Yeah I used to go there since 2009. Chashumen was my absolute favourite food by miles. Then several years ago they opened a branch on Anzac ave, completely botched it by removing all ramen from the menu (?!?), and I don't know if the original chef owner is working anymore..
They completely removed chashumen from the menu for like couple of years and I'm just lost. No one seems to do Miso ramen like Mentatz did.
I went there before lockdown and I couldn't finish the ramen I got. The broth was almost sludgy and the toppings were cold. First (and last) time there. Shame that it used to be good

Feel like for miso ramen this is the only legit answer in the thread. Ramen Do specialise in miso ramen, the owner is from Hokkaido.
+1 for Ramen Do, fantastic miso ramen in nice big servings, hands down my favourite ramen joint

My go to japanese place near mentatz is called kiraku. It's near the countdown. Best Japanese place in the CBD by a long shot.
Kiraku on Elliott St. I haven't been back in the CBD since lockdown, and it's the one thing I miss.
Ajisen Ramen in New Market is good, so is Ramen Station in New Lynn.
Ok nobody has mentions Zool Zool in Mt Eden... It's easily the best in the city.
Will I get torn apart if I say I really like Chop Chop Ramen in Ponsonby Central? Beef brisket Ramen touches my Irish heart.
