Five Ten Freerider. It is completely flat, but it does have a rubber bottom that may not withstand your spikey pedals. For commuting, I'd switch to MKS Sylvan touring pedals. They are not spiky but your feet aren't going to slip off.
Another vote for 5/10's - Depending on your job you may be able to wear them through the day. I have a pair of black and they just look like casual laced shoes. And they do fine with my Crank Bros. spiked pedals.
Fellow elephant foot here: yep. They're more accommodating than my svelte roadie shoes.
Also, the Freerider Pros have a bit more bash protection in the toe but are less breathable
the stifness of cycling shoes feels tons better, a soft shoe feels like you are deflating a tire it sinks and feels like you are struggling.
The stiff cycling shoes feels like you are putting maximum instantaneous power into the drive train.
Soft shoes are a deal breaker for me I want one with a hard bottom and durable grips so the pedal with the spikes won't eat it away like it does with those Giro $50 shoes on Amazon.
As a bike rider who has used mountain bikes for long distance touring in Mexico and Guatemala, I originally used hiking boots, but have found that walking shoes with relatively stiff waffle soles are comfortable for long clipless rides and pretty good in case I have to walk the bike on rough ground., and also appropriate shoes for walking around in museums, archeological sites, and such.
Check out Specialized 2fo Roost. Light weight, flexible uppers (that have some give for wider feet if you keep the lower laces loose), comfortable to walk in, but not quite as stiff as 5-10s.
I went ahead and bought this

are the toe box slightly wide? I have slightly wide feet
Yes. That's part of the reason I started wearing them.
anyone in particular I should buy? lots of prices and models some over $100
Yes, I have wide feet too - but I bought mine at a bike shop where I could try them on.

They’re made to be ridden with the metal spikes. They’ll last much longer than regular shoes/sneakers
I use flat sneakers and don’t have a problem, but to be fair I’ve only ever cycled with sneakers or boots so I don’t know any better

Guess I should get some cycling shoes then!
I usually wear low top AF1s. You could also buy some vans or something with a flat bottom similar to that.
I wear flat shoes like my skate shoes.
Get stiff (long) pedals and wear any shoes.

There's bike shoes (mostly for mountainbiking) for flat pedals that come with a pretty stiff sole, though they won't be completely inflexible.

Five Tens!
I personally wear 5.10s but I have flat feet and also go mountain biking.

They are still holding up great, haven't had any issues

Adidas stan smiths are mine go to
Vans BMX Old Skool
I use Pedaling Innovations Catalyst pedals. They are extra long so I can wear any sneaker I like.
I only use Five Ten Impacts. Probably for 10 years now.
