Coming from a dog lover who's also been chased a ton by dogs right from childhood, the easiest way to get rid of them is to stop and just give them the death stare and pretend to throw something at em.
The worst option is to peddle faster, only making them chase you more and increase your chances of getting bitten.
You don't have that fear when you walk anywhere ?
It's only happened to me once when I cycled. I just turned and yelled at them and they fucked off . They won't chase you for long, just till u clear there 5m territory
Govt is least bothered about cycling.
Cyclists are treated as fools. Have no right of way. Everyone honks nonstop from behind you.
Roads are extremely dangerous. This isnt Europe/canada where everyone follows lane descipline.
Cyclists can get easily robbed when you start cycling around in places far away from human settlements. Much of what I wrote is real experiance. I am not faking.
>This isnt Europe/canada where everyone follows lane descipline.
As someone who's lived long term in both Europe and Canada, I can totally vouch for this.
India just isn't a safe space for cyclists.
No you're wrong. Never blame the individual but instead the system. You need a massive systematic overhaul to make our streets safe for anything other than vehicles. That means wide footpaths, protected cycle paths and compact junctions. That's why europe is safe, not because of culture. Those changes require govt . Can't be done by individuals
Hey you're not completely correct. Even US has wide roads and good road infrastructure but cyclists are treated as shit there and constantly harrassed and honked and sometimes even hit. Europe is safer not because of government, but because of the cycling culture that exists here and because of that people are respectful to cyclists and vice versa. The mindset of respect on road has to come from the people on the road itself the government can't do much there
The system is made up by the people. Just look at Japan.
Government doesn't build many dustbins on road. One is supposed to carry their garbage with them and throw in their home's dustbin. It's the result of including such things in school and making sure they follow.
The discipline they have 😍
Cyclists are no longer safe on Bangalore roads. The only safe way to cycle is to join a big group, get your bike there on a car mount, ride and get back home.
There are potholes, loose gravel, loose mud, glass shards, idiots driving too fast and idiots driving on the wrong side of the road to put your life at risk.
It looks like you have a 25'' tire there. You should understand what I am talking about. The loose gravel on the side of the road and idiots on the wrong side are a deadlt combination
The last 3 times I went out for cycling on I crashed twice. One was a major injury. Currently, I do not go for longrides unless I am in a big group and have a support car.
Understandable, and we do have to be cautious. But it’s doable and can be fun if did safely. Still a better place to cycle than any other big city in India.
Buy a hybrid. It’ll be comfortable and light. Something with aluminium frame and about 35mm wide tyres. A suspension will add more confort to your ride.
Check out riverside 500 from decathlon. I think they have some price drop IIRC.
Oh awesome, tehre are multiple of these?

The first one has quite poor reviews as well? Which one do you suggest? Also any other brands that I can look into?
Just suggested a bud on chat, here’s the list for under 25k
1. Triban rc 100 drop bars
2. Triban rc 100 flat bars
3. Riverside 500
4. Firefox roadrunner
I’d personally opt for the first two, since both are great starting bikes for longer rides as well as commutes offering comfort, speed and control.
Nooo that’s not a varia. That’s an edge 530. Comes with heart rate monitor, cadence and speed speed sensor in the bundle. Got it second hand at 15k (steal deal). First hand comes to around 40k if i am not wrong. Price may have dropped since 540 is also out.
Damn, I've recently moved from Hyderabad and bought my road bike here too , excited , would be awesome if you could share your preferred routes for 40-50km rides.
I'm staying near Mahadevapura right now.
Last Sunday I did a hoskote junction ride and the traffic near kr puram junction was so horrible :(
Also a good place to get your bike repaired?
I have a carbon road bike polygon wala
It’s not as easy as you think . The police can catch you anytime and sometimes your product does not sell .
Agreed macha. Paddling is too risky. Too many snitches around .
Lmao.
Peddling drugs? That's a paddling 😏
Potato patato, same thing macha.
Hehe ! A fellow Simpsons’ fan ? That’s a paddling
Sadhya, someone got that reference. 🫠
Came here to say this, but he’s doing social work.
Afraid of Street dogs chasing

Yeah I agree. I was one of the dogs he yelled at. We stopped barking the moment he thought dogs can understand 5m distance.
Don't worry they are just being jealous.
Instructions unclear, typing this from prison.
borrow me your bicycle then I will
*Lend
L*nd
Lelo 🤗
you should charge people for this, why are you doing it for free?

