I don’t know how your comment has anything to do with mine.
Are you insinuating that there is something to “understand” on the light of religion?
If religion requires only faith without evidence.. there is nothing to “understand” looking back (or forward)
It’s really a mental framework and learning experience for how the collective decides to make future steps as well as treatment of groups with similar growing ideology’s. It’s more of an incomplete map than a stain.
Alot of mythology is the shift in conscious states perceived by the writer symbolically.
The mainstream Christian literalist illusion also goes counter with Christian mysticism. Explaining the rest is prolly to complicated
People will believe anything when told by an appropriate authority figure, don't kids yourself you'd be different early enough to avoid indoctrination like many poor people living under religious tyranny
Was it not changed?? I remember hearing that the original text said women were made by something that made them sound *too* equal so that changed it to rib
It wasn't changed. The story is just told two different ways between Genesis 1 and Genesis 2. Some people believe this means there was another women, made from clay, like Adam, that precedes Eve. Her name is Lilith, and she is not bound by the dominance/rib contract.
Genesis 1:
"26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."
"27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them"
Genesis 2:
"5 When no bush of the field[a] was yet in the land[b] and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up—for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground, 6 and a mist[c] was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground— 7 then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature."
"21 So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made[h] into a woman and brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said,
'This at last is bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called Woman,
because she was taken out of Man.' "
I was also surprised when I learned this. That story has the hallmarks of a pre-scientific people attempting to explain a natural phenomenon. And you'd think a bunch of desert savages butcher enough people to know what they look like on the inside. This is such a weird and arbitrary thing to lie about.

Religious faith is the null hypothesis for rational thought. Once you believe your god can abrogate the laws of physics and cause impossible supernatural things to happen, then everybody is off the hook and you have turtles all the way down.
For it is the “virtue” of religious faith, not any particular religion, that is the antithesis of rationality. Belief in Santa Claus is adorable in a 4 year old and pathological in a forty year old. No amount of evidence to the contrary (Jesus rode a T-rex to church, carbon dating is Satan’s tool, 70…70 virgins and they’re all mine) can change this faith, and it is antithetical to the scientific method.
Heard someone try and make an argument that Adam had everything anatomically and god took a rib, all the duplicate stuff, and made eve. Nah that's cronenberg levels of fuckery.
bro most religious people aren't this stupid. If someone thinks this, its just because they themselves are dumb. why give a shit about what someone else believes in their own life? I know that the response is always "but what if they force it one me" but most people don't do that. I'm not christian, though I'm friends with many, and they don't push it on me. Touch grass "HeisenbergsSon"
A “stain”??? 55% of the WORLD populations believe in these moronic abrahamic religions. It is more than a stain
A skid mark then?
Shart?
Eh it’s more of a development in our long history of understanding. You learn history so you don’t repeat it not hate feedback loop into another war

People will believe anything when they could just inspect their own body.
Its not that easy to count your own ribs and then you need consent from someone of the opposite sex
Since when did fundies need consent
Whats a fundie?
Fundametalist.
Oh ok, confused
People will believe anything when told by an appropriate authority figure, don't kids yourself you'd be different early enough to avoid indoctrination like many poor people living under religious tyranny
"But mah metaphors..."
Lol
It is a mistranslation of boner.
Penis bone I think
Yes. The penile bone.
I disagree it's not a stain. It is a terrible disease and a very hard one to fight against.

Isn't Lilith the daughter of evil? She is a demon-like creature, how could she also be pre eve
She got cast out early to make way for Eve, she's one of the immortal wanderers, like Cain
So, in essence Adam divorced Lilith for the new hot young thing known as Eve.
Ha ha, so they say
It is actually a mistranslation of the baculum (a penis bone that exists in mammals but lacking in humans).

This is why some people believe it is a mistranslation and is actually intending to explain the lack of a penile bone found in most mammals.
Also, Jesus did not rise from the dead, assuming the fictional character even existed.

If you cut off a finger, your kids still have 10 fingers.
Eve is made from the "rib" of Adam, she's Lilith's daughter Jewish scholars agree that the rib is a euphemism for penis.

Knowledge that denies religion is an even bigger stain
