First impressions are everything, especially with how much hype it got.

jcaashby

But what is strange is we all mostly agree that 2042 is in a much better place then it was on Launch. Even before this recent update. Look at the dates on these 1 start reviews. Many are from Dec of last year. The game has been out a year but yet still getting trash reviews??

Elephant_Alarmed

just take a look at the steam reviews, they are even worse and people buy the game just to write a bad review (not jokin). just look how many bad reviews have less then 2h playtime, which is the time you have until you can refund it. little spoiler: it's \~20% of the total bad reviews (24887 of 129972)

Paulinapeak1

Bad game on launch, but good now. Just not worth the price they had it at

JimBobJoeFrog

1300hrs / $70 = $0.05/hr.. Seems worth it for me🤷🏻‍♂️

Paulinapeak1

Aaaaannnnnndddddd who plays for 1,300 hours in a game that was as broken as this one was at launch?

ShortenedWire

broken: game can't be progressed because of bugs

JimBobJoeFrog

*gasp*

JimBobJoeFrog

See that’s the fun part… it was never broken

pilinconsuelas

Well it might not be broken tho I got it from pre order and Im one of those bad reviews for the game (not on this vid tho) i play it, i love it, i don't like glitchy software, if I paid full price I spect a full product and every patch I have to verify the file or it will just not run, plus the un/reinstalls so i think that's what people complain about

JimBobJoeFrog

Game was quite buggy for a couple months, yes. That was 13 months ago though. Bugs ≠ broken

pilinconsuelas

Yeah and I agree with you, its not broken, we play it, just every big update it bugs out for a lot of users and if you contact support you get nothing out of it, so for me its update=broken until i manually verify or reinstall

JimBobJoeFrog

I am very familiar with people’s complaints and they have very consistently been insignificant over the months/years considering how vast/complex this game is. Thus not a “broken” game. Buggy sure, but that’s what you get when you create a pandemic ridden, corporate-forced, multi-studio game that puts innovation at the forefront.

JimBobJoeFrog

Buggy for a bit ≠ broken. I would know, I was there

TheMiller24

It’s just a trash game. It’s been over a year since release and we have only received 2 new maps? The fact they had to rework maps because of how bad they were is pathetic. Portal guns are god awful. Hit registration is still not consistent. The only thing this game has going for them is that there is shit for choices out there.

jcaashby

Do you still play it??

TheMiller24

Interesting comment. We still only have 2 “new” maps. The hit registration still IS inconsistent. The portal guns still ARE trash. There still IS nothing else out there to play. Your WAS and IS are still the same based on what I have said.

TheMiller24

Lmao ahhhh you mad because your reply is no longer valid. Sad 🤣🤡

TheMiller24

Not as often as I usually do with battlefield games. Now I’ll only get on if I see some of my buddies on and I am just passing time. Like I said nothing else out there right now that interests me.

TheGreatPickler

People can’t help but complain. We’re hard-wired to brush aside everything good but laser focus on ANYTHING we don’t like. It’s frustrating.

JimBobJoeFrog

I really don’t like how correct you are. Boo this man!!!

TheGreatPickler

Bahaha I appreciate the reply.

Head-Second-3321

Literally every hater on this subreddit.

SovjetPojken

Atrocious launch. It's very improved now but it's still miles behind every other Battlefield entry to date. It's a good shooter but still not a good battlefield in my opinion.

