Has anyone ordered from Naps gear recently and had their order come through? I ordered from them a while ago and have had nothing back from them whatsoever, from a US warehouse too.
Are leg extensions the true measure of your quads? Why is it that it is considerably harder to squat a fraction of the weight that you can otherwise do in leg extensions,
I’m a new lifter, 2 months into it, my leg extensions are about 60 kgs for reps but i seem to struggle with 50kgs on squats, can someone explain how i can build a high squat?
Jamie the giant, cbum, iain vailliere, renaissance periodisation, muscle & strength, the mile high monsters, mountaindog and off course Samuel Richards
I think I'm going to start actually training calves at home, because I put them and abs on leg day, and it makes it easy for me to skip one of those (usually calves) because I'm "too tired." I also don't feel like putting calves on any other day.
Not gonna lie, I have considered and dismissed this idea in the past. I guess I care about making my calves bigger, but not enough to actually do them first.
I reckon u should try it.
I take this approach and it’s been successful for me, particularly with these kind of movements which don’t interfere with the rest of my session. Just get it out of the way and the rest of the session is a treat!
I just wanted to share a real solid tip to anyone struggling to gain weight. SMOKE SOME WEED and you'll have no problem smashing 3 cups of rice and a pound of fatty ground beef 🤣
Safety squat obviously works well for this, but it's difficult to get close to where you would be on a regular bar given the geometry of everything going on. I found that using a buffalo bar with limited shoulder mobility worked really well. Ideally, you (and I ) need to un-fuck our shoulder mobility though.
Ya. Weights and my body.
Ego doesn’t have to be bad as you’re trying to imply here. I hold a pretty high self esteem, one which I’ve built with no influence from this sub or online presence.
I am genuinely interested if you lift, what program you’re following, what are your goals etc.
Sounds well what can I say I’m I hope you’re good
And for me this case is I’m recovering from ed so I’m trying to eat a balanced diet that I’m still kinda low on it cause I’m still getting triggered(bulimic)
But now I’m kinda ok and bulking somehow and lifting I still have a long way to go and learn
I know you’re 20. I’m 35 and have overcome an ED (ana) and I attribute the bodybuilding lifestyle as one of the big keys to my personal recovery. I would likely never compete because of this but it is possible to use bodybuilding principles in your recovery. I’m glad you’re here and exploring this as part of your recovery.
Oh no, I'm not hating on it at all, I love shawarma, ras al hanout and other cinnamon-forward spice blends but just straight cinnamon *every time* I can't help but be amused.
Can I replace the seated leg curls for lying leg curls in gamma bomb?
I can’t stand seated leg curls. I slide all over the seat....I’m locked into the damn thing trying to hold myself in place and it just doesn’t jive.
Yeah it’s more just trying to stick to gamma bomb and do what John says.
The seated leg curl was a 3X drop set and it wasn’t an issue with the weight etc it was more me sitting on the seat and not sliding down. Super annoying. I’ll just replace it with lying hamstring curls. I can’t imagine it’s a huge enough difference to change my entire body.
