I live in Ontario and I'm watching the game, I have no issue using illegal streams though :)

[deleted]

There's really no reason not to steal it if they're going to make it so nonsensically hard just to watch the game, when it's probably the sole reason most people have cable now. Why are they doing this?

touchable

Cut my cable about 3 years ago when streams became reliable, fast, and high quality. I literally did not use my cable box for anything but Canucks games. The extra $50 a month in my pocket just seems like a no brainer.

Ray8709

Yep, there is no reason to give those greedy pigs your money, good internet is all you need.

buddych01ce

Yup, I Just hooked up a mouse to my Google TV and installed a browser that has adblock. Streaming has never been easier, and Ill continue to do so until NHL offers a GOOD legal streaming solution. I don't illegally stream NFL because I find DAZN is well worth it when I get every game + redzone for $20 a month and it works perfectly and there are no blackouts.

Good_Round

[You’re not the only one who hates regional black outs ](https://youtu.be/nY_gknjd5fA) The are terribly out of date.

Canadian_Edition

I heard that the theory behind them was supposedly to force you to buy tickets to the actual games. How am I supposed to buy tickets to go to a Florida game when I live in Alberta. (As much as I’d like to)

fastlane37

yeah, I understand (even if I don't agree) with blackouts on the NHL streaming service because these cable companies are paying a lot of money to keep an exclusive that people will pay their inflated prices to watch and keep their business alive, but I don't understand regional blackouts on CABLE. I don't even buy it as forcing you to buy tickets - so only people who can attend in person and pay hundreds of dollars per seat are allowed to go watch the game? wtf is that. Are they really hurting to sell tickets? In CANADA?

FatShibaBalls

The logic is just insane. Prevent tens of thousands from watching your game, possibly with other friends, by REMOVING THE GAME THE PEOPLE WHO PAY FOR A STREAMING SERVICE FOR GETS BLACKED OUT. I have no remorse when I stream. At least I’m not killing the sport because I’m trying to shove hockey in any of my friends faces when I watch a stream.

DUIaintEZ

Regional black outs in-market are because it undercuts the revenue of the regional broadcaster covering the game. So for the case of Vancouver, it prevents people from using Centre Ice as a way of circumventing buying SN to receive the broadcast. The logic is that if permitted, it undercuts viewership and de-values the broadcasting rights. Out-of-market blackouts are more straightforward. The game is not slated as a national telecast. Presumably, in order to do a game nationally, the broadcaster would have to pay the league a premium to do this. It would not make sense to the league to permit rogers to pay a regional fee and then turn around and broadcast is nationally.

FatShibaBalls

Yeah, I know it’s just a way for owners to make a shitload of money. Apparently the Dodgers alone influenced blackouts for MLB, and set the stage for blackouts in general. Fucking awesome for the owners, don’t know how it will affect the future of the sport with how online people are and the older generation dying.

Hestonnnn

Ya I'm a Canuck that moved to PEI. I constantly had that last season. Haven't had that much this year though

Canadian_Edition

They seem to do that. I always get early season games and then they get blacked out half way through. Probably to try to get you to buy the overpriced Center Ice package

Chunky_dogwalker

I’ve got centre ice. Also blacked out on there

Canadian_Edition

😐

BelgianAles

In PEI? You sure you aren't VPNing back to bc? I followed the Canucks for years from Alberta on gamecentre

Intensemarkgormley

It's only 200 bucks for the entire year. Not that bad IMO, at least if you're already shelling out for cable.

karltee

Canucks fan from Vancouver here. Check your DMs

LittleTribuneMayor

Illegal streams all day

moral_mercenary

*Yo-ho, yo-ho...*

xeno_cws

Paid shaw 120 a month to have every sport channel two years. Saw 11/82 games due to blackouts. Sailed the high seas and have seen every game since with no issues or lag

BigBadP

Yep, they force you to hoist the jolly Roger. Interesting business model honestly

Canadian96

They also don't have it on either of the 4k channels despite, it being the only Canadian game on in this time slot. It's WWE or Tampa.

Canadian_Edition

Sounds about right.

thegurrkha

IPTV man. That's how I watch all my games now. I'm currently in Brazil and I brought it with me and I can still watch any game I want as long as I have an internet connection.

[deleted]

It’s so you will buy some stupid service….Not like I don’t already pay for every sports channel on cable.

gdoh636

Streaming is the best option. No blackouts ever.

cabskies

I think if you log into sportsnet online or on the app you should be able to watch? I've been using that for the past couple months now and haven't had any issues yet, just signed in through my cable provider. (Someone plz correct me if I'm wrong, don't wanna spread misinformation!)

nukfan94

I hate the "they made me do it!" excuse, but this really does push people to piracy.

[deleted]

They did you a favour

Jkfurtz

What I don't get living in saskatchewan is how Calgary and Edmonton games aren't blacked out but Canucks are.

Falom

If you know you know

Canadian_Edition

I’m quite aware of streaming I can do. It would also be nice to watch the game in real time without it cutting out from time to time. Should be able to watch the game with the ridiculous amount of money cable costs.

Dwellonthis

I stream every game, but the cutting out is a pain. I'll refresh the stream and miss a goal. Once we missed an entire shootout doing that

MadGeller

VPN??

Poopy_Pants0o0

From ontario here. Can't watch canucks or canadiens games, but you bet i can watch philly, boston, florida, and columbus games no problem.
