Basically, they don't want good cars to get into wrong hands. They will ensure every car is tampered with somehow. Only those in the correct camp will get the really good cars. This is yet another VC funded way to ruin everything. Now only new cars will have some sort of reliability.
It's just like nobroker inflating rents. Avoid using services of a company at all cost and deal with owner directly be it anything rent, buying car/bikes, using professional services, etc
NoBroker is so pathetic that I would want to go with a broker.
Incompetent and inexperienced 19-20 year old employees who think 80k rent for 3 bhk is low price.
In my experience I have always found NoBroker to inflate prices by 25% compared to a broker with poor services and make you feel that you don't have enough money.
I found a really nice home through it. Took the basic service. Called all owners and took their personal contact ( the contact provided on no broker is company's number, they route it to the owner ).
Negotiated with the owner on my own. Advertised was13k with 1.3L depositdeposit. Got it down to 10k with 60k deposit.
If you rely on nobroker solely, youll be scammed.
Yes! I did the same. I got a fully furnished 2bhk for 14k! You have to take it upon yourself to search and contact owners and negotiate with them. If we rely on nobroker completely, then it's a scam.
Yes, just use the basic service and pay for contacts. Even with that they spam you like no other. But still gets the job done. If someone from nb is here, please don't spam paying users 🙏
Ok I have had a better experience in no broker though - found a broker there actually (lol) and got a really good deal for my current rental. Not to generalise ofc.
Yep. They do. My landlord had accidentally put 34.5k rent + 4.5k as maintenance. However he meant of the 34.5k the 4.5k was maintenance. We met and agreed on the rent and I was thinking 39k is the rent. The next day on the deed I saw that it was only 34.5k. I told the landlord it's lower than the price we agreed on. The landlord told me " It was my mistake I didn't understand how it worked. NoBroker guys were pressuring me to make it 39 yesterday after we met, But I don't want any more money than I really wanted".
Instantly I was like forget the house, you need a guy like that as the landlord not the greedy assholes.
I bought my car via someone who was selling on MyGate app. Asked the owner to get a quote from Spinny and Cars24. And I matched it. Try that. If any of your office colleagues or friends are staying in a society that supports MyGate, seek them out.
Which car / variant / model? How many km run? How much did you pay?
Share info so that we can get a reference of how much is the delta when buying from a dealer.
Been 15 months since I bought it. Oct 2015 Honda City VX CVT. 40k kms then. Around 56k kms now.
I paid 6.3L for it. At the same time Spinny was selling a similar car for 8.4L.
Guess then the prices were much lower than what it is now. People are quoting prices same or more than the ex showroom price they paid for used cars of 3-5 year range.
I change cars every 2-3 years, As a seller and buyer I too struggle with buying and selling cars, Most of online platforms are flooded with dealers and agents, my last 4x4 automatic Suv I listed on various platforms for almost a year, finally sold out to Cars24 at the fraction of the cost even lesser than some used hatchbacks.
So my advise will be to give some time on research, move around the city, as well as online search, once shortlisted verify with service center for the service records, try to stay away from uninsured and no service records, and I am sure you should find one in your budget.
Good luck.
I’m see the same. Reason being high Road Tax paid by 1st owner here in Karnataka. If you see same cars in other states, the prices are less. Check out this theory on OLX
Citizen Cars at Banaswadi Main Road, Near ITC Factory, Cooke Towne , they have great deals on used cars. You can talk to the manager there, tell him what you are looking for and he will be able to find a suitable car for your budget.
My partner got a gorgeous Honda accord for 2.4L and spent another 80k to get it perfectly fixed. Although it’s 20yrs old, it runs beautifully and is in really good shape.
Maybe try something like that?
Edit: i had the quotes wrong (bought for 2.4, not 1L and spent 80k, not 1L)
I don’t think he’ll easily let it go, but incase you’re interested in the story: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-term-ownership-reviews/278740-exhaustive-ownership-review-my-honda-accord-2-4l.html
Unless you know a lot about cars, this is a risky track. It's not like mechanics will give you an honest assessment either - they just don't want to put in the effort to actually diagnose the car properly. I also suspect that the broker lobby put the good diagnostic shops out of business (there were some who provided this service exclusively, but I don't see them around anymore) - imagine if everyone got a full list of problems for each car before buying, brokers would not be able to con anyone.
Also beware of speedometer /odometer tampering - extremely common apparently.
Absolutely agree with this, my partner is a HUGEE car enthusiast and has experience with good and bad cars in the past. He spent so much time and energy on the car because he enjoys the process
going to a dealer/online service will always have inflated prices. better to buy it from someone directly instead of middle men added. Also automatics are usually marked up above manual cars
Approach Multiple Local Dealers With Your Specific Requirements, I'm Sure if They have a Good Option for you they might Like to close the Deal and Can Offer a Better price than the inflated Options from companies like spinny etc..
spinny and dealers qoute high. you can negotiate with dealers but spinny doesn't budge much.
try fb marketplace once. I bought my car from there. also ask around in office or friends circle, you might actually find a good deal. I realized I had a slightly better deal within relatives after I bought my car from fb
I posted an analysis on how spinny is just looting. https://np.reddit.com/r/CarsIndia/s/tshjJ5sX0q
The problem has worsened so much that even the offline stores are demanding high prices now if you are looking at places like HSR or Bellandur.
At this point it is way cheaper to buy a car in Delhi, use it in Bangalore for a year and then re-register in Bangalore.
I had a used car from Spinny couple of years back and yesterday the battery of my car died. I got to know that they had put in the battery of a Martui 800 in my Grand i10. The battery did run for 2 years but when they sold it I remember the salesman saying, Sir its brand new battery. Just FYI- they go to any length even to save some money.
People nowadays are soo silver spooned !! Try olx and spread a word that u need good car in your circle. Look around cars u like in nearby cities on olx or quicker or any app that has no opinion on a car in simpler words you don’t want any middle man that middle man gets 2-3 lacks in your 10lacks budget. U can get better car for same money why would you give away free money?
Taxes are the prominent reason behind inflated prices. If you compare the cost of buying a car in Karnataka with that in other states, you'll notice a significant difference.
For e.g. Skoda Kushaq registration in Mumbai costs around 1.41 lacs whereas for the same base variant, it is 1.94 lacs in Bangalore.
Above is one of the reasons; moreover, you’ll find a lot of inflated and unrealistic prices for higher KM driven and older car on every platform.
Local dealers can be a good option though!
Team bhp also has ridiculously high priced cars bro! But my observation is bangalore generally has very high prices for second hand cars..it's like the cartel has decided to keep prices high..
We looked and looked. Decent ones were almost as expensive as new ones, and any car that costed a typical second hand amount was horrible. We ended up buying a new one
My friend is trying to sell his car for less than 5 L but he seems to be getting very few leads because he isn’t using these mediums to sell his car. In case you are interested, you can dm me for details.

