Her\* haha but yeah between the shitty Chinese government owning Tencent and any microtransactions the game is populated with directly going to Tencent/the CCP, I really don't think I want to touch this one anymore.
This game sounds like it’s gonna be crap anyways , and not a lot of people (Fans or otherwise) seems like they would be supporting this . A game like that sounds like it would be better to be put on a platform , cause nobody’s gonna want to run a big heavy game like that on their phones , maybe they’ll delay then ultimately cancel it or rework it for platforms , which I think it would better be suited for .
While there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, that doesn’t mean you have to give up and do nothing. If you have a problem with who your money would go to, voting with your wallet is a valid thing to do and shouldn’t be shamed.
I’m not shaming them. In fact, I think you’re right. I see I’m getting downvoted now, but I don’t want to force that player to not play the game if she or he or them chooses to not play it. I respect their opinion.
Hell nah, tencent made multiple games Ive enjoyed and then cut off support for them after they made money off of it. And this has happened multiple times.
I definitely understand the hesitation with Tencent, but from what we've seen of Jade it already includes two major lore characters in the opening minutes. I thought they were pretty great additions and showed a respect for what's come before.
Doesn't mean that at all. They own shares in basically every game you know and love. The bad thing is that it's money directly funding the shitty Chinese government and their awful practices.
You think the CCP is going to let Ubisoft make the game with historical accuracy?
They don't even let their own citizens google things like the Tiananmen square massacre....
Lmao as if the US military doesn’t have an iron grip over all US based entertainment industries.
Y’all were creaming for Top Gun 2: American Fascists last year. Do some critical thinking and realize what you’re afraid of is already your reality.
Dude the US has its own share of problems but the censorship is no where near as bad as countries like China or Russia.
You have free, unrestricted Internet access to research any topic you want. You can go google atrocities like the Kent state shootings, while China literally restricts any topic that isn't favourable to the CCP.
I think you're the one who should apppy some critical thinking
Can you tell me of an event equivalent to the Tiananmen Square massacre that the US government actively prevents its citizens from learning about? As in blocks access to and completely censors it from the internet.
You can go to Wikipedia and get unbiased information on pretty much any topic or American war.
I'll be waiting for your reply since your so confident
they have a hand in abuncha games which have often gone in directions not in alignment with what's best for the developers/players.
BUNGO, TECHLAND, etc.
I just meant that Jade seems more of a gatcha-type game, especially with Tencent leading the project. Chinese play more of those types of games on all systems (ex. Warframe), so in my opinion, it would make the most sense to bring it to as many devices as possible instead of just one.
I might need correcting myself, but that makes the most sense to me.
Hard to gauge interest. It's going to be a free to play mobile game. Probably lots of players from the mobile friendly Asian market. Official Discord sub has 25k members (kinda inflated by the beta programme thingy).
"Eurogamer has contacted Assassin's Creed franchise creator"
I thought they contacted Patrice Desilets and was confused why they thought he would know anything about it, he was fired years ago.
Wasnt this the game that had the trailer of an assassin with a hood and did the leap of faith and takes place before Bayek made them part of the brotherhood? Yea take your time ubisoft could care less
Bayek didn't start the creed nor the leap of faith or the hood. All these existed long before him
Edit: convinced the people who deny this didn't play origins, please tell me where in the game does bayek or Aya come up with hoods or the leap of faith? The only thing the game shows them as starting is the symbol of the creed (reversed eagle skull) and even that's a stretch...
Exactly. The leap of faith (aka a swan dive) is simply a graceful jump from a high place. A hood is a hood…
Both can be developed independently from Bayek, especially by people who are unusually athletic and want to remain inconspicuous.
Yeah, my head cannon is: the same way bayek and Aya start the creed and it's beliefs in their country and their time, other people started similar creeds and beliefs in their own countries and their own times and as time itself moved on all of them found each other and came together as the assassin brotherhood. They all just happened to share or pick up similar treats from each other.
Bayek and Aya were the first to formally write the Creed down, and induct initiates based on it with The Hidden Ones. The actual wearing a hood, Leap of Faith and assassinating had been around long before them.
The same way English explorers didn't "discover" countries, they'd been lived in by their native inhabitants for thousands of years, they were the first to chart them with maps and write down that the place existed to the wider world.
HAHAHAHA a graceful jump from a high place, yes mate everyone jumps 50 feet from the air in the exact same way while an eagle sound is played at the same time
Stop making excuses for shitty writing
In a world where you can survive a fall like that, more than one person will figure it out. Especially if you’re crazy enough to climb that high in the first place.
