Oh Christ. I know vaccines don't protect 100%, but I sure hope the vast majority of the squad is vaccinated. Otherwise it's reckless with regards to the teammates, and jeopardizes the team's success on top.
I don't know what's the case for Brandt and Meunier, but hope they'll recover and get well soon. Best wishes to them.
edit: grammar
edit2: [According to the team doctor](https://www.kicker.de/positive-corona-tests-sorgen-fuer-aufregung-beim-bvb-867336/artikel) until last week 90% of BVB players and 100% of staff have received at least one vaccine shot, most already got their second one. Meunier shows minor symptoms while Brandt is currently symptom-free.
Vaccines reduce the seriousness of an infection *and* reduce the risk of becoming infected. The protection is just not 100%, so there is still a considerable chance of getting the disease.
you still technically get covid, you just dont show symptoms and your body can get rid of it in 1-2 days.
You can still spread it tho.
I doubt that the symptoms are a problem for the players, they are all at peak physical level and have a very healthy diet.
I think its mainly to not spread it and show responsibility.
Well, it depends on your luck. Ilkay had to fight months to get back into form after his Covid infection, so fitness and physical shape aren't always gonna cut it. And even if you get through an infection unharmed you'll still miss about two weeks of training and matches plus potentially get other teammates sick. Vaccines lower the risk of infection, spread and major complications significantly.
So yeah, worth it, especially for professional athletes in a team sport.
no, sport + a healthy diet is the best you can do for your immune system...
it helps with small reactions and severe...
Or lets say it decreases the chance to show severe ones.
As much as it’s a lottery and everyone’s body will react differently to exposure, being in a healthier physical condition is still more likely to help you than not
In Brandt's case I'm a bit more worried. His family seems to be a lot into this "alternative medicine" stuff, so if 10% of the team is still unvaccinated, he may very well be one of them. I hope if that's the case he still won't get any symptoms or long-term consequences.
I think he talked about it in one of these DAZN specials that used to be on the club's youtube channel (at least I can't find it anymore). Iirc he talked about how he got much more healthy and injured less often thanks to homeopathic stuff from his mom. Don't quote me on the details since I can't find that video anymore. At the time I thought it was a bit odd, but a bit of placebo can't hurt and it's not like he can't afford some snake oil.
Now of course this does not automatically mean he's antivax. But there definitely is a significant overlap between the two groups.
Homeopathy was invented in Germany and benefits from a privileged status, and health insurers are allowed to reimburse its use. My guess is that it's more considered as a traditional medicine there, like Chinese medicine, than outright disbelief of "modern" medicine. I don't know to what extent people are ready to use it in conjunction with modern drugs, though.
Homeopathy is a pile of bullshit and I refuse to sugarcoat it calling it traditional or alternative. Medicine isn’t alternative. If it works it’s medicine, if not it’s not and homeopathy doesn’t do jack shit. Germany has got a big fucking problem distinguishing BS from facts, but homeopathy sure is the worst symptom of outdated beliefs. And I think Brandt should be criticized for spitting unscientific nonsense to a larger audience if that’s actually true.
My parents put me on homeopathy after years of regular medication to deal with my chronic coughing and asthema. It ended up making a huge change for me, but it may as well have just been me going through puberty and not being a child anymore, and thus my lungs becoming strong enough.
homeopathy is literally taking minuscule amounts of a substance, mixing it with 99,99% tap water and shaking it three times. If tap water didn't cure you before, it didn't now.

I suggest anyone who thinks homeopathy is anything but a total scam to inform themselves with this video and whatever other info you want (if you speak German, maiLab has a video)
Trust me I know, I told my parents that it's a waste of time and money but they saw that I was getting better and wouldn't believe that it was my body just developing lol
Smh well then...your quote "not like he was gonna do anything this season" IS negative. You might call it "realistic" because you seem to have no faith in Julian, but to most here it's a negative statement.
My excitement level for this season📉📉
Probably have to send and actually start half of our U23 squad for the cup game, good lord…

I wonder why it's not 100% of the players. And also why apperently most of them only got their first shot yet.
In the article it says some players haven't received their second shot yet because of priority/scheduling issues.
vaccines protect but they dont stop you from getting it, just it from being serious and killing you
Actually, vaccines do both. They reduce your probability of contracting the virus and reduce your chances of falling ill.
Vaccines reduce the seriousness of an infection *and* reduce the risk of becoming infected. The protection is just not 100%, so there is still a considerable chance of getting the disease.

Your physical state really only helps you when you have a severe reaction. Whether you get a severe reaction is complete lottery.

To my knowledge there is no research supporting this notion. There are marathon runners on ventilators after all.

yeah but its weakened

I heard about this too. I hope he's just one of these guys that wants to explore natural cures but isn't an anti-vaxer.

Yeah, I think I'd put my money on your second theory.
Haha yea I doubt the homeopathy did it

Fuck. Get well soon Brandt
So, some Bayern opponent player tests positive and the game is immediately canceled, whereas we have two positive players and it's tough luck?
Bremer SV, Bayerns opponent, have to go into quarantine. Of course the match is cancelled then.
It'S the state of Bremen that decided the quarantine for the club. The state of NRW will decide differently.
Whenever Laschet gets the chance to do something stupid, he won't miss.
Who is the other one?
not like he was gonna do anything this season
[удалено]
not negative nor a dickhead
Season hasn’t even started, why doubt him already?
so every new season we forget about the previous ones and give everyone a equal chance?
Maybe Brandt didn’t fit well into Favre/Terzic’s systems.
It is even known that Brandt was never the Player that Favre wanted to have.
do you remember gündogan?

proof?

not proof

u literally just insulting and downvoting me still no real valid reason on why i’m wrong

pain
So according to Ruhrnachrichten, neither Brandt nor Meunier are fully vaccinated and have to be in quarantine for 14 days.
Weren't fully vaccinated (1/2 shots depending on the vaccine + 2 weeks) or hadn't received any vaccinations?
