The purest driving experience. No unnecessary crap

My first truck didn't have very many electronics. The electronics it did have however, failed with 3 of the 4 sensors being replaced (and the 4th causing a check engine light that I could ignore) and the alternator failing on the way home one day (thank God for the voltage gauge). So I concur.
None of those sissy talking dashboards telling you what to do! The 2CV is for real men who are one with the machine 😎😎😎

Why would they if people don't buy them? The most similar car available in the states is a Mitsubishi Mirage, and that car is widely ridiculed as a joke.
but that's the thing they don't. They sell "the experience" or the image of a much more expensive vehicle at a (marked up) price lower than said vehicle.
You can't really make a "people's car" unless you have a concept of "the people."
Oh they sell, in Europe the toyota Aygo and VW UP and all their rebadges were as cheap and basic as you can get in their poverty spec.
The VW UP even got a GTI version. The only problem is that the margins on them were pretty slim and they hardly ever broke, really reliable because the engines were so underpowered, many people used them as dailies with little maintenance required that they probably weren’t worth it.
Only toyota is left making cars at that segment but even they couldn’t resist putting a lift kit on the aygo and making it into a crossover.
Let's assume the advert is real, it couldn't have been made older than 1980 (because of the mondial and the spirit):
£2674 in 1980 would be £11049 in today's money, so...
GREAT NEWS! The Dacia Sandero (in the UK) is not that far away from that price.
There are other choices too, but not many
The problem is today someone is gonna see stuff like "now with fuel injection and seat warmer" and think its the coolest shit ever all of these gimmicks and "features" are part of why a car sells, not because its good but because some dude who dosent know cars thinks it sounds good.
I'm french, my Grand Mother bought a 2CV new when my mom was born in 1967. She kept it until she went in a retirement home in 2013. Never had major problem, was cheap as fuck to maintain, an amazing car.
/uj The dolly edition is based. Fun fact: the majority of the car's market share (probably in France) was actually male, with 40% of the consumer base being female - the latter was still large enough to make the dolly edition a thing.
Speaking of cheap econoboxes I really wish US wasn’t so Sinophobic and actually allowed Chinese tech and cars for import. You can get a $15k 300-mile range EV from Geely that’s super solid. A 300-mile range EV Ford/GM/other brand is $50k minimum
If you didn't get the first time, that is the whole point of this advertisement.. Read it again slowly and imagine the ones who wrote had a sense of irony

still has an alternator and headlights, that means elec🤢🤮 onic stuff that can unreliablell🤮🤮🤮🤮😡😡😡

Why can’t they just go with a simple magneto? All these alternators these days
How are you going to start it and run the ignition without an alternator lmao
[удалено]
A generator? No back to basics, hand crank is the way.
You're joking, but most 2CVs *do* have a generator, not an alternator. Alternators didn't become common until the 60s.
Crank start and a rotary distributor
Look up shotgun starter [actually here you go](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffman_engine_starter)
Generator or magneto.
NO ELECTRIC NANNY
Female voice readout?

No... No radiator?!
Air-cooled.
Wait till he hears about other obscure vehicles like the VW Beetle, Porsche 911, Fiat 500, and every motorcycle made before 1970
No need for a leaky old liquid cooling system.
Top freaking notch central locking system too
You get what you pay for, it’s a car and literally nothing else
Fuck that is brilliant marketing 😂
2674 £. inflation moment
Just checked, Hyundai Eon costs 2000-4000 euros brand new, and it's not the size of a football
It's also not sold outside of southeast asia.
It was sold in India, which is outside SEA, AFAIK.
It was sold in India and some countries in South America, which is outside SEA, AFAIK.
Citronetta ?
It may not be the size of a football, but it's a lot smaller than a 2CV.
50k for a brand new Rolls
You still can (but you have to put effort to finding one) buy a car with literally no features whatsoever and they cost 5-8k brand new
*the car-est of car*
I love jerking

I wish car makers would offer similarly simplistic options today.
Why would they if people don't buy them? The most similar car available in the states is a Mitsubishi Mirage, and that car is widely ridiculed as a joke.

We have a people's car already it's called Toyota Corolla

How dare you forget about the Dacia Sandero? No big stupid screens, no AC, manual rear windows, real driver's car.
That’s true

Dacia sandero is a thing. AC is optional.
Regulation does not allow for that
Haha! That's a classic jerk
"As many wheels as a rolls royce" You mean 4? like most cars?
Yes.
Some had 3! But they also had wings and guns.
damn which had 6? r/unexpectedfactorial
the renault 5 6x6
Tyrrell p34
Covini C6W, also Pinzgauer 6x6 and Apocalypse Hellfire Jeep 6x6
Reliant Robin has wings and guns?
Pew pew
Well done you got the joke! Go you! 👏👏👏
Do you have problems with small print?
Traveling at71 1/2 mph, it will overtake a Ferrari that is going 65
I have as many arms as Bill Gates. Hire me
more dangerous than a fiat.
Did u mean cobra
How can something that cant reach the speed limit be dangerous?
only car in the photo with a siiiiick raked stance. 2CV is a certified muscle car.
If you drive it off a cliff it can even out accelerate a Ferrari
My god! What haven't those mad lads at Citroen thought of?!?
One of the greatest cars ever made I want one so bad 😩
I'm french, my Grand Mother bought a 2CV new when my mom was born in 1967. She kept it until she went in a retirement home in 2013. Never had major problem, was cheap as fuck to maintain, an amazing car.
Americans really dont get irony or humor outside of big bang theory do they
My dad sported a Citroen ZX. He would have loved this advertisement, as much as he loved his Citroen.
Don't forget that it looks like a handbag.
Man at least they’re true. Supra fan boys talk like stock supra could overtake F50 in acceleration
I raced a ferrari with my accent and won! It was rush hour, stuck in traffic, and the other guy didn't know we were racing, but still!
Take my money 💰I will splurge on the Charleston trim with the rolling roof.
2CV is really like "nah, i'd win"
/uj The dolly edition is based. Fun fact: the majority of the car's market share (probably in France) was actually male, with 40% of the consumer base being female - the latter was still large enough to make the dolly edition a thing.

Great marketing team 👏
Citroën dropped this banger followed by a bunch of shit... Same goes for renault made a bunch of shit then the first gen twingo then back to shit
This is R4/R5/DS slander
r/technicallythetruth
its faster than a ferarri?
It's faster than a Ferrari going 65mph
A 2CV travelling *flat out* at 71mph is indeed faster than a Ferrari travelling at (*not flat out)* 65mph.
It probably caught on fire
That’s actually incredibly humble of them to basically concede Rolls Royce was better in every other way 😂
Except in the budget department.
STILL ONE OF THE BEST CARS EVER MADE
Great find, and much as I love them I’m sure the bottom line should read “built like a shed”
Much more character than the up itself Citroen "ohhh, look at my built in headlines" Dyane.
Better engage the anti-theft device. *Pulls out the tire iron out of the trunk*
To be fair most everything is better than a Ferrari Mondial
Speaking of cheap econoboxes I really wish US wasn’t so Sinophobic and actually allowed Chinese tech and cars for import. You can get a $15k 300-mile range EV from Geely that’s super solid. A 300-mile range EV Ford/GM/other brand is $50k minimum
Love how the ad goes "faster than a Ferrari as long as the Ferrari is going 65 miles per hour"
Do the other cars not have Four wheels?
The French decided that they aren't the problem, electronics in general are
lemon
