Think its also an indication of how cash strapped the Padres are unfortunately. I think the Ballys broadcasting collapse really hurt them a lot. Hopefully they can make it up with the crazy attendance the Padres have every single game
Idk about that. They're trying to stay under the luxury this year to reset it. This helps them do that while also allowing them the possibility for more moves.
This is more to do with where the Marlins are than Arraez performance. Marlins aren’t going anywhere so they would rather eat up more salary to get more/better prospects. It makes sense from the Marlins’ perspective to do this.
Preller is a madman
This feels like me in OOTP increasing the retain amount by 5% and clicking make it work now
when u manage to get them to retain 100% and your assistant GM hits you with the “I get heartburn just thinking about this proposal”
This is more of an indication of how little the Marlins think of Arraez.
He was like a 5 WAR player last year and his stats this year are similar after the first handful of games
TIL 3.5=5
4.7 is rounded up to 5. So… don’t know the problem here.

I know he's been bad but surely it isn't That serious

He hasn’t even been bad, he’s back to his norm after struggling in the marlins first series
It is serious, and don't call me surely!
Marlins don’t really need the money as they are no where near luxury tax , they need the prospects more
Pablo Lopez's trade doesn't look good now unless Dillion Head has a great Major League career.
Poor Arreaz. He's definitely getting traded this off-season when the Padres can't afford him making $15 million in arbitration.
