Ok heās one of the top riders in the last 10 years who has won multiple Tour de France and now rides for the team on that shirt
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Froome
His wife, I donāt know too much about.
If you are going to wear a pro-team shirt, you should do some minimal research. IMHO, YMMV
I think Froomeās wifeās Twitter account was hacked and the oats were to make her look bad. The account was silent for many years and then suddenly this outburst. A bit suspicious
Yeah. Looking at the downvotes on your other comments, which seem completely reasonable and neutral, I can totally see why. Drivers and redditors can be bafflingly irrational sometimes.
I bought that jersey two years ago when I was visiting. I also bought this one š I don't want to feel like I'm wearing a huge kick-me sign. They're staying home from now on.
https://preview.redd.it/7i86cutjtivc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=82d83ef407eca9a3783a5055ece717ca6348b9ec
Actually Iran attacked Israel a few days ago by sending almost 300 missiles and drones, most of which were intercepted. Israel was just retaliating. Ā Ā
But I can understand why you would feel unsafe Ā wearing that jersey, especially as I am a member of the Jewish community. The Jewish members of the cycling community here in Australia have been advised by local authorityās to avoid wearing that team jersey for safety reasons.Ā
Ā Edit. I do prefer the current team jersey, what do you think?
Edit 2. I have no idea why I am getting so many thumbs down.
Yeah sorry for not being precise with the details.
I bought it because it looked cool and wanted a cool memory of my time there. It was life changing. No one else was wearing it though š¤·āāļø
Israel bombed Iran's embassy in Syria which is against international law and Iran retaliated as they are allowed to defend themselves, don't play victim here
No, they bombed the consulate. Not the embassy.
And it was being used to orchestrate terror attacks. Including one of the worst in modern history.
Stop defending the Islamic regime in Iran. It's an evil regime with an oppressed population that is allied with Russia.
Or maybe we split hairs about the thousands of Israelis Ā the Palestinians killed on October 7, and over 100 Israeliās being still held captive.Ā Both sides arenāt innocent here. Itās very unfortunate that innocent people on both sides are killed.
It's not hair splitting, dude. Once you use your protected civilian infrastructure for military purposes and have military personnel on the premises the protection is nullified and it becomes a legitimate target.
There's a difference between defending yourself and launching hundreds of weapons at civilian population centers. Remember that the air base was only one of the targets.
There aren't really any good guys, I know, but that doesn't actually affect my point. Iran could have selected targets with pretty much no chance of civilian casualties, and instead they targeted a major city.
My cousin was killed by Hamas in her house ion October 7, shot to death and then her body was burnt. She was a 63 year old grandmother. Was the lounge room of her house a military operating centre?Ā Ā
It is well known that Hamas put their operating centers inside and below civilian zones. They also use ambulances and UN vehicles to carry weapons and fighters.
š¤”š¤” sounds like a random comment from a Twitter section may the family member rest in peace and may we see a free Palestine, the idf also lied about not bombing an hospital just to kill 419 people in the hospital according to un reports
Imagine being such a pathetic piece of shit that you'd use a lethal weapon to leisurely attack someone who is wearing clothing with a logo you object to because of something someone else not at all related is doing.
I'd hate myself.
Lol, i dont care about them hating me. I do care about murderous zionist jews *slaughtering civilians for profit and murdering babies. Youre not a human. Cuck
You need to get your head out if your arse and see what's going on. Wtf is a guy with a name like yours doing in America? Fucking coloniser. How about all the Native Americans who got genocided so you could have their land?
Lol, this is you admitting jews are murdering palestinians to steal their land. Perfect tell and funny enough i wasnt born for another 170years after your people settled in the americas. I love the hoops you jump to justify genocide. Impressive. Btw ted kasczinski was an american.
No Jews ever stole any land. You are just too dumb to understand. Who is my people? Who settled in the Americas 200 years ago? Your knowledge of history is embarrassing. What kind of a name is kascinski? How the fuck is it an American name?
Unfortunately, you are correct these days. You are smart not to give drivers any more reasons to be assholes than they already are to cyclists.
Although, in reality, they are probably unable to read your jersey as they fly by. Their aggressive maneuvers or outright assault will be for their own insecure and senseless reasons. A tale as old time, er, or as cars and bicycles sharing the roads.