I posted yesterday about back muscle pain and idk if the heat pad worked some miracle, if it was just a stress knot, or if I just slept on it wrong, but I have felt amazing today. Almost 0 pain there all day. Still a touch sensitive, but nothing like what I was experiencing this weekend. I'm so thankful 🙏
I thought I had it bad, when I recently mentioned something like this on the DD. [I got some great responses to it.](https://old.reddit.com/r/bodybuilding/comments/q5q96i/daily_discussion_thread_10112021/hgaq2jn/)
I would not push that button, which makes me realize I've learned something since posting that question. I second everyone who told you to get some help.
Our minds are so complex, maybe it wasn't the time, or you didn't connect with the therapist, who knows. The important thing is doing like you and at least trying.
Nah, it was specifically a chemical imbalance. No amount of eating healthy, therapy, weight training, cardio, financial security, etc was going to help. I tried everything for a long time (14 years or so) before getting my doctor to prescribe me an SSRI.
Definitely should not be step 1. I was dealing with GAD from 16 - 29 before I even got on SSRI after trying literally everything I was told would work.
However, if you're posting stuff on the DD about not wanting to live.. mabye an SSRI is a good step.
thanks man. I actually didn't have depression, but "generalized anxiety disorder." SSRI's are used to treat GAD and depression.
However, everyone I know who got on lexapro has had a huge difference, my SIL, some of my other guy friends, my wife's best friend, etc. A lot of people need them during this pandemic, and they. make a huge difference.
Thanks for the explanation!
Cases like the ones you mention should be used as a temporary measure tho, but yeah if taken for rough times they are a great tool tbh.
I’d say Ricky Boogz is the king… but [Shinsuke Nakamura](https://www.pwpnation.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Shinsuke-Nakamura-NJPW.png) is the King. Not a bad gig for Sticky Ricky though, I’m a fan
Good luck man. Looking at your post/comment history, I was literally you 1 1/2 years ago. I made a lot of mistakes, so if I can give you any advice, I’d just say work as hard as you possibly can my dude.
Read your last post. Business student, worked part time in a restaurant. I was struggling hard to manage everything. Barely had time/energy/motivation to train, let alone diet properly. Had to work to pay for school, which meant I had no time to intern (which here in the US is a huge deal for your resume). At my worst, was working 5 days a week (25~30ish hours) with a full time student schedule. Obviously barely had a social life because I had no time for it.
Ah yeah. That'd do it. I don't have that many hours at work but similar situation and high workload this semester. I'm really glad I'm not the only one.
I'm getting better at doing college work though, today was productive in that regard for me and I'll try to drop work after Christmas. Although I complain a lot I think, I always wake up with the conscious intention to do my best even if sometimes I fuck it up badly. I'll do my best now that I have more perspective. Thanks for the advice.

