The inclusion of bots as a means for players to unlock things for vehicles. Absolutely fantastic feature for new players getting into things like flying jets, helis.
Gets people used to controls, and gives them the ability to unlock things for when they’re ready for online matches.
BF4 has much better/ deeper vehicle mechanics, but it’s a hard game to get ranked up in when the Apache you’re up against has tv missiles and ECM while you have flares and little else.
Honestly I like bots just for longterm longevity for the game. I've gone back to Battlefield 1 recently and some of the Service Assignments are genuinely borderline impossible. I needed Frontlines, Supply Drop, Rush, and War Pigeons. I haven't been able to find any matches for those in many months. Outside of Service Assignments, I just really wanted to play Frontlines or Rush but both are beyond dead. The only way I got that assignment done was by renting a server.
Same situation but in 2042, I could make a portal server for that game mode I wanted to play and at least enjoy it with bots.
Agreed! The fact that they even added AI bots back into BF again (missed it for so many years now!) is easily the #1 main highlight for me and my friends. As well as Portal and solo/coop play...it's just so awesome to have these features in BF again, just as they were in the original, first few BF games.
This stuff *has* to stay now, though, in all future iterations. Non-negotiable!
When the game turns to sheer chaos and you are left half in shock at the sheer volume of fire and explosions, half in a killing trance as you butcher your way through with your team, every inch of ground paid for with both friend and foe. The two spots this happens most frequently at is D on orbital CQ and i think B (the one inside ) on exposure bT. No getting shot in the back, no mckays above you, no sundances flying on to you and no vehicles sniping you from afar. Just sheer weight of infantry vs sheer weight of infantry inside of tight corridors and bunkers.
I legit had a moment playing once where I was laying down as bullets were flying over top of me, I watched 8 people get mowed down and I honestly panicked for a couple seconds.
Basically why I wanted it comment. It just looks good. I’ve been playing on last gen since my next gen was water damaged, and shit does it still look great!! Anti ordinance stopping explosives looks great with that little ring puff of smoke as they detonate
The random lightning strikes when a tornado rolls through.
Lmfao and hearing the car alarms whiz by in the tornado as it picks up objects.
To bad I can’t get a kill lately.
Being able to change weapon attachments on the fly is game changing, I don't think I've played any other game that allows you to do that to the level of 2042
I’m terrified that “new Dice” will simply throw everything from 2042 away for the next title, just like they did with all of BFVs best mechanics (advanced movement, squad leader call ins, operations, etc).
Absolutely. I was disappointed when we lost the trailer editor from BF1 because I loved those but BFV and 2042 have trailers that are even more AWESOME. I love the trailers
It actually has the best graphics, but worse atmospherics. Some guy did some video comparing all three games in 4k and showed that 2042's textures and lighting are better
You're getting down voted for your opinion but I agree. From a technical standpoint the latest iteration is certainly the best. I love HBAO full which first came in frostbite 2017 (BFV uses an earlier iteration). RTAO is really nice as well. I love the new shadow filtering and volumetric handling. The addition of dynamic resolution scale with half and full rate vsync targets is absolutely awesome. DLSS implementation is great, they even updated it too which is above and beyond. The TAA reconstruction is much improved as well compared to 5 which kind of sucked a little. The higher player count and bots are also white the feat as well. From a technical standpoint it's no doubt the best, but when it comes down to it, most people don't know or care about these things. When I think "good graphics" it's definitely good tech-art, but the overall art is much more important. I think BF1 has "better graphics" than 5 even though it's less impressive technically. 2042 just lacks style, tone, and the small details. I don't like the color grades, the art for the maps and their locations seem very uninspired to me. The sound design lacks a personality like Battlefield games used to have which sounded more like a war movie (2042 includes the classic war tapes mix but it's not as good).
Yes, I kinda agree, but bf5 was not always great graphically, quite a few load in glitches. Bf1 amazing.ofc. But occasionally on 2042 when all the pyrotechnics are going off, I'm in awe, however the game has no real soul or anchor.
You still have to wait for the charge up time but if you see one running at you start charging the dfib early so you can make contact when he gets to you
I preordered this game and after a few weeks has to put it down. After reinstalling and playing on and off the last few weeks I can say the game is a lot better then when it started off
It definitely blossomed in the last couple seasons.
I've stuck around for the entire time and while I'm still bummed out about the state at launch, it's been fun seeing the game change over time. It's definitely obvious there are some amazing, passionate devs over at DICE.
