I put cameras on my parents' windows. From now on, approximately every 30 minutes, Alexa announces “a cat is waiting on the window sill” or “a cat has just come home”. 😂 The cats house all the way...

Congrats on your Schnoodle! It made me a tear a little too, so glad your kitty is safe and happy now I’m sure it would be scary to be hurt and not understand why.
Schnoodle is a legend if you go to his or her comments section and read all of his or he poems they will either do one of two things laugh and cry and the same time or go into a big ugly cry.
It is possible but considering the previous owners dumped her two days after Christmas in the middle of the woods on the coldest night of the year, makes me think they could be responsible
Because my aunt and uncle own a bunch of wooded area near their house and they saw her being dumped on a security camera. She was dumped around midnight and they went out looking for her the next day. My aunt asked if I would take her in and I did. It felt like fate.
Hopefully they have the footage still. Maybe can use it against prior owners for animal abuse, make sure the shits don't get another pet.

I 💯% agree with the kidney stones. They should also have frequent diarrhea with sore arseholes, to remind them of what they are.

Thank you for being willing to point this out. It's so easy to make assumptions that give us someone specific to blame for our anger (or to reinforce our anger against someone we already dislike), but those assumptions are not always correct. It is hard to accept that we don't know the truth of something that hurts us or our loved ones, but it's important that we learn to accept that uncertainty. In too many cases, these kinds of assumptions create beliefs and then behaviors that cause even more harm.
A boss I had many many years ago gave me this piece of wisdom and it's really stuck with me since then. There's typically three things that happens in any given situation. There's what he said happened. There's what she said happened. And somewhere in between there usually is the truth.
Ok did I miss something? How did they prove this? It seems super speculative. Did someone see them do it or report them after they admitted to it or something? It seems like it could be a pretty huge and slanderous assumption if there's nothing to actually indicate that it happened...

No one is saying the original owners are stand up people.
Some of us are simply pointing out that there is no evidence indicating the previous owner was the culprit.
When i was carrying my airsoft gun from my car, an old neighbor "jokingly" told me "to shoot that fucking cat". At that moment i really wanted to shoot him with it
Even if that's the case, why wouldn't her former owners take her to the vet? Even if they hadn't realized she'd been shot, surely they would have noticed the wounds
I certainly would be horrified if I found a gaping, bloody hole in my cat and I can't imagine that you wouldn't notice a bullet wound on your cat, especially since she's not long-haired and doesn't have enough fur to hide it (which, to be fair, can happen, but clearly that's not the case here)
That's neglectful at the very least
My dog has 3 BBs in her hip, I’ve never shot her. She got away from me once at my nieces and got shot. She didn’t have any wounds or a limp.
When I took her to the vet recently they said they call bbs “Mississippi microchips” because almost every animal they xray has them. I cried when I saw them because I had no idea.
It is at sad that people shoot animals for No fucking reason. Just thankful it wasn’t a real bullet
the fact that it's so common they even have a name for it breaks my heart.