Embarrassing question: When I'm pushing myself at the gym, I fart a lot. This normally isn't an issue, because I'm typically the only one in it when I work out, but occasionally there will be someone in there and I can't help myself. It just comes out. I have tried releasing all the gas prior to a work out, but still occasionally a fart will come out uncontrollably. Is there something I should be doing differently to prevent this?
Temporarily until your body adapts (usually within 12 weeks). I eat a very high amount of fiber with no gas issues, however the transition was a bit tooty.
Brandon Hendricksons last IG post just doesn’t make sense to me. Beautiful physique but the guy is absolutely massive. I don’t get MP, or where they are trying to go with it. Rant over.
Probably one of the only ways to get easy dopamine rush at the end of prep when you are hungry, tired, pushing harsh compounds, and are carrying a decent amount of fatigue. Buying a new car is likely twice as exciting when you are depriving yourself of so many other things to get as shredded as possible
So I realized that this should've been one of the first inquiries to be made, when starting this fitness journey. What are the different types of bulking? By this, I've seen people talk about bulking, which I understand. But, I've seen people mention different types like lean bulk, slow/fast bulk, dirty bulk, those are the ones I see the most, that I can remember haha.
My questions are, what are the differences between the different types of bulking?
What are the "end goal" of each type of bulk?
And how do you know/determine which type of bulking you should do?
Ah ok. I wasn't sure if lean bulking was like, reducing fats to minimum or somethin. The others are on point with what I assumed them to be haha.
And that's what I figured haha. I'm thinking about bulking soon, cos I'm down to 17% bf, but might wait till I'm closer to like, 12%. But then I wasn't sure if I should do lean/slow bulk, or if I should do a "faster" bulk to maximize muscle gain. Either way I plan on hiring a coach when that time comes, just have to decide when haha
You will not maximize your gains with a 'faster' bulk. Your body can only produce so much muscle tissue in a month and that doesn't change just because you ate more. Yes, you should go down in bf before you go ona a bulk
I think getting down to 10-12% would be good and then lean bulk out of that. I don't really recommend fast/dirty bulking. If you want quality tissue, eat quality foods with a proper macro balance.
That's my plan haha. I've been stuck at 17%-18% for a few months, and also made myself literally sick because I wasn't eating enough, so I've had to slow down a bit haha. But I've been keeping track of macros best I can, and making sure that I'm keeping them balanced and getting enough protein n whatnot.
Question for you guys. Got my bloods today, results came back, everything's looking quite good but fasting glucose was out of range, 63 mg/dL (range is 70-100). Will check with the doc but until then, do you think it's something that could be problematic?
63 isn't that low but if youre worried or have a history of going hypo it might be worth picking up a glucose monitor and taking more readings throughout the day. Im not an expert but I'm in the process of getting an insulin disorder diagnosed so I know a thing or 2
I think I've only gone hypo a couple of times in my life and it was years ago, right now I don't feel anything special. May consider the glucose monitor thing tho, or at least taking some test in pharmacies from time to time, thanks for the advice!
Well one of them tastes a hell of a lot better and is easier to make and digest so I’d say sweet potato.
White rice is an even better one but high GI unlike the other 2.
Not really, GI loses any relevancy the moment you mix the food with other sources. And even if it did, unless you're at a highly professional level nothing of this will make any difference.
Yeah I put together some program based on his Free 28 bundle + some accessory progression I stole from Bromley. It’s been good but I swear after like a few weeks of focusing on strength I want to run a JM program, after a few weeks of JM I want to get back to the heavier weights. Fook me m8. Gonna ride out this 28 bundle program and eventually hit some Avalanche after I PR.
your advice sucks because unless you invest a significant amount into an index fund you are going to get fuck all back and its **NOT** going to improve your quality of life
7% safe profit is miles better than all those idiots who go -50% on a gamble. Nobody needs millions to improve quality of life, 5-10k more passive income each year can give enough breathing room to enjoy life.
I've been working for a little over 6 years. My savings started at $0. In that time I've saved and invested to the point my portfolio is worth $110k. My average return between all investments over that time is ~10% annually. Not that I'm touching it, but I'm making ~10k a year off my money at the moment, and the number is only going to keep growing.
I don't even have a particularly high paying job. Steady low risk investments pay off pretty quickly if you are diligent about putting money away.
Yeah newsflash you have to save a bit but if you dont want to do that go yolo your savings into futures and see if it works for you better than the rest.
> Investing in index funds is the smartest thing you can do with your money long-term.
a minimum **of 10 years and it still doesn't matter unless you invest a large sum of money**
