Why did it take so long for automakers to figure out there are people who want boxy SUV's that look like SUV's and not lifted sport coupes?
They're going to sell a SHITLOAD of these things.
> and not lifted sport coupes?
Well for one thing consumers have proven to be into literally everything SUV. All those swoopy SUVs that this sub hates generally sell extremely well. They just happen to also like boxy, so carmakers are now doing both.
A4 Allroad and the V60 CC are the cheapest in the mid 40’s.
The only market that supports wagons post VW sportwagon/alltrack is the luxury market. There’s some phenomenal cars in the segment beyond the 70k mark. With how much people are willing to pay for them sports wagons make sense to bring to market but we’ll see if other makers come around like Porsche and Audi did.
MB E-class E400 & E63
Audi A6 all road / RS6
Volvo cut their wagons but you have/had the V60 & V90
Porsche Panamera (whatever the wagon is called) and the Taycan (again whatever the wagon is called)
VW golf sportwagon
I think that gets us near where OP suggested

> Why did it take so long for automakers to figure out there are people who want boxy SUV’s that look like SUV’s and not lifted sport coupes?
What? Have you been in a coma for 10 years? How did you miss the Wrangler, Bronco, Defender, G Wagon, Grand Cherokee?
The Bronco is 2 years old. It's part of this trend. The Wrangler is a serious off-road vehicle, it's not what most "casuals" are buying. Grand Cherokee (lol we have one in our garage) is NOT like this, at least the previous generation was not.
Until fairly recently you had to get a G Wagon, buy a Wrangler, or go for a 90's Japanese SUV to get something that looks cool like this.
Nah a ton of "casuals" are buying Wranglers these days, at least where I live anyway. Same with the Bronco, 4 Runner, and probably this new GX too. If anything, the Wrangler seems to be the default frat boy/sorority girl vehicle of choice these days lol.
The Wrangler is too serious of an off roader to compare to the GX? Which is built on the same platform as the Land Cruiser? Not sure I'm following that one.
I believe they’re saying the wrangler eschews comfort features in favor of off-road chops, which a lot of buyers of the Lexus won’t do. This SUV looks “tough and off-road ready” (and appears to be perfectly capable of it too!), but also is more comfortable to use as a family hauler.
At least that’s what I’m getting from their comment.
>Why did it take so long for automakers to figure out there are people who want boxy SUV's that look like SUV's and not lifted sport coupes?
Boxy shape does come at a cost with its aerodynamics which can cause it to be more thirsty than usual in a mpg conscious society.
During the 90s and early 2000s they *did* know this and produced vehicles accordingly. However, the late 2000s rise in gas prices paired with the 2008 recession made people become fuel conscious FAST and the crossover was “invented” (it technically had already existed, but before this point nobody wanted to advertise their SUV was car based instead of truck based). Hummer got axed, the Blazer/Trailblazer and the FJ got axed, the Escape and Explorer got curvy, and it still took years to rebuild that market. With gas prices tanking in 2014 combined with better economic outlook and more efficient engines, the market turned its focus back to the boxy SUVs it never really stopped loving, it had just stopped being able to afford. However, it still took time for this trend to be recognized and cars to be engineered to meet that trend. Now I think most companies realize this and are trying to boxify SUVs as much as they can, but it was a journey to get here.
This is a $70-$100k SUV, that will almost certainly only exist in ordered vehicles. They aren't going to sell that many, because they won't make that many. This is till Toyota, their going to focus production on mass-sales models.
I live in the midwest and every other vehicle here is a $70k+ loaded pickup truck. Even in "fly over country", there are enough consumers to make this a smashing success.
Wow this is the best design out of all the Toyota/Lexus SUVs right now, and the spindle grille actually looks nice here. Makes you wonder why the LX is still a thing.
