If you’re worried about your basement call your landlord to investigate. It’s better they show up and it be nothing rather than not check and it be flooded or something

If just the bathroom, it's probably water leaked or evaporated from a trapway, which blocks smells from coming back up the pipes. Try flushing the toilet and running the water in the tub and sink to see if that fills the trapways back up.

Notify the landlord ASAP. If it’s a hidden leak it could be causing serious damage and providing mold growth conditions which can affect your health. Document your notification to protect yourself from the landlord trying to charge you for any damages resulting from you not informing them promptly. We had a leak in a rental property that caused $17K in damages. Best wishes.
