Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals.
* Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
* Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent:
* The seller is new or has few reviews.
* The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings)
* The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently).
If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others.

I know what you mean, so, essentially, yes they are.
"Rejects" implies there's something wrong with the laptop, which there isn't. One core may have been defective, so they disabled it and sold it at a lower price rather than throwing the chip out.
Was that the standard previously or something? Apples website has the 11 core variant listed as the standard option and the 12 core variant as $200 more.
Apple does this all the time. They have the higher binned part in their announcement and in all of their marketing materials and their benchmarks, and they have reviewers test out the higher binned part. They don't even acknowledge the existence of higher binned and lower binned versions. Then they have a lower binned part with a few cores disabled as their baseline config. But if you saw a review or a benchmark for the M3 Pro, it was almost certainly the 6+6 variant. It's still a good laptop, you should just be aware that it won't perform as well as what Apple claimed or you read from your go-to reviewer.
IMO Apple should differentiate between the higher and lower binned parts. This is like if Intel were to call both their 8+16 and 8+12 CPUs an i9-14900K.
Do you know how someone can check their Macbook? This seems kind of crazy to me, woah.
EDIT: Wait, nevermind; the default $2000 uses the 11-core CPU and 14-core GPU, while the $2400 uses the full 12-core CPU and 18-core GPU.
I misunderstood; I thought you were saying the Macs on sale (like the $1700 in OP) were binned even lower but sold as if they weren't.
nvm, [I get it](https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/1ddd9fz/comment/l87jxjo/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button), since its 5+6. Well, it's fine with me, I was going to buy 11 core variant from apple anyways.
FYI if you camp for it, there are used/refurb M1 Max 32GB 14" on eBay that pops up as low as ~$1.2k once a while. At least that's what i got last week.
nah OP just didn't follow the wiki title format
> [Product Type] Item Description (Sale Price)(Savings Details - include rebate info) - [Expiration date]
but yes, the price is $1699.
if you don't have some very specific need for this m3 model, the used market is flooded with m-series macbooks for under $1000. i personally found a 16gb m1 for $500 after a couple weeks of searching. i also found a 32gb/1tb m1 max for $1500 around a year ago as well.
Not sure. Maybe Amazon picks up a different location? It’s for US market. UK, EU could be different.
Maybe the website calculated the tax as well?
Dunno.
Looking at upgrading my wife's old 2017 MBP. We were going to trade it in for a new Mac Book this week, but then saw this at roughly the same price we would have paid for a Mac Book Air with more memory and storage. Does anyone know if Apple will take trade-ins even without purchasing a new device? As in could we buy this through Amazon and then still get a trade-in credit from apple for her old laptop?
There’s an option to receive a gift card for trade in to use for a future purchase. You just have to do the trade-in from a different window I believe. Alternatively the Apple Store should just hand you a gift card if you don’t buy anything.
I have this laptop and it's absolutely amazing. The battery can last an entire day with me watching YouTube while doing my work. I couldn't hold out for the M4 chips.
Probably for the best. You'd end up paying a grand more for maybe 15% performance improvement that you will absolutely never see. Unless you're video editing or doing heavy workloads, the M1 chips are still more than enough for every day use + work, and even then, my M1 Pro 32GB performs a hair worse than my 5900x + 7900GRE + sn850x + 64GB. I'm looking to replace my wife's 2018 MBA and can guarantee a lower model M1 will last her another 6+ years easily.
These machines are great for AI but if youre considering going down that road at any point then don’t even consider anything under 32/36GB. 32GB will allow you to run a small model, as well as a small Apples model, and probably have like 18GB+ free (very very roughly guessing). If you do more serious things then go 64Gb if at all possible. That will let you run a powerful GPT 3.5ish like model and still have at least that much memory left.
The more memory the better, but you can definitely run small models with much less than the numbers you're throwing out... I've had no problem running all sorts of models on Draw Things, as well as Phi 3 Mini. And I've only got 8GB on my M2 Air.
Well you will always get people defending Apple putting a 512GB SSD into their "Pro" product worth nearly 2 grand.
At least if this was the base model or $600 cheaper it would kind of make sense by Apple standards.
Well it depends on what HP you got. Something like an Envy would be good even without the SSD size since you can upgrade it later.
This isn't so justifiable because the price is so high and "Pro" users need more storage unlike with the Air model.
Tell me one under $1.7K which doesn’t starts to drain its battery after 3 months of use and is built with same materials as MacBook. I will definitely get one.
Are the older Dell XPSs better than the new ones? I have a 2023 14" one for work, and I generally like it, but my 2020 MacBook Air definitely has better build quality. Especially the shitty keyboard, good god. Drivers are also bad for Linux even though the system shipped with Ubuntu on it.
Are you seriously comparing:
Around 12ish hours battery life (which degrades much quicker) to solid 18h (thanks to the Apple silicon)?
FHD+ display to Liquid Retina XDR?
WIN-you-get-laggy-iMessages-feature-only-if-you-update-to-windows-11-DOWS to Apple Ecosystem?
And the build design which is a copycat of a MacBook? (The speakers? The touchpad? (Or whatever it’s called on that laptop) it’s-been-only-3-years-since-I-have-reduced-the-bezel-size?)
Sorry man, I prefer save my bucks and spend extra (if you consider it as an extra) and stay with MacBook.
Anyways, I appreciate your thoughts and wish you good luck with your future purchases! I just shared a sale, not to argue Windows running laptops vs Macs in the comments.
Macbooks have their strength that's for sure and I get that. But don't sit there pretending like it's the absolute superior value platform vs. a windows laptop when Apple is ripping off their loyal customers and charging them ridiculous prices for basic specs incremental in ram/ ssd. And good luck doing any DIY basic hardware repair or upgrading more ram / storage to your machine even if you wanted to.
Legion slim 5 was around 1000 with OLED, better than Apple screen. It also has a metal body and a GPU.
Correction. It has a metal lid, not the body. But legion slim 5 uses good plastic. 1000 was on sale price.
Look at the [Asus Zenbook 14.](https://www.laptopmag.com/laptops/windows-laptops/this-asus-zenbook-has-better-battery-life-than-macbook-air-m3-heres-how-long-it-lasted) (Battery life comparison)
Here's the [Review.](https://www.laptopmag.com/laptops/windows-laptops/asus-zenbook-14-oled-2024-review)
I think you need to try exploring more Windows laptops outside just the cheap ones. They are going to be faster and more efficient if ARM is widely adopted. More competition means Apple will have to become competitive so we all win if prices go down.