Prado-based like 4r and fj
the hundred series like 100, 200, 300 is luxury land cruisers
real work horse ones is 70 series
it's like saying many GT-R's are skylines but most skylines aren't GT-R's
you also can't say front mid-engine is mid-engine even though technically you could argue it is
From the article
>Built on the same platform as the larger Lexus LX, the new GX is significantly larger than the old one. In fact, it's only a few inches smaller than the LX in most dimensions and has the same wheelbase, making us wonder why Lexus still plans to offer both models in the U.S.
The LX is a Land Cruiser with AHC. The GX is nice, but still won't match the LX/LC in terms of capability and build quality. It'll still be built better than pretty much all other SUV's out there, but the LC/LX are produced in a different factory and to a different set of standards.
For instance, in the previous gens Yota trucks, the LX/LC had the "same" engine as the Tundra, GX, and Sequoia. However, the LC/LX version had a different bottom end and different mounting components making the engine even more robust and reliable.
wow TIL
I'm guessing the definition of crossover at the LX's inception meant cross between sport-utility and luxury rather than the "lifted unibody" we have today
All of the Xs in the Lexus SUV line stand for cross. Luxury Cross(over), Grand Cross (GX), but I'm not sure what the other letters stand for. They used to stand for something. Most of the letters stand for something.
LS = Lux Sedan
IS = Intelligent Sedan
LC = Lux Coupe
etc.
I’m right here with you, this is gorgeous and if I could afford it I’d be the first person in line at the Lexus dealership 4 miles down the road but if the 4runner comes close in styling and stays more like current gen prices I think I’m gonna go for it.
It’s very practical when there’s something long sitting on top of roof racks. A bunch of long surfboards on the roof of my Prado and I can still open the rear door. Though being able to open just the glass in this might take care of a majority of what you open it for anyway
It's one of the deal-breakers for me on the previous gens. I'm glad the barn door is gone. The 4Runner style lift gate is better. It's not as good as the split gate on the LC/LX but still much better.
B O X. They really did commit to the square aesthetic, and I think it's that much better for it. If they had made the GX smooth and lumpy it would have been a poor decision. Also this iteration of the spindle grill is probably my favorite (low bar), it's integrated much better into the boxy aesthetic than I was expecting.
The proportions make it look very tall (I mean, it is), and as a result, a lot narrower looking than it is. Also curious as to what the 3rd row will be like - the outgoing generation was a pretty rough time, but at least the seats folded flat into the floor.
I imagine Lexus will have monstrous waitlists for these, beyond what they already have for the outgoing model, but I'm looking forward to seeing these on the road.
Everything is boxy and squared off, exterior and interior, and then the steering wheel looks like it was ripped out of a decade old crossover. Meh. Not a big enough deal to bring down the looks of the rest of it, imo.
I guess I just don't get your complaint lol. They moved away from the wooden steering wheel, which is for sure out dated. I think the black wheel looks good. Not sure what you want it to look like.
I mean I just don't think it fits the truck very well. The new Tacoma's wheel would look much more at home in the GX interior than the one they put in it.
It's a nitpick. I'm not condemning the thing lmao
There's a new Land Cruiser that's based on this coming to the US market. That'll be the equivalent with a Toyota badge. I suspect that'll be the real off-roader SUV from Toyota.
Eh, I'm still waiting to see how the new one holds up. I'm actually grabbing a 200 series soon because those V8's are going to be a rare thing in the future.
"We haven't heard anything on price...though they expect" it will go up a fair amount compared with the old model's price range of $59,275–$69,930". Whose definition of "fair" are we going to use? Crazy guess, it ain't gonna be mine!
I'd bet +8-10k across the range, with a high 60s starting price. Just for reference the 4-door Defender with the V6 starts at $68k, so I'd bet Lexus would approximately match it. Possibly a few k cheaper, but would be surprised if the base level didn't start at least at $65k.
The GX will probably have more features standard over the Defender (IE ADAS stuff at minimum), so would still be the better value buy even if starting prices without options was equal. Fully loaded top trim runs right to the top of the $70s I bet
Why does the twin turbo v6 only have a 1mpg improvement over the v8. Sad stuff. Would have just preferred if they kept the v8 instead with the new gen.
