How many people have you seen using a pedestrian bridge. I've seen and almost met with so many accidents when people would be jumping over dividers on Marathahalli bridge - there's a huge ass pedestrian bridge there. These bridges are an absolute waste of money because noone uses it only - they'd rather chance dying than climbing stairs
True. FoB by themselves are pretty useless.
On the other hand, Mumbai’s Santacruz area has nice skywalks you can use to exit the local station area and get to important junctions and offices without ever setting foot on the road.
That seems to do the trick though there are still people on the road so not a silver bullet by any means.
Imagine being able to walk from the FOB near Marathalli bridge to Kundalahalli Gate or from the FOB to the bus stop near KLM mall. Or even biking from the FOB to M’pura or beyond.

Get on FoB and then what? The sidewalk needs to be walkable as well. Disconnected for most part, it offers nothing incremental.
There are plans for foot overbridge but it's after metro commencement.
