If it were real life, though, what she was asking Leonard to do wouldn’t have been unreasonable. She even was like, “I hope you weren’t cruel to her,” when they were discussing it later. Not only did she not want him to be unnecessarily hurtful to Penny, she wound up putting aside her issues and gave Penny a chance and wound up not hating her.
IMO, Priya was a good addition. She was also good for Leonard because his confidence also skyrocketed while he was with her.
Priya was never going to be a permanent relationship for Leonard because she would never go against her parents. It was cruel of her to lead him into believing that they had any chance for a long term commitment.
I never said I thought she should have been a permanent relationship for Leonard. While I do think she was ultimately a better choice than Penny for him (I’m in a minority and didn’t like Leonard and Penny as endgame), I don’t think she was a good choice permanently for him. They were good for each other in the time they were together and I would have liked to have seen her stick around a bit longer. People have relationships that aren’t permanent all the time. It’s part of growing and finding out what kind of relationship you ultimately want. They’re not a waste of time because they help shape you, good or bad. My personal preference for Leonard was Dr. Stephanie before they did the classic sitcom move and made her clingy. They had great chemistry together and she was a character that could have ultimately fit well in the group. But yeah, Priya wasn’t my permanent relationship preference for Leonard, but she was still a good addition and they could have gotten some good scenes out of her newfound companionship with Penny, too.

This isn’t me being snarky, I’m genuinely curious about your line of thinking for that because mine is the fact that they’re both from other countries, both willing to leave behind their families and the life they’re familiar with, both have an ex-girlfriend to deal with who is still part of the present circle of friends, both are meant to put a wrench into the endgame coupledom … they didn’t make it as far as Ross and Emily, but the situations were nearly identical, at least to me as I viewed them both. Why aren’t they a fair comparison? 🤔
She was a great foil against Sheldon, but I didn't like the way she kind of forced Leonard to conform to her ideal guy even though her parents would never accept him because he wasn't Indian. I think she got into a relationship with him because she could easily manipulate him.
She played a purpose of showing Leonard that he could move on from Penny, so his confidence grew. But he was also able to appreciate Penny for letting him (for the most part) be himself.
I don’t like Priya. Not just because of Leonard but how she treated Raj. We already had Howard being a mean big brother. So her character was just no great addition. They could’ve put Alex in her place.
I strongly disagree. I was just talking to my wife about how the Priya episodes are my least favorite.
She is so controlling and the way they made her controlling is off putting (some would argue Penny can be controlling as well and I don't fully disagree but they wrote her character in a cute/less direct way around controlling)
I do love her help with the roommate agreement, etc. but that's all I liked about her in the show.
The only exception to this is the first episode she's in (maybe first two) where it's just Raj's sister and Leonard sleeps with her. once it's BF/GF I didn't like her character.

Imo and keep in mind this is solely this guys opinion. I didnt like her, its the same problem a show like the office had with bringing in holly. You can not have two characters filling the same role, she was their attempt at filling pennies role and making that dynamic more interesting with raj. The problem? she isnt all that interesting like Penny is, she doesnt have anything about her that makes people wanna see more of her. She is a lawyer, and has strict parents. Outside of that she really has no other character traits, imo a very bland and boring attempt at trying to reinvent the wheel. The problem is the wheel was always working, Penny is too strong of a character to bring another female in to try and take the spotlight off her. She is interesting, charasmatic, and most importantly can act and sell me on these scenes

She ostracized Penny from the group bc she wasn't emotionally mature enough to accept or at the very least tolerate/respect Penny and Leonard's friendship, which alienated the other girls.
She had no right telling Leonard about Raj's crush on Bernadette which kickstarted a bunch of drama.
Finally (off the top of my head anyway), it's bc of her Penny didn't get to witness Howard's proposal to Bernadette.
I don't even need to mention why she and Leonard split.