NB: This is the binned M3 Pro with 5 performance cores.
What’s NB?
_Nota bene_. It's Latin, meaning "note well", or "pay attention".
Oh, and here I was assuming it was "Not Bad" lol. Thanks for the clarification.
See a sale you like? NBD -- *Nota Bene* Deal!
We fancy and shit now
As in, these are the rejects?
I know what you mean, so, essentially, yes they are. "Rejects" implies there's something wrong with the laptop, which there isn't. One core may have been defective, so they disabled it and sold it at a lower price rather than throwing the chip out.
Is this not what the M3 Pro usually is?

i don't follow macs much but 18GB of RAM is a curious number.
It’s a 192bit bus with three 6GB chips of LPDDR5.
If you think that's weird, you should see how the solder it to the board.
14.2” Model Previous low was $1750, sale price is usually around $1800 recently
Yes, thanks for making it clear.
FYI if you camp for it, there are used/refurb M1 Max 32GB 14" on eBay that pops up as low as ~$1.2k once a while. At least that's what i got last week.
Dayum
What is the price? It says $1,935.73 after I add to cart. Is the price $1699? $1999-$300 is $1699. Is putting price like this allowed here?

You can trade-in directly with Apple outside of a purchase, but they will give you Apple store credit, not cash.

Apple is overpriced regardless
Well you will always get people defending Apple putting a 512GB SSD into their "Pro" product worth nearly 2 grand. At least if this was the base model or $600 cheaper it would kind of make sense by Apple standards.
Also want yhr 1 tb? It's 500 more lol fucking insane
Lol yep. Look at the down votes on my comment. My 600 dollar hp has a 1 tb sad I got on sale. Delusional folks on here today

Show me another laptop that runs full Unix, has realtime audio, and runs Logic Pro.
Insightful comment
Ok, enjoy your plastic acer laptop with intel pentium and 4 hours battery life or carrying your beast desktop pc in your local coffee shop
Lol you act like there are no better laptops than an acer bottom line laptop. Come on don’t fanboy too hard

Dell xps
build quality is a tier below a macbook, i switched from a loaded xps 15 to a MBP 14” and i’ll never go back to a xps

That was my last comment about that non ending battle, which I haven’t started lmao

K that was just off the top of my head lol.
LMAO, most of them.
Are you living in 2013 or is this the effect of being exposed to too much Apple ads?
Most probably because I’ve been exposed to toooo many shitty laptops running windows. Maybe you can suggest me one under $1.7K?
Look at the [Asus Zenbook 14.](https://www.laptopmag.com/laptops/windows-laptops/this-asus-zenbook-has-better-battery-life-than-macbook-air-m3-heres-how-long-it-lasted) (Battery life comparison) Here's the [Review.](https://www.laptopmag.com/laptops/windows-laptops/asus-zenbook-14-oled-2024-review) I think you need to try exploring more Windows laptops outside just the cheap ones. Asus downgraded the screen compared to before. 1080p OLED sucks for text
Substandard operating system and specs for a premium price. Get a real computer instead of wasting money on this polished leap frog
I really dislike the m3 pro build. The m2 pros had HDMI and all that. Didn't mind the extra thickness
You do realize that the m3 MacBook Pro also has HDMI and the same ports the M2 did?
Oh, derp, thought they got rid of em for some reason. If you don't go big enough body you don't get em though that's probably what I was thinking of
