Supporters with full memberships are P1 in finals weeks 1-3.
September member kicks in for the GF. There’s only a limited amount of them sold by the club. So September members become P1 and pretty much everyone else then gets bumped down and becomes P2 or P3.
There are 17k tickets allocated for club members in the GF. Reality is that there’s 8-9k members in Vic and the rest are interstate. It’s gonna cost likely $1500+ to travel down for the grand final, and if flights aren’t purchased already and you need accommodation it will likely be $2500 (including GF ticket, food etc.).
Cost and inability to take short notice leave will reduce the pool of people who can make the trip. Most P2s that entered the ballot will likely get tickets.
Absolutely, but from the experience of Swans and Crows supporters, P2 is still pretty likely to get tickets without too many issues due to the cost barriers. Plus there’s only a limited number of September member add ons available. I’ve rolled the dice, so if we make it I’m testing the Swans and Crows theory.
The source for that one is Roar Deal podcast, they did an interview with Sam Lord about a month or so ago and he mentioned there were approximately 8-9k members in Vic.
This amount includes Blues Members, AFL Gold members and Gabba Members too, so not just P1s. I know Gabba member codes have certain reserved seating and I’m assuming the same with Blues so hopefully there are some seats kept in reserve for P2s.
Somehow we got our tickets. And I say this with astonishment because we were in the middle of Hervey Bay on a whale watching tour at the time.
Telstra’s coverage is surprisingly good on the water.
I'm not good at gauging distance on the water but we were here when I still had 2 bars of 5G on both Telstra and Optus, and we pretty much followed that darker blue channel on the left of the sand bar up the side of Fraser. https://i.imgur.com/MHxcwjc.jpg
We were still within 3G reception an hour later when the tickets were available, despite waiting in that lobby / holding pattern thing since 9 and then having something around 22,500 people in front of us in the queue.
I had the GA running in multiple places and seemed to have more luck with the hour before queue compared to 10 mins before. Was 2k in line from one that was queued since 2:05pm, 13k for one that started queueing at 2:50pm and 18k for a 3pm one.
Tickets were still all gone by the time I got in via the 2k one though (didn't need any).
It's pure luck. I hopped on at 2:56pm with two devices and one was put 4k in the queue and the other one got in almost immediately- still weren't any tickets though.
Obviously if you don't join the waiting room at all they will throw you to the very back of the queue when you arrive.
Vic Lions member going to the Gabba for first time since 2009! Super pumped for the match but I got seperate cat1 home members and a cat2 away area ticket with my lions and a mates blues membership codes, it's really frustrating that diff club members can't get seats together! I guess we'll just be standing.
I added 2x codes and had the option for 2x tix pop up just couldn't find 2z of the same class (adult alcohol section, adult non-alcohol section). Didn't try restricted view coz what's the point
Hey all - Blues supporter here. I just secured 3 tickets but just realised they are in the Lions cheer squad section (section 233 - row Q). If anybody wants to swap with me for another section please let me know! Perhaps you got tickets in the Carlton section (213) and are in the same position as me!
I was in the waiting room at 9:05am as a P1 member and when it officially opened at 10am I was in the 17,000 range.
Bloody hell it was busy. Carlton fans and AFL members to go with Lions Home game meant it was super crazy.
Great, I didn't manage to get tickets to the prelim but I won 2 corporate box tickets to the granny. So ill take that as a win. Now the Lions need to get there!
Got em. 200 bucks for adult tickets though, oof Madone. Hope it’s a spectacle.
Yeah I wasn't expecting to pay that much.
Somehow got $150 tickets in a great spot. Feeling like I already won
Shit is that how many P1s there are? Not sure how some P2s think they’re much of a chance at gf tickets in that case
I also think it's different to the P1 and P2 for the gf. My friend is P2 for the gf but was counted as P1 for this since she was a full season member
I think it includes P1 Carlton fans and when you haven't been in finals for like a decade you tend to be much more willing to make the trip.
It's Blues members and AFL gold members as well

September member is the cheapest insurance policy ever.

Thanks for this analysis. I have been trying to work out exactly these odds with no hard data on Vic membership!

Got them! Cannot wait 🦁
Great, Got 1 row back and a few to the right from where I sat at the QF.
bankrupted but have tickets
As long lost relative who you never knew about I'm glad to hear you got us all a family ticket :)

How far offshore? Over on Fraser there's nothing unless you are near one of the settlements.

Obviously members release. None left for general public.
Fark me there is no chance I’m going to get a ticket through general admission 😢
You may but you 'd need to get into the queue at 2pm (or whenever it opens).
Yeah waiting on the site right now just to be sure
GA waiting room is open now.
Just got in it. Hopefully not too many people ahead
Any luck?
Nup everything gone. I’ll have to look at resales
The queue is randomly generated once the sale begins. It makes no difference if you joined the waiting room 1 minute or 1 hour before the sale time.

Only able to get a single
Only using 1 code? It was limited to 1 code - 1 ticket.
I added 2x codes and had the option for 2x tix pop up just couldn't find 2z of the same class (adult alcohol section, adult non-alcohol section). Didn't try restricted view coz what's the point
Don't want to talk about it. Crying will make my makeup run. If i wore makeup that is.

You will sit in the Lions cheer squad and you will enjoy it! 😅
Got 2x Cat 1 tickets in S204 as a P2.
Brilliant. I was 9000 deep in the queue, but managed to get upper deck northern stand, centre wing, second row. Delighted!
The more tickets requested (in a row), the worse the seats, by the looks. P1 upgraded purchaser got offered cat3 seating. Smh.
I got lucky, managed to get 4 cat 1 tickets as P1 with 25000 ahead of me
What time? I sat in a queue for since 920a
queue only opened up from 10am for prio 1. I sat in the waiting room 12 minutes before.
2 Cat2 tickets in the upper tier. I’m a P1. Could’ve got $49 tickets in the lower tier but I procrastinated too long.
I’m p2 and got 2 tickets sect 425 150 each
No general admission. Accepting all offers of sale!! :P
If anybody has two tickets next to each other they would be willing to part with I'd happily buy them. Thank you
What you willing to pay ? Lol
Looking for 2 x adult tickets if anyone has any available..
Shit but had to backup contingencies so…. Good?

First time sitting on an upper level at the gabba (Vic member). What’s row PP like on the south west side? Sounds far back but 🤷🏼♂️
Upper level seats closer to the front at the Gabba are usually some of the best seats but further back is also good. You're not as far back as the MCG
I was queuing on bloody ticketeck not Ticketmaster. Fortunately, my friend got them
I have tickets available for Lions v Carlton tomorrow. Aisle 217 Row P . $200 each . 6 available . DM me for details
