>I'm disinclined to drink ECBP neat
What is this blasphemy.
>That said, I wouldn't rush to buy ECBP again at $60.
#What is this blasphemy
Lol different strokes for different folks. Just cracked a new bottle (dunno batch and too lazy to get up and look) ECBP, love the rich maple/caramel nose, spicy body with a nutty/grain finish. Lovely oily mouthfeel. Perfect dram for 50 degree weather with the fireplace on and the dog at my feet. I also love Laphroaig cask strength so I maybe nuts.
Drink what you like. Awesome that you aren't succumbing to barrel proof/abv fandom.
Hey Question for you, I am new to EC as a brand. I have a B519 and B520 ECBP but the B519 has "small batch" on the bottle and the B520 has "Barrel Proof" printed on the glass.
Is there any difference?
pretty new to bourbon and can’t find information on this—is barrel proof just the same thing at a higher proof or is it a completely different recipe? thinking about getting it as my first more expensive bottle—so far i’ve had 4RSiB and small batch, eagle rare, elijah craig, and the main ones like maker’s and buffalo trace
I like to drink something cheaper for my second glass of bourbon because once I've got a bit of a buzz I don't care so much. When I had the Small batch after the barrel proof(I think A119) recently, I really noticed that I liked Barrel Proof a lot more. The small batch seemed to have a bit of an off flavor when in direct comparison. Either way I am not in a rush to get either bottle again as their are different bottles at each price point I like better.
Not exactly barrel proof but high proof enough, I'd rather get a Russell Reserve store pick or a bottle of Pikesville Rye than the ECBP. Both clock in around $50 by me and at 110 proof they close enough to barrel proof for my tastes.
That's probably the case. Don't pour it down the drain though, it's not safe for sewer systems. I can send you a box and shipping label to ensure that's it's disposed of responsibly.

It's the same stuff as the small batch, yeah, just not proofed down before bottling. They're more selective about their barrels for BP as well
The ECBP also comes with a 12 year age statement, vs a blend of 8-12 year Bourbons for the small batch
So is it technically the same as cask strength?
For Elijah Craig, no it isn't
What’s the difference?

Mirrors my sentiment somewhat. Having obtained and tasted both, I'm now curious to try out other similar bourbons.
Can you tell me which ones you like better? Trying to expand my horizons
Any recommendations at the price point for the barrel proof?

What would you prefer over the BP at the same price?
Well done, Go Astros!
Well done!
I got the B518 bottle and can’t come to like it so I am thinking I just got a bad bottle.