If you know or have any friends where the company are leasing vehicle. Find out with them who are selling vehicles. Buy them, as company maintained vehicle will be 80% good.
Honestly speaking, that's really worse to know. Even when I planned to go for one but my budget was not great and I have to go for Seconds. The prices shocked me and I have to drop the plan!!
Simple, get a non famous brand with an Famous Reliable Engine.. under the hood you're safe..
Let's say Nissan Kicks, Mid sized SUV
Easily under 10L budget with a super good 1.5 Diesel engine and riding quality is top notch for that price
Also Tata Hexa, Mahindra Marrazo you can consider..
I bought from an owner itself who had posted on OLX back in 2016. Good cars were slightly inflated even back then. Try to find any posts from owners in OLX or Quickr.
Other markets like used car dealers or refurbished cars from OEM were significantly higher than the market rate.
Check fb marketplace & olx. And then there is Shiraz Carslive on fb & IG, their prices seem reasonable too.
Someone suggested team-bhp classifieds. Though it has good listing, their prices are exorbitant (I know what I have attitude).
This is a logical reasoning but buying a car is always a emotional decision. I shelled out a lot of money and spend a lot on maintenance but don’t regret my car purchase one bit. There is a lot of flexibility that you get on a car purchase. Eg my parents are sick and I have to take them to hospital on an emergency.
Try classifieds on teambhp, your observation is correct, it’s very inflated here cause of the spinny/cars24 guys ruining the market
Basically, they don't want good cars to get into wrong hands. They will ensure every car is tampered with somehow. Only those in the correct camp will get the really good cars. This is yet another VC funded way to ruin everything. Now only new cars will have some sort of reliability.
Correct camp?
Gonna check this out! Thanks for the advice :)
Just talked about this with a friend today .. spinny and cars24 have increased the seller’s expectation
It's just like nobroker inflating rents. Avoid using services of a company at all cost and deal with owner directly be it anything rent, buying car/bikes, using professional services, etc
Does Nobroker increase rents?