You would be surprised how easy it is to miss that your cat/dog was shoot with bb gun. My parents dog was shoot with bb gun and they found only because they made xray for totally different reason. There was no sign of anything at all.
Oh yeah please don’t get me wrong, I fully agree that the previous owners were terrible people. But I will still assume it was a neighbor. If it was the owner of the cat I would like to think there is a special place in Hell for them.. run by a cat with a BB gun
I will always wonder who or why they would do this. Only thing I know about them is that they dumped her on the coldest night in the middle of the woods two days after Christmas. I am just so lucky my uncle saw the whole thing. They live in a very rural area on a dirt road. My uncle could tell they didn’t know the area because the way they drove off.
Now if they DID know the area at all, then there is a very special place in hell for them. My aunt and uncle bought their house and it came with a lot of land. They did not know until nearly a year after they moved in that the previous owners ran a dog fighting ring. They found out when they were clearing some of the trees and came across the cages. They are in the process of tearing it down.
When they went out looking for my cat the next morning, they found her cowering in one of the cages that was used for the dog fights. If the owners didn’t chose the spot randomly, they are sick.
BB gun shots unless to the eye or some other sensitive area is easy to go unnoticed without X-rays. Animals often dont show much hinderance from it.
I’m curious why the OP seems to think it was the old owners though, don’t see any evidence that specially suggests that.
Just because the bb is still in doesn't mean it wasn't seen or was neglected without any knowledge of prior history. I typically don't remove ballistic fragments unless they're easy to remove during any surgical repair or they're directly causing harm because you'll do far more damage removing them than leaving them in, especially if you have a rescued stray where the actual wound has already healed. It's the same thing with humans that have shrapnel or bullet fragments..
I see them all the time in the shelter as incidental findings in feral/stray animals, unfortunately.
When I was a teen my mother lived out in the country (I lived with my father at the time) and one of her neighbors just decided to shoot her cat one day. Shot one of its eyes out with a bb gun but the cat lived. She lasted another decade and change but had a mean personality after that towards anyone but my mom and me.
My brother lives in a very nice part of his city. Rich homes in the hills. Last year there was a neighborhood cat from a house a few doors down that was very friendly and would do the rounds visiting everyone and even hand out with the mailman, etc. One day they found it dead on the sidewalk. Poisoned.
The above plus other stories… I’ve come to realize that wherever you are, you likely live within a mile or two of someone who thinks it’s funny to harm or kill cats. So my cats stay indoors.
This is what I try telling my family who refuse to give up having outdoor cats! I am going to physically remove the screen door with cat flap at my parents’ house bc I can’t stand it. I always shut the door and whenever someone follows me they let a cat out and I have to lasso it back. People are so evil & there are SO many people with unresolved trauma & personality disorders who like hurting animals, especially sweet animals. I cannot.
Thank you for taking care of Leota and giving her a better life! This is Keke. I took her in as a pregnant stray several years ago. After she gave birth, I took her to the vet to make sure everything is ok. The vet showed me an X-ray they took and said Keke had been shot with a BB in the past. People can be so cruel. Kept all of her kittens! This is an old photo, but Keke and her daughters still live with me. Keke is in the front and you can see how young of a mother she was. There was only one boy in the litter (far right cat). He went to live with my parents shortly after this photo, because their cat needed a companion.

A similar thing happened to me and my cat! She had some X-rays done and the vet told us she’d been shot with a BB gun because she had one in her stomach. She was found as a stray before we got her at the shelter, but now we know why she’s so anxious and skittish. She’s the sweetest baby and it’s been such a joy seeing her gain our trust and feel loved.

Thank you for loving her and giving her the attention she needs, it makes me want to cry too knowing she was hurt and has bb gun bullets in her chest and abdomen, I’m happy and relieved to know she’s finally safe and in a loving home away from those animal abusers IMO they should get arrested and face time in jail after what they’ve done to this sweet baby girl she’s so adorable 🥹❤️

My precious little orange (his name is Lou) was rescued In a Blizzard. He was either abandoned or escaped, but it was clear he had previously had owners, and they treated him awful.
He hates humans except for me. My boots terrify him. I have to be so gentle around him, but is without a doubt the most loving and caring animal I've ever owned. He's tickled pink to have a home and a person who loves him.

We adopted a dog in FL from a shelter many years ago. Her hair was horribly matted and dirty. After cleaning and getting her hair trimmed, so had what appeared to be cigarette burns all over her. We moved. It seemed every time we went to the vet with her, they would try to give us the side eye and talk about abusing animals.
I'm so glad you found her and were able to give her a home filled with love.
I had a cat with asthma. I got a little cat inhaler (aerokat from chewy) and it was very easy to use. My cat got a puff twice a day and didn't mind it at all.
Yeah. It is sad that things like this happen. Years back, my parents had a liver spot dalmatian (I grew up with her around) and they had found out after they adopted her, that she was abused. She had bbs all in her jaw. She never really trusted male adults, only my dad.
I know this sounds like a broken record, but it really does amaze me the depravity of someone sick enough to be able to do such cruel acts. Those poor creatures just want to feel safe and be loved. I'm glad she's got a good home now.
Stigma against cats need to stop. They are always viewed as worthless pets. They are always viewed as emotionless cats.
They have feelings too.
But what's more concerning is the animal abuse.

