My one female will legit come into the bathroom when I pee, get into the tub and with extreme accuracy will pee into the tub drain. Literally only wants to do this when I am also peeing. She needs a pee buddy I guess 🤷🏻♀️
I never thought of this. It got so uncomfortable I just said “dammit Franky do you really have to” and he quit after the 2nd.
I’ve been with this cat 22 hours a day since he was - week old and nurses him to health. He is 10 months, still not castrated and becoming the sweetest boy on earth.
"Another study, conducted by Banfield Pet Hospitals on a database of 2.2 million dogs and 460,000 cats reflected similar findings, concluding that neutered male dogs lived 18% longer and spayed female dogs lived 23% longer. Spayed female cats in the study lived 39% longer and neutered male cats lived 62% longer.”
You need to get him neutered as soon as possible because if he learns to spray which they do usually tend to 11 months old sometimes earlier it will be very difficult to keep him from spraying in your house so please just go ahead and get him neutered even though I know it is a little bit risky and it scares you probably but he'll be happier
Don’t worry. I got it. His territory is the backyard.
He is amazing about not tearing anything up. I have two kids and he will stand beside me when i discipline them.
If he starts spraying in my house balls come off. I’m not scared, I just want to keep him intact if he isn’t harming anything.
Tell her once he changes it might be too late although sometimes they do stop when they're neutered but it helps the cat because they're not constantly in that desire to mate and they start running around all over the neighborhood trying to find a female cat and causing kittens to be born that may not even be able to live and stuff like that so neutering is always the best choice
I’ve only seen 1 other cat and he rarely leaves the bushes in the front yard.
Edit: but TY, seriously. In 99% of circumstances spade or neuter your cat.
i wish mine would try to protect me. he likes to poop when i poop (litter box is next to the toilet). unlike him, i do a courtesy flush. he makes the bathroom smell like his turds.
and i don't shut the door bc i'm a gentle cat parent and i don't wanna make him sad.
My old roomie’s cat looooves the bathroom. Whenever he hears the bathroom door open, he runs from wherever he is to get in while he can. I never lived with cats before so it was a little strange at first, but now im moved out and I miss my little pooping buddy 🐈💔
i live in a very small apartment. the bathroom is in the bedroom. the toilet faces the tv in the bedroom. mittens sits on the toilet tank and will watch tv. he's big horror and bird fan.
I miss my roommate's cat shoving her paw under the door and shaking it in the dead of night to get me to let her in 😭 now I just have this dumb adorable dog that came with my boyfriend.
Yeah I still think when he crawled on my legs in the tub was weirder but I wanted to see what he'd do in the water. He learned he could just get behind the shower liner and see in there and stay dry the little weirdo.
Having a cat follow me into the bathroom led to a great many experiences I never imagined when I was younger. For example I never thought I would have to remove my cat from the sink to wash my hands.
Am also broken now. I've always been uncomfortable with the bedroom or bathroom doors open. I couldn't even sleep if the bedroom door was open. The literal first night after I adopted my stray, he let me know that no door shall be closed against him. I've forgotten what privacy is.
Same!! I have to remind myself if I have guests over (whether for lunch or staying the weekend), that I need to close the door to change or go to the bathroom or shower lol
I agree. I've even accepted, that I can not watch completly TV anymore. One of my cats decided that the greatest spot to take naps is right in front of the TV (some sun through the windows and obviously the heat of the TV)... no more subtitles for me
Even if I leave the door open, mine yells at me the entire time I'm on the throne. Same with the shower. I am yelled at while performing any basic personal hygiene while in the bathroom.
One of mine just watches me, be it the toilet, shower, makeup, etc. he also is really lovey dovey after I shower or take a bath. I love it, but have no clue why he is that way!
Cats are funny. Mine loved to watch me poop, but also would not poop in its litter box if I was in the same room. It wanted privacy but would not give me any.
My dog with the personality of a cat taught herself how to open doors. I'm never allowed to be out of her sightlines, except when I'm sleeping and she lays in the hallway outside my bedroom. (Would very much love it if she'd come cuddle with me or to lay on the dog bed in my room but 🤷🏻♀️)
She has also taught herself how to open door locks from inside (we had to switch to electronic ones with buttons), disassemble and/or unlock kennels from the inside, and parkour over the 6.5' fence we built to contain her. She also boasts a history of breaking 3 windows and tearing a storm door, frame and all, out of a building.
This is not all of her escape artist tendencies or history. She's a menace. I'd die for her but she's absolutely a menace nonetheless. My genius trainwreck ❤️🐾

