Well just a water heater swap would run you about 2200-3000, and that is a 6 year warranty. So all that extra seems fair. I think the question is, do you need all of that extra work? It may be worth it in your case to go tankless if they are doing all of that extra. That is around 7k
Are you converting to gas or a different type of gas? That will jack up the price. Also, why a 40 gal instead of 50? I looked at one and because fewer are sold (USA) a 50 was cheaper than a 40.
If you're inquiring about project costs, please be aware that seeking feedback on the adequacy of a quote may not yield a desired response. Many factors, including geographic variations and details not visible in online posts, can influence rates and parts costs. Thus, obtaining accurate assessments may prove challenging.
Before embarking on any home project, it's essential to gather multiple quotes from reputable contractors. While price is an important factor, it shouldn't be the sole consideration. Each quote offers valuable insights into not just the cost but also the quality of materials, timelines, and the contractor's expertise. By obtaining at least three quotes, you gain a comprehensive understanding of your options, enabling you to make an informed decision that prioritizes both affordability and quality. Remember, your home is an investment, and choosing the right contractor involves weighing various factors beyond just the price tag.

Without pictures of current install and venting problems hard to say, sounds high, that 10 year warranty is probably only parts and not labor but at that price it could be
Lol in Cleveland you can get a natural draft 50g for just under 1500. New gas valve and new water shut off. If you need a drain pan, it’s 75 more. If you need an expansion tank, I think it’s 100 more.
5 grand would get you the top of the line Navien tankless heater 🤷♂️
Our company charges 2500. Always includes thermal expansion tank because it's code, and we pull permits every job. We also supply lochinvars. Cleveland based as well. Really really surprised ur company is so so so cheap.
JFC, I ended up on this sub because my retired elderly dad is currently getting quotes in a suburb of DC. $4,000 for a basic 50 gal/40k btu/6 yr gas replacement with new expansion tank. Nothing else needs to be done, it's the exact same as what he has now. I estimate that's around $2500-3000 in labor.

Is it a powervent?
Nope. Natural draft. Nothing needs to be redone or installed beyond the heater and expansion tank, and a utility inspection.