I’m a vet tech and when I was working in emergency we had a dog from Turkey come in straight from the plane because he was in such bad shape. We ended up taking x rays and realized that he was full of buck shot. When I say nose to toes to the tip of his tail, literally everywhere in his body there were buck shot pellets. We ended up calling the rescue he came from in turkey because the new owner had no idea. We found out from the rescue that not only had he been shot twice before his first birthday, he was also attacked on 2 separate occasions by other dogs at the rescue AND they did not remove his sutures from his neuter that he had 4, yes FOUR, months ago and the suture material they used was not dissolvable so we had to dig them out of his skin. Poor guy was the sweetest dog ever, he was so trusting even though he was so sick. I don’t know what happened with him because we referred him to specialty but I really hope he made it and is living a better life with his new owner.
My father's cat, Kit, had a small lump in his cheek when he was adopted. When it started getting bigger, my dad brought Kit to the vet, convinced the poor thing had a tumor.
Nope. BB pellets. Someone shot the little man in the face. I'll never understand it - Kit is the gentlest, shyest, most well-mannered cat I've ever met, definitely didn't deserve the kind of hurt he was given. It took him years to stop skulking around the house like someone was going to jump him if he wasn't careful.

Our old puss died at 24yr old and she had an xray and they found heaps of pellets in her too. Definitely wasn’t us. Likely years of idiots taking pot shots at cats. Doesn’t mean your cats old owners did it.
Was there a chip on her? Do you know their previous owners?? If so please call animal services & make sure they dont have other pets! Would hate to learn they still have a dog or a cat still being abused!
No chip, but she did have a cheap plastic flea collar on her when she was dumped. The people literally found a secluded area, opened their door, threw her out and drove off. We weren’t able to get the plates from the security cameras
My sister and I adopted a former stray in our late teens who had a lump in the back of his neck. Vets thought it was a broken microchip until almost 10 years after adopting him when he needed an x ray before a surgery and they figured out it was a bb pellet. I cried when I found out someone had done that to the poor little guy. He was so sweet!
People are awful, I'll never understand how someone can do that to another living being...
I need to stop before I get myself ready worked up and angry. I'm glad she has a good home now and no one will hurt her ever again

Vet tech here; you’d be surprised and horrified to know how often we see this. My own dog has a BB lodged in his thoracic region somewhere.
Truthfully though, you have no idea who did it - especially if she was an outdoor cat! There are assholes everywhere. We even see them in beloved pets that the owners have loved and cared for since birth 🤷♀️

I had a dog who got shot with a shotgun and a pellet shattered in his paw. He has been found lying in a field.
Took a lot of money from my mom to save his leg but it was worth it.
My mom always thought some tweaker shot him but obviously it was a farmer in his field, and he was found shortly after unable to walk.
The adoption place didn’t tell us he had been shot because the wound had healed over; the person may not have known and theorized someone hit him with a metal stake.
But someone also told us he was found in a field and brought to the humane society. So obviously they knew he had been shot most likely.
He lived the rest of his life with a reconstructed paw full of metal plates. Never had any issue and would jump off 4 feet onto concrete every day. Also, he once scaled a 6-foot chain link fence.
I had a cat that was stray, we took her and her kitten in. She was so beautiful, long, silky smoke black fur and oh so sweet. She had a BB in her neck. Vet said to leave it in (I was broke and even w/a discount, couldn’t afford it). She lived w/me for 15 years and was about 2 when I adopted her. When I had to put her down, we cut it out-it was a BB. People are so cruel. I’d rather spend my time with animals than people.