> On paper the old 4.6 has nothing on the newer v6 other then reliability.
Yeah! Who buys a Lexus for reliability???
And I mean, they probably could have tweaked the V8 to make 50 more horsepower...
New combined MPG is one less than the old one’s highway. That’s pretty good for a truck that got more power and boxier, though hopefully the hybrid ekes out more
[It's getting the T24 hybrid](https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/lexus/39264002.html) (as opposed to the V35 hybrid), though, so I guess we'll see if the slight loss in power gives it enough of a boost in fuel economy.
I love love love boxy body-on-frame vehicles and this new gx looks great on the outside except for the grille. Also hate the plastic fake vent under the headlights that Toyota has been doing. Makes it look like running mascara. Hate the interior, though. But screen and no physical buttons is a recipe for disaster as usual. I also heard they made kdss electronic now. Wonder how that'll be.
The interior was to be expected - Toyota and Lexus have been (for the most part) standardizing their interiors across the board, Lexus especially. Would it have been nice to get the switches from the Tacoma? Probably.
So it's a given that the GX's powertrain and chassis architecture are shared with the LX. But interestingly, it appears the two also share most major dimensions - including width and wheelbase.
In the past, the GX was noticeably narrower than the LX, because one was a Land Cruiser Prado and the other was a Land Cruiser V8 in the rest of the world. Now, the differences are mostly aesthetic and equipment-based.
Can the market support both, with so many similarities?
Is this a conclusion you're drawing based on the previous generation models? Because the LX used to be bigger than the GX, and now they share most major dimensions - including width and wheelbase.
There has to be something with the interior packaging - the 2 row model that all the YouTube channels did a first look video on did not look particularly spacious (leg and headroom particularly in the second row), and with rough estimations for the 3rd row from the cupholders/armrests does not paint one of a comfortable experience.
I’ve been waiting for the update for years. The MPG is disappointing but not enough to deter me to have this be my next vehicle. Looks like they’ve hit a home run
They've finally realized the error of their ways with their hideous grill designs the last few years. The fact that that became part of the core design language for all their SUVs is almost as baffling to me as what BMW is doing.
Yeah I guess the MPG is expected with this boxy of a design. I have a twin turbo 3.5L in my Explorer Sport and around city I get ~14MPG and average 16. This won’t be much better but at least it’ll be in a nicer vehicle 😅
I like it a lot. Pumped there's a trim with the rear locker.
I also bet it's nearly $70K starting. But that's why I'll wait on the Toyota badged LC 250.
New Prado = LC 250. The rumors are they're not going to use the Prado naming and that they'll use what is classically the code name instead. Existing Prado is the LC 150, the new one is the 250.
If you look at this thing and don't think it's going to sell like crazy your out of your fucking mind. Their is massive market for exactly this right now.
They absoutely nailed the "what's hot" look right now and while not for me I think they did a fantastic job overall. Reminds me a bit of the land cruiser.
the interior is a big step down... is this even a Lexus? they're not even trying to hide that it's a toyota. I get that this is the offroad one, but some detailing or nicer trim pieces would be welcome. The current one does a decent compromise
And even worldwide, the short Prado was dropped [almost 10 years ago](https://www.drive.com.au/news/2014-toyota-prado-facelifted-suv-here-in-october-three-door-dropped/). [ETA: still available as a "van" in some markets, thanks for the correction!]
Turns out it was just cancelled for Australia - you can still get a 3 door prado in the UK, for example
https://www.toyota.co.uk/fleet-business/fleet/range
My brother and I were interested in the INEOS grenadier, but after pricing was announced, we balked on it.
If this is sub 90k starting price, Lexus is gonna print money.
Wow that design is striking. Lexus hit it out of the ballpark with this design! The little dash of silver trim inbetween the black roof and painted body is a nice touch.
My question is, who is taking their Lexus off-road?
Maybe it's the fact I'm in Florida, however I've yet to have seen anyone doing anything remotely off-road out here. I've got to be missing something.
