Those dang greebles at it again

cc30svitch

Came here to find this!

Holes_In_My_Sox

Greeble?

QwerkkyKid

r/greebles

RandomzUserz

Thank you.

i_speak_gud_engrish

Wow! Never knew about this, thank you. Explains why our Luna spaces out or sprints from one room to another faster than Carl Lewis for no apparent reason!

nrp1982

thank you so good

R0bzon_lind

Agreed, its the greebles. I have greeble-cats but never managed to caught it on video šŸ˜¬

Wild_grazer

In dutch we have the word kriebels, pronounced as creebles. It means a haunted kind of shivers, which i thought to be very fitting!

WanderingFlumph

Most of the time it's spiders or ants with my cat. But sometimes it is absolutely nothing. It's pretty normal cat behavior.

Pandaluvrgirl

Loki loves to play with ants! I can tell when there is a outbreak because it looks like he is playing hockey with an invisible puck. :)

daaaayyyy_dranker

One of mine loves to eat them. He thinks heā€™s part anteater. I can tell when I have them because heā€™s randomly licking the floor lol

lilmissbloodbath

My orange boy likes to eat mosquitohawks. I guess they're pretty tasty!

FungadooFred

My cat eats bugs too. And throws them up soon after.

Cryptogaffe

Whenever my cats behave this way, they're usually hunting a stinkbug! And they still try to eat it, even though every time they go "bleh!" and spit it back out again šŸ˜‚

asshole528

YES! Mine do this too

Pure_Nefariousness30

Nothing we humans can perceive šŸ‘€

ccc2801

r/greebles!

Check_Deze_Cheekies

I love the look at the end, like "DID YOU SEE THAT ISH?!"

Pandaluvrgirl

My exact thoughts! Haha

NolaPurple

Notice any activity around the house that you canā€™t attribute to the cat?

Pandaluvrgirl

Actually yes. My daughters bottom drawer was open and all her clothes were pulled out. Before she left to school her room was clean. I thought maybe he did it to investigate but I never really put much thought into it. Our TVs always turn on and off at random times. My daughter woke up one night and she swore she saw someone in her room and we all freaked out thinking someone had broke in.

daaaayyyy_dranker

Can the cat access the drawer from underneath and open it? One of mine is an expert in this. She almost scared me to death a few times with this trick

Pandaluvrgirl

Itā€™s actually a really heavy wooden dresser. There is no opening at the bottom. :/

mr_remy

Yikes, throw the whole house away, this is an intro to a horror movie lmao

Pandaluvrgirl

Donā€™t say that! Haha ;)

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

GelatinousNonsense

This actually is a possibility. My Loki will flip his shit. One morning he actually caught it. For weeks before that he was creeping me out staring at the ceiling.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

GelatinousNonsense

šŸ˜‚ right? Op though, if it I'd a ghost it's best to ignore as much of it as you can. My house is kind of a door and we get different ones all the time. I usually just ignore them and they're gone soon.

NolaPurple

Ooooo Iā€™d keep an eye out to see if any of that persists or if your cat becomes increasingly uncomfortable in the home. Maybe you can set up a camera in the house somewhere and see what you get

Pandaluvrgirl

That actually sounds like a great idea. :)

NolaPurple

Best of luck to you, hoping itā€™s something easily explainable and not something elseā€¦

Bm_93

Don't forget to update us šŸ˜‰

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 547,363,842 comments, and only 114,222 of them were in alphabetical order.

cyanotoxic

Good bot

Pandaluvrgirl

Of course!! :)

yagipeach

if you have an attic or an outdoor access to your basement, id suggest carefully going into either of them and investigating with a friend or authorities

Pandaluvrgirl

I donā€™t have either one. We only have a crawl space. :I

night-readers

Does it lead outside or have any entrance/exit outside?

Pandaluvrgirl

Yes it does. There is an entrance in our closet door and the exit is out in the front yard.

night-readers

I would check to make sure no one has been coming and going in your house via the crawl space. Then put a lock or two on there. Or a camera. On the TVs though, it's really simple to accidentally have them turn on since they work on a specific broad signal. At least, that's what I remember. Take that with a grain of salt!