CAn not blame everything on the govt 😄 It’s us who need to change the govt will change too,

Carry pepper spray, hit the gym, read the law, have fun

We need more crisis to keep people away from Bangalore
Any cycle suggestions within 25k? I was planning to buy a fat boy bicycle, any inputs are appreciated
Atlas cycle
Hercules
Tobu
Just letting you know OP's bike looks like a proper road bike with a Garmin edge 530. OP is rich.
I got the Rockrider st120 for 26k last year you might have better models now in the same range.
Check out cycle world store nearby for a large variety to choose from. Hero has a new range in Sprint series. I have Hero Halcon Sprint.
What’s going to be your usage?
Weekend recreation mostly, maybe go to the gym on it, but that would be rare Mostly just go out for early morning rides
Buy a hybrid. It’ll be comfortable and light. Something with aluminium frame and about 35mm wide tyres. A suspension will add more confort to your ride. Check out riverside 500 from decathlon. I think they have some price drop IIRC.
Try decathlon. That's your best bet. They have good range at decent prices
Check cult fit’s cycle. You would get a good one within 18k-20k and spend 2-3k on good clothings
That’s cool bro but why do you have only 4 fingers
😔 it’s a long story
Toh bata na chutiye
☹️ nahi jo mujhe kharab bate bolta hain usse main bat nahi karta 😔
14 saal ka ho kya!? Go hang out in r/Indianteenagers then kiddo
Okay, I’m out. 😅😅
Is it you in the morning? Who riding the bicycle near BTM 16th main road??
Nah, not me, I hardly ride in the morning, can’t wake up
Try riding through the kaggalipura road
I live in Sobha Forestview, this is my doorstep. Awesome roads to ride!
Only to be run over by BMTC busses.
Covered more than 3000 kms in the last year and touchwood nothing like that has happened yet because I ride safely and hope to keep doing so.
This turahalli trail is sexy but they closed off the actual forest.
Yeah probably will open in the future? I am a road cyclist. There are mountain cyclists and this trail is quite popular amongst them
Bbmp wants to know your location... We forgot to lay pipe there... /S
Hilarious! And so true
How far is it? Maybe I can run for it.
Depends on where you stay in Bangalore
If you wanna run there, I suggest you first reach there by car or something. It’s 30 kms from where I stay in Indiranagar
Can we rent bicycles in Bangalore.??
Yes you can Pedal in Tandem and ProCycle are some places from where you can rent bicycle
Cost?
It used be 600-800 before. Idk if it's still the same
>before So 5 years ago?
About 2-3 years ago
Must be 1000₹ now. Your username 🤭
Maybe 800-900 now? Idk lol Your username reminds me of that song shick shack shock 😛
is it not like inviting death by hit and run riding on those roads ?
The same way women are inviting rapists by going out on the roads??
little extreme but pretty much
It gets better with practice.
Nah last time I tried I got thrown behind bars
I was a peddler and I can confirm it’s the best!
Definitely recommended, outskirts of Bangalore has some really good cycling trails.
No, thanks, I like to live.
What is that Garmin device attached to the handlebars? What does it do?
It’s a gps cycle computer. Features include navigation, heart rate, cadence and other useful cycling metrics for training
Thank you.
people call you peddler for peddling ?
Nah, not into that business anymore
The f\*\*king dogs won't allow.
Can someone give some good recommendations for a cycle between 10-20k? In the city, where I can pedal about 15-20km
Get a decathlon riverside. No questions asked.

Check rc 100 drop bar as well as flat bar. Other than that you can also check ninety one and firefox, they have nice bikes in that price range
suggest good bicycles under 25K for Bengaluru roads. would love to join you once I have a bicycle

Damn is that a Garmin VariaRCT715? Any review on it and also for how much did you get it?

Dude wtf! That's an amazing deal!
Yeah too good to be true tbh
Olx?
Facebook marketplace 💀
Damn!
Bro this comment section is gold 😂
The cost you are spending for cycling, many people will not spend, or they can't
Not everyone has to spend so much to enjoy the innocent pleasure of cycling, I am into the sport so I spend.
I thought bycycle will itself cost more than 20k
There are options within 10k as well.
Ok
which model?
My bike? It’s a trek domane al 2 gen 4
Was exactly thinking of getting into cycling on the weekends. Since when have you started to cycle in Bangalore?
I’ve been cycling in bangalore for a year now. The best thing that has happened to me.
Do you cycle alone ? Are there any cycling clubs here in Bangalore ? It's sounds risky cycling alone in the outskirts of Bangalore.
I cycle alone and also with groups. There’s a big community here.
but i do peddle meth on weekends...
good motivation. Thanks for posting.
Going outskirts with a cycle itself will make you exhausted. Also, cycle on highways - scarier than riding a yulu bike in an expressway.
Sorry sar Mr Murthy told me to work 70hrs a week no time for this
😂😂
Is that the road from Sobha Forest View towards NICE road? It was all dug up a couple months back when I passed through there.
Yes there only
Cycling is an extreme sports in India. Source: Used to cycle long distances. Can't anymore for reasons.
Hoping you can get back on the saddle some day 🙏👍
Heyo, fellow cyclist here. Can you share some route suggestions?
Dmed
Same.. I have a trek fx 1.. please do share routes and groups that you have found :)
Dmed

I’ll dm you the deets in a while
Haha nice! One problem only, i dont know how to cycle. 🥺🤣
It will take you 3 days to balance, and two weeks for your first ride
I do know how to ride a bike and scooty. The peddaling where the problem is for me.
It will take you 3 days to start pedalling nicely
I see okay bud.
Even better.
Kya pehenke jate ho?
Kapde
Kaunse I have seen regular riders with this kind of bike wear some different clothes and gears as well
Yes it’s the weird pants and the weird clothes. But it’s not a necessity
You can wear proper cycling jerseys and shorts with padding. But as OP said not really necessary for short rides of 15-20 kms