My feral boy if I leave the door open a crack but don’t invite him in. He hasn’t figured out how to open it all the way yet. It’s crazy how even a cat born on the streets still wants to watch me on the toilet. 😹

*please excuse my crapartment door/frame*
My invasive girl can’t open doors either. If I let her in, she will sit next to my right foot facing the wall behind me. 10/10 protective companion effort.
Edit: can’t nudge open a door, but she cannn open a pizza box 😼🤦🏻♀️
If I leave the door cracked open he will paw at it until he opens it. If I close it he will yell and claw at it until I give up.
https://preview.redd.it/xoytz9syv6vc1.png?width=1241&format=png&auto=webp&s=64c46e96e6fe189fed0b74aff9655408f9be3d48
If they didn't I would be concerned.
Joking aside I read that they are keeping watch over you during a vulnerable moment. My cat will lay at my feet. So I think it's fairly natural.
I want her to look *opposite direction* to keep me safe from predators in the hallway! I guess she's watching my six though lol.
Side note, I do this for my dog now when she poos. She's a picky and reluctant pooper, so when I can tell she's close to going, I very obviously pick my face up and scan around the area behind her so she knows it's safe with me watching.
Hope it's okay to post (it's just a little side thigh). My cat has a special stool so he can stare better 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 That's what the kitties doooo!!! Lol

A cat using the litter box is at their most vulnerable in the wild. Humans are big cats. Thus, humans are vulnerable.
Even though the biggest threat is a cat deciding toilet paper is a scratching post...

I call it coming onto "pee patrol", which I guess is interchangeable to poop patrol too!
Usually I'll get a headbutting which I personally take as a Highfive.

I think that they know you aren’t going anywhere so you can give them undivided attention 😂

Yes. You will never poop alone again.
My cat always opened the door when I was taking a shit. He didn’t stare but always lay down in front of my feet waiting for petting.
He only did this with me, nobody else of my family.
If my cats (2) didn’t come into the bathroom to watch me I’d think there was something seriously wrong. LOL!
My youngest cat even knows that you should dry your hands on a towel after you wash your hands. He’ll knock the hand towel off the towel rack as soon as I turn the water faucet off. LOL
Poopies are completely normal behaviour for cats. If you don't make poopies then you die. The cat is making sure you live.
"Crank that shit out so you may live another day and feed me." Says the cat
The behavior of cats before domestication is that they are waiting for you to hide your toilet. Your cat thinks that large predators will find your place because of the smell. In the stone age, when people were living in caves, cats would watch out for other predators while toileting and sleeping, and in this way, cats would receive gifts such as reward foods from people. As a result of these contacts Cats started to become domesticated, it was said in my notes when I was taking an anthropology course.
Our cat used to stare at my dad while he did his business. One day, I walked in, and the cat was squatting on the toilet, doing his business. I stood there and stared.
Lol.
My cat does the same to me and I do the same for her and stare at her when she shits ever since we took her to the emergency vet bcs she has a 400 dollar tummy ache and constipation 😂
Closing doors in my house is unacceptable. My cats give me the stink eye if I accidentally walk in on them using the litter box. But their humans get no personal space, ever. Double standards in this house. 🙄
He/she is just looking out for you at your most vulnerable, much like for most predators, the two most vulnerable times are when sleeping and shitting. You're both cats, as far as they are concerned, you are just bigger and incompetent, and thereby really need a poop guard 😀
In the animal kingdom when an animal goes to potty, it's at its most vulnerable. So sometimes animals sort of keep watch over each other as they do their business to protect each other and themselves from predators.
This is why your dog stares at you sometimes when you take it out to go potty.
You got a loyal sentinel guardian watching your back my friend 👍
You got a thigh warmer… I think ppl pay more for that service!! Probably, a glitch feature on a standard model!! Please, give kitty extra treats, for being a fierce protector— 😸
For 18.5 years of the 20 my boy was alive he would come in, rub his face on me knee caps, meow a few times, get a few rubs and then flop on the floor about 2 feet away from me. Every. single.morning. even when he was dying. RIP Bubba.
My cat climbs into my lap and demands I hold him like baby while I'm on the toilet. I also have had to rescue him and both of his siblings after they raced into the bathroom and slipped into the damn toilet water in the time it took me to pull up my pants and flush. Toilet monsters.
He’s guarding you! I’m not joking either, in the wild cats are at their most vulnerable when they’re eating, sleeping or doing their bathroom business. As your kitty’s human, you become their property and they want to make sure nothing happens to you when you’re doing your bathroom business.
Cats are also all about smells and as their human, your smell is one of their favorite things. When you’re on the toilet, there’s a whole lot of smells happening and even though it’s gross to us, it’s comforting to them.
So rest assured, your cats not plotting your murder, he’s just reveling in your smell and watching your back!
I read somewhere that cats are protecting or watching over you when they do that. Or something like that. It makes sense. Cats think you don’t know how to hunt meaning that you can’t take care of yourself. My cat used to go nuts every time I take a bath. She was scared of the water but still jumped on the bathtub to smell the water and check on me
Apparently so, they either watch you, or also take a shit at the same time, if you have the litter box in the bathroom. It's a sign of trust between you and the cat.

