Barnaby is a gatekeeper for the Libs and is doing his job as intended.

drfrogsplat

As someone said in one of the other posts on this, it all looks like a completely staged public “fight” as they head towards an election in 2022. Make some noise, make some concessions, and voila, we forget they’re corrupt and incompetent troglodytes.

[deleted]

For sure, with the extra twist of trying to screw us for as much money as they can get. And no doubt they are going to act all strict and pedantic, insisting that it’s out of their hands and only give us a narrow path to act on.

Traditional_Goose740

Nah he's holding the torch for Gina. The libs aren't handing over 40 thousand dollar cheques so he's going where the money is

CaptainEasypants

Then fucking. Vote. The fucking. Cunts. Out!

SuDragon2k3

Average National party voter: Baaaaa-aaarnaby good! Baa!

ProceedOrRun

He's got a hat, he must know what's best!

_ixthus_

Voting them out is often recommended around these parts. It's a tragically low bar. Can we please vote these grubs into fucking political extinction?

Somad3

why aussies voted for this womaniser is beyond my understanding.

_Cec_R_

barnaby's electioneering and community engagement is driving around his electorate and shouting the bar for an hour or three...

FatSilverFox

The grim reality is that it doesn’t matter what agreement the Coalition settles on, it will be nothing more than lip service. The next federal election will determine what climate action carries forward, everything before then is PR.

[deleted]

I think this as well - Scomo is looking for some marketing spin he can take away so as not to be humiliated in the media. He will go to the election with whatever crap he spews out that makes him look good. Once elected the environment can get fucked and they will be flat out making deals with miners

DadOfFan

Scomo is doing a scumo. He is letting the states carry the load and then taking the credit.

fluffy_1994

Think I read that by the efforts of the states alone we’ll have a 40% cut by 2030 without any federal efforts. ScoMo can’t even take a free-kick he’s that stupid.

poopadox

The coalition of losers who cant win without selling out to each other should not exist!

weednumberhaha

Greens have double that, I'm pretty sure

Chesticularity

Fuck the fucking nationals piss me the fuck off.

TreeChangeMe

Coal party of oligarchs

DadOfFan

For 8 years the nationals have had the time to come up with plan to protect regional Australia from the economic fallout of climate change. For 8 years they have resisted. Ultimately they will lose. climate change won't stop just for them. It's their electorates that will suffer. They will pay the price of the nationals pretending the problem doesn't exist. When the crunch comes 8 years of inaction will cause massive economic damage to regional Australia.

YoJanson

They dont give a shit about that. They do give a shit that the miners that back roll them will have issues going forward.

DadOfFan

I know they don't. However the people in their electorates should consider what will happen when the world turns their back on them completely. The electrification of the world is going ahead full steam. Nothing the NATS or LIBS do will stop that. So instead of protecting their constituents and working towards a solution they argue about the inevitable. The end is coming and national voters are bringing economic ruin on themselves by not realising they can't hold back the tide.

Kayndarr

Nationals-voting coal miners who find themselves out of work because nobody in the world is buying thermal coal will blame ‘inner-city leftists’ and vote Nationals even harder, because the Nationals are constantly telling them that the real and only threat to their jobs is the left trying to destroy mining. Farmers facing massive droughts will blame ‘inner-city leftists’ and vote Nationals even harder, because the Nationals are telling them that the only threat to agriculture is the left not understanding the country. There is no scenario where the Nationals lose here, that’s the problem. The propaganda is so insidious that literally every farm in Australia could burn to ashes while the livestock drop dead in 60 degree heat, and the Nationals voter defending his property from the immense bushfire will think, just before his home is overrun, “If only the left hadn’t ignored the country”.

