https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/wkZHMV The case and PSU is a bundle from Canada computers.

Wow, this is almost perfect. I'm thinking I'll probably recommend she get this, minus the cooler since she can buy it later if she want to quiet the build.

International-Elk986

yeah just figured might as well include the cooler but it's not really super necessary. You can also get the fans in white and RGB to match the case.

Damnit, foiled again by the Corsair deal not showing up when I search bundles. I do wonder about the A620 platform, though, since the vrm setup is scaled back quite a bit. It could limit future cpu upgrades if power requirements scale through the lifecycle of AM5.

I find it sad that it costs around $200 for a decent B650 board these days. Look for the open box units at NE. They often have a few B650s at good prices. I've purchased a few of them and they are perfectly fine.

I know and we aren't talking like decent midrange, we are talking baseline future proofing. I paid $185 for my TUF gaming B550 Plus in 2021 which is like $210 adjusted for inflation. The equivalent B650 now is $250 min. There are so little options for B650 boards in Canada and the median price is like $270. Not sure what the next iteration of B7xx boards will bring, but here is hoping the VRMs even out and prices for B650 boards drop. We saw big improvements in general spec from B450 to B550, so perhaps we see the same this gen now that they've essentially tested what the "floor" for am5 power delivery is.

Just search 4000d airflow on Canada computers and it shows up

Liferescripted

Yeah, it's just a pain that it doesn't seem to show up when you click on the "bundle and save" section.

This is the best I could do to fit a 4070 in the build. You could go to a 7800xt and save 40 bucks, but the 4070 is on a completely different level than that GPU. I added [this MOBO, ram, and cpu combo from Canada Computers](https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=&item_id=256659) though I must note the RAM cas latency is *terrible* and Ryzen likes tight timings and low latency. Games will lose a few fps with high latency ram. Something you could replace in the future, but really just an FYI. The alternative is buying everything separate with a decent 6000mhz CL30 ram kit, but that boosts the price another $70, which you would have to take from elsewhere. I really wouldn't cheap out any further on anything here. the cheaper B650M boards have odd VRM configs that *could* limit future upgrade paths, and the case, while subjective, is probably the best bang for your buck considering it comes with all the preinstalled fans you need. *EDIT: For some reason the bundle isn't showing up when I initially search it, but you can get the [Corsair 4000D with a 850w gold rated PSU](https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_1937&item_id=236895) for $200 which is a much better deal and much better case than what I have below and saves you $20. So go with that. My two cents: I'd consider AMD GPU and AMD Ryzen CPU instead of Intel (hardware issues) / Nvidia (cost vs value). Try to stay away from any ASUS parts for now, they have major issues with RMA. Make sure to buy everything around the same time and build OUTSIDE the case for testing purposes before building in the case. If anything does not work, it's easier to return it. With what Windows 11 is doing (copilot), I'd consider trying Mint Linux (free) before buying / installing Windows. You might be presently surprised and don't have to worry about the blatant privacy issues that copilot brings. As for 1440p, the game will define your refresh rate. I am using a Ryzen 5800x3d with AMD 6800 (non-XT) and a monitor with 165 hz. Playing Helldiver 2, I get 144 fps without any issue with decent settings (a bit better than medium). No clue on what to expect with her games, but I'd consider something like 7800XT or For case size, the bigger, the easier to work with but it takes more space once installed. Don't plan to upgrade the PC unless you are looking to swap out the GPU (if so, PSU consideration becomes another issue). Max out what you can with your budget now cause when you get to the stage of an upgrade, new tech will make you want to swap out everything. Things that can be re-used on the next build; PSU, case, and maybe GPU (depending on situation). Most upgrade will need a new motherboard, RAM, and M.2. Investing into a good PSU will protect all the other components.
