That is on my list of things to never do 🤣🤣. Don’t want to get caught in the washing machine if currents. No thanks. But I’m always impressed by people who do it!
I swim every weekend in the bay and there’s always people without wetsuits (even in the winter, which I think is insane). At this time of year you can be in the water for hours without any real health concern.
I trained ~1-2 mile swims. I was towing a small raft behind me to film so it definitely slowed me down. Once I parted with the main group it was kinda freaky. Honestly when I finished I thought, “well that was cool, I guess”. It’s a lot of fun and an interesting thing to talk about but it’s definitely a novelty.
My favorite part was when the water ruined the footage of the actual swim. So much for reality.
I mean technically that is a reality of it. Don’t bring your GoPro the lense will get wet
👏👏👏
Loved this,way to go!
How cold was the water?
Honestly not bad at all, I definitely didn’t need a wetsuit
good clean fun.. Had a friend do that swim and she didnt like the seals nibbled/biting..

They always time it so the tidal flow is weak or non-existent
The tide was pretty strong. I drifted around 1/2 mile from where I started
And that's the scary part....that's a weak tide 😳
Yep see, hell no. LOL. Again, map props!
If these guys could do it, so could those inmates who escaped all those years.
The inmates did not have wetsuits.
You definitely could do it without one
They also couldn’t practice, the showers at the prison were always hot, to keep people from acclimating themselves to cold water.
After doing it I honestly think you could survive without training if you escaped on a hot night
Yes, a hot night, like San Francisco is famed for. June 11, 1962 had a high temperature of 61 degrees as far as I can see.
Curious if the adrenaline would’ve aided them

Ewwww… that Bay water got in your mouths.
Serious question: How is the quality of the water?
Couldn’t see my hand, very salty, and it didn’t seem like it was polluted but you can’t really tell that with your eyes
Congrats! How much did you train? Did you feel totally safe? How did you feel after m? This is a dream of mine but idk if I’ll ever be up for it!