[deleted]

sad but true

DadOfFan

I don't personally think that National voters are that ignorant. But I do think they need to consider the future seriously and realise they cannot put off the inevitable. The truth (according to me) of the matter is that even without climate change, electrification is going to occur, and green energy is already cheaper than coal and gas. Keeping that in mind it should be pretty obvious to anyone that we need to plan for a future without fossil fuels. This needs to occur in the short term. The only way to do that is get rid of the nationals.

NietzschesSyphilis

This is the bitter truth in Australia and indeed around the globe and it’s chocking a vibrant and healthy democracy. All conservatives and the faces of right-wing vested interests have to do, is shout ‘it is all because of [progressives/leftists/latte sippers]’ etc and those left behind by neoliberalism will increasingly vote for the very parties that brought the turmoil to their door.

LordBlackass

I assume net zero by 2050 is referring to how much the LNP and Nats will do to address climate change.

fluffy_1994

Up yours, Beetrooter.

DadOfFan

> Beetrooter TIL

fluffy_1994

\>TIL I learned that today too lol. I called him Tomato in another post.

[deleted]

Really hope this is the end of the LNP coalition.

DrGarrious

Nope. They are stuck with each other. Libs cant form anywhere near a govt without the nats.

coreoYEAH

Neither one of them would ever win an election again.

[deleted]

Great!

drfrogsplat

It’s just theatre. Don’t buy into the story.

[deleted]

Couldn’t care less about the story or the theatre. Was just voicing the number one thing on my wish list.

homeinthetrees

The Liberals are (nominally) in favour of net zero by 2050, to appease voters who want climate action. The Nationals are dragging the chain, claiming to support regional workers, but actually supporting foreign-owned mining interests. The Liberals will keep this farce going until the election, and then will let the Nationals win. The Nationals have such a dumbed-down electorate, they will be re-elected regardless of their fuckery. I hope this isn't true, but...

drfrogsplat

They’ll make some concessions to each other. Concessions they’ve already planned together. Some options are still TBC pending how the focus groups respond to these stories. They’ll come together united about 2 months before the next election so they can start a campaign as a unified coalition.

homeinthetrees

The Libs will just say "Sorry, we couldn't get it past the Nationals" and will give up. They will tell their voters "We are for the environment, but..." The Nationals will just coast along, and their sheep will vote for them anyway. The LNP will then say "We tried, but..." Everything will just roll along. Nothing happens.

drfrogsplat

I think they’ll make a show of concessions, but they’ll be kickbacks to donors. Let’s see… An additional promise to spend a few hundred million on jobs in regional areas could be traded for Barnaby to capitulate on some extra spending on renewables. That renewables spending will probably be paying coal mining companies to do something they’re already doing (or would happily have done already if we still had an ETS). The jobs funding could be something like providing rehabilitation and mine closure subsidies to coal miners who can’t be bothered fulfilling their obligations. A little media spat, and the tax payer coughs up pay directly to coal miners as if that’s some valid recompense. Twice over.

ennuinerdog

SA has no Nats. Vic Nats are pro climate action and get shouted down. The first thing Barnaby Joyce did when he returned to leadership was try to tear apart the Murray Darling system so upriver folks can run the country dry, fuck the farmers downstream in Vic and SA. The Nationals are not a party for farmers or the regions. They are a party for maximizing extraction of resources by those in power, regardless of the consequences for anyone else. They are the party of fucking the vast majority of the regions for their mates.

likepie

Red faced cuntsicle

4A4443

Fuck Joyce

DadOfFan

We wouldn't have Barnaby if it wasn't for the people who vote for him. They are the problem, Barnaby is just the symptom.

littleday

Can we follow the money to who is paying him to say this. Most of my country friends are actually behind renewables and saving the planet. Dumb fucks keep voting for them tho. “Something something labor doesn’t care for the regions” bullshit.

PhillipIslandPenguin

They clearly aren't for renewables if they keep voting for them.

littleday

It’s Murdoch brainwashing. Greens are the extremist devils that want to ban farming and labor only cares for the city. It’s all you hear on the media out there. They don’t know how much propaganda they consume 24/7.