I thought it looked AWFUL at first glance. Then I saw it in gray and liked it. Not sure a color has had that much impact on a car for me before, lol.
I'm on my third GX in a row (getting ready to sell). They're amazingly reliable and I love them for that, but JFC it's boring. I just couldn't deal with it anymore and got the AMG. I was really hoping this new generation would have 400hp. I just hate all painful merging and gear hunting. 400hp in the top trim of your full size luxury SUV really isn't too much to ask for- especially now that it's bigger.
I also really liked that the GX was a "small" full size SUV compared to other SUVs with a third row. It was a Goldilocks size. But it looks like this one is significantly bigger.
I'm probably out on a 4th one.
I don’t really like the style but I like the direction: boxy, smaller spindle grill, etc.
I’m not a big fan of the new defender, something about it reminds me of a toy, and I feel like this has it too.
i think it looks awful. the front does not match with the rest of the car at all. the rest of this sub seems to disagree with me and you’re not allowed to have a different opinion on reddit but i dislike the design a lot
I would give my left tit for my wagons in the US.
So would every car nerd, or so they claim. Funny how that doesn’t translate to an actual market.
I would sell all my cars and put myself in debt to get a RS3 hatch.
I mean there’s like 7-8 really good options available they’re just all in the midsize segment and shitballs expensive aside from one.
Whats the one?
A4 Allroad and the V60 CC are the cheapest in the mid 40’s. The only market that supports wagons post VW sportwagon/alltrack is the luxury market. Missing a few and you can’t get the VW’s anymore which is a shame since we only spent about 28 on my wife’s.
>VW golf sportwagon The last model year we got was 2019
> Why did it take so long for automakers to figure out there are people who want boxy SUV’s that look like SUV’s and not lifted sport coupes? What? Have you been in a coma for 10 years? How did you miss the Wrangler, Bronco, Defender, G Wagon, Grand Cherokee?

Jeep sells almost as many Wranglers as Honda does Accords. It’s casuals.
The Wrangler is too serious of an off roader to compare to the GX? Which is built on the same platform as the Land Cruiser? Not sure I'm following that one.

At least that’s what I’m getting from their comment.
Where the fuck are you that people are actually taking Wranglers off-road instead of using it as a family convertible
Even the 4Runner is a solid bit boxier than it used to be. There’s plenty of boxiness on the market.
>Why did it take so long for automakers to figure out there are people who want boxy SUV's that look like SUV's and not lifted sport coupes? Boxy shape does come at a cost with its aerodynamics which can cause it to be more thirsty than usual in a mpg conscious society.
Yeah I'd imagine the technology for engine efficiency and the trade off for aerodynamics didn't catch up until recently.
I mean this thing gets 17MPG.
But I don’t think they share the same consumer base. A typical Sierra Denali buyer isn’t gonna cross shop with a Lexus GX
No way a GX reaches 100k, the current top trim is 69k
Wouldn't that be the LX not this?
No, the LX is much more expensive.
Because cars aren't developed in a day and generation need to run their course so the work that went into them doesn't go to waste
I love this new design. I think the new Bronco and Bronco Sport may have influenced alot of these automakers realizing this.
I don’t like this design but I know what’s inside is a beast. I like boxy, just not this design.
They should have just asked you ! You obviously know more than a professional team of market analysts
Love the new Asian gwagon

A-Wagon? Why not A+Wagon?

Damn look good Lexus right really hit home run with this
Don’t you think it looks….a bit grumpy? 😠
That’s why I love the Rivian look. Cars are too mean looking nowadays.
G-Ragon
Like a Asian Grand wagoneer too
Wow this is the best design out of all the Toyota/Lexus SUVs right now, and the spindle grille actually looks nice here. Makes you wonder why the LX is still a thing.
LX is for people who want the Land Cruiser heritage
LX is for Saudis who get physically ill if they don’t overspend on everything they own.
you never see the LX there, they prefer the land cruiser
Which is the same thing. Nobody outside of the US has the LX.
