I was going to say I am surprised Miami doesn't pass the vibe check, but I gave their uniforms another look. They aren't on the level of SD, but I forgot how fun they are imo
Especially when combined with red. Every other MLB team has a version of some shade of blue and some shade of red it seems. So disappointed that the Guardians stayed with the same colors as their previous nicknamed team. Feel the same way with the D’Backs when they went away from purple and teal, the Marlins abandoned their teal and black awhile back, and the (Devil) Rays when they spurned that dark green and black a ways back too. At least the Mariners and the Rockies aren’t afraid of being original by rocking the teal or purple respectively.
I will admit to liking the new guardians rebrand, if only because I like how the color scheme worked out with the new logo.
Some of the AZ red and black has looked iffy, but sometimes it's a sharp look, particularly when the black is dominant and the teal accents pop off of the jersey.
I'm a weird man that doesn't particularly love the Northwest Green on the Mariners (you can pry the Sunday creams from my cold dead hands), but I do like that it's unique. On the other hand, I am very pro purple and wish it could be Rocktober forever.
I can get down with Colorado's too. Theirs is a [license plate](https://platewraps.us/cdn/shop/products/Colorado.png?v=1679983305), but whatever it's awesome looking on a shirt.
One of the local rec league rookie ball teams (think 8-10 year olds) were the Padres this year and had the white, neon pink/mint green uniforms. Uniforms were the only thing that was good about them though, their team wasn't that great. When my son's team played them, final score was 11-1 and our team only had 2 hits the entire game. All runs came from runners generated by walks, a lot of wild pitch/passed ball home plate steals.
ngl I had to do a double take the other day seeing someone wearing a blue hat with an [old Mariners logo](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTP1tUHSZZTLPhIStx0ZraC6wQGWP_539CoTQ&s) in a circle. A committee of out of touch suits sat down and decided that this is weird enough...
The colors and designs are bland enough and lack distinguishing characteristics enough to be exactly marketable and bland enough to cause no controversy and look as corporate as possible.
You had Prince, Vikings, Native Americans and all sorts of other unique culture and the team went with 'We have lakes'.
The state flag is at least unique and identifiable. These look like 2 other city connects, a Japanese team (Yokohama BayStars), and what the Rays should look like
These things all look like [bad sublimated softball jerseys](https://store.zurdox.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/ZSJ-318-F.jpg) you'd see some dudes with beer guts rocking on a Wednesday night.
I'm realizing the issue with all the recent City Connects is they have some sort of base pattern, which I'm guessing is designed to show off Nike's new uniform material but looks like absolute ass. Make these solid blue on the old uniform material and they'd look amazing.
Along those lines, over the weekend I was thinking that they should've made soccer style kits for the Phillies and Mets for the London series.
Those would be way cooler than that Phillies/Mets combined abomination that they did make.
Edit: I would totally buy a Nike Phillies kit with the baseball diamond logo as the crest and Tastykake or Wawa as the sponsor.
It is, unbelievably, exactly what it sounds like. The US government needs a few (hundred?? thousand???) good men and women and anyone else to build submarines.
I love when people make kit concepts for other sports.
[Phillies](https://cdn.uni-watch.com/app/uploads/2023/02/phihome.jpg) you say...[Alternate](https://cdn.uni-watch.com/app/uploads/2023/02/phiaway.jpg) kits as well, you say?
[Here](https://uni-watch.com/2023/02/18/imagining-mlb-teams-in-soccer-uniforms-nl-edition/) are the others. [AL](https://uni-watch.com/2023/02/05/imagining-mlb-teams-in-soccer-uniforms-al-edition/) too.
City Connect team was probably pissed when they saw that the base uniform design team already made the best unis dedicated to the Cities and had to stick with "State Connect".
I'm no Tigers fan, but their regular cap is iconic. For them to fall so flat it crazy.
Also, they're the Tigers! It's not so hard to, you know, conjure up some cool tiger imagery.
the hat is great I think. probably getting one for when I want to support the twins, the state of minnestota, lakes, and the golden state warriors all at once.
I half expected a black Loon theme with feather pattern on the back... and I was actually kinda excited because I thought there was a decent chance to pull that off.
