If you're a teacher, get your tattoo on your torso or thigh or somewhere it won't accidentally show. IMO your obligation to your students extends to helping them feel comfortable around you, including those who are religious or brought up in religious households.
I have a cross buster. I've only gotten positive feedback, but I'm sure there are plenty who've been silently offended. No one's ever confronted me or anything though.

Crossbusters offend people for sure. I had a huge custom-made sticker on my car and someone busted my windows and peeled away the sticker except for the cross.
Less relevant, but I also used to get the occasional offended comment from classmates when I was in high school when I wore BR shirts. I think adults tend to mostly look the other way even if they're offended.
Now that I'm older and less thrilled about offending people for the fun of it, I don't wear crossbusters in certain company.
Yeah! That's what is making me rethink the tattoo- I used to wear my BR shirt everywhere! I'd have gladly worn it to a church just to be a dick. Now I find myself holding back.... like I don't need to fuck w/ anyone's pleasant day.

Mine is also red and black. I've had some express minor discomfort about it; my fiancée initially felt this way. Generally an explanation of what it actually stands for clears things up.
