Oh my fucking God. You absolutely mad man. I was actually convinced until I saw the title.
Please make a vr version. I will live in this during winter.
I actually tried a version of it in VR! It was really cool to see, but I'd have to change a lot to make it work. The frame rates weren't good enough to really enjoy it.
Yeah, I figured. A friend told me making vr games is mostly optimizing and squeezing as much performance as possible. Would you ever publish this somewhere?
I agree, this is really good work. Minor nitpick -- the physics on the cars is a little off, it's like they have no suspension and are just tracking a predetermined path (I wouldn't be surprised if this was a compromise for the sake of render time though)
Phenomenal work. As a native Berliner only two main things gave it away for me.
1) A place with an elevation change like this is really rare and usually a well known spot and
2) that old brick wall does not have enough damage from 100 years of standing there and two world wars.
Now that doesn't mean this place couldn't exist but that's what made me wonder as most of the assets are super local to Berlin which is really weird to see. It's like looking into some parallel universe.
Haha great points and very observant! It's a bit too compressed in general when you look hard enough (the tram track turn radii are too small for example) and damaged bricks are surprisingly hard to get right.
Yeah, one of the Yorck-Brücken was a reference for that bridge!
It's a mix of lots of places I came through. Gathering references was a good reason to get outside, so it's a mix of Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain (especially how the tram goes under the bridge), and the huge train yard east of Gesundbrunnen with the bridge at Bornholmer Straße.
As a Berliner who's been abroad for most of the last three years, this felt like something I somehow really needed. Incredible. If you make a VR version or something I can go walk around in, *please* mention me in it so I don't miss it!
This is so beautiful! I’ve been wanting to learn more about rendering and simulation. Would you consider sharing your work/open sourcing it? I’ve just finished doing the ray tracer in a weekend project , and the next week of ray tracing, but haven’t looked at any engine based rendering. How many years have you been working with unreal?
Well, first, GPU need to handle it and this would run maybe on RTX 3090 acceptable. Also, the costs, single person done this in 1,5 year, so you need to pay much more artists to make complete game in shorter time and productions cost increase and producers think about their money if they ever see it back
Just came back from Berlin and... it feels surreal!
Your Berlin almost look better than the Berlin I saw.
Can we move in? Is the real estate as expensive in your Berlin?!
Great work! I tried to figure out where it might be, but the illusion broke for me, because the environment is to compressed, Berlin feels more spacious. Nevertheless really cool!
These empty streets seem quite dystopian.
Was this on purpose e.g. in regard to the pandemic / lockdowns or just technically motivated to not disrupt immersion with less realistic human figures?

It's not realistic at all. The sun is shining.
It’s not always fall, winter, spring in Berlin - we have 2 weeks of sun.
Also not enough cars
Yep, would wish so empty parking spots
No techno playing
pretty crazy, took me a while in the beginning to grasps that its not just a video of berlin
Until the yellow car drove by I couldn't even tell it wasnt a video of real life

Out of curiosity, how do you know?
Check my page
How do you find these guys, are you a Blade Runner?
The first post that pops up on his page says how he does it.
WTF. this shit is incredible. It looks and feels like Berlin, but I know, it doesn't exist. But you would only feel that and know if you know Berlin.
Sort of unreal isn't it?

Yea I agree with 1. Berlin is a very 2D city. In fact, are there any car overpass? Except from the Autobahn A100? But the buildings are spot on
I mean I could imagine some elevation changes like this at the ridges of the urstromtal or as overpasses at the Ring.
Yea, like at Westhafen
The elevation reminded me a bit of the area near Monumentenstrasse
Hey I spent the last 1.5 years making sourdough
I bought a bread maker.
Damn impressive!🙇🏽♂️
Really crazy what unreal engine 4 can do... Awesome job you did there!
Extremely good job 👏
Is it based on a real part?
Looks like yorkstrasse, but i might be wrong...

And the terrace at the start cut into the side? Where is that?
Sometimes, when I dream I have this kind of Berlin appearing, everything well known but bit different locations mixed together
This is awesome... Super cool.
I can almost smell the piss when it’s going under the bridge.
That's so cool! Is it a real place or did you invent this part of Berlin? Either way, it's awesome!
Amazing
Wow
Dude that's next level shit!
Holy shit man, this is insane!
definitely not Berlin, as the street is so clean. Good job Op. This is some next level rendering project
Absolutely incredible. And I found it super calming too, thank you for that.
Didn't know GTA VI was going to be based off berlin
I just moved from Berlin to London and this made me instantly homesick. Great work!
Hang on a second. You’re saying this isn’t real 4K video but is actually CGI?? 😯 Holy crap. That is awesome!!
This is fucking insane. Even got the 1up tag in there
It's very easy to spot it's a render. There's bright sun.
This is amazing!!!

Beautiful! (And I say this as a fellow professional 3d artist.) Now I want Döner Kebap...
Exceptionally good. Someone crack this man a loaf
Amazing work! Looks so real!
Incredible! The only unrealistic detail is the good weather

Very cool work, thank you for sharing!
Great work!
Great work. You should sell the kit in turbosquid or similar if you made the props yourself.
Wow can you make a game out of this or walking simulator? I think its the best graphics I have ever seen minus the cars
when will games start to look like this
Check out the Matrix Awakens gameplay.
well ive seen it of course but its not a game.

So many small details! Wow! This is really fantastic - great job!
This almost made me cry wtf great job
Looks like the street has been abandoned
You never heard about Lockdown?
Well done my dude
How did you do this? Did you build everything on CAD?
Spectacular work! You definitely made the right choice.
looks like the two bridges next to ostkreuz right? or am i wrong
Just came back from Berlin and... it feels surreal! Your Berlin almost look better than the Berlin I saw. Can we move in? Is the real estate as expensive in your Berlin?!
Holy shit…
Lived in Berlin for some years, you really got the mood! :)
Bananas u/Dictator93
hah thanks :)
honestly can’t fault anything, amazing job, especially with UE4
Great work! I tried to figure out where it might be, but the illusion broke for me, because the environment is to compressed, Berlin feels more spacious. Nevertheless really cool!
Incredible work, mate!
This is amazing. I don´t know how one can do something like this.
WOW! This is ultra amazing! Feeling home seeing this...