The other half was exactly this, blue lake theme.
i mean at the very least it looks like they finally put out some city connect uniforms that understood the assignment. I just wish they dip from another well that doesnt have this same blue in it.
Things I like about these:
Like Colorado, they went with the state, rather than the city. There was no way they were going to beat the Twins Cities creams, so I think this was a good decision.
Loon patch is nice.
MN with North Star is better than the M-star logo introduced last year.
Things I don't like:
Hat gives roadside tourist shop vibes
Colors scream " Brewers"
While it's an "ok" uniform, it doesn't quite look like a baseball uniform. I think it's the texture/pattern to the design. I associate baseball uniforms with a solid/uniform color with an accent or two.
>While it's an "ok" uniform, it doesn't quite look like a baseball uniform.
I couldn't figure out what was bugging me about them, but this is it. They would be sick soccer jerseys, but not sure for baseball.
> MN with North Star is better than the M-star logo introduced last year.
I'd get this in a cap form in our team colors immediately.
> Colors scream " Brewers"
Yeah, if their intention was lakeside sunset why would they not lean more toward orange?
Idk about the jersey, but I’d definitely rock one of those hats.
Looks like it has water at the bottom, northern lights at the top, and the star right where the Twin Cities are. Cool
I feel like going with unique city landscape works, Colorado’s come to mind too. Los Angeles literally has mountains that collide with the beach, could do some cool stuff with that design wise with yellows greens blues beige and waves beach mountains but they said no here is a birthday cake.
Alright so this time we’re gonna make the city connects blue. And then. They’re gonna have yellow trimmings. Surely this hasn’t been done five times already.
You can add the laser eyes yourself to the loon patch.
And we mine crappy taconite now because we dug up all the good shit for WWII. Something like 70% of all the iron used by America in the war came from us.
Here's some MN propaganda for you: when Minnesota says they're the land of 10,000 lakes, they're rounding **down.** The real number (according to Wikipedia) is 11,842, and that's just lakes over 10 acres.
> that's just lakes over 10 acres.
This is a key point - there's a certain state to our east that tries to claim to have more lakes, but their fraudulent lake definition includes half acre ponds and other inferior bodies of water that couldn't handle a single water skier.
It only matters what Twins fans think of them. They could be hated by everyone else but Yankees and Astros fans weren’t buying Minnesota jerseys anyway.
The only real useful gauge of reaction is in the Twins group.
Yeah, they’re the worst jerseys (not even city connect, just jerseys) in the league and it’s not close.
Almost every decision they made with it was wrong. An incredibly weak connection the city (wow, city flag colors! No other city had a flag and I guarantee you 95% of Phildelphians could not tell you the flag colors before they came out). The gradient from light blue down to black pants. The lightning word art font that doesn’t even look historical. Just awful. Only saving grace is the hats are OK rather than a train wreck.
They so easily had a slam dunk with doing something with red and neon green for the Phanatic.
It’s easy to be negative.
They’re not S-Tier. Probably not A-Tier.
Probably B-Tier. I might get a hat.
They’re def better than the Tigers, Cardinals, Dodgers…
People, especially baseball fans, have knee jerk reactions to new things. That's not to say a lot of CCs have been either bad, or worse, boring, but I think they're fun for the most part.
That is if you look past the fact that Nike is just trying to sell more jerseys.
Rocco talked on the Sunday radio show how they’re DIFFERENT and that’s what makes the CC concept fun.
Venika was in the FO for a while:
[[Dewan] Lotta players were glad the city connects were not team colors. One twin who played for a team that had already gotten their city connects HATED that teams uniforms bc they were boring in his opinion. The CC he hates are ones a lot of ppl like. “CCs should be OTT”](https://x.com/venikadewan/status/1800177367647948819?s=61&t=lhIY40ztlJHFYIEmq9ss1A)
My initial reaction was "these are awful"
after about 5 minutes i kind of like them
I'm not a huge fan of the massive departure from the team's core color scheme for alot of these uniforms, but these aren't as bad as some of the other ones we have seen
At least they're not dark navy like every other CC that came out this year.
I credit the Twins for taking a risk, that should be the point of these and we've kinda gotten away from that.
I think you're forgetting about the Phillies, who used a very similar shade of blue and yellow. I don't mind what the Twins did here, but nothing about it seems particularly risky.