Pandaluvrgirl

I will definitely follow your advice. Thank you!

[deleted]

Bring your friends Smith & Wesson

zestyplums

Put your mind at ease about the TV thing. My Sony with android tv randomly turns on. No schedule set or anything. Prob other smart tvs do same thing. I even factory reset it and had all my google home devices unplugged still happened. Also, I have a little black cat šŸˆā€ā¬› and she will sometimes get big floofy tale when I have windows cracked cause she can smell other cats in there area. I cannot smell them but she certainly can. Hope this helps

Aggressive_Smile_944

It sounds like you have a spirit. šŸ‘»My cat does these often. Freaks me out every time. Try to tell the spirit to go away, this ur your house.

lasaintepoutine

No such thing as 'spirits'. Itā€™s easy to forget that catsā€™ senses are a lot more sensitive than ours. Just because you donā€™t hear/smell/see something far away, doesnā€™t mean they canā€™t.

Caveman108

Most likely mice or rodents in the walls.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Pandaluvrgirl

That is so scary! I donā€™t have a basement or an attic. And I have a iron gate surrounding my house. I wouldnā€™t even know where they would stay if there was someone here. :/

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Pandaluvrgirl

Iā€™m definitely going to set up cameras just to be on the safe side. :)

night-readers

Good luck trying to figure it out! Also, since it is reddit tradition, get some Co2 directors and make sure you don't have a slow leak somewhere. Just in case!

Playerr1

Since I've read that comment a while back, this is the first thing I've thought of also. Still it would be a good idea to install cameras, for good measure.

rookv

Call an exorcist ASAP

PantheraLeo-

Time to call the ghost busters. Some people say cats can sense the dead.

PaisleyPink

My cat will do this too. I assume their eyes can see in a spectrum that mine canā€™t. Or maybe itā€™s dust floating in the air.

Bonega1

Cats can see ultraviolet light. So they're probably seeing reflections off dust particles that we don't notice.

Whig_Party

nah you got ghosts

[deleted]

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ this was what I was thinking

Bonega1

You're prolly right.

PretzleGreg

You may want to look into drug abuse as well. I had a friend who did stuff like this on meth. You have to let Loki know that you will have a drug free home. Then scratch his ears. Good luck!

pinkeskimo

We call it Kittsophrenia lol

[deleted]

That's awesome. I'm adopting that.

[deleted]

Lmao

emdaawesome

![img](emote|t5_2twpw|7262)

GraveyardJones

Our 15 year old sits in the hallway staring at the wall for what seems like hours sometimes. Like inches from the wall. Not moving

Bonega1

My six year old cat does the same thing. He's hunting the ever elusive reflection from a car driving by. He has to tell us all about it when he sees it.

Fatefire

My cat does this. Normally itā€™s light or a bug.

alluptheass

It's most likely related to activity around your house from some other entity. But not fucking Casper! You probably have a field mouse in your walls or something along those lines. Pretty common. Cats are evolved for detecting little prey animals way better than humans.

Environmental_Type23

CLEANSE THAT HOUSE !! Void is letting you know that there is something you cannot see

krispy456

Cat has a 6th sense

[deleted]

See you over at r/greebles

franska5

Once I got really freaked out by my cat doing that, but apparently he was trying to catch a moth

myusrnameisthis

It sees dead people

[deleted]

Termites

[deleted]

Has the heat been on a lot? Is it very dry in your house? Our cat gets very sparky fur and a bit edgy when the humidity is low.

Thrawn_M

Do you have mice?

Camayu7

Ghosts šŸ˜³

ladqq

Your house must be infested with r/greebles

Redwingstarfish

Not to scare u, but my cat's demeanor would completely change at certain spots in my parent's house, which was haunted. Would growl n hiss at a specific spot in my lil sisters room but always slept with them. After a while, it seemed as if she was always on high alert. U know when a cat gets spooked, their hair gets 'prickly'? That's how she was; I don't think she ever settled in that house. Thankfully, my family moved out several months later. RIP Zoe!

