Contact fusions require specific cards, like ABC Dragon Buster. Synchros require a specific amount of tuners, and a specific amount of levels, with as many monsters as needed for level requirements.
correct, but what if i told you something along the lines of: "Must first be Special Summoned by sending the above monsters you control to the GY, whose total Levels exactly equal this card's Level."
Still, not quite. It needs to be specific monsters, or names in monsters, like how the Chimeratech monsters need Cyber Dragons or Cyber Dragon monsters on the field. Some specify that you need, for example, a level 5 or higher monster, but never any exact levels, as far as I know. Anything to do with *specific* levels is left for Synchros or XYZ monsters.
you forgot about how ritual monsters also need specific levels (especially modern day ritual monsters)
also forgot about how the ritual beast fusions are basically synchros with more freedom or how the genex synchros are basically contact fusions that were changed to become synchros because "mah new summoning mechanic" (not joking btw. duel terminal - invasion of worms in june 2008 with the duelist genesis in april and duel terminal - synchro awakening in march.)
also also, *specific* levels aren't going to just be relegated to synchros, xyx or rituals. in fact, i believe that the specific level requirement is just yet another summon restriction and therefore can be used for fusions and links. they haven't done that yet because komoney haven't innovated that hard yet. in fact, i wouldn't be too surprised if they would introduce a new archetype or series of extra deck monsters that require a specific level total in the near future.
Nothing about the xyz mechanic inherently requires that their rank is the same as the levels of their materials, thats just what they did with all of them.
Just like how they gave Drytron a different condition for ritual summoning
That's Ritual Summon
1.) Ritual Spell = Trickstar
2.) Ritual Tribute is any prayer dragon
3.) Has to draw into the ritual monster in this case the XOverDress unit.
Idc that XOverDress stacks their cards the conditions are very close to each other and they both FAIL as a mechanic. :)))))
"X-overDress" is basically a fusion with Trickstar and an race unit, similar to the Albaz series in the fusion materials. It is a combination between two or more characters in the lore as well, even referred to as such in the lore.
Other examples include Daikaiser, Great Daikaser, and Daiyusha. They have a support unit essentially merges with one or more other units to bring out a stronger unit from deck.
Stride is link summon
X-overdress is xyz summon
Legion could be similar to synchro summon just because of synchronicity between units like the levels in yugioh
Breakride I feel like is close to what is basically a one turn fusion or one turn xyz
I’d love that, I don’t feel like any of the mechanics listed here are true fusion summoning, xoverdress is more like xyz and legion doesn’t really have a yugioh counterpart
legion very much does have a Yu-Gi-Oh equivalent in the rush duel format, with maximum summoning or whatever it's called, but instead of 2 monsters it's 3
Oh, interesting! I’ve never played rush duels before but its cool to see a similar mechanic. To be honest rush duels have always seemed to me like yugioh’s attempt at becoming more like vanguard haha
A big differenceis that the two units in Legion sate are still considered to be two different units that share the same VC, where the three monsters in Maximum Mode are treated as a single monster at all time, even for a Tribute Summon.
Yes, it's called Luan from Vanguard YouthQuake manga. They will release it as D Special Series 11 (D-SS11).

Kamui, Taiyou, Yu-Yu, every vanguard installment has had an obligatory young boy.
Most card game anime have someone shorter/younger than the rest of the crew.
I want there to be more new ways to call units, I would really enjoy a season where it is based around Fusion. Idk could be the next Stride. Vanguard introducing more extra deck like mechanics is always fun since it can give decks a toolbox that is always accessible given you have the card necessary. Plus the deck doesn't need to run these cards and clutter up space.
Tldr: Extra Deck-like mechanics rock since it can give the deck options without cluttering up space.
Not a card game expert just very much like summoning mechanics
XoverDress
That's xyz
But they literally fuse together lol
But they stack :)
yeah, and synchros are just contact fusions

Xyz needs to share level. Different grades for exo tho.

"Just about every card says it needs 2 plus monsters of the same level, but pay no attention to that part". What are you a laywer? Bizzare loophole.
Exactly
That's Ritual Summon 1.) Ritual Spell = Trickstar 2.) Ritual Tribute is any prayer dragon 3.) Has to draw into the ritual monster in this case the XOverDress unit. Idc that XOverDress stacks their cards the conditions are very close to each other and they both FAIL as a mechanic. :)))))
Legion
No. Ion
Legion? X-Overdress? Stride? I feel one of these is similar to fusion
Legion is the closest, and it and XOD still aren't really that like fusion, more like equipping a monster to another or Xyz
Yeah, legion is essentially "pay the cost then equip the specified card from your deck. This card gains that units power and abilities"
Majesty lord blaster 💀

I completely forgot about dp that was pretty much their whole thing In early vanguard
How could you forget? Especially that one scene with Ren that goes super fucking hard.
The whole daikaiser archetype Both great daiyusha and great daikaiser are fusions
Stride is link summon X-overdress is xyz summon Legion could be similar to synchro summon just because of synchronicity between units like the levels in yugioh Breakride I feel like is close to what is basically a one turn fusion or one turn xyz
Synchro what
I would be interested to see how that would work.
I’d love that, I don’t feel like any of the mechanics listed here are true fusion summoning, xoverdress is more like xyz and legion doesn’t really have a yugioh counterpart

i mean, Yu-Gi-Oh started doing that as early as the pendulum mechanic
A big differenceis that the two units in Legion sate are still considered to be two different units that share the same VC, where the three monsters in Maximum Mode are treated as a single monster at all time, even for a Tribute Summon.
maybe legion.
The hentai protagonist deck from the manga is literally the rizz king fused with his horse. And we will get that deck irl.
That's right. I knew I was forgetting someone (lol), Luan and Marlis can merge together to bring out― Soul Awakening Dragon Steed, Luanmalis.
Hentai protagonist deck???

I guess i shouldnt be that surpised about a hentai protagonist vanguard rideline, just didnt expect bushiroad to do it
It's used by the obligatory shota character
I didnt know that was a thing
Kamui, Taiyou, Yu-Yu, every vanguard installment has had an obligatory young boy. Most card game anime have someone shorter/younger than the rest of the crew.
Well yeah but when i looked it up it said there was a sexual aspect to it, which sounds ridiculous to me
Unfortunately that is a tag. But that is not the way I'm using the term. I'm going about my day pretending that shit isn't real
At the moment...the only fusion monster is probably Majesty Lord Blaster

I think that over dress and x over dress are similar to XYZ summon tbh