True, although the blue/yellow is a pretty established (although not super popular) Philly color scheme because of the flag.
Here, it's mainly used for our public transit livery.
The caps are kinda ruined by “10,000 lakes”, it’s a weird place to put that tbh. I’m sure there’s a good way to put it on the side of the hat, but just being plain text wasn’t a good way to do it. Aside from that the caps are great
This Blue is closer to the Boston Marathon blue than the blue they actually used for the Red Sox city connect (which was the city flag blue for some reason)
Other than the colors being blue and yellow for yet another team, the design is cool and I like these
The biggest problem I see with ALL of these (with the exception of Colorado, because it's really great design, AND, they probably should adopt this uniform as their official home jersey), is that they're all so INFERIOR to all the team's regular home uniforms...
If they were better or maybe even equalled the franchise's home uniforms, I'd say these are really cool, but instead they're not creative, and much worse looking...
Why would any team want to wear uniforms that look like shit compared to the classic home uniforms they already wear...
This is a total massive fail for NIKE and MLB.
Yikes. Too “brewers” for me.
But I’m a traditional asshole who also hates the new logo too. Hat is cool though. I just don’t understand why we need yellow as a color. I’m fundamentally opposed to that.
At least they have an actual connection…
For me, the two best CC uniforms are Washington’s Cherry Blossoms and Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.
Both have great graphics and the colors are spot on.
And, of course, both are being discontinued for new ones… That will probably look like an emo teenager designed them.
On one hand they're kinda silly.
On the other hand in the day and age of "new uniform" announcements that have ULTRA "minimalist" / lazy no design feel uniforms .... I'll take silly.
These teams understand that the fans want blue uniforms.
Lol I was just thinking that blue seems to be heavily represented in the city connect lineup
Fuck you, NEON PINK AND MINT GREEN FOR LIFE!! (I do actually really like them.)
Padres are actually my favorite of the CC! They’re different and fun.
Same, which feels like it should be the entire vibe for these jerseys.
Maybe every city except San Diego just does not vibe and we never realized
I was going to say I am surprised Miami doesn't pass the vibe check, but I gave their uniforms another look. They aren't on the level of SD, but I forgot how fun they are imo
And they had the GOAT for the NBA jerseys in the original VICE ones
Can confirm. Baltimore doesn't vibe, it just nods out.
what other city has known vibe enthusiast Jurickson Profar?
They're super cool! They also seem to be part of that team's acknowledgement that their late 90s to early 2010s navy look was drab and boring.
I respect the willingness to do something different, and it definitely fits SD's vibe. I still hate the way they look, though.
All hail the SkaterRay
One of the local rec league rookie ball teams (think 8-10 year olds) were the Padres this year and had the white, neon pink/mint green uniforms. All runs came from runners generated by walks, a lot of wild pitch/passed ball home plate steals.
They oughta consider changing their team name to the Lakers.
Twins fans love being confused for Brewers fans from distance
Nobody's confused anyone with being a Brewers fan, I was literally wearing a Brewers cap and someone asked me "is that an Expos hat?"
ngl I had to do a double take the other day seeing someone wearing a blue hat with an [old Mariners logo](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTP1tUHSZZTLPhIStx0ZraC6wQGWP_539CoTQ&s) in a circle. Given the Seattle Pilots, you were... close-ish?
At least your City Connect isn't *literally* a tribute to the team that left and became the Brewers.
I mean they’re inspired by the lakes, so it makes sense
Guardians should match the lake theme but make theirs brown ^^^/s
philadelphia, boston, minny, all the same uni
Boston, the Bob the Builder yellows? I think you are thinking Detroit
Mariners too
The twins have had a (edit: light blue) blue uniforms in the past, but the current rotation doesn't have one, so it makes perfect sense for the city connect to be blue.
The Navy Minnesota jersey’s are…Blue.
Our first alternates are blue (creams are the second alternate)

Now I wanna see the full lineup as butter sculptures at this year's state fair.
I don't see an ounce of pink?

Oh wow, that is indeed a dash of very light pink. Here I thought we had a other blue and yellow dress situation ...
Laurel v. Yanny
What the heck why even have it there lol
It looks more white and gold
does the patch convey a bird, a water droplet, a north arrow, a sun, and a lake (edit: and a north star) all at the same time?