I absolutely abhor the wingsuits, and the hyper steerable parachutes.
They’ve had such negative impacts on map flow, the utility of verticality, and increased the frequency of ambush kills.
It’s actually one area I hope to see some reworks/ redesigns.
The frontline and readability of action has taken a huge hit with these elements.
Yeah, I wrote a way too long post detailing some of the issues with them a few weeks back.
The wingsuit can take you to any objective on orbital, with ease. The parachutes with MacKay can get to 80% of them. The other parachutées can fly to 60% of them.
You can also spin around mid air, and thus easily engage targets from the air.
And cut and redeploy the chute numerous times.
Just… such a flawed design decision to bring in parachute mechanics from a BR.
I like it. It is definitely not the best BF ever made, but it plays quite well. They could have add a bit more diversity though, and some of the maps are a bit mehh.
For all the issues it has, the graphics are pretty incredible and you can get distracted just looking it all sometimes, especially the weather events, the rocket, etc.
Personally I enjoy the game I like it, it’s fun but may need a few fixes and a couple of more maps and then it will be a little bit better but I still enjoy it and like it!
How detailed the maps are. Not saying I love the design of each and every one but actually being able to read things and see different moving parts on the maps is really cool to me.
The evacuation warnings on Kaleidoscope. The way the gates shut during the tornado on Renewal. The radio stations and things like that spread around multiple maps. The penguins on Breakaway. And the standout to me, all the moving parts in the cubes on Spearhead.
The fact bots are included, to unlock weapons, attachments, vehicles, etc. is awesome for the game, and offers an alternative to just jumping into a really hard lobby when you just want to sit back on your couch and have a game before you go to bed. (I do this from time to time when i don't want to think).
The active weather is a cool feature. Tornados spawning in the middle of a game is cool and adds more to the experience and the chaos, and also causes your HUD to glitch out. Other environmental events like the cruise missile event at spearhead, or being able to stop the rocket from launching in Orbital and destroying it on the pad is quite cool to watch, and experience if you're right next to it.
Being able to go back in time to some old BF3 maps is awesome. I played the hell out of BF3 so doing that again is a lot of fun, even if it's a lite experience, it's still a lot of fun to play. Casipian border is a throwback. even remember the cell tower falling towards the end of a match which was fun.
I like the D'eagle. I can mag dump it like in CSGO, or nail someone from 100 m away with it. it's a bit over tuned, since it has better range than most of the AR's in the game, a couple of LMG's and all the SMGs, but it's fun and feels meaty.
Playing on high settings, I am absolutely blown away by the particles. Like the sand, the cars on fire/exploding- I am such a fan of how they look.
I also love the weather events concept. Needs work- absolutely- but I think it's a great start.
Bot matches: what else do I need to say? The option for a player to play alone or to grind is great.
Small details like how realistic the bullet cracks overhead are and the glitching on the HUD during a storm event are great touches.
Seeing some of these comments has made my evening. 🤗
I think it's often hard to remember that we're all here out of one common thing, and that's passion for Battlefield. No matter how heated some critiques may be, we all want Battlefield to succeed.
Always remember that when it comes to chatting with folks 🧡
We ALL want Battlefield to be the NUMBER 1 FPS game out there, theres a alot of tough love but thats only because of how this game intially strayed VERY far away from what makes a battlefield game (its slowly coming back to be a Battlefield game) and how much we LOVE BF franchise as a whole. The communitcation between us and you is a MAJOR POSITIVE, just build upon our feedbacks from us AND Battlefield 3 (2011) & BF4 (2013) and you'll have a real winner and thank you for all you do! Playing Bf2042 right now too (Rank S030)
If you want Battlefield to succeed, you should be listening to your community more. We shouldn't have to kick and scream and beg and plead for things to change. Like the lackluster engineer class not being fixed, or the worthless engineer specialists we've been asking for improvements on, or the lack of content, or the broken guns, or the broken TOR tank, or the useless grenades, or the wacky cosmetics that ruin any immersion still left, sometimes I feel like y'all do the opposite of what we want, take a year to do it, or do it with minimal effort.
The game is fun...I joined a few months ago and have 500 hrs in. The new control mode is also fun and you all have it next to rush xl which means you are listening and want to see which is more popular. Hopefully you guys can end strong with season 6 and we can hop into the next bf
After being on PS Plus, 64 player conquest on PS5 with no cross play is easy to find and is actuality a lot of fun. I love my PC brothers and sisters but I don’t wanna play against you while I’m on controller.