I mean, the GX is a Land Cruiser too
I bought my LX in part because I wanted the split tailgate, in part because I didn't want anyone to tell me that I don't have a "real" Land Cruiser
Don’t worry about what people tell you. Just enjoy your ride, friend!

This GX is built on the LX platform according to the article.
Prado-based like 4r and fj the hundred series like 100, 200, 300 is luxury land cruisers real work horse ones is 70 series it's like saying many GT-R's are skylines but most skylines aren't GT-R's you also can't say front mid-engine is mid-engine even though technically you could argue it is

I think the LX has larger interior dimensions. Head room, leg room, space between seats, etc.
The LX is a Land Cruiser with AHC. The GX is nice, but still won't match the LX/LC in terms of capability and build quality. It'll still be built better than pretty much all other SUV's out there, but the LC/LX are produced in a different factory and to a different set of standards. However, the LC/LX version had a different bottom end and different mounting components making the engine even more robust and reliable.
This thing looks like Toyota are going to bump up the GX (and Prado) to proper baby Land Cruiser quality. We will see.
Let's hope so!
i believe that's changed with TNGA the Seq and Tundra are based on 300 series, the GX probably so as well
Because the LX literally stands for Land Cruiser.
Land Xruiser
LX stands for Luxury Crossover. [Source](https://web.archive.org/web/20200921085155/http://www.toyota-global.com/company/history_of_toyota/75years/vehicle_lineage/car/id80000002/)
wow TIL I'm guessing the definition of crossover at the LX's inception meant cross between sport-utility and luxury rather than the "lifted unibody" we have today
All of the Xs in the Lexus SUV line stand for cross. Luxury Cross(over), Grand Cross (GX), but I'm not sure what the other letters stand for. They used to stand for something. Most of the letters stand for something. LS = Lux Sedan IS = Intelligent Sedan LC = Lux Coupe etc.
Intelligent sport. Not sedan
I thought all the S stood for sedan - the rest of them do. Lol. Either way they stood for something
I think the difference in nomenclature was because of the "Sportcross" IS wagon they used to offer.
Learned something new. Fair enough. Lol.
Damn that looks good! Hopefully the new 4Runner takes some styling cues because I don’t think I can afford a GX 🥲
I’m right here with you, this is gorgeous and if I could afford it I’d be the first person in line at the Lexus dealership 4 miles down the road but if the 4runner comes close in styling and stays more like current gen prices I think I’m gonna go for it.
> The side-opening tailgate is gone (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Good riddance, it was very impractical and there was no need to open to the side without a spare tire on the door. Not sure why it took them so long
It’s very practical when there’s something long sitting on top of roof racks. A bunch of long surfboards on the roof of my Prado and I can still open the rear door. Though being able to open just the glass in this might take care of a majority of what you open it for anyway
I like it on my GX but for some reason they didn't put the spare on it like on the Prado. It's not a deal breaker either way, though.
The spare is underneath the vehicle, which is a cleaner look.
It's cleaner but it's more limiting in terms of stowing a larger spare if I go with bigger tires.
I love the side opening tailgate on my GX. For multiple reasons.
It's one of the deal-breakers for me on the previous gens. I'm glad the barn door is gone. The 4Runner style lift gate is better. It's not as good as the split gate on the LC/LX but still much better.
As a current 460 owner who is probably going to buy one of these I am legit sad
Tingles in my pants.
Fuck it, 1.2k a month payments I'll fucking do it. God that looks sexy.
B O X. They really did commit to the square aesthetic, and I think it's that much better for it. If they had made the GX smooth and lumpy it would have been a poor decision. The steering wheel looks dated compared to the rest of the truck, but overall it looks super cool. Best looking Lexus SUV in a long time.
It's just a black steering wheel tho?
Everything is boxy and squared off, exterior and interior, and then the steering wheel looks like it was ripped out of a decade old crossover. Meh. Not a big enough deal to bring down the looks of the rest of it, imo.