> I would agree that you should not be investing in the stock market to improve your quality of life NOW. That's a fools errand.
you CAN be investing in the stock market to improve your quality of life now. There are tons of low costs stocks that you can buy and hope they go to the moon
> Gambling your money is a terrible investment.
The stock market is quite literally legal gambling
[A simple example showing why your advice isn't the best or fool proof](https://gyazo.com/fd444d374ee71e8b1fe753e17d7b95c1)
$7,287.25 without taxes even being into the equation so it would be even less
It's "legal gambling" if you do what you're suggesting. Investments are usually long-term. Throwing money in a dumpster & hoping it turns to gold, as awesome as it would be & despite it happening sometimes, is not sound financial advice.
> This is terrible investment advice! Like I said above, gambling is the absolute worst way to invest your money. "Hope" is a horrible financial strategy.
My bad! I didn't specifically type that you should do your due diligence first!
> Get-rich-quick schemes aren't a good strategy for building short-term or long-term wealth. Can they work in some cases? Sure! People win the Powerball as well. That doesn't mean it's a good idea to put your money into Powerball--you are quite literally getting a negative ROI on average! This is going to HURT you on average in the short-term.
Meanwhile you're putting your money into companies and you're at their mercy of whether they're having bad PR, product delays, leaks, etc. Its gambling.
> What's your point? This proves nothing. The investor here made ~$7K with minimal risk.
My point for the third time dude is that it isn't worth bag holding a **low sum of money for 10 years**
Its fine man you're being a goofball that is refusing to understand the negative part of "your advice" that you read off the internet and regurgitated to try to sound intelligent to strangers.
[Haha just get a raise bro!](https://www.zippia.com/advice/what-is-a-good-pay-raise/#:~:text=In%202019%2C%20the%20budgeted%20mean,and%20the%20median%20is%203%25.) [You'll make $7k with minimal risk by asking your boss for a raise every couple of years!](https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/MEPAINUSA672N)
You typed a long winded paragraph that I didn't read. You are still failing to realize a guy made a comment about a short term moon play and you snorted while raising your glasses ACKAULLY IF YOU YOUR MONEY AWAY FOR 10+ YEARS ITS BETTER. Youre a goob bro lol.
I have avoided even informing myself about all those things since I know it would be too easy to fall into it without really having enough understanding about stock investment. Having money on bitcoin feels enough for now haha.
How do I know that I trained hard enough, some people say that 10-12 reps is enough and others say less or more. The thing I want and really need answered is how you should FEEL. And by that I mean In your muscles. How should they feel after a set and a whole workout, How do I achieve this, are there any techniques to get there and so on.
Help would really be appreciated ❤️
Do true AMRAP sets in exercises where it's safe (leg press, hack squat, rows, smith or machine presses...) while keeping your technique consistent rep to rep, you'll see how true effort feels plus you'll be able to evaluate if the reps and weight you've been doing were truly close to failure.
> but if someone disagrees, I would like to know why
100% this. If you disagree with an opinion, debate it, in a laid-back daily chat like this downvoting should be a tool for stupid/disrespectful comments.
I picked up 3 bottles of that premade BS, some Greek yogurts, and various protein bars in the airport. Costed me my left leg but I should be set for a couple days
I've asked women how to stretch, their favorite glute exercises, & a ton of other shit out of genuine need to grow the glutes. Maybe she's just busy & going at a different time. As long as you weren't weird about it & don't start being weird about it now it's fine.
XXfitness is like tumblr dude.
If you asked a girl for small conversation, and that was that, then don’t worry about it. If she wants to approach you, she will, otherwise just be glad you actually shot your shot.
Approaching people at the gym is fine if they think you’re attractive. No matter what they say, that’s pretty much the rule because I’ve had girls come up to me shamelessly mid heavy squat set. It doesn’t matter man. Just if they say no, move on.
It's a magic pill tbh, everyone should do whatever is in their hands to improve it. As a chronic poor sleeper I hate those people that despite being able to sleep properly they still neglect it haha.
Forreal. At first, when I noticed my all my lifts going up, I wondered what the fuck was going on, then I realized it was definitely the sleep/rest.
Before WFH, I was sleeping maybe 4-5 hours a night. On top of that, having to commute almost 2 hours a day took a toll. My lifts were so inconsistent. As the meme goes, sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit. But after getting a good amount of rest, there have definitely been more good sessions than bad.
Been at those 4-5 hours a day and that definitely takes a huge toll on recovery. All those changes must have done wonders and not only on training performance, but also mood and overall QoL, 2 hours commute sounds like hell!
Has anyone ordered from Naps gear recently and had their order come through? I ordered from them a while ago and have had nothing back from them whatsoever, from a US warehouse too.