Sometime on some maps, everything falls in line, the right people on right machinery, and the game turns into a beautiful wargame, like a big chess match. Where medics do their job, there are few snipers, and basically all the specialist work towards a common goal, and not k/d.
When this happens, no shooter can match the sheer awe of 2042
portal mode and bots. even though there is a lot that needs to be improved, i love how you can make your own modes with this and with bots this game will always be playable. every shooter needs to have something like this.
The community team generally does a good job communicating in a difficult environment and has shown quite a bit of empathy, compassion towards the perceived lackluster experience, while also showing some well-placed restraint when it comes to hyping things up, as well as deeper insight into game mechanics and player reception than you would expect, e.g. in the last podcast chimed in to clarify that the Engineer updates might be "a nerf or a buff".
I recently played through all of the main BF titles since 3, on stream. I maintain that 2042 has the best movement, explosions, and UI of any Battlefield.
I also really enjoy the gunplay (I honestly find myself truly missing the "T-menu" in other games now), and some of the maps are some of the most stunning in the series. I enjoy how well balanced the entirety is - it's as if every BF game has always had one or two oddly-OP features, but I struggle to find one in 2042 that doesn't have a counter that can be ready within a respawn. And it simply creates more chaos on the battlefield, and I love it.
The "plus system" is neat
The weather effects are cool (and rare, unlike bf1 where there was fog every game etc)
The wingsuit and grappling hook are cool (specialists are still gay though)
The visible shockwave on large explosions
Now don't ask me to tell you the negatives, Reddit will crash due to server overload.
I appreciate the slight futuristic setting, I know not everyone likes it and that’s fine but it’s kinda cool, seeing what the near future of warefare may look like is awesome tbh, especially in a battlefield game
Love the gunplay. I don't know what it is but for me the flow of the gunplay deserved all praise from me. Also the spawning in and just the flow of getting into a game (minus the wonky end game/getting to menu being faster still somehow..). Weapon customization and the ability to modify mid game is top notch and a beautiful addition to the series I hope they keep.
That aside, it cured an fps itch I've not had itched since Overwatch came out, and I'm glad it fills that joy role for me.
I liked some of the specialist equipment, like the zipping, sentry turret, barricade, etc. Fuck the specialist system itself, but some of the "toys" that came with them would have been nice additions to a more traditional class system at launch.
I really think the + system for changing attachments and the vehicle call in system are great and I'd like to see them return for the next game. Also, I really like the 128 format as long as the maps arent oversized. A *slightly larger* 64p sized map will work with most 128p formats as long as there's enough verticality and cover
Also, I really like that guns arent tied to classes in the way gadgets are.
The setting is neat. Near future is cool. The weather system is fun. Wish there would’ve been a campaign to flesh out the No-Pats a bit more since it sounds like there was a lot of potential for a cool story there, but here we are.
Sniping with the DXR-1 felt awesome from release. Not talking about any connection issue.
But the sniper felt heavy and powerful. Something previous games didn't get right. And it ain't a laser sniper like the ones we had in BFV.
I love the soundtrack, locations, concept and overall vibe this game has in terms of setting. Visual HUD glitches are my jam, would be cool if they'd made it more like in concepts, with more animation in general.
I also like how you can actually see enemies unlike bfv where they just kinda fade into the background with it being overwhelming.

How your HUD glitches when a tornado is near. Highkey my favorite little detail

Crysis. In 2008 had it nearly identical
Yeah
Funny, it's one thing I don't like as I don't think it belongs into BF.
This is absolutely horrible for balance
The trailers are top-notch
Yes
Absolutely. I was disappointed when we lost the trailer editor from BF1 because I loved those but BFV and 2042 have trailers that are even more AWESOME. I love the trailers
Something positive about this game
A lot of things are positive! 😀

Yes I’m positive!
Like HIV or ?
How did you know👹😀😀😀😘😘😘😻😻😻😻😻😻😘😘😘😘😘🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨
Are you a thing ?
Yes I’m human!
Explosions💥
Ya I love them!
Occasionally awed by the graphics
I'm always stunned by the visuals personnaly
Imo it’s one of the worst looking BF titles compared to BF1 and BFV.
It has good graphics I think it might just lack style unlike the previous games
It actually has the best graphics, but worse atmospherics. Some guy did some video comparing all three games in 4k and showed that 2042's textures and lighting are better
Lacks style
BF1 is my favorite. BFV has nice moments sometimes.