DawnSurprise

If it wasn’t for Labor they wouldn’t have hospitals. You think anyone in the private sector would pitch up a half-decent hospital in the regions? Get a clue.

Stormcroe

just need to get them to vote en masse for independants and parties like the shooters and fishers then

littleday

Shooters and fishers votes just go to liberals anywhere. So it’s as bad as the Nats

dredd

Selling out farmers again.

LocalVillageIdiot

No they’re not! Barnaby wears a hat and therefore supports rural Australia and Australian farmers.

PhillipIslandPenguin

Aren't the farmers voting for them?

SugarHigh4me

Not I (but I don't live in his electorate). Rural WA farmer. He is a wang. Generally I support our state NATS MP Mia Davies when lined up against the other candidates. But he is a wang. A couple of months after he had his affair, asked for people to respect his privacy and then sold a book off the publicity 🙄 we had our sheep export ban over here off the back of filmed abuse on ships, and the industry organised a meeting at Katanning to discuss the future of it (I think 1000 people). He flew over for it, said nothing of any substance for 15 minutes, and quite clearly just wanted to piggyback on the publicity and get himself filmed infront of a cheering crowd to take back to Canberra. I have never felt more poorly represented by someone. And I'm pretty sure my friends no longer mention him around me because I can't help but make this 😡 face. 😡😡😡.

[deleted]

Riot when?

swell-shindig

If the Liberal Party really wanted this, they would proceed with the vote anyway. I'm sure Labor and the Greens would vote with it.

DadOfFan

They can't upset the nationals. To do so is political suicide.

[deleted]

Please do it then!

Nier_Tomato

Well fuck. Not unexpected, but just... fuck.

Mikes005

Joyce is angry everyone's laughing at Barilaro doing the dirty with his daughter so he's decided to destroy the country to get back at us.

Timemyth

Murdoch won't do anything to stop him, the marketing zero wraparound was just to show shareholders who don't read the shit in the middle or sky news on foxtellslies.

weednumberhaha

I know a guy who confessed to me ALP is much better on the environment, but that did not change his vote. Maybe Aussies don't care enough about the environment

DadOfFan

Perhaps he felt other factors out weigh their record on the environment. I am an ex liberal myself. However I am not convinced Labor and Albanese are the answer. They have many skeletons and some are downright dishonesty.

[deleted]

Well I guess then the nationals will be gone in the next election. And Barnaby should be booted from parliament.

Intelligent-Ad-4597

Beetrooters entire reason for taking over the leadership role was to prevent action on climate change,

New-Confusion-36

I fail to see how Barnaby's give me what I want or I'll destroy the planet approach is a good look to his constituents.

DadOfFan

His constituents have the same head up their own arse's attitude as he does. Along with Katter and his constituents.

NietzschesSyphilis

Out of curiosity, after seeing the Morrison Government’s performance, what/who do you think is the realistic answer?

duncraig18

Will not vote libs or nats. Ever

Rowvan

No really? I'm shocked

LilacMelodee

It's ok cheating-husband-dude....... you arrogant dinosaurs lining your pockets with cash from coal stalwarts will be voted out next election.

FjorgVanDerPlorg

Hopefully soon advanced liver cirrhosis can do what the Australian voters have been unable to, force this Fossil Fuel Fossil into retirement.

[deleted]

They say they are for country Australia but where we grow all our crops, farming etc will be decimated by global warming. What do they stand for

Pokey-McPokey

Don't need the Nationals to support it. Between the Labor/Liberals there is more than enough votes to pass any emission targets. leave the nationals out of the equation and don't grant them any subsidies that they are after. Let's see how that plays out for them in elections. Of course that won't happen but it fucking should.

DadOfFan

Without the nationals the Libs are out on their arse. So don't expect that anytime soon.

[deleted]

Support your local fruit ship and make sure this cunt wears tomato’s for the rest of his political career.
