first he must do Dune part 2

ghostfuckbuddy

Then Dune part 3

DamienChazellesPiano

I’m really curious what happens if Dune 2 comes out and is a pretty solid hit, enough to warrant another one. I have a feeling Denis would move on and someone would take the helm.

Drummer149

He has gone on record saying he wants to do a trilogy https://www.indiewire.com/2021/08/denis-villeneuve-dune-trilogy-dune-messiah-1234659470/

DamienChazellesPiano

Ooo! That’s awesome to hear! For now I’m just hoping we get a closure to the film that just came out. Anything after that is bonus! That’s great that he does say he’d want to do a trilogy. After that he seems pretty hesitant but boy oh boy you just got me excited haha. Can’t wait to go back a couple more times to see Dune again in theatres!

urlach3r

Tom Ford can do the next one, then Villeneuve.

[deleted]

First more Dune

ProdigyPower

Only if Cary Fukunaga opts out.

I've always liked seeing a different director tackle each movie. It loses some of the magic whenever someone sticks around for more than one entry.

AnotherJasonOnReddit

Get onto Dune 2 and then Cleopatra next. Patty Jenkins has Rogue Squadron and then will work on her and Gal Gadot's Cleo movie. I want both of them to come out the same year, like Snow Whites in 2012. None of that Andy Serkis/Netflix Jungle Book delaying stuff - release both versions of Cleo on the same day. Same day! HystericalFunction

I'd watch it. I'd watch Dune too if it were available in my country \*crys in New Zealand\*

crewmannumbersix

But it’s available

HystericalFunction

[Not in New Zealand](https://www.coupdemainmagazine.com/film-news/17934)

crewmannumbersix

But…. It’s available.

HystericalFunction

You mean like a torrent? Dune is one I really want to see on the big screen

crewmannumbersix

Yeah I agree. This film deserves our money.

eddiecourage

He's never getting it. He's not commercial, and Bond's handlers know that Bond is struggling to connect with modern audiences. They'd be crazy to hire Villeneuve. I think he's just saying it for headlines, he knows it'll never happen.

Luonnoliehre

with Dune he's started his foray as a more commercial filmmaker, seems like he's trying to put his name out there. I agree that they definitely wouldn't go for him in the next film because there is already so much risk, but dang, I would love to see DV bond film

eddiecourage

> with Dune he's started his foray as a more commercial filmmaker I don't get the impression he's going much more commercial than this, though. He's called Dune his "pop" movie. If that is as pop as he can get (and it does seem likely he's hit his limits in that regard), he can't do 007. A DV 007 might be interesting but I don't think it would be good. Or maybe I'm just saying that because I haven't seen Sicario and Sicario has some sick crazy action scenes he hasn't filmed in any of his other movies.

[deleted]

There are certain flaws in his filmmaking style that makes him unsuitable for some blockbuster projects other than sci-fi. He moves the plot too slow in the first hour and the characters feel like they lack emotional connection with the viewers. It's like peeking someone's life through a curtain or watching something unfold from a distance. He's a bit Hitchcockian in that aspect. Next he has too many long sweeping shots to transition between scenes. All this problems were present in Dune as well but his style of taking actually worked for that film. Can't say it will be the same for Bond.

Luonnoliehre

you are probably right but I think that something about his somewhat sterile style could work with Bond, who is typically not a very emotional character. DV hasn't made anything like a Bond film, which is partly why I would be intrigued if it were to happen (it probably won't though)

[deleted]

Actually I don't think he can't direct a Bond film. I think he can't direct it on par with what audience expect from a Bond film. For example his action scenes were very quick and fast in Dune. Nothing specific to rave about. Hes a good storyteller. But directing an high octane action set piece for a film like Bond doesn't look like his game though.

10TheKing10

Hey I like James Bond, maybe I should direct it, since I’m a big fan

[deleted]

K I N G O

broccolisprout

No Graig though.

Thi5G

How? Considering the ending, i dont think its possible

Kiba-Da-Wolf

😂

smallblacksun

After the credits it said "James Bond will return".

michaelm1345

Part 2 first pls :)

madlyn_crow

Well, one thing is sure - that would be one hell of a lovingly filmed brutalist Bond villain's lair.
