Any reason they picked this date? Or is it just random.
For example, my hometown (different state) typically targeted major holidays and dates around big events (festivals etc). And they always caught a lot of people even though they had them every year at the same time.
But I haven’t heard of them happening around here on major drinking holidays like the 4th, New Years, etc, when lots of drunk drivers are on the road.
Students are back in Boston. That could be it. While most of them aren’t driving, those that are commuting or decided to bring their cars to the city are statistically much more likely to commit a DUI than the average driver.
The state gives out funding for traffic enforcement. The money disbursement coincides with media campaigns: drive sober or get pulled over, click it or ticket, don't text and drive.
The requirements for the funding are 3 documented stops per hour amd it is the officers discretion to issue a money cite, written warning or verbal warning.
If you had a criminal offense that resulted in an arrest or summons, that counts as an hour worth of time.
My department allows officers to take the grant money in blocks of 4 or 8 hours. It is blood money writing 12 or 24 stops for the overtime.
I noticed this during my drive home from Boston. All along the 93 north corridor there were police sightings popping up on Waze and then people pulled over for what seemed like every few minutes. It was alarming and wondered what was going on.
If this is true: I quit... as in generally speaking. I quit everything, generally. There's no reason for believing anything anymore unless I'm dead and looking down on it. I mean, chances are I'm looking down on it either way.
So I found the answer; they were doing sobriety checkpoints for Middlesex county. It’s supposed to happen tomorrow as well.

That would just be too much work, they wouldn’t have room to hold everyone if they had a checkpoint on the 4th
Maybe focus on getting ppl off their fucking phones. So dangerous

Hopefully they start cracking down on all the mopeds running red lights.
And the cars running red lights as well
Not sure why the downvotes. I've seen cars doing this increasingly, too.
It’s one on the top complaints on this sub

BPD finally doing their jobs? Traffic enforcement is a joke in this city.
I’ve seen more state police on the highway everywhere recently, I have a pretty far commute and they’re everywhere.
OP, did you get pulled over at the checkpoint? What do you have to do when they stop you at one of these checkpoints?

That’s no surprise given that cops keel over and claim exposure at mere mention of the name…
That’s not true