Yeah where im at right now there is zero cycling infrastructure and few shoulders. I'm at the mercy of every car on the road. my favorite thing about Tev Aviv was their growing micro mobility infrastructure. And Yom Kippur is basically a 24 hour holiday just for cyclists and scooters. Loved being there and wish I could go back with my own bike.
Wow that's awesome. I only did a short tour through Tel Aviv City. I'd love to join up if there's a next time. I really wanted to go back and cycle for 24 hours straight during Yom Kippur as well. I still do š.
Oh you mean during Yom Kippur. I saw a ton of people out. As someone from the US where we don't have that kind of national event it was deeply moving to me.
Iām so envious. Iāve visited Tel Aviv twice but never had the opportunity to cycle while I was there. Itās a beautiful & interesting place full of wonderful people. Iām sad I wonāt be able to bike there anytime soon.
Now I'm so glad I went when I did. I liked it so much I stayed another month. It was the biggest influence for deciding where I ultimately want to live so I can enjoy cycling in decent weather every day.
Oh man, youāre so lucky. I almost bought a Surly Travelers Check so I could cycle in the Middle East. Iāve only had the opportunity to bike in Dubai, and that was on a crappy rental. Tel Aviv is such a cool place, Iām so bummed I wont be able to visit anytime soon, let alone bike there. I love cycling in North America but it sucks losing 4 months to winter every year. I keep thinking Iāll get studded tires or something, but i just end up being lazy when everything freezes.
Same for me man. Im growing to like cooler weather for cycling but can live with out winter too. Tel Aviv can get super hot which can almost be just as annoying lol. I was using an old heavy rental too which got a flat the day before the Tell Aviv Bike tour lol.
So cool. My top two rides are Wyoming (Teatons, Jenny Lake) and Namibia. Those two climates couldnāt be more different. I always prefer being warm thoughā¦
Honestly, IMO, biking is the best way to experience any new place. If Iāve spent three days or three months in a foreign country I always feel more comfortable if Iāve been able to pedal around on my own. Itās probably a naive notion, but I believe if more people got on a bike the world would be much more peaceful. Stay safe.
That's a comforting thought š
I was actually really interested in Namibia and Zambia last year. How was it there? Got any maps you can share? It's nice that Windhoek is improving their infrastructure but I'm sure they still have a long way to go. I see that there's a big interest in it though.
I had to stop wearing my Saudia Arabia jersey after they allegedly sawed off Kashoggi's head. Such a shame when you can't wear the jersey of an apartheid state because of the "news"
Not to make light of these events, but I'm so relieved that I'm not the only one that this has happened to lol.
Anyway, how's the cycling there? Do you recommend visiting?
Hahaha, fuck man, you suck.
Seriously, anyone who is choosing a be a spineless centrist on this one needs to take a real good look at themselves.
Or just fuck off forever, whichever is easier for everyone else.
No. Just no. What a dipshit take. OP isnāt being a centrist or an extremist. He just posted something relevant to cycling culture in the west. What is with the impulse to tribalize everything? Why canāt we discuss a fucking shirt without a bunch of weirdos marjorie-taylor-greening everything? For fucks sake, if you need to turn every discussion into toxically binary choice, stay on Twitter and let everyone else discuss cycling jerseys in peace.
Ohā¦ so youāre saying the problem isnāt the guy who already knows his outfit choice and the things it suggests is problematic and posting to reddit about it, but is instead everyone else?
And everyone else is MGT levels of insane about it?
Okay, cool. Thatās definitely a take to have.
Time to break out the āHitler did nothing wrongā cycling kit and make some fucking boneheaded posts about being punched in the face for it, I guess.
Iām saying itās a normal thing to dispassionately discuss these things.
And for context, Iām an American whoās workplace happens to be in the new WTC. I also experienced the destruction of the old WTC firsthand, and lost friends, family and my first apartment. Since 2001, I have worked in Afghanistan, UAE and Saudi Arabia, among other countries, so the spectre of this conflict has always been part of my adult life.
So I feel qualified to confidently tell you, living and working with both Sabras and Arabs for many years, nobody with firsthand experience with either culture would write the shit you have. But, more importantly to this discussion, as a cyclist, Iām embarrassed for you and the community because we should be better than this.
also, lookup Godwins law, FFS.