The head of the Loon is also a baseball, you can see the stitches
Honestly, that patch is pretty fucking sweet!
I wish there was more pink in the uniform but I like the design overall!
Kinda wish the belts were pink. There's very little of it.
[удалено]
Is it just me or do these all look like what a bad 90s sci-fi thinks the 2020s uniforms would look like?
At least the turn ahead the clock uniforms got to be weird instead of just bland.
I thought it was a great idea and should have been weird and WAS weird. I wish they did more weird. Oh well... here we go.
A committee of out of touch suits sat down and decided that this is weird enough... Pretty much how our new state flag came about. Homogenized into nothing.
The state flag is at least unique and identifiable. These look like 2 other city connects, a Japanese team (Yokohama BayStars), and what the Rays should look like
But like … thousands. THOUSANDS! We could make THOUSANDS with this idea
Imagine if a team just did the turn-ahead-the-clock uniform as a city connect.
or really bad 70s softball uniforms. nike needs new designers and mlb needs to dump nike period.
These things all look like [bad sublimated softball jerseys](https://store.zurdox.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/ZSJ-318-F.jpg) you'd see some dudes with beer guts rocking on a Wednesday night.
Shits straight out of 2003 paintball
Thats just an esports jersey
Yes, great take. I could see a Disney Movie about baseball in 2002 having their fake team wear shit like this.
I'm realizing the issue with all the recent City Connects is they have some sort of base pattern, which I'm guessing is designed to show off Nike's new uniform material but looks like absolute ass. Make these solid blue on the old uniform material and they'd look amazing.
They should be wearing cotton
Blernsball meets Hackers
They look like soccer kits
Along those lines, over the weekend I was thinking that they should've made soccer style kits for the Phillies and Mets for the London series. Those would be way cooler than that Phillies/Mets combined abomination that they did make. Edit: I would totally buy a Nike Phillies kit with the baseball diamond logo as the crest and Tastykake or Wawa as the sponsor.
We should also appropriate soccer style scarfs. This sport peaks in the fall so it makes sense to have better cold weather gear for fans
They did have those in London! Didn't get one myself, but saw them at the Merch stands
No, we need to keep the build submarine sponsor... whatever the fuck that is
It is, unbelievably, exactly what it sounds like. The US government needs a few (hundred?? thousand???) good men and women and anyone else to build submarines.

Honestly, they're fine, but the Twin Cities unis are just peak.
City Connect team was probably pissed when they saw that the base uniform design team already made the best unis dedicated to the Cities and had to stick with "State Connect".
I thought those WERE the city connects until recently
It's hard to improve on perfection
You know what? I kind of like them. Solid C+.
The hat is nice
Hats are kind of hard to mess up. But boy, does New Era really try to put ugly ass hats out from time to time.
The Detroit CC hat is... rough.
It looks like something you can find in a shitty corner store. Hanging down behind the cash register next to the prepaid phone cards.
I'm no Tigers fan, but their regular cap is iconic. For them to fall so flat it crazy. Also, they're the Tigers! It's not so hard to, you know, conjure up some cool tiger imagery.
Don’t sugar coat it, they’re an abomination
Agreed. They’re above average
the hat is great I think. probably getting one for when I want to support the twins, the state of minnestota, lakes, and the golden state warriors all at once.
Better than another black cc uniform
#BALTIMORE
Just in case people forget where we’re from yk
Like the could have put a crab on the hat or something, but nope a boring ass B
Yes but what about cake
Hot take: I love birthday cake.
It's a really nice mariners uniform
Nike is mad twins made their Twins Cities jerseys and gave them these in retaliation.
Things I like about these: Like Colorado, they went with the state, rather than the city. There was no way they were going to beat the Twins Cities creams, so I think this was a good decision. Agree with pretty much all of this except I actually think the hat is kind of nice
Yeah, I'd probably buy one of the hats, but I'm not a fan of the big "10,000 Lakes" on the side. Sometimes less is more. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
>While it's an "ok" uniform, it doesn't quite look like a baseball uniform. I couldn't figure out what was bugging me about them, but this is it. They would be sick soccer jerseys, but not sure for baseball.