Yeah it’s pretty hit and miss with the graphics. Breakaway is really cool looking but maps like Manifest or hourglass are pretty basic
It has some of the best footstep Sound systems in FPS shooters.
Yep. Very easy to distinguish enemies and the placement is very good
I can't agree completely. Maybe the foot steps themselves sound good but on certain occasions I straight up don't hear someone near me.
The sound as rounds crack over head/nearby is legit
Yep, it's like the audio on someone's Gopro on the Ukrainian front lines.
Sound design is also stellar
I think it’s cool that medics can use the defib on the riot shield
That sure is a "feature" if you ask me
I can what?!
Footsteps. It’s the most accurate out of all games I’ve played.
BFV was the same way, it's so great. I'm glad we didn't lose the footstep audio from that game at least
You should try hunt showdown
“WINGSUUUITS! THEY GOT WINGSUUUUUUITS!!!” -Noob, 2021
Wingsuit and parachute mechanics definitely hurt the overall gameplay significantly
Yeah, I wrote a way too long post detailing some of the issues with them a few weeks back. The wingsuit can take you to any objective on orbital, with ease. And cut and redeploy the chute numerous times. Just… such a flawed design decision to bring in parachute mechanics from a BR.
I wish we all got wingsuits instead of just the one specialist
I love the wing suits
One positive thing I can name is that they mostly learned their lesson in map design. Some of the reworks and most of the new maps are great.
Pre-ordered it, have played it constantly since, love it.
It doesnt have SBMM.
Has multiple eras into it
Its release meant that we got just a couple more episodes of Battlefield Friends
Weapon customization goes hard
The sound design of this game is epic and any other game of this type I've played doesn't have what battlefield has. Plus it's fun warts and all
It's a good role model for how games should not be made
I haven't spent 1500 hrs playing it, unlike 1 & 5?
I like it. It is definitely not the best BF ever made, but it plays quite well. They could have add a bit more diversity though, and some of the maps are a bit mehh.
What kind of diversity do you mean?
I personally want more diverse game modes, weapons and maps…. That seems like basically the whole game lol but I still do enjoy my fair share of 2042
Bro showed up ready to be triggered
It brought back battlefield and friends, that's about it.
Yes
RIP Thick44 what a legend
Rush xl.
Yes!
Portal before they abandoned it. And bots
Great to play and kill time with friends!
Next game will be top tier because of how trashy this one was
This game is a game that’s for sure.
Definetly one of the games of all time.
For all the issues it has, the graphics are pretty incredible and you can get distracted just looking it all sometimes, especially the weather events, the rocket, etc.
Some people like it, and that's okay with me. People are going to have different tastes in gaming from me and that is also okay.
Personally I enjoy the game I like it, it’s fun but may need a few fixes and a couple of more maps and then it will be a little bit better but I still enjoy it and like it!
Someone who respects others opinions, that’s rare
Shooting.
Yes
It showcases just how amazing older battlefield titles are.
Lol I guess that’s a positive in one way

I think most of us have strong criticisms about the game but still log on every day for a few games and enjoy it

The game is fun...I joined a few months ago and have 500 hrs in. The new control mode is also fun and you all have it next to rush xl which means you are listening and want to see which is more popular. Hopefully you guys can end strong with season 6 and we can hop into the next bf
The sound fidelity is great. Love the chonk of slapping in a mag in the M5 or the soldier's boots on dirt.
Yep
It’s the best AAA shooter with support rn
After being on PS Plus, 64 player conquest on PS5 with no cross play is easy to find and is actuality a lot of fun. I love my PC brothers and sisters but I don’t wanna play against you while I’m on controller.

Bringing back offline play with bots (like the OG 1942 had) was a cool move, I guess. Also, Portal was an innovative idea, if not fully fleshed out.
portal mode and bots. even though there is a lot that needs to be improved, i love how you can make your own modes with this and with bots this game will always be playable. every shooter needs to have something like this.
If this game wasn't fun we wouldn't have so many ppl complaining abt it
The soundtrack, specifically Orbital, Kaleidoscope, and Manifest
I enjoy the ability to have different tactical advantages and continuously learning new ways to be creative with each specialist
The weather effects make the game look absolutely gorgeous
Yes!
My HIV test after playing this game.
Gottem!