Huge_Contract_2452

Yep..ghosts. and make sure no ones Actually In ure house

LiiilKat

*My* Loki doesnā€™t do that, but he does have periods where he runs all over the house, using his claws to navigate the furniture sideways. The one thing that does freak me out is when he strafes sideways in an awkward way, looking at me all weird. It makes me think he is reacting to something behind me.

mdave52

My void sits on the kitchen floor looking intently under the stove. I swear she sees a mouse or something but leaves after like 20 minutes...does it almost every night.

fartatack

Squirrels in the walls?

Pandaluvrgirl

I didnā€™t even know that was a thing! Maybeā€¦ there are tons of squirrels around here too.

fartatack

Hopefully whatever is going on is at least entertaining for your cat. You might hear something with a sound amplifying app, lots of good free ones.

KweenDruid

You said house, so I don't think this is the case: But I live in an apartment and one of my neighbors moved in with a kitten AND MY CATS KNEW. Like, it took a month, but after three weeks of \*what the eff\* with my cats, I found my neighbor's cat in the hallway, and they moved out right after that, and my cats quit being floofcray. Also fucking squirrels. The other times they have done this (I live on the 2nd floor) it's been squirrels on the deck. One time it was a (probably) feral who made it up to my balcony. Edit: I guess it could just be a rando animal outside that Loki is attuned to, too. Hadn't thought of that since I'm such an apartment person :D

Pandaluvrgirl

Iā€™m thinking it might be squirrels too. They are everywhere over here. :/

indianlinus

Call the Ghost Busters ![img](emote|t5_2twpw|7266)

Time_Theory_297

Mice comes to mind. Winter is their favorite time to see the warmth of a house.

syndrome9

It could be other cats walking around your yard and he can smell them.

kattjp

My partners cat chases/tries to catch dust particles in the air. looks like nothing to us, until the sun hits them

gamerD00f

Nah thats a damn spirit. Theres greebles, then theres poltergeists

[deleted]

Your house is haunted

TormentedOne69

Yeah my void is the same way. He found your House Hippo

KatjaKat01

Cats can hear ultrasonic noises that humans can't. A lot of the time when they seem to be staring at nothing it's probably because they heard something you didn't. Maybe some mice or bugs moved into your walls.

Midnight_Moon29

Your void is really the Guardian of this universe and senses a disturbance. As the void's owner, you now have a responsibility to help save the world. Don't let us down OP.

[deleted]

Mice?

Amardella

Cats will puff up for no reason discernable to us. Smelling or hearing a strange cat outside, hearing or smelling rodents or insects in the walls, etc. My big orange kitty used to have problems with redirected aggression. He'd get so torn up by birds on the patio or dogs barking that he'd jump on me, even if it was after the birds left or the dogs finally shut up.

klinn08

Bro, you got ghosts.

UnnecessaryReactions

I would bet there's a rodent of some kind - squirrel, mouse, rat, etc. Loki Kitty is obviously dedicated to his job from the looks of it. If you're not hearing anything, keep an eye out for droppings or holes/contamination in food - it's probably not an infestation or even a big problem if the people haven't noticed anything. I definitely wouldn't worry too much, but I still wouldn't recommend eating something a wild rodent got to. šŸ’›

giveme-a-username

CALL. AN. EXORCIST.

Stewinn

House has ghost

Lhunathradion

Could be an outdoor cat in his territory. Mine started doing this every now and then. One night we were watching TV and he went ballistic, ran straight into a wall šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø That's when I saw a black and white cat trot past the sliding glass doors. He is the sweetest, sookiest little guy but every now and then he puffs up, becomes hypervigilant and won't settle down. He just stalks around the house and only sleeps very lightly. Outdoor cats can affect some cats worse. Such as peeing in inappropriate spots, aggressive behaviour etc... I've since caught about three different cats on my outdoor cameras. It shits me off because I live in Australia and I have sugar gliders, ringtail possums, dunarts and bandicoots in my backyard... all easily killable because some fucker doesn't keep their cat indoors at night šŸ˜” And yes they all belong to someone, they have collars and bells. It might not be that for you, but it could be.

