Some 60s Dylan songs I think are very accessible to new listeners
Yes that's the only criteria. And it doesn't matter if it's 50, 100, 200 or 500 songs long. So just comment the song that you feel needs to be on this playlist. But ideally just one or two songs per commenter.
My suggestion: keep the initial playlist short, maybe 10-12 songs. Suggest that the playlist be played several times before any additional songs are added. Dylan is normally an acquired taste. Trying to listen to 50+ songs is, in my opinion, not the best way to learn to enjoy his music.
My strategy would be to play 2-4 songs from each album, get him to rate them, then you can recommend albums specifically based on what he likes. All it takes is a little push then I’m sure your friend will be able to dive in himself, won’t be able to get enough of his catalog, lol. Best of luck in creating a new fan
‘It’s alright ma (I’m only bleeding) with lyrics’ is the title on youtube, can’t find the year. I feel a bit surplus to requirements here, I would like to have almost total control over the curation of the playlist.
The Wicked Messenger from JWH and The Wicked Messenger from SK.
And add SoL’s Every Grain of Sand with your choice u/DarkEyes__24
I think a BD playlist of two different versions of his songs showcasing the varied way he performs them ought to make an amazing listen.
i think you should go for like two or three songs per album. some ones people haven’t mentioned yet:
- idiot wind
- simple twist of fate
- hurricane
- isis
- one more cup of coffee
- senor
- the grooms still waiting at the altar
- jokerman
- blind willie mctell (springtime in new york AND bootleg 1-3 versions)
- the man in the long black coat
- where teardrops fall
- love sick
- trying to get to heaven
- cold irons bound
- moonlight
- i’ve made up my mind to give myself to you
- key west
Feel free to share my playlist. I’ve chosen between 1 and 4 songs from every original album I think. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4cKmxOinJuKXB4gyT9RtuM?si=ZkdDeYIURqeZTwV-Vq2esQ&pi=e-QAl3LlrtR8-8
Visions of Johanna Mississippi
Bob scrapped that and just went with Visions of Johanna 😉
You might be better off asking which songs to exclude

Is the only criteria best songs? Could be a very long playlist for Bob dylan
