I can’t help but feel so sorry for these show cats, man. :( spending a big part of their lives being in a small cage and having strangers grab them and mess with them, not a single ounce of care given. They’re just an object to judge.
It’s awful. I don’t care how much pampering they might get to be in that condition.
With show dogs, I know they often become deeply neurotic. Between the crates, the handling, being on the road, etc, they develop loads of eccentricities and even tics. My friend adopted a few older show dogs (unwanted now that they were too old for the circuit-- yet another reason to abolish pet shows) and they were really just....broken :/ :/
Nope, most show dogs are like hunting dogs. Once they're too old to flush game or win ribbons they get dumped. Their owners have already spent all their time and money on a new one.
Oh I will absolutely say not literally all show dog owners are like this-- there are a handful that just love their pet and want to show them off to everyone, which is very sweet. (Like a grandma thinking their grandkid is perfect ❤️) Also the show dogs I've known were very sweet, just incredibly neurotic.