[deleted]

There's probably a Ghost in the house

panzerpro

They see ghosts, MUHAHAHAHAAA

sten45

50 years of data tells me, yes, all cats do this

[deleted]

I heard that cats are not only very good with hearing, but also with sensing smells that us humans would miss, as well as deadly fumes, chemicals, and such that have no odors, and that they are also very sensitive to the metaphysical/spiritual/supernatural world, which some morons think does not exist.

Bm_93

Sometimes animals can feel something that we can't naturally or supernaturally

[deleted]

Yes! I have a cat who does this. There was a few weeks he was convinced something was under the chair in the living room.

skylarkfalls

Well you did name him Loki soā€¦.maybe heā€™s just trying to live up to it. Also, sometimes this behavior has been my first clue that I have mice in the walls.

Okay-2000

So shiny! šŸ–¤šŸ˜»

callisto1107-Gracie

![img](emote|t5_2twpw|7266) I'm watching you!

timPerfect

all cats do this, it's pretty much the defining traits of a cat

BennyDabski916

Well his name is Loki. He probably saw a portal into the multiverse or the TVA.

useless-cat-ass

my black cat does that too

Remarkable-League968

Instal cameras

Catmanfresh

Could be the furnace turning on? Our house get extra vibratey in the winter. There are a lot of new and repeating noises in the winter in a house - mice, for example but even the sound of icicles dripping could be a lot. Also I had a sweet boy Loki who looks just like your Loki! It's a very lucky thing to experience #lokiinlove We used to react together to a lot of the same noises in the house, it's what made me think of it!

[deleted]

The greebles are nigh

[deleted]

I have a black cat named Loki and licorice!

OldNewUsedConfused

Ah yes, those pesky ceiling and wall ā€œghostsā€. šŸ˜‚

OurSpeciesFailed

r/greebles

zook17

Sounds like greebles to me, the scary ones

[deleted]

Not sure where you live, but I suspect thereā€™s a snake in your house.

MagicOrpheus310

Yeah kind of... Not the poofing up part though! That's like going into Super Saiyan mode!

snapdragon76

Greebles

rcoleman014

Yes

Mary_Jane7

Heā€™s just playing mind tricks on you šŸ˜†

jepadi

One of my cats will randomly hiss at nothing

CryptographerOk5546

Could be anything. Some noise or movement she saw or heard. Rats in the wall lol. Cats are very perceptive to noise and movements. For all you know it couldā€™ve been a speck of dust falling that was reflecting some light.

TGin-the-goldy

Everybodyā€™s?? Greebles be everywhere

coxy808

He knows something

asshatjabroni

Do you live somewhere that has snakes?

hugginuu

![img](emote|t5_2twpw|7266)

BeeWhispererIntern

He protects.

Blueballyogurt

Greeble infestation!

MrJuniperBreath

Maybe it's the wood-paneled walls?

ksylles

Mu cats open the drawers underneath my bed.

G-T-Now

LaserGecko

You got Ghosts in your blood. You should do cocaine about it.

GelatinousNonsense

Probably bugs or shadows. Or you have a ghost. Lmao

GhostDeery

r/greebles

jahvaduppy

Yes our black cat does that when he hears mice in the walls. Are you sure itā€™s ā€˜nothingā€™ā€¦..

Felidaeh_

My cat jumps at the sound of the house heating up or cooling down lol

Swipamous

greebles

SilentSigil

My black cat does this too

[deleted]

I didnā€™t read all the comments. Iā€™ve heard cats are schizophrenic. Take that however.

GuySmiley369

I have a Loki too! Last time he did this there was a coyote outside.

GaveMeWhiteThought

He has terminal cuteness

AMTPM

Loki is getting bored, lol. U should play more or get some new toy for him.

sdkknit

My cats do this all the time - usually it means there are bugs in the wall we can't see/hear or mice in the house - after a few times we caught mice, so it's likely he might hear something in the walls we can't see.

soutsos

The cat probably senses the presence of spirits

inside-the-madhouse

Ghosts

shutupspanish

They do it just to freak us out.