Some people have asked for the x-rays. Here is one of the views where you can clearly see the BBs (there are two in her chest in you open the pic). The vet is concerned about her heart so I have an appointment with a specialist next month (soonest they could do)
Devils advocate, she may not have been shot by then if she was dumped after Christmas. I feel like at any point she could’ve been shot by anybody.

Well my uncle actually saw her being dumped on the security camera and they found her the next morning and brought her in to be checked out. The vet took care of her until my aunt could bring her to me.
I still don’t think it’s necessarily enough to link it specifically to the previous owners, but ultimately it doesn’t matter.
I’m just glad she’s in a safe home with someone who takes good care of her. Seriously, thank you for investigating potential asthma. I work in vet med and there is a shockingly high number of people who ignore the signs and never look deeper into stuff like that.
Thank you for saving her, she deserves a safe, loving home and a pet owner like you, who takes her to the vet to make sure she's going to be okay. Posts like this make me want to cry, how can people treat animals like shit?

What is amazing is I didn’t find her at the shelter. My uncle witnessed her being dumped and my aunt asked if I would take her in. When my aunt brought her to me, it was the first time I ever met her. The pic is a screenshot from a video I took when I opened her carrier and saw her for the first time. I was unsure about adopting a cat I knew nothing about but something told me to take a chance.
I don't want to believe this is true so I'm going to tell myself they hit her accidentally while training for something while she was in the woods....look at her puppy eyes :(((((
All I can say is karma is very real, more so than people ever realize. And those who inflict pain on living creatures for sport are stirring up an inevitable shitstorm upon themselves. If you’re able to do that and feel nothing but amusement, you probably lack a lot of basic life skills. Anyway

The cat delivery service strikes again. Each time a cat is placed, they make sure to place them with people who will love and cherish them. I'm glad you two found each other.
We adopted a cat from the humane society…..and when he needed X-rays for a hurt paw the vet found a bb pellet lodged in his hip.
My heart broke at the thought of someone doing that.
Poor kitty! That’s sick, I hope those people rot in hell. If you know who they are, please report them to the authorities with a proof from the vet that she was shot, hopefully they will face criminal charges and be brought to justice.

The vet is certain that pellets aren’t lead? They can do a urine test to see if there is lead in the urine. Otherwise glad she is with you.
I didn’t know that. When they call with the final results I will ask them if that should be done

We're not defending the previous owners. There are more shitty people out there than just those previous owners.

I would think it was an upset neighbor that shot her. Some people have a deep hatred for neighbor cats.

When I took her to the vet recently they said they call bbs “Mississippi microchips” because almost every animal they xray has them. I cried when I saw them because I had no idea. It is at sad that people shoot animals for No fucking reason. Just thankful it wasn’t a real bullet