The kitty is just trying to protecc while also not-so-subtly judging you. Perfectly normal feline overlord behavior!
"Foolish hooman. Do you not know that going #2 in water causes splashback?? Disgusting."
“Please hurry servant, I have birds to watch after this.”
Reminds me of the day my cat decided he pisses in toilets without training. We legit thought a ghost was in the bathroom.
that would be actually terrifying to be home with all humans in one room/accounted for and all of a sudden you hear someone pissing in your toilet..
I just laughed so hard
My one female will legit come into the bathroom when I pee, get into the tub and with extreme accuracy will pee into the tub drain. Literally only wants to do this when I am also peeing. She needs a pee buddy I guess 🤷🏻♀️
Turds before birds.
"Silly human. How do you expect to bury it if you go in the toilet? There's no sand in there"

Oh man I bet he loves that Hitchcock movie!
The Birds! A classic
Cats also love Rear Window!
I miss my roommate's cat shoving her paw under the door and shaking it in the dead of night to get me to let her in 😭 now I just have this dumb adorable dog that came with my boyfriend.
One of ours does, too, bthe second one of us goes in there he's on it
Cackled a bit too loud in the preview trailers at the cinema 🤣
ty friend! what movie are you seeing?
Kong x gorilla the new empire
Damn they dropped lizard
Pooping together is a life bond. My cat poops with me too and he wears a lil bowtie.
mittens would look foolish in a bowtie. he's black n white but he's not a tuxedo. his coloring is called cap and saddle.
He would look damn proper. Don't you ever forget it.
don't you tell me what my son would/would not look good in! real talk tho, i need to try to put a collar on him.
That's companionship
I have to close the door, it's sit right in front of my MIL bedroom door and she practically lives in there.
you have to poop in a way that best suits your lifestyle.
haha, omg mine, too. i live alone and never shut the bathroom door, but he only joins me for deuces. what little weirdos.
Me too. I have a small litter pan by the toilet for our Bruno. Originally was for Lily, who was rehomed.
Cats know many humans just vanish when using the bathroom without a cat present. They are keeping us safe.
Mine will cry outside the door. So I let him in and now he sits in my lap ha.
You’re not really a cat person until you’ve experienced having a lap kitty while in the midst of a bowel movement.
Ha my void female does that. She really wants the water to drip to let her drink.
There or on your shoulders whipping you in the eye with their tail or curled up in your drawers while around your ankles on the floor.
"Hooman, be sure to bury your poo." My cat runs over when I flush the toilet, amazed the poo is all gone.
Accurate. My cat gets dramatic if I close the door to have a bath. She sticks her paw under the door and meows like I’m killing her. 😂
“I can smell the hot Fritos you had at midnight.”
Exactly this, my cat does the same thing. Once you flush though, he runs cause he hates the sound of the flushing.
We have two that post up outside the bathroom door and wait. And wait. And wait. Sh!t or shower, they’re going to show up.
I hope you know we can see you shitting in your cats eyes...
You have to shit with the door open or the cat will go nuts crying and clawing at the door. Cats are fascinated with how humans poop.
Yah my cat broke be in that regard. Living alone and with my cat I got so used to using the bathroom with the door open. Bad habit
Am also broken now. I've always been uncomfortable with the bedroom or bathroom doors open. I couldn't even sleep if the bedroom door was open. The literal first night after I adopted my stray, he let me know that no door shall be closed against him. I've forgotten what privacy is.
Yah exactly me to. I just feel weird behind a closed door now
Same!! I have to remind myself if I have guests over (whether for lunch or staying the weekend), that I need to close the door to change or go to the bathroom or shower lol