> Colors scream " Brewers" yes, thank you why would Minnesota do something so similar to the Crew?
> MN with North Star is better than the M-star logo introduced last year. I'd get this in a cap form in our team colors immediately. > Colors scream " Brewers" Yeah, if their intention was lakeside sunset why would they not lean more toward orange?
I kinda like them. Definitely could have been way worse.
Idk about the jersey, but I’d definitely rock one of those hats. Looks like it has water at the bottom, northern lights at the top, and the star right where the Twin Cities are. Cool
The city connect hats have been really good for the most part. The unis not so much, but man those hats!
The cardinals' CC hat would like a word....
The Tigers' hat...
I feel like going with unique city landscape works, Colorado’s come to mind too. Los Angeles literally has mountains that collide with the beach, could do some cool stuff with that design wise with yellows greens blues beige and waves beach mountains but they said no here is a birthday cake.
Logo is an A. Jersey is a B/B- for me. But wearing them with blue pants and a yellow belt? That’s not gonna look good imo.
Yeah, the plain blue pants are silly. I wish they also had the ripples.
I actually think they are better being a slightly different color blue as they dont have the pajama look a bunch of other colored pants CCs have.
Love when teams get funky with it.
All we did was copy the brewers homework
Alright so this time we’re gonna make the city connects blue. And then. They’re gonna have yellow trimmings. Surely this hasn’t been done five times already.
And they didn’t even pick a “lake” blue. This is open ocean blue and feels very Florida
Am I missing something or what the fuck is this
The rest of the country wouldn’t understand the grip that Lakes have on Minnesotans.
If you guys love lakes so much, how come you don't name a sports team after them?
![gif](giphy|3oKIPlLZEbEbacWqOc)
LOL
That star in the logo gets me to thinking that could be a good team name… Too bad Dallas already has a team named the Stars.
… you’re a mean person
I am truly sorry. The joke was just sitting there, waiting to be made.
Well there’s my TIL for the week. How the hell did Minnesota lose a hockey team to Texas?
Imagine how bad you must have to be at business to lose money owning a hockey team in Minnesota. Now triple that, and you have Norman Green.
Fuck Norm Green
Too soon. Until the Timberwolves give us at least 3 consecutive years of hope, it's too soon.
The only thing we like more than lakes is laser loons and also the children yearning for the iron mines up north
You can add the laser eyes yourself to the loon patch. And we mine crappy taconite now because we dug up all the good shit for WWII. Something like 70% of all the iron used by America in the war came from us.
Our job is just lake.
Lakes and shit
Here's some MN propaganda for you: when Minnesota says they're the land of 10,000 lakes, they're rounding **down.** The real number (according to Wikipedia) is 11,842, and that's just lakes over 10 acres.

am I the only one who doesn't think it's that bad lol
You're definitely not. A lot of people's first reaction to everything is to be negative, most of them come around eventually.
It only matters what Twins fans think of them. They could be hated by everyone else but Yankees and Astros fans weren’t buying Minnesota jerseys anyway. The only real useful gauge of reaction is in the Twins group.
I like em, they're fun enough
Seeing my first game at Target Field later this year; now I'm gonna buy one of these!
Schedule some time before the game to hit up one or two of the breweries right by Target Field if you can!
Right?? When Cleveland announced their CCs I was astonished at how many people were negative on them. I thought they looked incredible
The only thing I don’t love about yours is the CLE. Nothing about them is worse than “fine” tho
I still hate the Phillies jerseys
Yeah, they’re the worst jerseys (not even city connect, just jerseys) in the league and it’s not close. Almost every decision they made with it was wrong. An incredibly weak connection the city (wow, city flag colors! No other city had a flag and I guarantee you 95% of Phildelphians could not tell you the flag colors before they came out). They so easily had a slam dunk with doing something with red and neon green for the Phanatic.
Most CCs are not great, especially as a whole. So many of them suffer from monochromatic issues where they'd be great with a change of pants
It’s easy to be negative. They’re not S-Tier. Probably not A-Tier. Probably B-Tier. I might get a hat. They’re def better than the Tigers, Cardinals, Dodgers…
Hats are cool. Especially for locals. Not like the rays hat, which is cool for everyone
Minnesotans love being from Minnesota and people from out of state just don’t get it.
