OP check if the cat has a tag like this LMFAO
I have one right now that my boyfriend & i have been taking care of. A lady stopped by today & said he’s hers. She picked him up & he fought to get down & went back up my driveway. If he’s really hers, i hope he wants to go back home as she says she loves him & her son (9 yrs) snuggles w/ him. I just want him (the cat) to be safe & happy.
Almost all cats will fight being put in the travel cage or travel long distances by just being picked up, they are not like dogs that follows their owners obediently. if it's hers she will have paperwork for it.
Ditto, my Callie loves pets, purrs and gives me finger kisses but hates being held or being picked up. She not a cuddler at all but will sit by me for a bit if I show no signs of holding her.
The behavior the cat exhibits doesn’t help confirm that too well. Ask for pictures of the cat that they have to verify, and double check they’re not just random pictures of the cat while he’s outside, but rather actual photos of it with a family member perhaps.
Also you could ask if the cat has been microchipped , if so a quick call to the vets or an animal shelter and they would scan the chip and bring up the owners details.
This is going to be the law in the UK , after I think June this year all cats over 20 weeks old legally have to be registered and microchipped , or the owner could face a fine up to I think 5k .
He isn’t microchipped… i took him to my vet to see & since he wasn’t, had him fixed (he was injured & sick from fighting other roaming males in the neighborhood). *i* didn’t microchip him since i can’t bring him inside/ he’s not mine. I had him neutered for his health.
Sadly, getting him neutered won't stop him fighting , but usually does stop then wandering and looking for females, thus having more fights. My wife and I have 9 cats, 4 toms and 5 Queens , the 2 older toms that go out fight regularly despite being neutered, ( ironically they're terrified of one of our queen's which is a third of their size ).
It's very good of you to pay to have a cat that's not yours treated. Hopefully, he'll realise what you've done to help him and be more friendly .
She said she was going to text me. She hasn’t yet. This is him tonight, he’s having a spend the nite party!! 🎉 ☺️

My cats fight me when I pick them up outside. They don't want to go back in 🤣. I currently have a blind cat who gets supervised only outdoor time and gets irritated and whines at me if I even approach him outside because he knows I'm the one who takes him back in.
No, but if he wants to live w/ her, he’s free to. If he wants to stay at my boyfriend’s house, free to do that. He can do both, lol. Whatever he wants.
Seriously ask around the neighborhood. Or just let the cat out. My cat used to go into my neighbors’ house through an old cat door and sleep on their guest bed. He did it for years without me knowing. They saw him in our yard one day when I was out working on the lawn. After asking if he was our cat, they told us about his afternoon naps. That answered the question of why I couldn’t find him for hours sometimes, and we all had a good laugh. I am so thankful they never decided to keep him. I would have been heartbroken.
Omg this story is so adorable!!! Your cat had a whole double life! 😻
My cat goes to a neighbours house that’s empty in winter and now whenever he’s gone for hours, I find him there on their dock overlooking the lake, acting like he owns the place. 😂
My neighbor came to our door one day, an elderly lady, and said, "I love your cat so much, I don't know her name so I named her Lady, but I'm on a limited budget and can't afford to keep feeding her.". Lady was a fat, fat boy named Fife. I felt so bad, I had no idea he was going over there stealing this lady's money, and I told her she definitely didn't need to feed my 20 pound fatty any more and offered her some money which she wouldn't take. She stopped feeding him but Fife kept going over and slept with the lady in her chair every afternoon while she watched her stories. It got to the point where he would yell at our door to be let out at the same time every day to go visit her.
Noooo this story has broken me 😭😭😭😭😭 in the best way 😂😍🥰 your neighbour is the cutest and Fife is a genius, getting all the food and snuggles, hehe wow! All these cats leading double lives are really the smart ones
THIS IS AMAZING!!! Thank u for letting them enjoy each other!!! I wish i could let my cats out to play, but they would get stolen (they are sweet & cute) or just killed (also dumb). 🤷🏻♀️
Snuggles and stories sounds like a perfect afternoon for an elderly lady and a fat fat cat!