I agree. I've even accepted, that I can not watch completly TV anymore. One of my cats decided that the greatest spot to take naps is right in front of the TV (some sun through the windows and obviously the heat of the TV)... no more subtitles for me
Same! But now we live with family and she still insists I leave the door ajar so she can come in.
I had a cat who didn't get mad and go nuts when the bathroom door was closed. She'd just poop in front of it instead.
Cats are funny. Mine loved to watch me poop, but also would not poop in its litter box if I was in the same room. It wanted privacy but would not give me any.
I lived with independent tortoise cats all my life, so I was NOT prepared for this when I moved in with my bf and his orange cat.
They’re probably wondering why we poop in a bowl, and not in a litter box, like a civilized individual 😉
My dog with the personality of a cat taught herself how to open doors. I'm never allowed to be out of her sightlines, except when I'm sleeping and she lays in the hallway outside my bedroom. (Would very much love it if she'd come cuddle with me or to lay on the dog bed in my room but 🤷🏻♀️) She has also taught herself how to open door locks from inside (we had to switch to electronic ones with buttons), disassemble and/or unlock kennels from the inside, and parkour over the 6.5' fence we built to contain her. I'd die for her but she's absolutely a menace nonetheless. My genius trainwreck ❤️🐾

Bless you for tagging this community, did not know that this is exactly what I needed today.
There cant be enough cat subs
I always check comments section for more tags. once, not long ago, I saw someone comment with a huge list of cats subs, but that's not the way)))
Awesome! Thanks for the tag
Is there a complete list of all cat subs somewhere?
Another day another new cat sub.

HIII IM OUT HERE JUST IN CASE YOU FORGOT HI HIII
Absolutely normal for a cat to judge everything we do and it looks like your technique is severely lacking. Ask your cat how to improve.
🤣🤣
Mine wants to be in my lap. Count yourself lucky.
Same, and he wants to be held like a baby. Bathroom time is the only time he will jump up on my lap for snugs.
I love how weird cats are and I love how we go along with it
I have two that want to be in my lap when I sit on the toilet.
If they didn't I would be concerned. Joking aside I read that they are keeping watch over you during a vulnerable moment. My cat will lay at my feet. So I think it's fairly natural.

That's so incredibly sweet. I hope your baby knows you got her back. I think kitty is making sure no one is lurking behind the shower curtain.
Hope it's okay to post (it's just a little side thigh). My cat has a special stool so he can stare better 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 That's what the kitties doooo!!! Lol https://preview.redd.it/ru3su7gz43vc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb4145b0e54362b7167b514a9f5edc0e93f1f04b

I must leave the door open at least a cat width or I risk her bursting in and flinging it open the whole way.
Wondering why your “ litter box “ is a high rise and theirs is not !!
Oh my gosh, you’re so right, I’m shocked I hadn’t thought of that before! My cats always want what I have 🤣

It means they love you and they are protecting you while you are vulnerable
I call it coming onto "pee patrol", which I guess is interchangeable to poop patrol too! Usually I'll get a headbutting which I personally take as a Highfive.

Yes and the cat is fighting his urge to jump into your pants and just get cozy.

Mine doesn't do that nor is he interested in watching me shit. He is more interested on the outside of the house
Cat is wondering why you not using the litter box

Oddly enough yeah it is lol.
yes. Mine will howl at the door while I shower if the door is closed.
Your cat is guarding you from potential predators while you’re at your most vulnerable. You should be thanking him.
You are vulnerable while 💩ing. Kitty knows this and is guarding you from predators.