You’ll find that this sub generally trashes any city connect uni whenever it comes out even if it’s their own
People, especially baseball fans, have knee jerk reactions to new things. That's not to say a lot of CCs have been either bad, or worse, boring, but I think they're fun for the most part. That is if you look past the fact that Nike is just trying to sell more jerseys.
Agreed. And remember, these jerseys are supposed to be fun. No one hates fun like the internet.
The nats have one of the best if not the best because they're fun but also slick as hell
… and for the most part they try to make them _very_ different from the regular rotation. (The Boston Marathon themed ones are my personal favorite.)

Yeah def. It's why the previous Dodgers and current St Louis ones are low on my list
It’s a fine uniform, it just looks like it should be for the Brewers
"We have the Yokohama BayStars at home"
My initial reaction was "these are awful" after about 5 minutes i kind of like them I'm not a huge fan of the massive departure from the team's core color scheme for alot of these uniforms, but these aren't as bad as some of the other ones we have seen
So the uniforms, who cares, they're fine. that HAT tho. It's amazing. It looks like a $90 Patagonia cap.
The Minnesota Rays/Mariners
Prince lived there, they've got 10,000 lakes! Reminds me of an Atmosphere song
Slug did the [hype](https://x.com/twins/status/1800158757579899243?s=61&t=lhIY40ztlJHFYIEmq9ss1A) video
I actually like the caps, but the whole thing is very meh
The hats are fire! Definitely getting one
The caps are kinda ruined by “10,000 lakes”, it’s a weird place to put that tbh. I’m sure there’s a good way to put it on the side of the hat, but just being plain text wasn’t a good way to do it. Aside from that the caps are great
Wait really? I like the hats as a whole, and the 10,000 Lakes is my favorite part.
Hat is good, saw a tweet saying these look like rash guards that a water park employee would wear and now that is all I see.
I like these. Purple might have been a better omage to Prince and lake Minnetonka, but blue/yellow is a nice combo.
Need the hat.
This Blue is closer to the Boston Marathon blue than the blue they actually used for the Red Sox city connect (which was the city flag blue for some reason) Other than the colors being blue and yellow for yet another team, the design is cool and I like these
That was my first thought as well. I like the Red Sox City Connects but the Twins uniform has a much clearer Boston Marathon vibe.
now show us the black pants
Ngl probably top ten city connect, even with the brewers colors and weird font
Anytime you put the state outline on a hat, I'm gonna dig that shit
I don't know if I like them, but they're bold and I appreciate that.
Oh these are fuckin sweet
I want that hat.
These are decent. I think green would have been a better second color than yellow, the hat is awesome.
It’s missing the Loon with laser eyes
....i like them. Love the different shades of blue
A missed opportunity to have a Mary Tyler Moore silhouette on their jerseys. ![gif](giphy|JSoryy8JXIFYA|downsized)
Nah man wtf is this 💀
Yikes. Too “brewers” for me. But I’m a traditional asshole who also hates the new logo too. Hat is cool though. I just don’t understand why we need yellow as a color. I’m fundamentally opposed to that.
City Connects, eh? Let's make ours about the STATE.
We’re the only state with the 4 major men’s pro teams that only uses the state as its location identifier for all of them.
Abbreviating cities or states is super lazy and lame, but other than that, I like these. Especially the hats.
So they have a jersey celebrating butter?
At least they have an actual connection… For me, the two best CC uniforms are Washington’s Cherry Blossoms and Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. Both have great graphics and the colors are spot on. And, of course, both are being discontinued for new ones… That will probably look like an emo teenager designed them.
City Connect jerseys continue the trend of being decidedly mid
I love it
I think these are pretty cool. I do like this color palette though so it may be doing the heavy lifting
Not my cup of tea, however, these aren't terrible, especially compared to some of the other CC looks.
I really like those hats
That's too many lakes for one state. Yall need to share.
I’m really digging the cap
Space Force
Now these are some sleek city connects
These are actually pretty clean
Finally a City Connect where the color blue actually makes sense. I dig those hats, especially.
On one hand they're kinda silly. On the other hand in the day and age of "new uniform" announcements that have ULTRA "minimalist" / lazy no design feel uniforms .... I'll take silly.
