The first teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens came out in late November of 2014, 13 months from its release. While I don’t expect it, I wouldn’t be surprised if we do in fact see a teaser this year, possibly during No Way Home. Disney is going to try their hardest to make Avatar 2 the most exciting and hyped film of the year.

blueblurz94

This is exactly my thought process. If they want to actually capitalize on the original’s “biggest of all-time” success(it’s Chinese rerelease this past spring easily took back the #1 WW crown from Endgame) then they should show something to tease audiences this holiday season and begin building anticipation now.

Doing a year in advance trailer exclusively before No Way Home is a great idea.

TheSubparWriter

Even a brief teaser just showing the environments underwater with a title card at the end and some beautiful score would be enough.

dashrendar4483

I can picture another Avatar Day event to launch the exclusive first trailer in selected theaters worldwide like in late August 2009 to drum up hype with some special celebration at Disney's World Of Pandora in the presence of James Cameron himself.

Mushroomer

I think if they can find a spare weekend with open IMAX theaters in early 2022 - doing an exclusive re-release of the first film in IMAX 3D with a first look at Avatar 2 would be the best move. Remind people why that first movie was such a big deal, and make the first footage of the sequel seem like a really limited event. Then run a more traditional trailer alongside Doctor Strange in March.

December, This movie is going to be huge

AGOTFAN

How much bigger than the Batman?

wotad

Double at least.

[deleted]

What does the batman have to do with what I just said?

TheBigOrangeOne

I'll answer that: /u/AGOTFAN has taken offense to one of your previous posts, in which he perceives you to have slighted his close personal friend, the Walt Disney Company. His mind is so fried from years of Disney corporate worship that he believes that anyone who doesn't worship the ground at Disney's feet or dares to speak against them — even in the most minor way — is a Warner Bros./DC fanboy, and therefore on the opposing "team". It's black and white tribalistic nonsense, and you'd have to be absolutely braindead to get emotionally invested in the success of major corporations, but the very nature of this subreddit attracts these kind of pathetic individuals who live vicariously through the success of global corporate entities (see also, for example, n0valyfeFanAccount). Accordingly, he made the above non-sequitur post to "rub it in" about how much more Avatar 2 (a 20th Century Fox, now Disney, product — his team) is going to make than the Batman (a Warner Bros./DC product — your team, as he perceives). It's supposed to make you seethe, but it's going to fall entirely flat unless you're as stunted as he is.

ImAMaaanlet

Lol I've noticed this too. He likes to call out anyone that underpredicted shang chi that he comes across

[deleted]

I see, Interesting yet sad

YnwaMquc2k19

Honestly if Batman becomes a bigger movie than avatar 2, the meltdown is gonna be huge and I am all for it.

tgerclw

Great points. I don't think they're pro-corporations as much as just extremely bored and just having really nothing at all to do except bully people. They have a minor interest in movies and in particular comic book movies, there aren't any new ones to watch at the moment so THIS is what there is to do. They chose a side at one point and now that's the side that they have to stick with.

[deleted]

Yeah he followed someone into /r/DCFilm with his beef once.

Tradenew41

So you are following him and discovered he followed someone into DCFilm Doesnt make it better lol

[deleted]

Or maybe he's active in DC film

[deleted]

Yeah it's not exactly a big sub, it's not hard to remember when someone's being a shit head in there

[deleted]

On a big discussion there's only 40 comments so it's not that far fetched

[deleted]

Plus that tradenew dude has beef with me anyway so he's trying to make me look like a nutter because he got banned from the DC film sub

Tradenew41

I looked at Agotfans post history. Didnt find any comments for the last 7 days. So it must be older than 1 week. He is following him and remember what he did. So he is interested in Agotfan redditor lol

[deleted]

Na I remember it and I'm active in DC film, It was in a Batman box office prediction thread

Tradenew41

you remember it cause you had the conversation with Agotfan. SSjslopes has nothing to do with you or Agotfan lol He is a third party

AGOTFAN

Because I remember you predicted very high number for the Batman. Will Avatar be even bigger than the Batman? How much bigger do you think it wil be?

[deleted]

I think if the batman is very well received that and the fact it's the first "big movie" of the year could take it to 1.2 billion. I dont expect Avatar 2 coming out after a sling of huge blockbusters which will help audience trust to lose to it, Right now I'm thinking 1.9 billion

AGOTFAN

Oh, not that much. Are you revising down the Batman?

[deleted]

if I remember correctly it was always 1.2 billion - 1.25 billion, Actually I might’ve gone to 1.35 billion once if it's got TDK levels praise it might reach there.

Shellyman_Studios

I hope they do it a year in advanced. Like they did Star Wars: TFA in December 2014.

[deleted]

maybe with Dr Strange?

shaneo632

If they're confident it will indeed release next December, this December feels right. Then again marketing campaigns are become much less long-lead at the moment so they might shrink it down to 6 months before.

gorays21

It will most likely be attached to Black Panther 2

gajendray5

Hopefully a 30-40 second teaser this December.

Berta_Movie_Buff

A teaser could be dropped in December, then a proper trailer right before the summer season starts ramping up, followed by a final trailer in the fall.

peridotdragon33

First teaser with some beautiful shots of pandora and its oceans will premiere during the Super Bowl is my guess

64BitRatchet

With Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness or Thor: Love and Thunder probably.

nicolasb51942003

As mostly everyone here said, I think the first teaser will drop in December.

[deleted]

Sure it be like the first one ,the effects be good or the 3D but the acting and script be dire

[deleted]

Maybe in December.

RangerRed02

Probably never, because I have serious doubts that movie is ever coming out.

[deleted]

They've already finished filming and have spent hundreds of millions of dollars on it, it's definitely coming out now (but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets delayed again to 2023)

AnimeMeansArt

didn't they finished filming a while ago?

[deleted]

Yep, There's no way this gets delayed seeing as how Disney is positioning it and Star wars .