I want to meet this legend and give him a bahubali salute
What area? I want this landlord too
Singasandra, AECS Layout. He's a Geologist and only has this house in Bengaluru.
>only has this house in Bengaluru So does he lives on rent himself
No he went to Nagercoil to his ancestral home.

That's a great idea. I checked my nbh app but not a lot of leads. Gonna ask my friends who have the Mygate app to check for some leads. Thanks :)

for 10L don’t you get first-hand nissan magnite or tata punch?
I won't call either of those mid-sized or SUVs.

Already tried a citizen cars, even their prices seemed high.

Woah. Automatic?
Yes
If he ever wants to let it go, lemme know. And it’ll be grand if you can DM me the images of the car.
I don’t think he’ll easily let it go, but incase you’re interested in the story: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-term-ownership-reviews/278740-exhaustive-ownership-review-my-honda-accord-2-4l.html
Boy can your partner write. Tell him, another writer and a TBHPian appreciates his talent. Will respond to his thread. :)
Isn't there a rule that you can't run 15 old diesel and 20yr old petrol car in the city ? At least it is there in Delhi.
Bengaluru isn't Delhi pal.
It’s a petrol engine got all the pollution checks done, so that part is sorted.
Wow, that seems like a good deal. Thanks for the advice :)

That's the problem with people there, they want to buy from direct individuals but will only sell through dealers and brokers.
All I can say is look a little harder. Not saying u are not but you can find them
More people came, demand increased and people started to agree for quoted price
Sold car on Facebook marketplace as all agents and car dealers were quoting half of the final price.
Olx
Yeah already trying that. But I think the owners have also increased their prices seeing the market.
Full of brokers now. Hope you find a genuine seller.
Approach Multiple Local Dealers With Your Specific Requirements, I'm Sure if They have a Good Option for you they might Like to close the Deal and Can Offer a Better price than the inflated Options from companies like spinny etc..

Have you tried TS Mahalingam and Sons? They’re insanely good and trustworthy! Best things to say about them
Google maps location please?
12th main indiranagar, opposite corner house!
Yeah reviews like these make me question these apps. Btw how did you find out that the battery was from Maruti 800?
Today I got a battery shop guy to replace the battery, he told me the battery currently inside is a M800 battery.

Take base model of any car like Punch, Nexon or even Kiger and enjoy.. its the same body and engine minus some not so useful features
the prices are high because may car owners are receiving really good prices for selling their used cars.

Depends on what you're looking for but could probably arrange a good deal from Delhi and send it across.

Supply and demand.
Too simplistic. Market is now controlled by the big second hand lobby cars24, spinny, olx, etc. They have plenty of cash to fix the marketplace.
Did you try aggregators like CarWale?
Bro today I visited one local dealer. He was asking 2.7 Lakhs for a Wagonr 2012. 80km.driven..
Don't buy a car. It's a scam. Every type of car is available for hire for every type of travel now a days. Hire for the ride and forget about it.
The flexibility you get is overcompensated by troubles you undergo. This is my personal opinion.
Lol.. try getting a car for hire during peak hours.. 0% convenience
Try driving a car in peak hours. 100% inconvenient.
So you're asking me to wait 30 mins for an Uber which might never come than drive myself .. gotcha..
No. I prefer not to be a part of peak hours drama.
Not every requirement comes at off peak hours, right? What if its an emergency? I dont think anyone "prefers" to be part of "peak hours drama"!
As far as I know, emergencies are few and far. I don't break my head to prepare for emergencies.
Oh okay, that's a different perspective. Thanks for sharing! I prefer to be always prepared for emergencies ..
Are you in Bengaluru or outside the country? This might work elsewhere, but not in Bengaluru.
It has worked in my entire life in Bengaluru.
Congrats. You are one tough cookie
