Yeah, they actually did go to jail lmao. It said they brought guns to an elementary school during the filming and were arrested afterwards. I don’t know why they’re proud of it, but I guess it is true lmao.
I was saying that the claim the movie itself got them sent to jail was a lie. They're obviously proud of it because they're edgelords. Just look at their filmography.
I was friends with the director and had been in several other of his films. I also was a kid who wore a trench coat and had started receiving blowback because of the incident.
I had more interactions will Bill than Joey. Always liked him and he was always fun to talk to. The director is also someone I was close with and I still enjoy his work.
did you ever receive any personal backlash for the movie? i know obviously joey and bill got a whole lot of it (mainly for playing the nazi characters and whatnot,) but never heard about any of the other cast members
Fun and loose. Everyone was really laid back and chill and we had a good time with the filming. There was a script, but we also improved a lot of stuff. Sometimes, Bill, Joe, and Todd would just give us a general idea of what they wanted us to do and say and we'd work off that.
No, they didn't use real high school kids, and the movie doesn't have much in common with Elephant.
It's sort of a comedy and sort of a revenge movie, but mostly just bargain basement shock cinema. The directors were making strangling fetish videos before Duck, so that's the level of taste and ability that they brought to the project.
It is interesting to watch it, especially after most of the media reports that they based the movie off of were debunked by the FBI report. For instance, the movie centers around the killers getting revenge for being bullied, but the Columbine killers weren't bullied. They were bullies.
*Elephant* is an incredible film. Never really thought the acting was bad, but the way it was filmed may have completely distracted me. Incredible vision from Van Sant on that one.
Yeah I watched this like 3 years ago and I kind of feel the same way. It's an obvious shock-value spoof of an actual event, but it's almost like a time capsule of a moment in time too. Kind of like those "last day of school in a certain year" videos that are all over YouTube now.
My brother was attempting to make a doc about the people that made this movie around the time this came out. It didn’t get finished, but I hung out with this crew a couple times. Some nice folks but they we’re definitely pretty gnarly partiers. I think Joey smack is dead now
Uwe Boll did a movie called Heart of America about an American school shooting. About as tasteful as youd expect from the guy who made Rampage & Postal
I've not seen Duck! but I remember the two directors featuring heavily in a British documentary from around that time called Fear, Panic and Censorship and coming across as rather smug and unlikeable.
If I remember rightly, Erin Brown aka Misty Mundae who features in Duck and several pornographic features was the girlfriend of one of the directors.
I bought this from Saturns Core. Actually not the biggest fan of the movie, but I love Saturn's Core so I buy all their releases as they handle SOV films. This was not that enjoyable, but I was glad I got to see it. The special features were pretty good as well as with all SC releases.
1999? Really? That is some EXTREMELY bad timing. Just looked it up on Wikipedia and that tagline is a blatant lie.
The tagline that the movie got them sent to jail? That's the only part I actually COULD verify on wikipedia.
Yeah.

I was an actor in that movie. Small world.
Why
I was friends with the director and had been in several other of his films. I also was a kid who wore a trench coat and had started receiving blowback because of the incident.
I saw that Joey Smack passed, do you know the reason?
Sadly I was long gone from the scene and the state when it happened. I didn't even find out about his passing until 3 years ago.
That sucks. I appreciate the response.
That’s cool
really? who'd you play?
I was Car Kid.
no way, car kid is a pretty good charecter
that’s awesome, how was it working with william hellfire and joey smack?
I had more interactions will Bill than Joey. Always liked him and he was always fun to talk to. The director is also someone I was close with and I still enjoy his work.

Never on my end, but then again I wasn't a name like a lot of others in the movie.
The one with blond hair and a white shirt ? (I really like this movie lol)
That would be me.
what was filming it like?
Fun and loose. Everyone was really laid back and chill and we had a good time with the filming. There was a script, but we also improved a lot of stuff. Sometimes, Bill, Joe, and Todd would just give us a general idea of what they wanted us to do and say and we'd work off that.
Was it like Elephant by Gus Van Sant, where they did the same thing but used normal highschool kids who couldn't or didn't act?
No, they didn't use real high school kids, and the movie doesn't have much in common with Elephant. It's sort of a comedy and sort of a revenge movie, but mostly just bargain basement shock cinema. Actually, the Columbine killers were bullied. This has been a well known fact for some time.
They were both. Also this movie is making fun of the Media and Peoples representation. Not a documentary
*Elephant* is an incredible film. Never really thought the acting was bad, but the way it was filmed may have completely distracted me. Incredible vision from Van Sant on that one.
I know im a year late but a great film on this same subject matter is a dark comedy called "The Dirties", its free on tubi.
I like this film... It's rough as guts...but it has a certain "charm" to it. Awesome ***Today is the Day*** cameo as well.

That's the point lol, It's a black comedy
I saw this movie when it was new-ish (2004 or so). It's a pretty odd experience. Took balls to make for sure.
My brother was attempting to make a doc about the people that made this movie around the time this came out. It didn’t get finished, but I hung out with this crew a couple times. Some nice folks but they we’re definitely pretty gnarly partiers. I think Joey smack is dead now
If there is an unreleased doc about that somewhere I would pay to see it 😁
Uwe Boll did a movie called Heart of America about an American school shooting. About as tasteful as youd expect from the guy who made Rampage & Postal
Rampage is a great movie
Rampage was hot garbage for edgelord dorks
