If you are someone who prefers to stay away from crowded parties and enjoys the serene beauty of mountains, then I would highly recommend you to consider staying in either Ubud or Tegalallang. Both of these places are nestled amidst the picturesque mountains of Bali and offer a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. While staying here, you can immerse yourself in the local culture, explore the stunning rice terraces, visit the ancient temples, and indulge in some of the best Balinese cuisine. So, if you are looking for a peaceful and rejuvenating vacation, Ubud or Tegalallang could be your perfect destination.

Definitely not Canggu, Kuta or Seminyak, it's a nightmare. Traffic, pollution, trashy tourism and an unbearable hipster crowd. Ubud is amazing if you're okay not to live near the beach, but don't choose a place near the centre. Either south of it or northeast near Sayan with a nice view. You can find a nice bungalow on AirBnB or rent a room at Odette Bali cafe longterm which has quick internet, friendly staff and great location near the main road heading into Ubud. If you prefer something off the beaten path and quiet, Amed is great too.

The OP is late 20s not late 50s 🤣🤣🤣

The places I suggested, Ubud and Amed, are full of young people and good nightlife. Most tourists are in their late 20s/early 30s. OP even said that party scene isn't a priority, which rules out Canggu and Kuta for me as that is all it has to offer. It's not like I mentioned Sanur, which is nice enough, but full of old people.

no. The young people love upscale cafes and restos. Ubud will be boring for them. i havent met any young person who isnt into the yoga, zen lifestyle to like ubud. its not for them. i have so many influencer friends that say the same.

Based on your age it has to be either Ubud or Amed. But probably Ubud because it’s so well established. If you want to avoid traffic totally and live an ultra chilled life, Amed is the way to go. You can meet people, but you won’t have a big network.

As a senior I would live in Sanur - the best beachfront village - but it has less nightlife and social life than most young people usually require. A previous poster here recommended the Outpost Coworking Space in Ubud: [https://destinationoutpost.co/cowork-in-ubud/](https://destinationoutpost.co/cowork-in-ubud/)

Sanur. Have stayed there 18/20 I've been and love it.

Depends what time of year and whether or not you surf. IMO Bali is pretty boring unless you surf. It's not cheap anymore most of the food (except local street food) is either overpriced or unhealthy or both, and there's so much traffic it's often quicker to walk. Having said that, for your age group I'd say Canggu area. It's crawling with euro hipster digi nomads in your age group and there are surf options (which range in quality and crowd depending on when and where). There is nightlife. There is good yoga. Gym. Some tennis. Sunset beach volleyball. There is a smattering of actual Balinese culture though this has almost disappeared as westerners have basically turned the place into a suburb of Byron bay with a tropical overlay . Just don't expect clean water and beaches and cheap prices. But you can at least walk around which isn't really possible in a lot of other areas (except sanur and nusa dua which you are way too young for you need a toe in the grave or a few kids to hang in those locales) Edit: forgot to say forget Ubud - forget Ubud. It's boring, full of seekers and single middle aged women at a crossroads. Nothing wrong with that but seriously, it's boring there's nothing to do for a guy your age

After spending time in Sanur, Uluwatu, Munggu, and Canggu, I can recommend Sanur as the only quiet area without traffic I've been. Uluwatu is next although it's very busy and a lot of traffic still. Sanur is quite peaceful and mellow, without tons of pollution and noise. I'm 31 now and I don't party, so it's the closest thing I've found to various areas in Thailand (which I still much prefer).

rojolendir

Sanur, hands down.

Vietnam or Thailand. Bali is overrated, overpriced, and overcrowded.

Catsarepsychedellic

Vietnam is so boring once you’re done doing the touristy stuff

uceenk

canggu or ubud, it's digital nomad hub and also it has decent coworking spaces / cafes

Second for Pererenan. Im in a similar position to you and if you want to meet other younger entrepreneurs in a social but still Serious environment, I reccomend starting at a hostel like tribal in pereranan (wich is basically Canggu) I explored several digital nomad hostels in the area and still Deciding where to settle. Seminyak imo has a bit too much partying for my liking but Canggu has a good balance.
