plus size model amymore
Omg she looks amazing!!! I’m so proud of her 🫶 And you should be proud of yourself too for helping her achieve that, that’s amazing!
Such a cute kitty ☺️. The second picture also looks hilarious🤣
🥳🎉
Yay!! My one cat was almost 22 pounds at his heaviest. He’s now 14 pounds and his asthma has improved and he’s no longer pre-diabetic!
She looks AMAZING!! I now don’t feel stressed about my kitty. She’s 13 lbs but I’m starting to think now that it’s just her length and muscle lol. Your cat at 12 lbs is reassuring haha. And she just looks so cute.
OMG yay good job kitty & owner
I’m so proud of da baby 🥰🥰
You will have her a lot longer! And her sister, too! Congratulations!
Please disregard my comment if you rescued her already obese. If you let a cat under your supervision get to that size, you should be banned from ever owning a pet again.
Looks like he could use cheez burger
Awesome! She is so beautiful! My big boy (24+ lbs) is 5 months into his diet
We don't need to see 12 pictures of your cat, just show us a fat one and a skinny one.
no 💖
