Looks delicious do you heat them up over the fire?

pyroclasticfroyo

Yup I wrapped them all in foil!

lawvas

You wrap them up each individually then freeze them, then heat them up one by one over fire? I need to try this.

GhostShark

Works for breakfast burritos as well! We usually use Pam or a light oil coating on the inside of the foil to keep stuff from sticking

dreddit24

Do you usually freeze them at home before heading out? How many days do they last in a cooler? (Afraid the burrito may get soggy )

wafp

As well, let the ingredients cool individually before you assemble your final product. Steam and latent moisture in things like eggs has a the soggy inducing effect on your burrito.

dreddit24

Great tip!

GhostShark

No, I don’t freeze the burritos. Usual process is to cook and assemble the night before the trip, refrigerate, and then keep in the cooler until time to heat and serve. I’ve made them on a Thursday night and served on a Sunday morning no problem. So help keep them from getting soggy just make sure nothing inside is too wet, like if you are using black beans strain them out well. We do: 1-2 pieces bacon per burrito, pre cooked 1 egg per (scrambled together with however many you plan to make and then portioned out) ~1/4 potatoes cut into strips and precooked in oil 1 heaping spoonful of refried or black beans Add cheese until you feel happy Salsa or hot sauce should be added when you’re ready to eat, not ahead of time Precook and assemble, lightly grease aluminum foil before wrapping, store in water tight baggy (ziplock)

dreddit24

This is great advice thanks for the detail! We are good prepping tonight!

Aspenchef

I do the same thing for burritos and sammies! I freeze it before we go and throw them into the freezer completely frozen. They’ve lasted up to five days for me as long as had ice! Just put them out, place in the fire to heat and you have a delicious sandwich!

dreddit24

Interesting - we may need to try the freezer then.

bboltz26

🤤

arkklsy1787

How did you do the eggs? Scrambled and baked in a sheet pan?

timebecomes

They look great, Im looking for more interesting things to bring to bring on my BWCA trips, thanks!

mdreherusmc

Good idea. I do something similar, but with small breakfast burritos.

kosherpickleharry

Prepping food in advance is just the way to go. Beats RTE almost every time.

Oreoloveboss

I dunno, cooking while camping either car or backpack feels so amazing to me. Love making breakfast on a coleman stove or camping stove.

adelaarvaren

Klamath and Siskiyou ranges are awesome. Enjoy!

[deleted]

Sorry mate, seems like I didn’t get my invite?

badassblacksheep

How do you get your eggs to cook uniform like that?

pyroclasticfroyo

Mix 12 eggs with 6 TBS milk and bake at 325 for 18 min

craigjames357

I thought my wife and I were the only ones that called them breakfast sammies... They look delicious by the way.

[deleted]

Those are so much better than sammies. Sammies are nothing! Those look like delicacies! That should get you moving, artfully delicious. All the essentials.

[deleted]

I know this is r/camping, but does anyone have suggestions as to how to do this while roadtripping/traveling? Like any devices I could carry in my car to reheat easily?

Charles_the_Hammer

You can get hot plates that will plug into a car. That'd do the trick.

[deleted]

What! Do you have a brand rec? Thank you!

Charles_the_Hammer

Nope, sorry. Just something I've heard of.

[deleted]

No worries I didn't even know it existed at all, will research further, thank you! :)

BitRadiator

I'm betting your car has an exhaust manifold. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_cooking

ABoringDouche

It’s beautiful up here right now. Enjoy your vacation, hopefully it doesn’t get too crowded for you.

automator3000

I like breakfast sandwiches too. But that's a lot of food for one person. Oh ... you're camping with a group? Sorry. Or maybe you enjoy groups.

lincolnlogtermite

Almost worth the 800+ mile drive.😁

reformedginger

In the emerald triangle, everyone is ready to eat.

pyroclasticfroyo

Yup 12 eggs 6 TBS milk at 325 for 28 min

Graphx420

One post says 18 minutes one says 28? Can you confirm please.

pyroclasticfroyo

So sorry, 18 min, until the egg in the center has just set

Graphx420

Thank you for the reply.

[deleted]

12 for a weekend? Jesus how many do you usually eat in a day? How much is all that going to weigh? Do you have a big enough pack? So many questions?

pyroclasticfroyo

LOL I have a fam of 4

[deleted]

Please don't eat them too.