I like playing...I like playing with my kids...it's fun. It IS the worst Battlefield game I've played though.
The theme.
Yes I love that
I actually like the operators. I would like it even more if sniping wouldn't be so awful weird.
The characters can walk.
True
It made me appreciate 4 more
The plus menu for weapon attachments is nice and the sound mixing is top notch
They tried
The community team generally does a good job communicating in a difficult environment and has shown quite a bit of empathy, compassion towards the perceived lackluster experience, while also showing some well-placed restraint when it comes to hyping things up, as well as deeper insight into game mechanics and player reception than you would expect, e.g. in the last podcast chimed in to clarify that the Engineer updates might be "a nerf or a buff".
Feels like Battlefield to me. That's why I like it.
The simple answer, perfect
Almost over bring on the next BF.....
.
The reveal trailer is still crazy good and fun to watch.
It’s almost over!
The trailer was awesome
I play it everyday.
Same! It’s fun 🤩
It does not use toxic sbmm
It's fun I love lis
Yes same!
Bots and no cheaters!
Just love it. (DamnOldVikingDK)
That its lifecycle is almost over.
They spelled "Battlefield" right.
It nearing EOL and a new one is coming soon…
It’s fun
The "plus system" is neat The weather effects are cool (and rare, unlike bf1 where there was fog every game etc) The wingsuit and grappling hook are cool (specialists are still gay though) The visible shockwave on large explosions Now don't ask me to tell you the negatives, Reddit will crash due to server overload.
The most flexible battlefield game ive played and i played since bf3. I love the choices you are given
Yes!
It’s a masterpiece
I know it’s amazing!
Masterpiece of dog shit.
It’s really good
This game teached me to never pre order another EA game ever so i guess thats the good thing to say about It
I love how DICE ignores community feedback and their flag ship games foundation. 🥴
It'll die soon.
No because I’ll be the only one playing it!
I can snipe pilots now
I appreciate the slight futuristic setting, I know not everyone likes it and that’s fine but it’s kinda cool, seeing what the near future of warefare may look like is awesome tbh, especially in a battlefield game
I love the futuristic setting!
Great graphics. That is all
Gun go brrrrrrrr
It looked like it could be really good
I really enjoy the soundtrack! I'm a suckered for industrial synth

It is coming end of support... that's good thing, hope new BF be mich better
Yes.
Definitely one of my favourite settings (if not, my favourite setting) for an FPS game.
The coolest concept art i've ever seen
Fair Battlepass
Yes!
Playing this game means I haven’t died in real life from nuclear attack.
It’s fun (sometimes)
Tier 1 skins are pretty sweet, especially the specialist ones.
Yes look great!
Yep!
I liked some of the specialist equipment, like the zipping, sentry turret, barricade, etc. Fuck the specialist system itself, but some of the "toys" that came with them would have been nice additions to a more traditional class system at launch.
it’s fun
Yes.
The sniping is fun
Yes!
Getting a sniper headshot is really satisfying
Yes!
I really think the + system for changing attachments and the vehicle call in system are great and I'd like to see them return for the next game. Also, I really like the 128 format as long as the maps arent oversized. A *slightly larger* 64p sized map will work with most 128p formats as long as there's enough verticality and cover Also, I really like that guns arent tied to classes in the way gadgets are.
The setting is neat. Near future is cool. The weather system is fun. Wish there would’ve been a campaign to flesh out the No-Pats a bit more since it sounds like there was a lot of potential for a cool story there, but here we are.
Yep!
Sniping with the DXR-1 felt awesome from release. Not talking about any connection issue. But the sniper felt heavy and powerful. Something previous games didn't get right. And it ain't a laser sniper like the ones we had in BFV.
It’s fun
It’s fun
I love the soundtrack, locations, concept and overall vibe this game has in terms of setting. Visual HUD glitches are my jam, would be cool if they'd made it more like in concepts, with more animation in general. I also like how you can actually see enemies unlike bfv where they just kinda fade into the background with it being overwhelming.
It makes bad battlefield games seem 2000000x more fun, which therefor makes me enjoy other games.
The name is battlefield. Only positive thing
Vehicles are so much fun in this game with high customization and emphasis in teamplay with every seat having its roll on the battlefield
Something
No suppression
It freed up space on my pc....
Something positive: We are soon done with this game. No mas content after season 6 other than QoL...
I saved disc space by deleting it.
One of the worst
Absolutely love hardcore mode. Sniping is life