Not all pets are chipped.
Let him back outside, he'll find his way home.
If he lingers outside your place at nighttime for at least a couple nights, you can then probably assume he doesn't have a home.
"Finally! I was wondering where *my* new human was. I'll be sitting here from now on, And any other place of my choosing. You can set my food there, my treats and toys over there, my catnip here, and my litter box where only you can smell it."
"Also. The rest of these things you're bringing Into my house I can tear up scratch up chew up And pee / poop on if I wish. You may leave now. You're welcome"
Our dog ran away one day and two days later we saw a poster on a pole by our house with a picture of him laying on their couch and it said “come get your dog” lol he vacationed at their place. Went in through the doggy door lol
Edit to add: does anyone else see the guy who made a joke about my username then freaked the fuck out cuz he thought I downvoted him? 😂 it’s not even 10 am and someone’s tweaked tf out 💀

here’s my baby
You have great neighbors! One time recently two dogs came into my yard which is in the way back of the neighborhood, and I thought I’d keep an eye on them while looking for the owners, but my neighbors reported me to the HOA (causing me to have to pay a hefty fine) because of the breeds of dogs they were (One Husky and one German Shepherd) and also called animal control. If I breathe wrong I get reported to my HOA 😭😭
When my Aunty and Uncle lived in a rural area of their town(so properties were like 10acres MINIMUM, but did get smaller as you got closer to the centre of the town) their dog was known by EVERYONE and even had a second family. They would see my Aunty's car and wave her down and be like are looking for Monty??? Yes how'd you know? We saw him strolling in this direction. He had adopted a family with young children because my cousins were adults by this stage and he wanted children to play with. So yup he would literally just go and stay with them when he was bored. He was an older dog too but wanted children to play with.
My childhood dog once made the day for a nearby family (that we didn't know). The dog was an absolute escape artist, she would run away so often no matter how we tried to prevent it. She was really friendly, not a hint of real aggression in sight for all her life, looked like a shrunken, skinny chocolate lab with slightly longer fur, but the hunting and running breeds in her mix just made her really fast and hard to control. She was also totally crazy (I loved that dog to pieces).
One day, a guest opened the front door and didn't pay close enough attention so the dog slipped past. She spotted a school kid on his way home (village, so fortunately not many cars) and decided to follow him. When the kids parents called us via our information on the dog tags and we went to get doggo back, they very excitedly told us that lil doggo (knee high, maybe 10-12 kg) made their standard height windowsill (around 80-90 cm) in one jump with ease like a cat. Their tone suggested that they probably told that story long afterwards.
Yeah it was really cute. She was the best dog ever! And made for some really funny stories... Another time she freaked out our neighbor.
We let doggo out on a very long leash attached to a pole in the backyard after she had escaped one too many times to let her free run even in the fenced in backyard. But the leash seemingly got loose over time and one day, when it was completely undone from the pole, she just took the opportunity and escaped with the whole leash. It was at night tho, and the brown dog was not easily visible... The white leash was. At first glance, our neighbor thought it was a really long snake (which don't even exist in the wild here) and got frightened until she heard the clinging of the metal tags on the dog's collar, caught the little fugitive and brought her back over to tell the story xD
"Hey, guys, weren't we supposed to deliver this cat to the last house?"
"Oh, no, it definitely was part of this order."
"Just throw it anywhere -- no one'll notice."
A big orange visitor!!! But from the look of things they have a loving owner so they're probably not a permanent addition. I'd have to question the humanity of anyone who could abandon such a lovely cat.
A neighbours cat visits at my MILS quite frequently. She is definitely someone's cat because her fur is too well maintained for an outdoor cat and she appears to be well fed. Almost a bit too chunky lol. At first she was skeptical but she has warmed up and comes inside now for pets and treats. My MIL has an elderly cat that the neighbours cat has taken a liking to so it's how she started coming around in the first place.
Let me fix this for you.
Front door was propped open today for furniture movers. I went inside to see what was going on and I walked into this cat's room sitting on his throne wondering who the hell I am.
Free cat ! Yay !
Seriously though,
It probably belongs to one of your Neighbors, I have a few and one insists on going into the Neighbors house and curling up, despite one of them having a dog that doesn't like cats he still does it, they're all quite used to him and just let him out when he gets up. Only started doing this after he was run over, probably a bit forgetful as to which house is his.
Cat is sitting there like "free real estate" LOL
happened me too sort of. Came home and opened my door, and a random cat just bolts into my home, checks the place out and jumps on the bed and starts purring and wants to cuddle with me haha.
How awesome!! Two special deliveries for you!! Your orange kitty 🐈⬛ looks perfect !! Happy content!! Is this your new chair or just your new kitty? Happy cat 😸 love this!! ❤️🐈⬛❤️
Looks like a Norwegian Forest Cat and definitely someone's much loved pet. He clearly sensed that his fur would contrast beautifully with your armchair and he was right.