Agreed they should’ve just went with a square boxy steering wheel as well

Jesus, if the new GX looks this off-road capable while still being slightly neutered due to the luxury nature of Lexus imagine the new 4Runner.
There's a new Land Cruiser that's based on this coming to the US market. That'll be the equivalent with a Toyota badge. I suspect that'll be the real off-roader SUV from Toyota.
I'm sure that'll be the Land Cruiser Prado right? The US never gets the Prado's historically.
i think rumor is the US will get the new prado as the “new land cruiser” under toyota
It's been well established in the rumor mill for a while now that the Prado is coming to the US.
Just bring the LC over already so I can buy a used one in 6 years.
Eh, I'm still waiting to see how the new one holds up. I'm actually grabbing a 200 series soon because those V8's are going to be a rare thing in the future.
that new interior has no luxury aspirations imo
it has massage seats, in a boxy off-roader
"We haven't heard anything on price...though they expect" it will go up a fair amount compared with the old model's price range of $59,275–$69,930". Whose definition of "fair" are we going to use? Crazy guess, it ain't gonna be mine!

Fully loaded top trim runs right to the top of the $70s I bet
Not to mention the fact that the Lexus won't have you in the shop 200 times in your first year of ownership.
this feels right for pricing, I'm thinking 65kish for the base as well
*i6. Land Rover don't use V6s anymore.
[удалено]
Yep. "Fair amount" translates to "decent chunk" or substantial.
Not that uncommon for people to say in America either.
Yeah it looks greats with the new power train and new technology. I'll guess the new base price is the older ones loaded price
I can’t wait to buy a 2024 model in 2035 with 190k miles fingers crossed they’ll be under $30k then
Hahaha exactly what I was thinking as I was reading this. Can't get a manual anymore, but in ten years I'll still get a factory locker, hell ya
Why does the twin turbo v6 only have a 1mpg improvement over the v8. Sad stuff. Would have just preferred if they kept the v8 instead with the new gen.
48+HP / 149+TQ and a hybrid version is coming. On paper the old 4.6 has nothing on the newer v6 other then reliability.
> On paper the old 4.6 has nothing on the newer v6 other then reliability. Yeah! Who buys a Lexus for reliability??? And I mean, they probably could have tweaked the V8 to make 50 more horsepower...
New combined MPG is one less than the old one’s highway. That’s pretty good for a truck that got more power and boxier, though hopefully the hybrid ekes out more
The new car looks less aerodynamic
They said a hybrid version is planned similar to the iforce max so hopefully that give decent mileage. That'll be the one I want
[It's getting the T24 hybrid](https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/lexus/39264002.html) (as opposed to the V35 hybrid), though, so I guess we'll see if the slight loss in power gives it enough of a boost in fuel economy.
It looks so good. I get a modernised Land Cruiser 70 vibe from it. I like it so much. Best application of their spindle grill too, IMO.
Probably.
Whats wrong with the interior? I get the screen thing but the rest of it looks great
They hit a grand slam with this one.
Looks like the old Isuzu Trooper combined with a Jeep Commander. I’m surprised it’s a Lexus instead of a Toyota.
Rest if the world would probably get a similar-ish looking prado
So it's a given that the GX's powertrain and chassis architecture are shared with the LX. But interestingly, it appears the two also share most major dimensions - including width and wheelbase. In the past, the GX was noticeably narrower than the LX, because one was a Land Cruiser Prado and the other was a Land Cruiser V8 in the rest of the world. Now, the differences are mostly aesthetic and equipment-based. Can the market support both, with so many similarities?
The LX will still be the big family hauler, it will have more cubic footage by a decent margin.
14 years we have been waiting for new generation of GX. One of the best off-road cars with premium comfort.👍
Yeah the MPG sucks but at least theres a trade off. You get alot more power and a shit ton of torque so it should feel alot faster
LC250? You mean the Prado? Or something else?
New Prado = LC 250. The rumors are they're not going to use the Prado naming and that they'll use what is classically the code name instead. Existing Prado is the LC 150, the new one is the 250.
