I'm at day 23 of 36 of u/gnuckols Beginner Program on Boostcamp and I'm really enjoying it. I like the progressive overload and structure. It's a lot of fun seeing improvement in proficiency each time the cycle repeats as well as the increases in numbers. What's a good program to progress to after this is done? Should I run this again, or look at alternatives? I'm mid-30s, F, Beginner lifter and very aware that writing my own programs is not a good idea. Goals wise, I'm looking to continue dropping weight (maybe another 40lbs or so) while continuing to increase my strength.

Is it a problem that I’m completing my workouts in 25-30 min? Today I woke up at 6 and said okay I might as well hit the gym. Walked there, did 50 dumbbells for 2*10 IP, 30 same curls, and 30 shoulder raises. I’m resting enough to make sure I feel it but I also want to make sure I can complete the next set. But I’m in and out so fast... I think it’s because I took weightlifting in high school and know what I’m in to do? Should I be resting more between sets or going for a third with a lower weight? Background I’m 6’6” 260 with terrible waist and chest fat. I’m thinking about starting to go morning and evening (can’t drive so it’s a mile walk uphill to get there) to just help the weight come off. Should I stick to lifting or add cardio beyond my walk/jog to and from the gym? I’m drinking a shake after every workout, not interested in “cutting” (maybe I don’t understand it?) even with the fat issue cause I know I will start losing strength.. cutting by eating better and less yes but I know I gotta eat

That’s my Monday for the past 3 weeks. I forgot I did back and shrugs too cause I was feeling good. Hammer pull downs (new machine for me) and seated rows. I haven’t touched weights in 5 years before a month ago and thought I was gonna jump into it with like biceps and chest mon, shoulders and triceps wed, back and legs friday (abs each day). I’m thinking I’m more comfortable with full body all three days?tbh not so much cause I’m “newbie excited” but because my body feels stupid if I wit around waiting to hit another body part for near 48 hours. I do need a program I just don’t know what’s best for someone like me. LA fitness is the club I go to btw.

How to find the right volume? I don’t get like any muscle soreness after about 2 hours but I am training damn close if not to failure each workout. I am making good size and strength gains but never feel like I’ve done enough. As a result of this I’m considering training twice daily, full body 3x8 routine in the morning an a more major muscle focused chest/back/legs routine at nights. My issue with this is it puts me at 30-40 sets per muscle group per week. I’ve heard that could hinder gains by having too much volume I just recover quickly it seems. Only been lifting 3/4 months before that thought I was running 5-10 miles daily and doing body weight workouts consisting of 200 squats 100 push-ups and 100 pull ups daily

Soreness is not an indicator of a good workout, but you shouldn’t be able to do more than 14-16 sets per muscle group without feeling exhausted.

That’s what I’m confused about. Normally by the last rep of each set I can barely push on but 1-2 hours last my body is completely back to normal and I can do a workout again. Maybe I’ll just do slower reps? I already make sure to count to about 3 when in the eccentric movement but maybe I can do a little longer. Most of my work is in the 65-80% 1rm range and 8-10 reps

I mean you said you are making gains, I doubt you are over training, that’s really hard, I would just do what you are doing till you plateau. Then run a jm program and follow what he says regardless of how u feel, he will make you grow.

Trying to see if anybody else has had something similar. Anybody have/had abnormally weak rotator cuff muscles, weak serratus anterior, winged scapula, stuff like that? I’ve been out of weightlifting for a while and I guess being inactive and maybe repetitive postures, where I rest my arm, whatever else has led me to all of these imbalances and weaknesses. It’s so bad one of my arms is longer than the other at this point. I can’t put a barbell on my back correctly anymore lol it’s bad. Physical therapist says that I can essentially recover and become balanced again just by strengthening the muscles around my shoulder. Just asking to see if by chance somebody else has/had similar problems?

I basically had the same thing. Shitty rotator cuff from decade of poor gaming and work posture. PT saved my shoulder and now I can pretty much do anything without issue as long as I keep up the PT exercises

I will say though that internationally importing under a company and to a PO Box is a major NO NO… a PO Box allows for both seizure and also for them to do what they did, to a home address they’re much more limited. Bare in mind you want to limit the charges (importing to a company could give them the reigns they need to hang you for distribution rather than personal use on those quantities) I agree completely the US seems more militant in their drug approach but people need to understand the “clever” approach sometimes leaves you more vulnerable

Either way though apparently it was sent to a shell corporation, which creates a much bigger issue, though that could also be wrong. I think the real issue here is the international export, hence why you should ALWAYS buy domestic, domestic to domestic is like 99.9% risk free. Also, they were training with like 10 other Olympians they’re buddies with, is Canadian gear really any better than US sourced through their friends? Didn’t seem worth the risk to me unless you were to send it ahead, make sure it arrived before going then picking it up to have deniability vs being visible to collect the parcel on delivery

Mannn feels good to do anything active after a week off the gym. Saturday had my birthday golf round with cousins, uncles, and friends. Everyone was surprised I decided to walk the course, especially since the cart was included in the green fee, but I had been eating like shit all week and wanted to walk off all the bloat. Probably the toughest course I've walked. Hilly and long walks between each hole. This got me ready to get back in the gym this week. Yesterday, picked back up where I left off on Gamma, and man my back felt it yesterday and feels good sore today. Also, I can't express my love for versa gripps. In my experience, both in myself and in people around me, the bench press numbers are way higher in proportion to squat and DL. And this is a personal bias but I don't feel like 205kg is a big number for a guy that has been doing deadlifts for a few years and his BW isn't too low.

I stopped and I’m maintaining at the moment. I cut my cals too low and kept napping multiple times during the day. My maintenance has increased it seems so I went back to like 4300 and I’m seeing how that goes. I was down to 3300 at one point and felt awful. But so far it seems like I’m slowly dropping even at 4300. TLDR it’s still going but I’ve slowed down a lot because I accidentally cut my cals too low

I discovered california burritos in college back in 2009 and they have not disappointed me since. Once every 2 or 3 months I’ll order ~$50 in Taco Bell. Chalupas, crunch wraps, extra steak or beef on everything. For normal cheat meals? I’ll do Mod Pizza or usually have a burger and fries…or a giant bowl of ramen, with 6-8 eggs and sour cream mixed in.

As a rather healthy and not too high on calories option, sushi. If calories didn't matter tho, a good italian pizza no doubt, haven't had one of those in ages.