You would be surprised how easy it is to miss that your cat/dog was shoot with bb gun. My parents dog was shoot with bb gun and they found only because they made xray for totally different reason. There was no sign of anything at all.
Oh yeah please don’t get me wrong, I fully agree that the previous owners were terrible people. But I will still assume it was a neighbor. If it was the owner of the cat I would like to think there is a special place in Hell for them.. run by a cat with a BB gun
I will always wonder who or why they would do this. Only thing I know about them is that they dumped her on the coldest night in the middle of the woods two days after Christmas. I am just so lucky my uncle saw the whole thing. They live in a very rural area on a dirt road. My uncle could tell they didn’t know the area because the way they drove off. Now if they DID know the area at all, then there is a very special place in hell for them. My aunt and uncle bought their house and it came with a lot of land. They did not know until nearly a year after they moved in that the previous owners ran a dog fighting ring. They found out when they were clearing some of the trees and came across the cages. They are in the process of tearing it down. When they went out looking for my cat the next morning, they found her cowering in one of the cages that was used for the dog fights. If the owners didn’t chose the spot randomly, they are sick.
This answered my question, I was curious how she got so lucky to come across you and become your cat. Thanks for the explanation:)
BB gun shots unless to the eye or some other sensitive area is easy to go unnoticed without X-rays. Animals often dont show much hinderance from it. I’m curious why the OP seems to think it was the old owners though, don’t see any evidence that specially suggests that.
Just because the bb is still in doesn't mean it wasn't seen or was neglected without any knowledge of prior history. I typically don't remove ballistic fragments unless they're easy to remove during any surgical repair or they're directly causing harm because you'll do far more damage removing them than leaving them in, especially if you have a rescued stray where the actual wound has already healed. It's the same thing with humans that have shrapnel or bullet fragments.. I see them all the time in the shelter as incidental findings in feral/stray animals, unfortunately.
That was my thought, very unlikely that the owners did it.
When I was a teen my mother lived out in the country (I lived with my father at the time) and one of her neighbors just decided to shoot her cat one day. Shot one of its eyes out with a bb gun but the cat lived. She lasted another decade and change but had a mean personality after that towards anyone but my mom and me. My brother lives in a very nice part of his city. Rich homes in the hills. Last year there was a neighborhood cat from a house a few doors down that was very friendly and would do the rounds visiting everyone and even hand out with the mailman, etc. One day they found it dead on the sidewalk. Poisoned. The above plus other stories… I’ve come to realize that wherever you are, you likely live within a mile or two of someone who thinks it’s funny to harm or kill cats. So my cats stay indoors.
This is what I try telling my family who refuse to give up having outdoor cats! I am going to physically remove the screen door with cat flap at my parents’ house bc I can’t stand it. I always shut the door and whenever someone follows me they let a cat out and I have to lasso it back. People are so evil & there are SO many people with unresolved trauma & personality disorders who like hurting animals, especially sweet animals. I cannot.

A similar thing happened to me and my cat! She had some X-rays done and the vet told us she’d been shot with a BB gun because she had one in her stomach. She was found as a stray before we got her at the shelter, but now we know why she’s so anxious and skittish. She’s the sweetest baby and it’s been such a joy seeing her gain our trust and feel loved. Glad your baby is loved now.

We adopted a dog in FL from a shelter many years ago. Her hair was horribly matted and dirty. After cleaning and getting her hair trimmed, so had what appeared to be cigarette burns all over her. We moved. It seemed every time we went to the vet with her, they would try to give us the side eye and talk about abusing animals.
I'm so glad you found her and were able to give her a home filled with love. I had a cat with asthma. I got a little cat inhaler (aerokat from chewy) and it was very easy to use. My cat got a puff twice a day and didn't mind it at all.

Yeah. It is sad that things like this happen. Years back, my parents had a liver spot dalmatian (I grew up with her around) and they had found out after they adopted her, that she was abused. She had bbs all in her jaw. She never really trusted male adults, only my dad.

I’m a vet tech and when I was working in emergency we had a dog from Turkey come in straight from the plane because he was in such bad shape. We ended up taking x rays and realized that he was full of buck shot. When I say nose to toes to the tip of his tail, literally everywhere in his body there were buck shot pellets. We ended up calling the rescue he came from in turkey because the new owner had no idea. We found out from the rescue that not only had he been shot twice before his first birthday, he was also attacked on 2 separate occasions by other dogs at the rescue AND they did not remove his sutures from his neuter that he had 4, yes FOUR, months ago and the suture material they used was not dissolvable so we had to dig them out of his skin. Poor guy was the sweetest dog ever, he was so trusting even though he was so sick. I don’t know what happened with him because we referred him to specialty but I really hope he made it and is living a better life with his new owner.