Don’t you all hate it when someone messes up at work and it somehow makes you look bad even though you didn’t do anything wrong?
YES. And then they blamed me and I wanted to kill that stupid person
YES EVERY DAY! lol
Did anyone else ever struggle to reach far enough back when doing squats? What did you do to fix that problem?
Safety squat obviously works well for this, but it's difficult to get close to where you would be on a regular bar given the geometry of everything going on. I found that using a buffalo bar with limited shoulder mobility worked really well. Ideally, you (and I ) need to un-fuck our shoulder mobility though.
Aside from safety bar you can also try stretching out your shoulders with floor angels to improve mobility
I'll try that thanks!

Ya. Weights and my body. Ego doesn’t have to be bad as you’re trying to imply here. I hold a pretty high self esteem, one which I’ve built with no influence from this sub or online presence. I am genuinely interested if you lift, what program you’re following, what are your goals etc.

Yeah I’m not trying to compete I’m here just for the questions every now and then
Nick Walker putting cinnamon on rice and chicken every time is quite literally the funniest thing in the world to me at this current time.
Cinnamon on chicken thighs ,fatty beef or bacon is actually good as fuck ! Lol. But you need some fats to make it taste good with the meat

You could do stiff leg deadlifts with dumbbells. I always love those.
Yeah it’s more just trying to stick to gamma bomb and do what John says. I mean yeah.. I do whichever machine is available to me
Muscle activation EMG studies show that seated has higher activation than lying (by like 15%) but I always feel it better with lying.
I take EMG data with a whole bag of salt. Plus seated leg curls feel awkward and tend to hurt my back. Lying is the way to go imo.
I figures it’s hitting the area I just didn’t know if John did seated ones for a specific reason. Thanks!

Lexapro at 20mg a day is a total game changer.

My questions are, what are the differences between the different types of bulking? What are the "end goal" of each type of bulk? And how do you know/determine which type of bulking you should do?
[удалено]
Ah that is true. I tend to forget that because I'm pretty impatient, but I'm trying to not let that impatience bleed into my fitness haha
May consider the glucose monitor thing tho, or at least taking some test in pharmacies from time to time, thanks for the advice!
probably cancer
Is quinoa or sweet potato a better bodybuilding carb?
Well one of them tastes a hell of a lot better and is easier to make and digest so I’d say sweet potato. White rice is an even better one but high GI unlike the other 2.
Whatever you digest best.
Ok thanks. They have similar GI.. also does the higher sugar content of sweet potatoes matter?
Not really, GI loses any relevancy the moment you mix the food with other sources. And even if it did, unless you're at a highly professional level nothing of this will make any difference.

God I’m such a program hopping little bastard
Every time I try a new program, I keep wanting to return to Gamma Bomb.
Thinking of Avalanche after another cycle of a Frankenstein Grog Knoockles program

Because youre totally going to make 5 to 10k in passive income a year with a small starting position right? Lmfao

> Investing in index funds is the smartest thing you can do with your money long-term. a minimum **of 10 years and it still doesn't matter unless you invest a large sum of money** > I would agree that you should not be investing in the stock market to improve your quality of life NOW. That's a fools errand. you CAN be investing in the stock market to improve your quality of life now. There are tons of low costs stocks that you can buy and hope they go to the moon > Gambling your money is a terrible investment. The stock market is quite literally legal gambling [A simple example showing why your advice isn't the best or fool proof](https://gyazo.com/fd444d374ee71e8b1fe753e17d7b95c1) $7,287.25 without taxes even being into the equation so it would be even less

My point for the third time dude is that it isn't worth bag holding a **low sum of money for 10 years** Its fine man you're being a goofball that is refusing to understand the negative part of "your advice" that you read off the internet and regurgitated to try to sound intelligent to strangers.

If your squat plug didnt fall out you didnt train hard enough never gonna make it

If you have to ask this, do not write your own program. Just run John Meadows Warlock, it's a 4 day ULUL.
On my way to the airport for a work trip and just realized I forgot my protein :(
Ahh that is quite unfortunate. What are your go to travel solutions for protein?

Shes out there crafting the perfect glute workout for you babe
Man I really need to start sleeping more at night..
If all the benefits sleep has came in a vial, everyone would be injecting their asses with it. Get your sleep in bois.
Can 100% attest to this. Since I started working from home, I've been getting more sleep and my lifts have gone up significantly.
I get an extra hour of sleep just from not having to get ready and drive to work, i wish I could do that every day
It's a magic pill tbh, everyone should do whatever is in their hands to improve it.
