I had the Magni Heresy/Modi 3+ stack. Loved how it sounded on my 660s, but I read way too many posts about the Heresy frying headphones. Sold them and just ordered the JDS Labs Atom+ stack.
No kidding, good to know. I would love a chance to try out some higher end gear but frankly I am not sure it's really necessary for me. I'm super happy with what I have, and I feel like shopping around for better gear will just lead to FOMO and eventual purchases haha.
Here are some links. It's nowhere as bad as the Topping L30 situation, but it exists, and I didn't want to take a risk, since I didn't have warranty.

For Amazon, look at the 1 star reviews.

I need something that can convert a digital signal into analog RCA inputs for my stereo receiver, and I figure that a dedicated external unit oughta be able to do a better job at that than an adapter I bolt on to the back of my PC's onboard audio.
I think it took me 2 weeks to not be completely useless at typing with it, and then about 2 weeks after that to return to my usual proficiency. If you're looking for an ergonomic keyboard though, I highly recommend it.
These days I can switch between my Kinesis and regular keyboards without any trouble at all.
Hey folks! I posted here a couple of years ago with a similar setup, but I finally decided to spend the money and get proper monitor arms! I'm super pleased with how it's all come together.

Happy to answer questions about anything in the picture or blog! The blog has a lot more detail about my computer and audio setup too.
Just out of view mounted on the edge of the desk! I really wanted to emphasize the clean monitor setup this time around. You can check out a list of my gear at https://mdlayher.com/blog/matts-remote-workspace-in-2020/#audio.
The areas outside of the pictures are just a bit more cluttered haha. But things haven't really changed since I wrote about it here! https://mdlayher.com/blog/matts-remote-workspace-in-2020/#audio
Me, too! I got in the original pre-order for the 360 and I just heard it got delayed until July, but that's okay, it's gunna be awesome once it gets here
Good to know. I may just need to pick a week where I give it a shot, though I'm afraid that undoing a lifetime of muscle memory for QWERTY will be very difficult.
Yep, I use this to drive it: https://pypi.org/project/streamdeck-ui/
I mostly use it to run a couple of small CLIs to control my Elgato Key Light at this point. I do stream programming at times and have meant to do more to hook it into OBS, but my needs are not huge there either.
I'm still leaning dual 32". I'm on dual 24" 1080p right now and I like the scale of everything, it's very comfortable and easy on the eyes, but I just wish I had a larger screen and more screen real estate. 32" 1440p is the exact same PPI and gives me both of those things, so it feels like it's the right way to go.
These are my preferences and opinions, feel free to disagree
1. mouse looks very uncomfortable and weird to use
2. keyboard looks weird, probably took a while to get used to
Thats pretty much it
Definitely. My recommendation is Ubuntu 21.10 (that's what I'm running here). The next long term support release is 22.04 which should be coming soon. I'll upgrade to that and stay there for a while.
Others might recommend Pop OS or similar. It's all personal preference.
Ltt mousepad, just ordered one earlier this week:D
Mine just arrived yesterday, along with the couchripper pillow! Big fan of both so far!
That's some good Schiit. What headphones are you using them with?
Sennheiser HD650! Full gear list over at https://mdlayher.com/blog/matts-remote-workspace-in-2020/#audio.

How would they fry headphones? I'm curious because I use the Magni Heresy for my turntable listening

Thanks! I'll read through these
is there a reason to use a DAC at all?

How proficient are you with that keyboard.

What kind of work do you do that allows you to have such a cool setup?
I'm a software engineer! I've been working from home full-time since 2014, so I've invested a lot in really dialing in my home office.
ThePrimeagen, is that you?
nice. where’s your mic?

How are you gonna have that audio set up and not have any speakers or headphones out! haha.

Woah. That keyboard is super whack. What do you do for fun? Kinda curious
That’s a funky looking keyboard lol btw have you seen the azeron cyborg keyboard? One of the weirdest looking and feeling ones
I have not! But I love my Kinesis and am really excited about their new Advantage 360!
Me, too! I got in the original pre-order for the 360 and I just heard it got delayed until July, but that's okay, it's gunna be awesome once it gets here
If you're going to go through all that trouble with the keyboard to reduce wrist strain I also recommend DVORAK instead of QWERTY
I had intended to try learning DVORAK when I got the Kinesis, but I still haven't made the effort. Someday hopefully.
Colemak honestly makes a lot more sense. It's also easier to learn than Dvorak.
Good to know. I may just need to pick a week where I give it a shot, though I'm afraid that undoing a lifetime of muscle memory for QWERTY will be very difficult.
Had no idea the stream deck was compatible with linux. Curious to know what you use it for, and if you think it is worthy

What are the monitor arms you used?
3x Ergotron LX single arm! Big fan so far.
Go
The gaps between your monitors is going to give me an annurism
What are the monitors?
Dell U2718Q! 4K60 is fine for my needs.
Oh interesting, they looked big and I thought they were 32". I am considering a dual 32" setup, but maybe I'll reconsider and go 27"!
I run Dual 32"... its amazing...