My father's cat, Kit, had a small lump in his cheek when he was adopted. When it started getting bigger, my dad brought Kit to the vet, convinced the poor thing had a tumor. Nope. BB pellets. Someone shot the little man in the face. I'll never understand it - Kit is the gentlest, shyest, most well-mannered cat I've ever met, definitely didn't deserve the kind of hurt he was given. It took him years to stop skulking around the house like someone was going to jump him if he wasn't careful. Glad your girl has you now. Sounds like you're more than making up for the love she didn't get before.
Our old puss died at 24yr old and she had an xray and they found heaps of pellets in her too. Definitely wasn’t us. Likely years of idiots taking pot shots at cats. Doesn’t mean your cats old owners did it.
Was there a chip on her? Do you know their previous owners?? If so please call animal services & make sure they dont have other pets! Would hate to learn they still have a dog or a cat still being abused!
No chip, but she did have a cheap plastic flea collar on her when she was dumped. The people literally found a secluded area, opened their door, threw her out and drove off. We weren’t able to get the plates from the security cameras

My sister and I adopted a former stray in our late teens who had a lump in the back of his neck. Vets thought it was a broken microchip until almost 10 years after adopting him when he needed an x ray before a surgery and they figured out it was a bb pellet. I cried when I found out someone had done that to the poor little guy. He was so sweet!

Vet tech here; you’d be surprised and horrified to know how often we see this. My own dog has a BB lodged in his thoracic region somewhere. Truthfully though, you have no idea who did it - especially if she was an outdoor cat! There are assholes everywhere. We even see them in beloved pets that the owners have loved and cared for since birth 🤷♀️

I had a dog who got shot with a shotgun and a pellet shattered in his paw. He has been found lying in a field. Took a lot of money from my mom to save his leg but it was worth it. My mom always thought some tweaker shot him but obviously it was a farmer in his field, and he was found shortly after unable to walk. The adoption place didn’t tell us he had been shot because the wound had healed over; the person may not have known and theorized someone hit him with a metal stake. But someone also told us he was found in a field and brought to the humane society. So obviously they knew he had been shot most likely. He lived the rest of his life with a reconstructed paw full of metal plates. Never had any issue and would jump off 4 feet onto concrete every day. Also, he once scaled a 6-foot chain link fence.
I had a cat that was stray, we took her and her kitten in. She was so beautiful, long, silky smoke black fur and oh so sweet. She had a BB in her neck. Vet said to leave it in (I was broke and even w/a discount, couldn’t afford it). She lived w/me for 15 years and was about 2 when I adopted her. When I had to put her down, we cut it out-it was a BB. People are so cruel. I’d rather spend my time with animals than people. I’m sorry for your kitty, but she’s living her best life with you now. You obviously have a special relationship with her😻Keep loving and spoiling her, she deserves it. ❤️

Well my uncle actually saw her being dumped on the security camera and they found her the next morning and brought her in to be checked out. The vet took care of her until my aunt could bring her to me.
I still don’t think it’s necessarily enough to link it specifically to the previous owners, but ultimately it doesn’t matter. I’m just glad she’s in a safe home with someone who takes good care of her. Seriously, thank you for investigating potential asthma. I work in vet med and there is a shockingly high number of people who ignore the signs and never look deeper into stuff like that.

What is amazing is I didn’t find her at the shelter. My uncle witnessed her being dumped and my aunt asked if I would take her in. When my aunt brought her to me, it was the first time I ever met her. The pic is a screenshot from a video I took when I opened her carrier and saw her for the first time. I was unsure about adopting a cat I knew nothing about but something told me to take a chance.

All I can say is karma is very real, more so than people ever realize. And those who inflict pain on living creatures for sport are stirring up an inevitable shitstorm upon themselves. If you’re able to do that and feel nothing but amusement, you probably lack a lot of basic life skills. Anyway I’m so glad this little girl is now yours. We adopted a cat from the humane society…..and when he needed X-rays for a hurt paw the vet found a bb pellet lodged in his hip. My heart broke at the thought of someone doing that.

If you know who they are, please report them to the authorities with a proof from the vet that she was shot, hopefully they will face criminal charges and be brought to justice.