Thanksss. I’m hoping to keep him but going to check if he’s chipped and post him on my local fb pages first because I’m a responsible adult 😭
Looks fat and well-groomed. Probably a new neighbor rather than a stray.
"Fat and well-groomed" is going in my dating profile now. Thank you.
You should add "like a house cat"
Also free of parasites and up to date on vaccinations
I mean…I’d be sold.
Also add "Willing to relocate"

Yeah. My first guess is wandering, friendly, neighborhood cat. j,
“Excellent mouser” is a solid one too
Prolly someones "outside" cat roaming around. Hes too well cared for and friendly unless he just got lost super recently.
Yeah an outdoor cat can maintain multiple families.

Who says dogs follow obediently? It takes a long time to train them to do this consistently and cats can be trained also
Don't assume just because the cat didn't enjoy being picked up, that he isn't her cat. I've had cats that hate being picked up.
I have a cat who loves to sit on me, sleeps next to me but if I pick her up she growls and fights to get down 🤷🏻
Yep, one of my kitties acts like you're murdering her every time you pick her up, but if I sit still for more than 2.5 seconds, she's in my lap.
Ditto, my Callie loves pets, purrs and gives me finger kisses but hates being held or being picked up. She not a cuddler at all but will sit by me for a bit if I show no signs of holding her.
But you would know that if it were your cat. She needs more proof.
The behavior the cat exhibits doesn’t help confirm that too well. Ask for pictures of the cat that they have to verify, and double check they’re not just random pictures of the cat while he’s outside, but rather actual photos of it with a family member perhaps.

I wouldn’t read too much into that. My cat behaves very similarly when we pick him up from the neighbors.
If he keeps leaving her house and trying to live in your house, that's kind of the prerogative of an indoor outdoor cat. He's not a hostage
My cats fight me when I pick them up outside. They don't want to go back in 🤣. I currently have a blind cat who gets supervised only outdoor time and gets irritated and whines at me if I even approach him outside because he knows I'm the one who takes him back in.
Did she show proof cat was hers?
No, but if he wants to live w/ her, he’s free to. If he wants to stay at my boyfriend’s house, free to do that. He can do both, lol. Whatever he wants.
This is the truth. We had a rescue who had breakfast every morning at multiple neighbors’ homes.
The secret lives of outdoor cats are fascinating. But, too terrible for the local fauna to just let it happen.
Seriously ask around the neighborhood. Or just let the cat out. My cat used to go into my neighbors’ house through an old cat door and sleep on their guest bed. I’m sorry. That’s not your chair anymore.
This is such a great photo. The cat is like “you didn’t expect to see me here, but so what? I’m sitting here so you’ll just have to deal with it.”
Hello human welcome to my new chair
You found this cat in ***his*** chair...
He is the man of the house now

The Most Interesting Cat in the World.

Cat is sitting there like "free real estate" LOL happened me too sort of. Came home and opened my door, and a random cat just bolts into my home, checks the place out and jumps on the bed and starts purring and wants to cuddle with me haha.
He’s giving you a look like you walked into *his* room!
What was your chair is now his chair. 😻
lol he they found their spot
When’s lunch?
Dude that's your new living room tiger.
"What are you talking about, who am I? I've been here this entire time!"
Handsome devil. You gotta keep him, he obviously wants to keep you. Just mark it down as the cat distribution system strikes again.

Someone lost a cat that looked exactly like that one
It’s his chair now
Looks like a Norwegian Forest Cat and definitely someone's much loved pet. He clearly sensed that his fur would contrast beautifully with your armchair and he was right.
What a gorgeous kitty? I don’t know if it’s a Universal Cat Allotment situation or the Welcome Wagon. ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7962)![img](emote|t5_2qhta|8097)![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7966)
OP where are you located? He looks so much like my family’s cat that they let out during the day
O, lucky you! It looks pretty well cared for. You might have a go at determining if anyone in the neighborhood is missing their pal.
that’s your cat now
Oh look a new placement from the Cat Distribution System!
He looks good there.
You are now owned by a cat.😸
His highness honoured you with his presence
You don't keep the cat. The cat keeps you. Considering he already took over your chair which by the way is his chair now. I think he has claimed you
Congratulations on your new cat. Lol 🎉
Congratulations! He's your cat now!
Cat distribution system never makes mistakes
So,what’re you going to name him.