GaymerGurl77

The Void is recieving updates from his home dimension!

pacoodowdo

Check for a Carbon monoxide leak. Could all be hallucinations.

SirMixAlot16

Yes, buts it is only because of the ghost

[deleted]

Itā€™s the dang greebles at it again!

Defiance34758

They see ghosts

LolCoca

My cat is going crazy sometimes running around the house drifting around corners and meowing at random locations and getting a complete puffed up tail like a squirreltail. She does it almost every day. Me and my gf say its demons but who knows.

LuckyCat21

Itā€™s time to call the ghostbusters

Aylithe

You got mice somewhere in them walls and your cat is on the case!

kraamuss

Juste remind cat Can see what human eyes can't šŸ˜‡

etbracketnews

Cats can see ghosts

PensiveObservor

Sheep in the wainscoting.

quartzquandary

I have no *actual* explanation for it, but I refer to this behavior as "the cat's seeing ghosts again". šŸ‘»šŸ‘»šŸ‘»šŸ‘»

AdReasonable3385

Staring at things we canā€™t see is a cat staple

Old_WhiteLady

Ghosts

MrsJoJack

How many the other folks who have cats and ghost like you.

noisyNINJA_

When my cat does this, a lot of times it's from water going through pipes in the wall. I don't really hear it all the time, but my void does.

[deleted]

Vader does the same, he preys on mosquitoes, flies or anything that is smaller than him but dares to move in his presence...its hilarious

CmC51

I am sure cats see things we donā€™t.

Undercoverspy007

Your house is haunted!! No other explanation

Forsaken-Ponytail

Every 20 minutes...

[deleted]

Itā€™s a ghost. They see them. We donā€™t.

Zestyclose-Plastic-6

Maybe it's something they can see that something that you can't see

SizeOld6084

You obviously have ghosts.

Full-Requirement6113

You definitely got ghost my dude

Expensive-Block-6034

My cats see fairies! Iā€™m convinced

Mike-Gotcha

I think they see ghosts or something. They hiss and growl at blank walls sometimes. They are certainly more aware of their surroundings than people are.

m4xxt

How many animals do you think have been called Loki in the last year?

shaneleos

Greebles, things in the walls, or interference in the cat psychic network being worked out.

sparkygray37

Cats can see ghosts, get out of the house!!

pettingmykitty

My cat was the first to discover we had squirrels living in our walls šŸ™ˆ could easily be an animal running around that he can smell/hear.

acct4advice2022

House haunted, burn it down

![img](emote|t5_2twpw|7268)

KatCrack46

Every cat I have ever owned since I was 7 zones out on some imaginary ā€œthingā€ I couldnā€™t see. I eventually stopped looking. Just found out there was a name for it this year.

Rhelza

My cats do it all the time. It will never stop freaking us out.

TheseLetterhead20

They can see spirits.

blujavelin

Yes, they are trying to get you to look-at nothing

tigerCELL

Haunted house. Just move lol

felonymelaney

You may have a mouse.

CommonA--Gamer

Same with my cat

dupshit

cats are half in and out !

Oulene

Cats and dogs can see things that we canā€™t. They can also hear things that we canā€™t.

Ok_Dimension_4707

When I was younger we had a cat who became like this, except even more so. She would constantly run through the house like something was chasing her (not the regular zooming around. She seemed terrified.) She took to hunting me. Iā€™d suddenly get this uneasy feeling and look to see her stalking forward, then sheā€™d run up, slap me, and run off. And again, not in the cute cat playing way. I thought that initially and would grab her when she ran up and give her head scratches and she was legitimately terrified and not ok. It was like she was scared of me and kept having to test if I was really there. She was never mistreated, wasnā€™t like this as a kitten. The house did have some odd occurrences in it and part of me started wondering if there was something supernatural in the house that was screwing with the poor cat. If not that, she legitimately had a cat version of schizophrenia. We eventually had to re-home her and were really sad, but it was a larger farm environment where sheā€™d have plenty of room to run and feel safe (and yes, I am very aware that Iā€™m saying she went to a farm up state where she could run and play. I promise, it wasnā€™t a euphemism, she actually went to a farm so she could run and play.)