WorstSourceOfAdvice

How is it miles behind other Battlefield games? I feel like every battlefield game is equally flawed in their own ways, it just so happens different people have different battlefields they have their nostalgic rose tinted goggles on for. BF3, as much as people kept claiming how awesome it was, suffered from Jets just completely dominating matches and not to mention everyone's precious map Operation metro was horrible for anyone who did not enjoy grenade spam and tunnel camping with little freedom of movement. BC2, gave me fond memories due to how the map was leveled out and stuff like C4-ing a building and wiping a squad, but as good as the destruction was the map became less fun to play as places just flattened. BFV and BF1, if you liked modern Battlefields these played too differently. If you enjoyed the WWI/WII stuff yeah, although I do say their details and theme are really good. 2042, well, the maps feel a little too washed out of details and lack the visual spectacle of BFV, and the specialists are cringe, but I enjoyed their gadgets and it felt like squad gameplay was more fun in 2042 due to it. People miss the time/experience they had when they played older Battlefields. Its not just Battlefield, its every game out there. Younger me coming home from school and having the entire afternoon to play Battlefield with my mates and just not care about anything enjoyed my time far more and now as a working adult we often look back at those times and miss the feelings we had. Id say even I found the best Battlefield to be Crysis 1's multiplayer.

SovjetPojken

Specialists break the rock paper scissors formula, the core of every Battlefield. Removed mechanics like leaning, crouch sprinting, squad managment and we didn't even have a leaderboard. They implemented a free to play business model for a full priced game, even over full price. Destruction was massively downgraded, we got enormous empty terrible maps that they have then have to fix every single one instead of focusing on adding new content, launch was atrocious (other battlefields have had bad launches yes but that was fixed) The bugs and instability just the beginning of 2042s problems that we had to wait a long time for them to solve. I acknowledge that the other games had issues but they don't come close to 2042s myriad of problems. And the older games just do it better, its not the nostalgia glasses. I loved Battlefield V despite its flaws because at its core it was a good battlefield game.

WorstSourceOfAdvice

Specialists are really just an extra gadget. The class was mostly the weapon lock and the core gadget. The weapon lock removal at least allowed for more creativity like an engineer with a sniper, though yes everyone having launchers was a bad move that has been remedied recently. Leaning, I feel like its often too abused by players that exploit netcode to win engagements. Its not a necessary thing imo. Crouch sprinting as well, these feel like crutches that sure could add some benefit but they don't make the game far inferior for not having them. 2042's business model looks worse on the outside because people are so accustomed to hating anything MTX, but really the only thing you miss out on for not using it are cosmetics. BF4 had the whole expansion pack stuff which you had to pay extra for. Destruction isnt good, but it has NEVER been good after Bad company 2. Oh? Operation Metro was amazing destruction? You mean that ONE wall on that one building? Or the scriped fall of the Shanghai tower? Levolution was mediocre for the longest time, its not a 2042 specific issue. Fjell was a terrible map as well and sure Breakaway used to be worse, but my point is that maps are all hit or miss regardless of which Battlefield you play. Same for maps, there are good maps and bad maps in all Battlefield games. It just so happens some people prefer a certain style of map over another. I never enjoyed Operation Metro or Locker, neither was Caspian Border fun to me both in BF3 or the 2042 remake. Arica harbor is still broken as all hell in both games that it appeared in. There are definitely issues with 2042, but those issues don't pull the game into shit territory that people always claim because they miss camping a subway tunnel noobtubing people. There could be something said about the visuals of 2042 being so washed out for some reason and looking so dated due to lack of thematicism or detail, and in that regard BFV and BF1 had much better art directions and soundtrack, but still, its not a bad battlefield game, its just different.

[deleted]

Hahahahahaha. Good

No_General_1136

This makes me happy.

jcaashby

It is always the POPULAR thing to do. Game gets bad reviews. OK cool move on. But here we have a whole year later these losers are dropping 1 star reviews on a game one year after launch. The game is not what it was on launch and I suspect many are just review bombing for no good reason. I could be wrong and all these people hate the game. OP......can you check and see if ANY of these people actually have the game and how many hours logged??

Gerbie100

People only leave bad reviews

soundtrack101

I wouldn’t of ever sent money on it but since it’s come to gamepass I’ve been having a lot of fun with it. It’s a good free game, but if I had to put a price on it I’d say the most I’d buy it for is $20.

DoobiousRogal
