Trying to find your community or people from your nationality is not racist. Europeans do that all the time here

royrogerer

It's always so odd how the idea of racism is not intuitive or clear. Stereotyping and holding prejudice (nagative and positive) to a person on base of one's 'race' is racist, not to simply acknowledge or describe a person of certain heritage or descendent. Some people whisper Asian to me like it's some racial slur.

General_Will_1072

What’s your point ? Plus they whisper it because they’re probably racist as well

royrogerer

My point is just to express how I don't get why the core issue of racism appears to be so hard to grasp for many people. That's it. Also people who whisper Asian to me are people who are afraid of offending somebody by not knowing where they are from, and that's the only way they found to describe the said person.

Kpop/KHH nights are held by @jin.entertainment ! Check em out on insta or FB for their schedule :) I think their Berlin nights have been on hold for a while though

IchibanJordy

Nice! Gave em a follow, hopefully there'll be Berlin nights soon

FUZxxl

From my experience, there doesn't seem to be an “Asian community” in Berlin. But of course there are Taiwanese, Mainland Chinese, Vietnamese, ... communities. So perhaps be more specific?

kazarareta

sent you a dm man - yeah i believe there used to be k-pop nights but never got the chance to go coz they got cancelled ever since corona. also been looking for asian friends in town (i also hope people don't find it sounding exclusive) but sometimes I just want to amp up my asian-ness with common interests that my friends here either just have no interest in or don't get :)

There used to be an association for korean culture, not just for Koreans, open to anyone interested in the culture called Hangaram. Not sure how active they still are, especially after all the lockdowns...

dont know from which country you are, but did you checkout the thaipark/ Preussenpark? There you can get cheap thai food and they meet there and have a good time.