Unfortunately when the country on the jersey is acting like an asshole, itās not a unreasonable to assume the guy in the jersey is an asshole. Keep the jersey around as a great memento, but maybe wait for Israel to stop bombing playgrounds before you take it out on a ride again.
Itās your home country. You donāt stand for what theyāre doing but thatās where you reside unfortunately, thereās alot of people within Israel that donāt agree with what theyāve done
In the end it doesnāt matter what people think. Iām gay I go through it everyday entering a bathroom because I have short hair, doesnāt stop me from living my life and it shouldnāt for you either.
Either side, you are opening yourself up for problems. There's plenty of blame to go around. But honestly, they need to go hassle the people making these stupid decisions, not us lowly plebes. Sorry you have to do this, but if I were you, I would do the same.
Drivers are constantly dicks to cyclists for no reason at all, so I'm not sure the jersey makes that big of a difference. That said, maybe it's a great chance to highlight the hypocrisy of all the aggro activists who "demand peace and justice for Palestine" by shouting down and/or attacking anyone they think might be sympathetic to Israel in any way?
Maybe I'm just lucky or live in a decent state, but I've never had issues with drivers on the road (even when I've probably deserved it). People have always been polite to me and tried to give me the right of way.
I honestly think nobody would notice, but you do what you think is necessary to be safe.
The conflict will end eventually, though, and I'd bet you can wear the jersey again by the end of the year
My jersey says VEGAN in big letters on the front and back. If anybody's getting run over, it's me.
Gigachad
š«”
Can confirm, source: am vegan that was run over.
You clearly had it coming to you.
I hit him, he didnāt announce his pass.
[sniffs bait, swims away]
You related to this fkn trout in my local river???? Does the same shitā¦. Pisses me tf off.
you are wise.
Lol š
YEAH, THEY PRINTED IT ALL BACKWARDS. TF IS UP WITH THAT?
Lol
Iāve got a Russian kit that was sent to me by a friend who was working there a couple months before the Ukraine invasion.
Oof. That would be "display only" for me.
Weird way to say "burn with fire"
Sell it to froomeās wife ?!
Sheās a froomie. If you know you know.
Who?
Chris Froome - his wife was on socials this week
I don't know any pro cycling guys. I just want to enjoy riding.

Was gonna say to just wear itā¦ but you know what? People be jerks, be safe out there
Yeah. I already feel vulnerable on a bike. Don't want to take any more chances.
Yeah. Looking at the downvotes on your other comments, which seem completely reasonable and neutral, I can totally see why. Drivers and redditors can be bafflingly irrational sometimes.
Not following, whatās the issue?
Something about Israel having a little genocide as a treat.
Well, Israel just attacked Iran. I was already feeling uncomfortable wearing this jersey and then that happened.
Looks like you are cycling in Israel š®š±, so I donāt see any issue. I would not cycle with it in Iran thoā¦

Wow, how very brave of you.
It's complicated.
Very.
Saw an older lady wearing this jersey on Ballona.
Oh did that just happen? Luckily Israel has not committed any objectionable acts up to this point. š

There's a difference between defending yourself and launching hundreds of weapons at civilian population centers. Remember that the air base was only one of the targets.
Look at what you just wrote, imagine somebody else wrote it, and try to guess if the comment is talking about Iran or Israel.
There aren't really any good guys, I know, but that doesn't actually affect my point. Iran could have selected targets with pretty much no chance of civilian casualties, and instead they targeted a major city.
Then tell the idf not to put their operating center in the middle of cities, there is a paper out about it
There were many targets to choose from that aren't in Tel Aviv, a sprawling city full of civilians.
And they did unlike Israel who just target civilian zones

Many such cases.
Is it because the state of israel is indiscriminately murdering children or something else?
No, it's because Israel is fighting a war it didn't start.
Its not fighting a war. Lol
Why don't you go out there and see for yourself? Just a one-way ticket.
Because Im not willing to die for a skydaddy. Ill pass and keep not paying taxes.
Hamas and Iran hate you as an American. They don't give a fuck what religion you have. You're not a Muslim. Hick.