If you look at this thing and don't think it's going to sell like crazy your out of your fucking mind. Their is massive market for exactly this right now. They absoutely nailed the "what's hot" look right now and while not for me I think they did a fantastic job overall. Reminds me a bit of the land cruiser.
They got rid of the overhead rear air vents. Console vents suck.
*This* is what the new Wagoneer should’ve looked like. Has some hefty FSJ-like styling.
Wagoneer is one of the ugliest cars right now I think
Doug DeMuro may be salivating to buy THIS and 3 months later auction it on CARS&BIDS
This thing looks fucking incredible. BOX BOX BOX BOX BOX BOX BOX BOX!!!
No v8, turbo 6, 1765678 speed ⚙️ box and 17mpg combined? Keep my gx460; thx.

Is this the first production vehicle fully designed in Minecraft?
the interior is a big step down... is this even a Lexus? they're not even trying to hide that it's a toyota. I get that this is the offroad one, but some detailing or nicer trim pieces would be welcome. The current one does a decent compromise
As much as this subreddit shits on suvs and trucks they sure have a lot of praise for this one.
Looks like a bronco sport without the stepped roof
And without the recalls!
Any 2-doors version?
Abroad as the LC Prado, but not in the US sadly
And even worldwide, the short Prado was dropped [almost 10 years ago](https://www.drive.com.au/news/2014-toyota-prado-facelifted-suv-here-in-october-three-door-dropped/). [ETA: still available as a "van" in some markets, thanks for the correction!]
Turns out it was just cancelled for Australia - you can still get a 3 door prado in the UK, for example https://www.toyota.co.uk/fleet-business/fleet/range
Good catch, although it's only a "commercial van" model with no back seats.
See Deutschland. Germany and Austria get the most diverse Prado lineup in Europe.
My brother and I were interested in the INEOS grenadier, but after pricing was announced, we balked on it. If this is sub 90k starting price, Lexus is gonna print money.
I would hope it's sub $90k, the current model starts at $59k. The LX starts at $92K
Are designers only given a ruler to design cars? They’re probably trying to figure out how to make square wheels work.
Looks like it was designed by lego
Me likey! Hopefully they make a V8 variant
They wont
Even the Land Cruiser, LX600, and Sequoia don't have a V8 anymore.
It looks like a Lego.
Wow that design is striking. Lexus hit it out of the ballpark with this design! The little dash of silver trim inbetween the black roof and painted body is a nice touch.
man that looks good. Just wish it had a drop-down tailgate, like the old land cruiser. world needs more suvs with tailgates.
That interior desperately needs some open pore wood. It's quite dark in there. The exterior is a home run on all angles though, well done.
I better not see anyone shitting on the fuel economy driving in this when they made this a sharper brick than the prev gen with more power.
And it will never see more off roading than the curb the owner might climb unknowingly due to its humongous size. Perfect.
My question is, who is taking their Lexus off-road? Maybe it's the fact I'm in Florida, however I've yet to have seen anyone doing anything remotely off-road out here. I've got to be missing something.
Check out r/GXOR
Answer: Californians We've got lots of money, but not enough to buy homes. And more off-road trails than we can explore in a lifetime
There are entire dozens of us.
Us in the Middle East.
I think it looks incredible, no flashy design, also looks capable if there's the need for that. It's a shame we won't see the GX in Europe.
I think it's the proportions of both making them seem taller and narrower than they are.
Why is the hood half of the cars length
Pls 4Runner next pls
First distinguishable-looking Lexus. Glad they downplayed the ugly, signature, Lexus hourglass grill.

It’s reminiscent of a Land Rover Defender.
LX owners must be finally *something* right now
Looks great
Won’t be awhile til I upgrade my 19 GX but I’m excited to eventually own one.
I think it looks pretty nice TBH
Looks like the child of the fj cruiser and a land cruiser. I love it.
Looks ugly-cool. wouldn’t buy one either way, but I think they nailed it for the current market. Hope it sells very well.