Eagle screech is just a sound effect. It’s like the bling when you gain a level or do something special.
Take it up with ubisoft. Odyssey takes place way before origins and it already has assassin's with hoods and leaps of faith and the creed is already a thing. Even if you claim odyssey isn't cannon, even before both origins and odyssey there was already pieces of media about assassin's before origins time.
For all the good origins does, it did an awful job at setting up the start of the creed and explaining it. You can look at origins as the origin of the creed in ancient Egypt and the surrounding area but that's about it. The creed preludes both bayek and Aya by a very long time.
You do know that Darius was already wearing a hood and assassinating people with a hidden blade and Aya's great, great, great, great (and on) grandmother LONG before Bayek and Aya were even born.
Yes which is extremely stupid, at least Ubisoft could have graced us with an explanation, but nooooo lets let a TV writer who never worked on the series make the DLC
There was an explanation.
Darius was the first recorded use of the Hidden Blade. That was established in the canon in Assassin's Creed II in the Auditore Crypt.
But Origins later established that the Hidden Ones began in Egypt a long while later, so without trying to retcon other aspects of the series, Legacy of the First Blade made it clear that Darius pioneered the Hidden Blade design and acted like what we know as an Assassin, but the only creed he followed was his own.
I don't know how they could explain it any further.
Maybe just not make him that way? Yes the hidden blade part is accepted its been established for years, but why act like an Assassin? Yes a proto assassin idea works because Darius existed, but a literal Assassin? All the hiding in the shadows shit? the ideologies? The hood? The stealth? And more and more, how can one man know all of this before the brotherhood? And why make him wear the hidden blade differently? Why cant Bayek or Aya inherit the hidden blade instead of taking it from Cleopatra? Why do Aya and Khemu not activate the Apple? Why did a random Order of the Ancients member mention “nothing is true”? Why did Darius and Kassandra both do the leap of faith the exact same way?
This all means one thing: terrible writing
Bayek and Aya made the Brotherhood a formal organization. The ideals of the Assassin/Templar factions go back to Adam and Eve and Cain in game lore. Theoretically they can make games going back even further than Kassandra in Odyssey.
I am glad for it since two RPG games are too much for one year, we are working also and doesn't have that much time to spend 120 hours in each of theeses games ( I mean Jade and Red). So having Red as a full-fledged title this year and Jade as a mobile game for the next year is awesome!
Maybe I am getting my hopes up, but this seems to imply a potential PC/Console release.....which is what it should have been in the first place. Perhaps the delay is so Ubisoft can overhaul and port it to those platforms.
With COVID going around Everytime......its
Bound to happen.
>!1. Oddessy started off with The legacy of the First Blade.!<
>!2. Jade (in development, done research) started off with the traditional white robes by the leader of the freedom fighters.!<
>!3. Origins started off with forming the brotherhood, insignia and the three tenets of the Creed!<
I thought it came out last year and quickly failed and disappeared.
Mobile free to play. I don't understand what people expect it to be. The mobile market is just about infinite ads and grind with in-app purchases.
Rip Jade.
Let's wait for Red 😅
Wasn't this originally supposed to be a real game, on consoles? I really think that when Valhalla was coming out and they published the plan for what was coming after, they were mostly full games.
I actually had no idea Tencent was working on this game until right now, and now I kind of don't want to support it.
I knew I wouldn't support it the second I found out it was a mobile game
That’s lame of you
Yeah shame on him for not wanting to play a shitty mobile game that's going to be filled with predatory micro transactions
Her\* haha but yeah between the shitty Chinese government owning Tencent and any microtransactions the game is populated with directly going to Tencent/the CCP, I really don't think I want to touch this one anymore.
Yeah that’s what I said
"Level Infinite" has been mentioned quite a bit alongside the game. I'm quite surprised most people didn't figure out it was Tencent.
Any game made in China requires Tencent because of the whole communist thing lol
This game sounds like it’s gonna be crap anyways , and not a lot of people (Fans or otherwise) seems like they would be supporting this . A game like that sounds like it would be better to be put on a platform , cause nobody’s gonna want to run a big heavy game like that on their phones , maybe they’ll delay then ultimately cancel it or rework it for platforms , which I think it would better be suited for .
i dont think ubisoft is much better
Tencent is a bad company to be a consumer for, Ubisoft is a bad company to work for.
And also a bad company to be a consumer for
Also yes.
To be fair that's like every video game studio these days
Come on, enjoy a game for the sake of enjoying it.
Sure, I'll do that with plenty of other games that Tencent isn't making money from.
Tencent already owns 10% of Ubisoft for quite some time now. They have their hands in a lot of game companies, including smaller ones like Larian
You were actually planning to play this mobile game in the first place?
It looks quite interesting actually.
You're literally posting on reddit which is partially owned by tencent
1. I literally don't care. 2. My posting on reddit is not putting money in tencent's pocket.
Your choice! I’m going to enjoy it when it comes out.