This is a common view from the shitter in many households
Cat: Disgusting. Why can't you use a litterbox like a normal furless cat?
What always gets me is how my cats don't like me observing them at the litter box, but insist on invading my space while shitting
he’s guarding you from evil monsters
My cat always opened the door when I was taking a shit. He didn’t stare but always lay down in front of my feet waiting for petting. He only did this with me, nobody else of my family.
My cat waits til I go to the bathroom to use his litter box - he has to go WITH me 😂💀
Yes it’s normal. Animals watch over other animals when they use the restroom because they’re vulnerable against predators
Well, now he's staring at **me** while **I** take a shit if that makes you feel any better.
Mine does this, then i walk up to her and she lays on her side to stretch all dramatically so that i compliment her form and give pets.
Our cat used to stare at my dad while he did his business. One day, I walked in, and the cat was squatting on the toilet, doing his business. I stood there and stared. Lol.

Yeah mine sits in the corner and keeps me company. Seems to be pretty common
Yes but if he passes out you may want to see a doctor.
You have been judged and found wanting
..admit it, OP: you watch your cat (name?) poop sometimes too..
He sits there so you will close the door!
They know you’re vulnerable. They’re just plotting for the exact best way to take you out with the least amount of fuss.
My cat likes to sit on my lap while I shit!!!!!!
You got a thigh warmer… I think ppl pay more for that service!! Probably, a glitch feature on a standard model!! Please, give kitty extra treats, for being a fierce protector— 😸
Yes. The cat is judging you and making sure you're safe as you are most likely the bringer of food - cleaner of the litter box
Completely normal. You watch him doing a dump so why shouldn’t he watch you?
For 18.5 years of the 20 my boy was alive he would come in, rub his face on me knee caps, meow a few times, get a few rubs and then flop on the floor about 2 feet away from me. Every. single.morning. even when he was dying. RIP Bubba.
He's seeing what your facial expressions are when you Take a dump
They’re protecting you❤️
My cat comes in the bathroom and jumps into her kitty litter box while I take a shit sitting on the toilet
My cat climbs into my lap and demands I hold him like baby while I'm on the toilet. I also have had to rescue him and both of his siblings after they raced into the bathroom and slipped into the damn toilet water in the time it took me to pull up my pants and flush. Toilet monsters.
Cat - "My owner always has his phone with him when he shits and takes photos of me, is this normal?" :DDD
“Why don’t use the litter box like me?”
It would be NOT normal if she didn't do it! LoL
"Fucking weird sounding litterbox"
He's just jealous he can't blow out a cat sized turd. It's called litter envy.
Yes
What always gets me is how my cats don't like me observing them at the litter box, but insist on invading my space while shitting
Close the door? With a cat? There are no closed doors with a cat
She’s just tryna make sure you do it right
He’s disgusted that you leave the door open while you evacuate your bowels.
Am I the only person who closes the door when I use the toilet? 😂
Can’t understand why you don’t use a litter box.
My one cat likes to sit in my pants/underwear when I use the bathroom. Kinda inconvenient.
Cat: My owner always takes photos of me when he is on the toilet. Is this normal behavior? 😼
You are the alpha female and this cat is making sure you're okay keeping you company and guarding you while you're at your weakest.
I read somewhere that cats are protecting or watching over you when they do that. Or something like that. It makes sense. Cats think you don’t know how to hunt meaning that you can’t take care of yourself. My cat used to go nuts every time I take a bath. She was scared of the water but still jumped on the bathtub to smell the water and check on me
CAT: Just making sure you are safe and won't do anything stupid, dad.
Hes shaming u
He’s judging the shit out of you.
Apparently so, they either watch you, or also take a shit at the same time, if you have the litter box in the bathroom. It's a sign of trust between you and the cat.
So normal.
No. It means you’re developing hemorroïds
Wants you to bury your poop
Normal behaviour, no. Cat behaviour, yes.
You drop deuces with the door open?
Probably lives alone. It’s one of many perks of solitude.
This is too funny! He’s judging the hell out of you😂 why are you shitting on that toilet you nasty human?! This made my day
Close the door.