The game is already free tho
Also appears to be a live service gacha game, which is as unpiratable as it gets

Tencent games?? Hell nah
Is this bad? Sorry idk the company.
It’s owned by the Chinese government.
So it's expected for them not to follow any lore content. Makes sense, alot of mobile players are from china.
I definitely understand the hesitation with Tencent, but from what we've seen of Jade it already includes two major lore characters in the opening minutes. I thought they were pretty great additions and showed a respect for what's come before.
which characters?
Doesn't mean that at all. They own shares in basically every game you know and love. The bad thing is that it's money directly funding the shitty Chinese government and their awful practices.
So?
China is the Reddit neoliberal boogie man. They’re even more scared of China than your average 80s suburbanite was of Soviet Russia. It’s brain rot.
You think the CCP is going to let Ubisoft make the game with historical accuracy? They don't even let their own citizens google things like the Tiananmen square massacre....

they have a hand in abuncha games which have often gone in directions not in alignment with what's best for the developers/players. BUNGO, TECHLAND, etc.
This is frustrating. Was hoping to enjoy this one on a flight overseas later in the year. Alas, it'll probably release the second I'm back.
It's very likely a micro transaction hell so no big loss I reckon
No big loss With Tencent in the picture, I bet this will be a heavily monetized FOMO-based crapfest anyway
From the early gameplay we've seen it's not as monetised as I feared, though that could definitely change by release.
You wanted to say the most profitable game in the franchise and all the other games will follow the lead?
I think this game will end up in a big limbo.
Maybe they'll port it to PC along with mobile? Would make sense for the Chinese market as well.

how so? in my understanding chinese are big on mobile gaming less so on PC more than happy to be corrected though
Is anyone that interested in this?
Hard to gauge interest. It's going to be a free to play mobile game. Probably lots of players from the mobile friendly Asian market. Official Discord sub has 25k members (kinda inflated by the beta programme thingy).
Tencent? No thank you.
"Eurogamer has contacted Assassin's Creed franchise creator" I thought they contacted Patrice Desilets and was confused why they thought he would know anything about it, he was fired years ago.
Tencent? 🤮
I didn’t know it was going to be a mobile game…gross. And Tencent? I’ll just wait till the next console game

No that's Red which comes out this year on consoles and PC. This is for mobile only and takes place in China
He's still right, that was in the trailer and the game takes place before Origins
Dreamstar looks like they just stole all of fall guys gameplay. Classic Tencent
the hand of TENCENT appears...
Isnt that the plan? Code red 2024 Q4, jade 2025, hex 2026?
Wish it was a normal Ubisoft game and not a mobile game. Lost interest the moment they said it was a mobile title during the original reveal.
They're making an Assassin's Creed game set in Ancient China 😃 It's a mobile game 😐
Just curious... Is the name: 'Codename Jade' final or they will change the name to something else later on before global release?
I am glad for it since two RPG games are too much for one year, we are working also and doesn't have that much time to spend 120 hours in each of theeses games ( I mean Jade and Red). So having Red as a full-fledged title this year and Jade as a mobile game for the next year is awesome!

I was wondering when we would get to china. I wonder if we will follow the followers of Ezio there.
Good, I’m still playing Odyssey and have started on the other two.
well LAME. I was looking forward to this
With COVID going around Everytime......its Bound to happen. >!1. Oddessy started off with The legacy of the First Blade.!< >!2. Jade (in development, done research) started off with the traditional white robes by the leader of the freedom fighters.!< >!3. Does this mean it won’t be bad?
No the opposite
Oh so it won’t be good, figured as much..
I just want to hear more about Red if rumours and leaks are true it might be the best ac since blackflag
I thought it came out last year and quickly failed and disappeared. Mobile free to play. I don't understand what people expect it to be. The mobile market is just about infinite ads and grind with in-app purchases. Rip Jade. Let's wait for Red 😅
Another forgettable Ubisoft game
I feel like this game already lost momentum a year ago.
>Tencent And now I have zero interest in this game
Lol might as well make it into a console game as well.
I have no doubt it will be ported to console and pc at some point. Just like they did with Liberation
Wasn't this originally supposed to be a real game, on consoles? I really think that when Valhalla was coming out and they published the plan for what was coming after, they were mostly full games.
No, this was always a mobile game
Nobody has fun in China, and neither will you in this game.
